This is funny stuff ... it is not really a true Gin (its 37.5% rather than 40% and is made from grape spirit rather than the more customary neutral grain spirit of traditional gins - and vodkas for that matter) And some people just DON'T like it ... it has a prominent floral and violet taste with an oily/aromatic even somewhat "dieselly" after-taste. And I guess that puts some people off. In a G&T I think it is fantastic. In a Martini it's horrific ... BUT with a good glug mixed with fresh lemonade and sugar you have the wonderful Menorcan classic - a 'Pomada'. Again it has a bit of a cult-underground following and be warned it's not to everyone's taste.

'Do you want Gordon's or Local Gin?' said the waiter at La Quinta hotel in Menorca. My wife opted for the 'Local Gin' - and said she'd never tasted anything like it before. She liked it so much we bought a litre home with us.I know there are a lot of gin snobs around these days, and I have no idea how this fits into their world, but as a something different, this gets top marks. Apparently it's to do with using fermented grape juice not grain. Whatever. (I prefer malt whisky myself).Buying imported gin isn't cheap, but once you've tried Xoriguer of Mahon, other gins just aren't the same...

Don't be fooled by the non-trendy packaging - gin was introduced to Menorca by the British and Xoriguer is one of the oldest gin recipes in the world. In this case old is best and this is fabulous with Tonic or Bitter Lemon. For the authentic Menorca taste use Kas Limon, sold all over Spain, as it is better balanced for sweet/sharp than most bar bitter lemons.Any Gin Bar without this values pretentiousness over taste. Buy it.

Now I know Gin has become fashionable with new varieties of gin being made almost everywhere but this is not new and it remains the most interesting, enjoyable, flavoursome gin I have tasted. That is regardless of where it has been purchased. (Sorry Amazon) However, with next day delivery without the need to leave the house ...The only problem is that it is an expensive Gin matching the prices of the new fashionable gins.

I generally love G&Ts. Hendricks and Brooklyn are two favourites. This is a great gin, especially in a Pomada, mixed with cloudy lemonade / bitter lemon, adding slices of lemon, orange and grapefruit. Far too easy to drink quickly so beware. Even with delivery from Spain still good value (if you buy 3 bottles like I did!!!)

Probably the best gin in the gin world! First had in Menorca in 1980,didnt drink spirits but this is an exception, Beautiful gentle herbal/floral/yummy warm flavour. No gin-ny bitterness at all. Adore it. If I'd realised how expensive it is here, I would have brought a few dozen bottles back. Maybe a hundred?............

A gin for purist gin drinkers - heavy on the juniper no perfume florals or over powering botanicals. Made from grape so no problem following with wine or drinking yourself into misery! Plus good delivery and most important good strong brilliantly designed ECO packaging ???

First bought at the airport in Menorca and by chance discovered the most marvellous tasting gin. In my opinion the best gin money can buy. So full of flavour, maybe the flavour of the juniper berries. Much cheaper than all the fashionable gins now available in the shops.

First tasted in Majorca this summer. Wow - it took my breath away.Surprisingly difficult to get hold of in the UK at a reasonable price considering it cost peanuts in Majorca.Nevertheless, the first sip transported me back to a fab taverna next to the sea.

Anyone who has tried this in Minorca will know how awesome it tastes served long with cloudy lemonade and ice - but it's subtle taste doesn't seem to catch on with the general public. Try some al fresco on a summers day - you'll be back for more!

The best Gin I have ever tasted. But the seller really should state that the cap is designed to be used using an Optic bar dispenser. The only way to pour the contents out is to first saw off the cap mechanism leaving the bottle damaged.

Really gorgeous gin. Very aromatic, quite smooth and drinkable with just ice and lemon. Makes an interesting present for a gin-lover, and is relatively cheap but much nicer for G&T duties than many gins of the same price.

Bought this gin hoping that it would be a cheap alternative to nordes. It's from the same neck of the woods and it's a grape spirit. But it's no nordes. Saying that it's still very drinkable and enjoyable.

My favourite gin! Really strong juniper flavour with hints of earthy botanicals! I loved visiting the distillery in Menorca and this gin really evokes the smells of the beautiful Mediterranean island!

Gin made from grapes instead of junipers. I don't like normal gin, but love this with some Sanpellegrino lemon as a mixer. Minorcans where this gin is from call this a pomada . Awesome summer drink
