Tarquin's Cornish Dry Gin had been on my list to try for the best part of a year, so when I got the message to say it was featured in Amazon's new "Treasure Truck" I was delighted. As a disclaimer, I must admit when it comes to gin I am a bit of a traditionalist, I drink it only with tonic, no negronis or martinis for me.Upon opening the box you're greeted to a very classy looking bottle. The top has been wax sealed and little details like the Tarquin's logo being embossed into the wax on the cap and the waves imprinted into the bottom of the bottle (representing the Cornish coast where this is distilled) makes you feel like you have a real premium spirit on your hands.I was a little surpsied and disappointed when I noticed the label, I thought I had received a dodgy bottle as it was stuck on wonky. This briefly dampened my mood but then I looked at the small leaflet attached to the bottle and realised this is actually what it is meant to look like. Head on, the label looks quite nicely slanted, but I must admit when looking at where the two ends of the label meet it does look a bit shoddy and out of place for such wonderful branding. This is, however, the only small downside.Moving onto the gin itself. Look, I know most people aren't looking for a deep explanation into the subtleties of this gin so what I will say is this. If you want a really good tasting gin that looks amazing, something to bring out on special occasions or when you have people over, look no further. This is a great gin, an all-rounder, and personally I don't think you can go wrong. As I mentioned I love a crisp, dry, refreshing gin and this didn't disappoint. Botanicals used are Juniper, Coriander seeds, Orris root, Cadamon, Almost, Cinnamon, Liquorice Root, Orange peel, Lemon peel, Grapefruit peel, Violet. This isn't the boldest juniper based gin you will try, the juniper is there but is somewhat hidden by the citrus that shines through, but it is very well balanced. At 42% it's not going to blow your head off but at the same time you'll know you've had a gin!Price and availability mean this goes in my cabinet for when I want a nice gin. If I'm going to have 2 or 3 I'll have something I can easily replace from the supermarket, I don't want to plough through this, it's one of my favourites.

Distilled in Cornwall in small batches, a contemporary take on London dry gin, with botanicals including fragrant handpicked violets and fresh orange zest. The result is comparable to stumbling upon orange blossom in a crisp, dry pine forest, apparently.Well that's the blurb on the label, but is it actually any good? I stumbled upon this recently when on a weekend away in Cornwall, ordering an aperitif in a restaurant, among the bog standard gins which I didn't really fancy was this which I'd never heard of, so I gave it a shot. I was quite blown away, and so was my wife who insisted on stealing half of it for herself.I've been less of a fan of the dry gin style and my preferred brand for a long time has been Plymouth Gin,but after tasting this fantastic brand it has shot straight to #1. Bursting with flavour, the botanicals are quite strong and heady - usually with gin I don't add too much tonic, probably about 2:1 tonic:gin (and my wife is more of a 1:1 sort of person) simply so that you can actually taste the gin - but this highly aromatic gin stands up very well indeed to much more tonic, in fact I'd say it’s a necessity to dilute it more so that it isn’t overpowering. I also think that this gin is much better with a slice of lime rather than lemon, but that’s perhaps a personal preference. Now it’s not cheap by any means, so it’s perhaps more of a “special occasion” gin, and it’s certainly not for sharing. It will be carefully hidden at the back of the cocktail cabinet when the mother-in-law comes round.

This is a very floral gin. As it is all made in small batches they can taste slightly different from one batch to the next. This gin isn’t overpowering when drinking it on its own or with water.I would recommend drinking it on its own or in a Gin and Tonic as it can be really hard to make a cocktail out of it due to its very floral notes. You would have to think very carefully in deciding on what cocktail to put it in due to its floral notes as it can over power or be muted in some cocktails.

This is my absolute favourite tipple. Have always been a gin fan, mainly Bombay Sapphire and Tanqueray, but always partial to a Hendricks as well. Had my first Tarquins in a Rock Stein restaurant and this is my first bottle at home. I’m going to have to move to monthly subscription! Mix this with Mediterranean Fever tree tonic and a slice of orange, not lemon or lime. Feel that stressful day melt away. Yes it is expensive, but it is worth it, even the bottle is different class.

Absolutely incredible gin. Me & my wife are regular gin drinkers, and we try many different bottles so feel we are well placed to give a review. We have to say that this gin is quite spectacular. With a slice of grapefruit & a sprig of thyme it's a truly joy to behold. It's certainly up in the top 3 we have ever tried, and it is potentially the best.I can't give it higher praise, and if you're debating on whether to buy a bottle - do it now - you won't regret it :)

This is one of the best gins I’ve ever tasted (and I’ve tried quite a few!) Not so juniper forward that it’s bordering on pine cleaner but the key gin botanical lingers on the tongue nicely. Citrus tones hit the back of the pallet and there’s a delightful lingering floral note. I discovered Tarquinius gins through Craft Gin Club and loved it so much bought this one to try. Will defo reorder and try the rest of Tarquins gins. Thankfully there are quite a few to try!

I brought this as a gift for a serious gin lover. She has a gin cabinet that can rival many a gin bar so she really knows her stuff, apparently its absolutely amazing so I can't want to go round and try one. This review relates to the standard dry gin but I myself have tried the blackcurrant one as they have it in my local pub, very yummy and quite different from the normal strawberry and raspberry pink gins about. Not quite as sweet, but equally as yummy.

My order arrived on time and was well packaged. This was for a birthday present for a friend but I got to taste it as well. She was delighted with the present and as an aficionado of gin spoke warmly about the quality of the product. She did a taste test with me, using this gin against one of the standard supermarket products and I was really surprised at how different the flavours were. I'm now a confirmed gin fan and will be ordering myself a bottle soon.

One of my favourite gins of the last few years.Stunning bottle design and then it’s a fantastic base for your gin and tonic - also known to make a rather excellent Martini…At regular price it’s a little on the higher end, but Amazon seem to have a buyer partnership with them, so you can get it at a very fine price indeed - set up an alert like I have and then you’ll get the best price.Perfect as a gift as well as just for your own home bar set up.

This is a great gin fullstop. It's similar in tast to Whitley Neill but much more subtle and complex more full of flavour but somehow less strong tasting. Not sure if it's worth a full £9ish more if it was priced around £25 I'd buy nothing else but I always have to wait for a deal to pop up. For this price and for me the best is still No. 3 London dry or The Botonist (depending on my mood) but this is up there with these running in 3rd in my book.

* editHave now finished the bottle and have put lights in it! Looks amazing on the side!!Gin: citrus flavours, quite dry tasting but oozing with quality.Works very well with Fever Tree and a few slices of grapefruit. The bottle is corked and very pretty, you can see that it is authentic and locally sourced. Very nice gin (though I'm not an expert by far!)Will be keeping the bottle and putting some lights in it as it’s too good to throw away!

Fantastic gin.We tried Tarquins when we were in Cornwall, and after finishing the bottle we brought home I was happy to find it on Amazon for less than we paid for it locally. We now have two bottles in the cupboard and being handmade in small batches I can definitely say that each batch is subtly different - they may taste slightly different but my two bottles of Tarquins are currently my best two bottles out of half a dozen bottles of gin.

Great flavour gin, some spice and floral notes my opinion, though each batch is different i hear. Bottle is ace with its pale blue colour (the bottle not the gin) and was wax closure - definitely a talking point. Got it at a discount on Amazon for (c) £27 for 70 co which is about right for a niche small batch gin. Drink best over ice or with Schweppes tonic. Had mine with grapefruit garnish, but stands on its own to be honest.

Got the gin on offer just before Christmas, have really enjoyed it.Bit more subtle flavoured than somegins out there these days but still really nice and very smooth, quite versatile as it goes well with multiple garnishes. Very refreshing. The bottle is stunning as well so would be good for a present for someone as it looks impressive.Would buy again and will probably try one of their other gins at some point as well

I had big expectations after reading the reviews, I must say this is a nice gin and well presented but I don’t feel it’s worth 5* for me there is so many guns around now and I love the more small batch gins but I do feel this gin is a good one but there is a few that are better for a lot less money, it does come down to personal taste I now have 30 gins and I would put this in the middle, love the bottle though
