Distilled in Cornwall in small batches, a contemporary take on London dry gin, with botanicals including fragrant handpicked violets and fresh orange zest. The result is comparable to stumbling upon orange blossom in a crisp, dry pine forest, apparently.Well that's the blurb on the label, but is it actually any good? I stumbled upon this recently when on a weekend away in Cornwall, ordering an aperitif in a restaurant, among the bog standard gins which I didn't really fancy was this which I'd never heard of, so I gave it a shot. I was quite blown away, and so was my wife who insisted on stealing half of it for herself.I've been less of a fan of the dry gin style and my preferred brand for a long time has been Plymouth Gin,but after tasting this fantastic brand it has shot straight to #1. Bursting with flavour, the botanicals are quite strong and heady - usually with gin I don't add too much tonic, probably about 2:1 tonic:gin (and my wife is more of a 1:1 sort of person) simply so that you can actually taste the gin - but this highly aromatic gin stands up very well indeed to much more tonic, in fact I'd say it’s a necessity to dilute it more so that it isn’t overpowering. I also think that this gin is much better with a slice of lime rather than lemon, but that’s perhaps a personal preference. Now it’s not cheap by any means, so it’s perhaps more of a “special occasion” gin, and it’s certainly not for sharing. It will be carefully hidden at the back of the cocktail cabinet when the mother-in-law comes round.

Well, where do I start? This seemed like an amazing purchase after the positive reviews so I purchased this for myself, being the absolute gin lover that I am.As soon as it arrived, I thought I would try a small tipple to see what the fuss was about. HOLY COW! The small tipple left me grinning like an idiot and feeling a bit warm and fuzzy. It does have a fab flavour too - I suppose I should add that bit.My husband came home early and wondered why his wife looked so happy for a Thursday afternoon, so he decided to try it too. Trust me it gets better. By the third one, we were both completely off our t**ts and dancing like Jedward on speed. With gin goggles firmly in place,my husband looked like a Greek god and I was under the impression that Beyonce had nothing on my dance moves. I'm not sure who was more shocked when my son came in with his friend to find us both dressed in only tinsel dancing to 'Bring your daughter to the slaughter' - such a classic Christmas song.Since then, we have stuck to just the one 'shot' per glass and it appears that we have since remained in control of our faculties. In summary - great stuff; should carry warnings per shot.1 - Warm and fuzzy - may cause excess giggling or flirting2 - Temporary blindness - may cause outbreaks of stupidity, loud singing, hallucination or loss of motor skills3 - Completely tw*ted - may lead to severe embarrassment, death, pregnancy or legal action

First tried this last summer in Cornwall after the barman recommended it. In truth, I've never felt the need to buy expensive or quirky gin when Bombay Saphire or Gordon's does the job perfectly well. Tarquin's Seadog changed my mind. A real gem and I can't believe more people haven't heard of it. Has a kick to it, but it's not overbearing. Each bottle is hand labelled. It isn't cheap but it's an award winning gin made in the UK by a small company who clearly, really care. Most of all, it's delicious. You won't regret buying it.

I have always enjoyed a gin and tonic (or gin and it) in the evening and usually it has been of the Gordon’s variety. That was until I was introduced to Tarquin's Sea Dog and now it is absolutely top of the list, not just because of its high alcohol percentage but because it has a really nice flavour especially when mixed with a Mediterranean- style tonic. I have no hesitation in recommending this to all and sundry!

A truly spectacular gin!Complex, delicious and possessing a smoothness which belies its immense alcoholic strength.Makes amazing G&T - just remember to use a little less (it's almost 50% more alcoholic than most gins!!).I've tried pretty much all the gins out there and this is my go-to favourite when I want to treat myself or impress friends. Not sure how a gin could get much better, to be honest!

I drink a lot of different gins, have gin club subscriptions, go to the festivals etc..hadn't tried this before, was on offer so took a punt, WOW. The flavour is immense. Spicy yet soft, I've been pairing with fever tree aromatic tonic and lime. The alcohol content is a bonus. This is right up there with my favourite gins now, alongside Batch gin, elephant gin and black tomato

Loved the blue 'standard' version until I tried this after being bought for me as a gift from a friend. This is literally on a completely different level from other gins I have tried(quite a few). Coupled with fever tree Indian or Mediterranean is simply sublime! The flavours are simply sumptuous. As mentioned in other reviews, goes straight to my head!

Wonderful clean flavour and really packs a punch - I find it goes especially well with Fevertree's Mediterranean tonic. BTW when you add the tonic it turns cloudy, I *think* that's some of the alcohol precipitating out of the fluid, but I'm no scientist!

This was a gift to my partner. She blatantly hinted the need for the tipple, the purchase was rewarded with peace and quiet for a full weekend. I highly recommend it to any weiry man that needs a few hours peace in his shed.

Lovely smooth gin which is the nicest unflavoured gin I have ever tried. Best partnered with a Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic water. Its cheaper here on Amazon than it is in the South Western distillery’s own shop!

The nicest gin I have ever had. Considering the high percentage, I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to drink 3 glasses without passing out or dying of alcohol poisoning. Will definitely buy again.

Bought in the sale. It tastes lush and very different. As it’s name describes - there is a slight salty taste. I love it. Plus this is on par with salcombe gin which is also a fav!!

My repeat order for this peerless gin.Not to be used carelessly, this is the finest gin in my experience, and is now my enthusiastic & exclusive recommendation.Bravo Tarquin!?
