I wasn't able to try this properly myself as even standard malt scotch isn't something I would ever enjoy properly to appreciate it as it should be, and so certainly wouldn't with a cask-strength malt such as this 'Flaming Feast' one from Wemyss Malts. But my partner, his brother and my father-in-law are all very fond fans and they have each very much enjoyed sampling this which has certainly made the time go a little quicker (although probably less clearer) within the limits of social outings during current isolation. They were all super impressed with this blended malt which is very full with a mix of first more savoury, salty and slightly smoked taste quickly followed by a sweeter uplift from the caramel. They each tried this first neat to experience the full cask strength and all found it smooth enough to enjoy at that intensity in-spite of the very the high alcohol volume and then experimented with ratios of their chosen mixers and/or mineral water mixes as intended with cask-strength bottles such as this one. It's really nicely presented too with a fairly premium look and seems very good value for what it is too. If you;re a fan of malts and looking for a new edge to your dram then this is definitely one worth exploring.

Having been a whiskey drinker for over 30 years consider I have a really good palate for a good whiskey or at least I know what I like; the Flaming Feast arrived in a simple branded but nice box. First impressions are that it’s a very nicely designed bottle with the concentric circles or tree rings embossed on the bottle, the colour is a very light goldThe bottle has a foil covered cork top stopper and after pouring out a glass I found the aroma (nose) is a honey sweet with a subtle smoke, I have never been one to spend ages running through adjectives to describe a whisky but I do know what I like and this has a very pleasant drink me aroma. The taste (palate)is really nice with a nice honey sweet hint having a good contrasting savoury balance; this is a blend of two single malt whiskies and in my opinion a very good matured blend that delivers a very nice result I really enjoyed.Overall I really can’t fault it and would certainly recommend it to another whisky drinker.

I have tried a few whiskies in my day, and I find that something with a complex palette is not for me. That is not to say that I don't like taste, but I prefer the sweeter tones to the darker or peat-based ones. 'Flaming Feast' from Wemyss sounds like it might have an aggressiveness to it, but that is not the case. It is certainly strong enough, but it is not as powerful as you can get. It has some lighter tones in it that follow the smoky start making it a little sweeter and very nice to drink. I would call it an easy drinker so watch out how much you have! The bottle and box are very attractive so you could buy this for yourself or as a gift.I would consider this a good whisky for someone you are not sure if they like smoky or sweet whisky as it covers both. Arguably, the prince of many is master of none, but for most of the more casual spirits drinker, this will be one of the best they have ever had.

I do love my whisky and work my way through a bit of it in the course of a year. I go through phases, and have tended toward less smoky flavours, while I used to prefer Islay single malts. I try not to be too much of a snob, and have drunk my fair share of blended whisky.Flaming Feast is a fairly strong blend at 46% ABV, although not as strong as some of the other Wemyss Family whisky which can really knock your socks off.The flavour is strong, smoky and characterful. Not something that you sip down without really noticing it. A bit of a treat. The only tricky thing is the price - this is quite an expensive bottle of whisky and while it's worth the money there are a whole lot of different Scotches you could buy for the same money. It's nicely packaged and would make a good gift, I'm just not sure if the recipient of your gift would guess that it cost nearly fifty quid.

This is another fine whiskey from the Wemyss distillery (pron: ‘weems’ apparently). This one is definitely for fans of a smokey dram, as this - to my palate - is by some distance the dominant note, followed up with vanilla and caramel. According to the tasting notes there is a floral element (but which I wasn’t getting) but I detected a sherry note (that isn’t mentioned). What I can agree with though is it is a very agreeable dram (and I’m not usually a particular fan of the Isley/smoke variety of scotch). It’s smooth enough to drink neat but with water the vanilla comes to the fore I found. Either way it’s a pleasure to drink. While not quite as pleasing (to my mind)as other Wemyss malts I’ve tried it is nonetheless a fine scotch which any smokey-malt fan would be more than happy with.Another winner from Wemyss.

The whiskey comes in a nice box. Taking out of the box the whiskey is a nice light, clear colour. Pulling out the stopper, the initial aroma is classic whisky, but then a smokier scent is noticable. So to the taste. The initial whiskey taste is tinged with a saltiness that is not expected but not unpleasant. This is soon replaced with the smokiness which ties in the flavour nicely. This fades leaving behind a salty aftertaste.I liked it but can see it being an acquired taste. I tried it neat but if you like mixer with it then i think a cola would more suit the flavour and add a bit of sweetness to counterbalance the saltiness.I liked it and i'm sure anyone that enjoys something a little differentto a general whiskey will like it too.

If you're expecting to be punched in the taste buds with vanilla, you'll be disappointed. However if you're looking for a smooth tasting whiskey, with a subtle vanilla undertone, that doesn't have the harshness of alot of other flavoured whiskeys, then you're in the right place. A healthy splash of this, over 2 cubes of ice, a wedge of fresh cut lime, and a small splash of lemonade is a beautiful 'wind-down' drink after a long day at work, equally, a delicious drink as you sit in the garden watching the sun go down. Will absolutely be buying this again

My first thought was that this seemed rather expensive for a blended whisky, but my fears were allayed on my first taste; it's really a very good whisky, and certainly on a par with some single malts I've tried. It's extremely smooth, not very peaty (which ties in with my tastes), and I can recommend it fully. Five stars.

One of the excellent value blended, nas malts from Wemyss. Lightly peated, with the addition of a little water it tastes sweeter and smoother with a long finish. Perfect for winter evenings.

Nice blended malt, no great age to it, not as much gorse nose on it as I'd have liked but drinkable enough

This is a beautiful malt whisky...peaty but not overpowering...as well as very smooth and palatable.
