Being a big fan of the Dawn of War series of rthe PC, I was eagerly awaiting this release for the PSP, and I wasn't dissapointed. The game is turn based, which makes the focus of the game very defintiely on tactical decissions - using each member of yyour squad to their maximum potential, making use of the desctructible terrain, making use of overlapping fields of fire etc. Basically, it's a military small-unit tactics game set in the Warhammer universe. The graphics are great, and as one would expect from a Warhammer game the sound, music and video sequences are suitably stiring and dramatic. However, for me by far the best element is the enemy AI. Enemy units are genuinely intelligent and can make very good use of cover, movement & even set up ambushes for you - charge blindly in & your entire squad will almost certainly be wiped out in short order. Essentially, the enemy forces you to carefully consider how to approach each objective and how to utilise the customisable kit (wargear to the initiated) carried by your Spacemarines or local defence force troopers (think Imperial Guard).I haven't yet completed the campaign, so I can't really offer a valid oppinion on the game's longevity, but if you're a fan of the Warhammer universe and are looking for a dose of the Ultramaries on the go, then this game is a must. If you enjoy squad-level tactical strategy games then this is an excellent one, set in a well realised universe. Finally, Warhammer 40K comes to the PSP!If the game has options making re-play worthwhile, and if multiplayer turns out well, then I'd gladly award this game 5 stars.

One of the first games I purchased for the PSP an still playing it.The graphics and sound are superb, and the missions are at the right difficulty level. There are a number of units to use (space marines, scouts, terminators, grey knights, dreadnoughts, predator, land raider, land speeder) as the space marines and the enemy chaos also has a number of different units and vehicles. You get to choose the weaponry (bolters, missile launchers, las cannons, chainsword, plasma guns and many more) for your squad and then play a hunt and destroy or survive for a number of turns game. They are all set in an urban city which again is very good graphics and the scenery is all destructable. This is the real limitation of the game and all missions are set in the same city environment. But the game is great fun and there are 15 missions to play in single mission mode. The best missions are when you have to keep the squad alive playing defensive for a number of turns whilst they are attacked by numerous enemies. The cut scenes also must get a mention as they are really well rendered.Though the storyline linking them could have been better with characters such as maybe a squad sergeant etc.Top game lets hope they do another.

this game is great, graphics are brilliant, gameplay is brilliant, and weapon options and different campains as well as a good storyline make it a good start to a new style of game. However, game sharing for this game is a little 2D as you can only play as SM (the host) and Chaos, which although it is true for the rest of the game, in this mode its just 6 marines vs 6 chaos marines.Obviously got some work to do, but taking a look back at DOW compared to DOW2 and SS, i see that actually they had a lot of work to do.As a foundation for future releases of this game, i think its great. At the moment, it is short, not many people own it for multiplayer and there are just two races to take,as well as no option for which units you want to take to each battle (e.g. a points limit and a choice in each campaign mission would make it better). However, weapon options are good and the whole cover system, and everything else is good.

I've lost count of the number of times i've played through this game. For me at least i find it has great replayability as you try to complete each level without loosing any squad members etc.It suits the PSP perfectly as it is turn based so can be picked up and played easily without wearing your left thumb to the bone Also as i own several consoles and have found mostly crap on the PSP I was delighted with this game. Great atmosphere and unit moddeling. The very short cutscenes between levels are exceptionnaly well rendered and you can tell alot of effort and care was put into making it. Personally it's my favourite game on the PSP.Also i've never played the 40k boardgame so i'm not a total fanboy although since playing this and Dawn of war i've begun reading the books which i would also recommend.

I bought this game for a PSP as I am a fan of the table top version of the Warhammer and Warhammer 40K game and to be honest it could have been better. Don't get me wrong, I have had and am having fun playing this game, but it could have been just a little bit more expansive. The graphics are alright for the platform, the sound effects are basic but acceptable, the real plus for me is what I could only describe as the 'annoyance factor' of dying all too soon because you have been out thought by the machine (most annoying). Should you buy this game, overall, yes, but, and how often is there a but don't expect too much, its fun, frustrating and not too challenging on the brain,so all in all a winner (just).

First of all i was looking on the internet for any good demos or games for my psp and then i came along this game.i like warhammer 40k and that stuff so i downloaded it on to my psp and was amazed. Graphically it is awsome with destructible environments and great charachter modeling. It is also just like actually playing warhammer as each unit has action points that are used when moving, shooting, ect. im hoping there will be a good storyline to this game as this will make it a 5 star game.a little flaw is the controls which are annoying at first. This is a great game for people that like and have never tried warhammer. GO THQ!!!!

Ive played the demo on my psp, the overall feel of the graphics and gameplay is amazing, however i cant speak for the full game, from what i understand there is limited multiplayer which for me would be an important negative factor. The controls are relatively simple, my friend played it for the first time on my psp and was able to pick up the game in 5 minutes and he doesnt even have a psp :>.Overall 4/5 because i dont have an honest idea of the full content of the game and lets face it, no game is perfect :P.

From first looks at the previews on THQ main site, it looks like the old Chaos Gate game, both are squad tatical games, both are Ultramarines vs. Chaos, both allow set-up weapons/equipment, both allow command of infantry and vechiles, however, Squad Command will be much more up-to-date then Chaos Gate and contains more vechiles and weapons (well maybe not weapons) then Chaos gate, i loved Chaos Gate so therefor i will love Squad Command (espcally as Chaos gate will not run on any modern pc)

Squad command is an easy game to play, the controls are simple and speak for them selves. The missons are nicely linked together by the cinematics, very nicely done.I love the great variety of units, weapons and maps. Although 15 missons is not that much... I wouldn't mind an expansion. Or second game...Any Warhammer 40K gamer is going to love this game. Its a great digital version of the table top game. A great pice of work.

A fun game to play and if you use a psp for travel then this game is perfect, sure you can get a little bit angry playing it at times but its part of the experience. WarHammer is a good game but if you are buying it think it is a bit like COD then don't. If you are into strategy then this is the game for you. At first I found it a bit boring but eventually I got into. Sadly when I finaly started to enjoy it I had already completed the game. A good but a bit boring!

RTS and similar games finally coming the consoles more and more recently and this one i'm glad to say is a good addition. although the multiplayer mode isn't as good especially as it tend to timeout when looking for players at least in my experience..a good buy waiting for D-O-W 2

22.7.2011

Excellent game, deliverd quickly, made my 10 hours of travelling fly by. The only down-side is you only get to play as Space Marine and not experience battling anyone other than Chaos. Nice tactical change of pace, A/I isn't the cleverest but it makes for a fun game.

15.2.2015

A good strategy game. plenty of weapons [and maps] to choose from. Admittedly, not the longest psp game in the world, but there is plenty of action. This is a really good turn based squad command game that can be played several times over.

The game is brilliant, worth easily twice as much as i paid for it. As for service, i recieved it over a week before the ETA.
