I SO loved this! I have only ever played one other Prince of Persia game, the '3D' one, in fact I have only just now discovered there are others! I never got to finish the '3D' as it was so dark on about level 5 that after changing every setting on my monitor and the gamma on the game it was still too black for me to continue. At first I found the action and fighting daunting in Forgotten Sands as I am a first-person Myst kind of adventure person, but after some nailbiting squealing levels (I hate heights and there are a LOT of height climbs and leaps in this game!), I became quite blase about it and couldn't wait for more. The Prince's comments are funny and natural and not overdone - and the British accent is heaps better than the awful disembodied American one in '3D'. The scenery and action are great, with some fiendishly difficult jump sequences which took me ages to master. They might be more difficult with a keyboard, but I prefer the keyboard to a gamepad.I have a few complaints - I hated not being able to save games when I wanted to - this made the difficult sequences much harder and more tedious as I could not save half-way through and then work on a tricky bit. I didn't like the fact that the keys changed with perspective - if W is forward I want it to stay that way not change to A if the Prince is viewed sideways - and the camera angle was annoying at times as it was very hard to stay close-up, it would veer away just when you wanted to see and enjoy the action clearly. It also prevented you from seeing what was coming up. I often had to get the Prince to jump down to ledges or even 'die' in order to get a good view of the scene when he fell. However the fact that I could do that showed just how good the graphics are - not an inch was missed wherever you looked nor however unexpected the area you went into, for example throwing the Prince off somewhere he was obviously not meant to go, the graphics were complete, solid and unbroken.I only had one bug, when he slid into a jar on one level and was stuck there between floors, but for such a big game that is a good record. The music could have had more variety but on the whole was great and suitably eastern.I would absolutely recommend this to all action gamers, especially females like myself - the army or mafia etc types are so dull - but this is great!

This review comes from the perspective of someone who didn't really get on with the Rival Swords Prince of Persia game on the PSP and thought it was a step in wrong direction for handheld gaming, at least when the control systems were as unpolished for the psp as in that game. As such, the return to a 2d side scrolling game was a welcome return. I could finally enjoy the PoP games on a handheld device again. However, if you enjoyed the 3d games then take this review with a pinch of salt, as this game may not be to your liking.Graphics are on par with any other handheld game on the market at this time, the Prince and his enemies are well designed, and motions are smooth. The backgrounds are well thought out,and the themes of the levels are different enough to feel like you're really progressing through a world. The sound is also pretty decent for a handheld device; the music really puts you into the world of PoP and feels right at home in the deserts. The sound effects too are good enough to not get annoying after constant repetitions, which is always a plus.Gameplay is where the game really shines though, with the side scrolling helping to give the game structure. The basic gameplay is the same as the previous games, it's a platform game where you can stop, slow or speed up time in order to advance in the game, jumping and completing puzzles as they become apparent. The upgrade system is a nice feature and gives a reason to collect all of the elixir in a level other than for completions sake. Which is another good point also; the game has a lot of replay value if you are after a complete game, as levels need to be completed within a certain amount of time with no deaths and a certain number of elixirs collected in order to get the perfect score. The elemental powers add a new dimension to the game as far as puzzles go, and some variety is always nice to see.The story itself is the usual fare, you play through levels and unlock powers in order to stop the bad guy and save the world. Though in saying that, the inclusion of a completely original and compelling story isn't necessary for the Prince of Persia games to work. At least for me, the PoP games embody classic gameplay and a feeling that you can pick up and play at any time, and this game certainly fulfils that role admirably.

Ok first i talk about the game then how the DRM works and one bug i got. (pop= prince of persia)The game is amazing, it takes me back to prince of persia 3, has good action climbing and challenges are ok, nothing too mind bologing. the combat is quite wierd. there is recognisable combo's int eh game but aren't display so you just pick them up by trial and error. the new fighting style is magic add-ons, which is pretty cool and oviously has the classic rewind time. it is very similar to the old versions of pop before pop 4 2008 which was quite out of place. to be honest if you want a real review on the gameplay in detail, your better off, googling it and going on game websites and there reviews because i'm know reviewer,i'm just a gamer who enjoyed this game. The DRMIT WORKS! the DRM stops piracy! why? well i've read some articles on this issue and it shows that if you priate this game, you can't complete over 30% of the game ... something about one fo the gates won't open and is riddled with bugs, not due to the game. this clearly shows after 20 days after release, people who wanted to buy this game would buy it and people who just wanted to play it but who are fans pop would buy it and people who don't buy games, just wait for fixes. the difference is that the people who pirate but is a fan of pop actually BUY it. is the DRM bad? NO it requires an internet connection, i'm sorry but as i recall almost everyone in the Uk has internet so the problem of this DRM has been over hyped ... ( if you want figures google it and be amazed and the V. high % of people with internet) the DRM works flawlessly and allows game transfers as well from old pc to new pc.The bug: now this is the part where POP needs a patch soon. to change the graphics settings, you need to edit the registry, its quite simple to do if you know what your doing and had experience, this didn't effect me so it was a piece of pie but for unexperienced users, would struggle. Please note: this only effects some people, my friend has the game and has no trouble changing the graphics settings.

Having played all of the Prince Of Persia games since Sands Of Time, I was pleased that The Forgotten Sands has returned to the formula that made the series great, lots of long platforming sections, interspersed with combat vs hordes of enemies and the occasional boss fight. The combat is quite basic compared to The Sands Of Time, Warrior Within and The Two Thrones, the huge array of moves you could carry out has been replaced by just a handful, the combat moves are upgradable in an rpg, xp point accumulation fashion. Although the combat is quite basic it is fun and satisfying slaying through the hordes of enemies the game throws at you, at times the numbers of enemies on screen are huge but the game retains a good framerate despite this, even at the busiest times the game runs smoothly.Graphically the game is attractive without pushing any boundaries, various shades of brown dominate the colour palette as you would probably expect from a game with magical sands as part of theme. The much criticised Ubisoft DRM is a downside as it requires you to be constantly connected to the internet to play, I'm not a fan of this style of DRM but i'm not so opposed that i'll avoid buying and playing games that I enjoy because of its prescence, it's annoying but not a game breaker, once connected and in game you hardly know it's there. All in all The Forgotten Sands is a solid addition to the POP series, it does nothing new but the game is fun and although the combat may offer little challenge,it is still fun and satisfying, some of the platforming sections are tricky and some may require repeated attempts to clear but frustration in this game is rare. Recommended to fans of the series and newcomers alike.

If you are into the prince of persia games, you will love this one for sure! Fabulously enjoyable, free-flowing gameplay and storyline. Its far better than the previous prince of persia game for xbox360 and ps3, which is (kinda) good too but still kind of silly like an animated cartoon. Not like this one! No way! This ones way better and I seriously feel the best of the series so far and not to be missed at all if you like the prince of persia games. This one is true to the style of the other games from before such as Prince of persia the twin thrones, has that beautiful, original prince of persia feel, stunning graphics, most amazing scenery, background music and non over-exadurated flair, finally and at long last brought back to prince of persia fans in an awesome and unmissable new sequel for ps3 and xbox360.

I bought this for my son after I took him to see the movie of the sands of Time. I have played it a few times now and I find it rather refreshing that a game developer/publisher has the confidence to return to the side scrolling format. The graphics are excellent and it scores highly on the pick up and play axis. Not many games can boast that these days. As a casual gamer that is really important to me. I don't have the time or the inclination to wade through complicated instruction manuals. My son is far more of a game geek than I am and he likes the game for the same reasons that I do. For those looking for a way to pass a few hours taking time out from a busy work and home life you coulddo a lot worse than buy this retro playing gem.

It's a fun game to play on the DS. This game is compatable with the DSi. Althought the game is little lived, it is rather enjoyable. As you progress through the game the Merchant sells upgrades for your life bar, sword and sand slots. There are various types of armour that you can buy. The graphics on the game are pretty decent. out of 10, i'd give the game around 7/10
