I just wanted to give an update on my review (below) which i posted in the early days of buying FIFA 11.as i mentioned previously, i have always been a PES fan, and never found myself getting into FIFA despite the poor offerings of PES on the PS3.so, this year i changed to FIFA and after a week or two i still wasn't convinced, and came close to returning fifa in favour of this years PES. However, i (after some nagging from my 8yr old who thought FIFA was great) decided to stick with it, and give it a proper chance - after all, there's always next year when FIFA and PES square up again.i am now a few seasons into the career mode, having decided to go with the player option, and to add a bit of fun into it (to try and make the most of all the options available) i created the virtual pro, and later went online and played around with the game face. maybe i did something wrong, but when i downloaded the game face to the game, it doesn't appear to have applied it to the virtual pro ??? it is there at the bottom of the screen, but not on the virtual pro. oh well, not really an issue, but made me wonder why i'd wasted my time doing it.ok, so career mode player. i like it, it's a good idea, work your way into the team, develop your pro's game etc etc, but for my sins, i'm a torquay supporter, so of course started with them, in Div2, and promptly won promotion to Div1. great. then you get offers to transfer away, or stay with the current team, so i stayed, and played another season, and then another..................now here is where i am starting to get a bit bored. i've played three seasons, at the end of which offers come in to move to another team, but in those three seasons, my team have not bought or sold one player. no changes. on my current season, my top scorer has been injured, and will be out for a few months, and was in transfer window when this happened, but still no new players came in. maybe this is because i'm playing for a small team with no budget (like in real life), but this has made the game a bit samey.one of the things i liked most on the PES games was the master league, taking a team of no-hopers to the top and bringing in the likes of messi, rooney etc etc, to assemble a squad of world class players. while i realise getting torquay into the championship is not going to attract the aforementioned messi and rooney to join my team, why has NOTHING changed ???? maybe if i was playing as man utd or chelsea, this might be different, but i don't want to be man utd or chelsea. i want to take torquay to the top and attract the top players (come on, it's never going to happen in the real world, so let me enjoy this fantasy version !!).the gameplay is good once you get used to it, and more so for me, get used to the differences between FIFA and PES.However :-tackling can be a nightmare at times. i often feel i've won the tackle, only for the ball to bounce back out to the opposition, and retaining possession from a tackle more often than not favours the computer team, which can become frustrating, especially if you're one down in the last few minutes and you just need the ball !!!!shooting can be slightly unpredictable, as can one-on-ones, while long shots are usually a waste of time.when the goalkeeper saves your shot (or you hit the woodwork) your forwards never seem to get on the end of any rebound. your highlighted player always seems to be the bloke miles away who's watching a plane fly overhead, so by the time you select the closer player, the chance has long gone.passing is pretty fluid, and players mostly seem to hold enough intelligence to find space and move around to give you enough passing options.maybe the problems i've been having with shooting etc is a reflection of the skill level of the players in my team, but whilst man for man, i wouldn't expect my team to hammer barcelona, but in the real world, lower league players are just as capable of hitting the target from more than 18yards, less frequently maybe, but even sunday morning park teams can hit the target occasionally, but i don't think i've scored more than a couple of goals from outside the box in the three seasons i've played. AND i've never been awarded a penalty.so, it seems there are a lot of good things about this game, so i've moved my score up from 3 stars to 4, but due to the things i've mentioned, it will never get to 5 stars.i would be interested to know if players of the "better" teams have the same issues as me as i don't think i'll be trying it out for myself - unless my pro gets signed up by one of the big sides of course.all in all, this is definitely a good footy game, and i would recommend it to anyone like me who was uncertain about switching from PES, but next year, i will be looking at the reviews again to see if it is safe to return to PES !!!OLD/PREVIOUS REVIEW :-My first encounter with any FIFA game, was many moons back on the megadrive, and at the time, there was not much in the way of competition, so i was more than happy with just having a football game available. Then the Playstation joined the family, followed by the PS2, and FIFA was quickly blown out the water by Pro Evolution, and once i'd got my hands on that, FIFA never got another look in.In more recent times, since owning a PS3, i, like thousands of others, have been disappointed with every PES offering for the PS3, but continued to buy it, in the hope they would get it right. Along the way, i even tried FIFA, as all the reviews said how much better it was than PES, but despite it's apparent superiority, i just couldn't get into FIFA.Having spoken to friends who shared the same PES v FIFA views as me, many of whom changed to FIFA10 last year while i stuck with the awful PES10, i decided this was the year to give FIFA another go. And you know what ? I STILL can't get into FIFA. there is just something in the gameplay, the camera view/angle, i don't know, just something that doesn't seem right to me.Yes, FIFA looks great, the commentary is excellent, and the licenses etc etc give you a full football package, but it still doesn't click with me. I am REALLY trying to get into it, i keep thinking there is something wrong with me - everyone else seems to like FIFA, even my "ex-PES" mates, but i just don't like it. Even my 8yr old son is getting into it, but i can't.so, to summarise, i am going to trade in FIFA for the new PES, as after a few plays, i liked the demo, and i love the master league in PES, but more importantly, even when it was bad (last few years), it still felt more "football" than FIFA.FIFA11 is not a bad game, but for a seasoned PES fan, it's just not what i want, and if you are in the same boat as me, a PES fan considering the change to FIFA, you'll know what i mean. I will report back when i have traded for PES to reveal if i made the right decision or not !!

Whereas FIFA 10 was something of a 'refinement' for its predecessor, EA's latest outing has taken things to another level as pretty much all the gameplay has seen attention. As a package, FIFA 11 is, in short, the game I've been hoping for for many years. OK - It would be foolish to say its "perfect" (as is done almost every year), but it has taken everything that was great about '10, ditched everything that was annoying (such as the horrible dark menus) and consolidated it into a wonderful package that feels made for the football fan.GAMEPLAY:[+] New player animations leave behind the robotic feel of past FIFA games, differentiating every aspect of player movement; from jostling with other players,to the way they control balls under different kinds of pressure. Every player appears to have his own unique 'feel' on the ball, from their running style to the way they turn on the spot. You simply have to play it to understand what a more authentic experience this is.[+] Distribution has been improved dramatically. Making contact with the ball looks more realistic (as is the follow through), but most importantly, the actual action see's the ball move about more life-like with bobbles and bends even on short passes. Whats more, the ball is no longer passed directly to the players feet at the pin-point centre; there is variation in how it travels and where it ends up. This means you can no longer 'ping-pong' the ball - more attention is required to placing passes. Players stretch and even control awkward balls with seemingly real energy. Players can even control the ball into different directions with fantastic variation, meaning one-twos require precision.[+] Shooting is more challenging, but the new animations allow for more varied ways of placing the ball into the goal without need for additional button-bashing. FIFA 11 has opted that players 'ping' the ball, rather than following through quite slowly as was on FIFA 10. This means you can get shots away quicker, and the kicking styles that go in to the shots are far more lifelike. The chances of ridiculous 45 yard goals are incredibly slim, if that was what your friends had a habit of mastering...[+/-] FIFA 11 includes a new 'Handball' option that lets you turn this offense either On or Off. It's a fantastic idea and certainly works, but its also certainly not perfect. You can be booked or game play will be stopped for 'Handballs' that are called without even a replay. It does not take into account "ball-to-hand", which is a perfectly legal outcome of real football. This means that if you, say, place a Free-kick into the defending wall, any contact with a hand is deemed a foul, as is bobbling balls during a slide-tackle.[+] 'Be A Goalkeeper': Certainly not for the faint hearted, but it provides for a very entertaining method of gameplay. This is playable both Online and in its own game-mode.[-] Slide tackling is so/so, but I imagine practice makes perfect. FIFA 11 has different slide animations depending on your speed, so you don't magically "snap in" even when you're jogging as was the case of FIFA 10. Just be careful of the picky referees, who now even have names.[+/-] Commentary has been barely updated, but includes some nice new references. Carlos Tevez is also no longer a 'Bulldog' (not surprisingly)[-] Replays are still the same. In this department, I strongly feel PES has the upper-hand as its replays are simply brilliant - very authentic and, most importantly, at a smooth frame-rate. FIFA's replays and cut scenes are all too often at a slow frame-rate and can stutter quite a lot, whilst not having the same 'broadcast' feel as PES. Time for EA to update.FEATURES:[+] Career Mode is just wonderful. Completely revamped and offering an unprecedented amount of information about your clubs fortunes; from contact with P.R, to the latest news headlines (fabricated in game). The menus are a slicker, cleaner, and everything is clearer too. In fact, there are simply too many new attributes to list; i'd suggest going to the EA website for all the new information.[+/-] Custom Soundtracks from your PS3's Hard Drive, though ironically, the one game that finally allows you to play your own music actually has, for the first time since 2003, a listenable built in soundtrack! If you do choose your own music, I would suggest making a new 'Playlist' from the Music section of your XMB menu, then selecting that Playlist in game. Only downside is that you cant control what songs to play when navigating the menus - its pot luck.[+] Virtual Pro Mode has had further updates, and the new layout of Accomplishments is very nice. Whats more, various Attributes are now available to unlock as you progress, which is enhanced from FIFA 10 as it means you have to work that bit more.[+] 'Billboard' on the main-menu compares your stats with your friends. This is a fantastic feature if you play regularly with those you know and provides some funny competition as you can scroll across various pieces of information - from your fastest goals, to what Trophies you've recently earned.IN SHORT...The problem each year is that there is simply too much to talk about, and its difficult to do so without waffling on. No doubt future reviews will only back up or add to my thoughts, but as it stands, FIFA 11 is without a doubt the best I've yet to play between 2000 and 2010 (after-all, FIFA '98 was a classic!). It seems to capture the spirit of everything we've come to love from the EA series, and its plainly obvious the people upstairs have listened to everyones feedback, for just about every section of the game will get you thinking how neat an addition it is. Sure, there a few minor niggles and i've only seen a few glitches so far when the loading screen appears before a Match, but these are little things what will no doubt be patched. Whats more, it trumps FIFA 10 in terms of authenticity and feel of gameplay, which no doubt results in a better appreciation when you score good goals. All I would say on a final note is that the customer shouldn't be fooled into taking 'First Game Perspectives', as the many other number of reviewers have done so here, and often with poor spelling/factual errors. It takes time to adjust to FIFA each year, and '11 is no exception. In an ideal world, the perfect football game would contain elements from both PES and FIFA, but this just isn't going to happen. At least not soon...Fantastic game at a descent price - worth the upgrade by a mile.

Fifa has always been a cornerstone of EA Sports with a constant stream of updated games every year keeping the cash flow coming in. Since it's jump from PS2 to PS3, Fifa has seen massive improvements over the years tackling many different things from ping pong passing to better AI in goalkeepers. Fifa 11 is by far the biggest jump for EA sports with a title that finally epitomises what a football game should be, albeit with a few hiccups here and there. The graphics aren't that much more improved from the previous game but with the brand new animations and more emphasis on realistic goalkeepers, the player models are very detailed and its easy to see who you're playing as.The overhauled menu is a welcome change and looks a lot smoother than Fifa 10.The career mode has seen a massive change this year with the Be A Pro and Manager options moulded into one comprehensive career with even the ability to be a player-manager which is a combination of both careers and definately my recommendation for an all round unique experience. The biggest flaw with this mode in Fifa 10 was the unrealistic take on a) transfers and b) unrealistic results. All too often a team like Wigan Athletic would be top of the premier league and Man Utd would be mid-table due to the ease of buying players solely based on money. This has all changed in Fifa 11 with much more emphasis on realistic transfer deals (sorry but Gerrard won't sign for Morecambe!). This welcome change has pleased fans and in turn has resulted in a lot more realistic results and a more enjoyable experience.Virtual Pro returns and hasn't changed much from Fifa 10 which is fine as this area of the game is deep and involving. Virtual Pro is a game enhancer in which you create your own player, assign a certain number of attributes and then compete in games to unlock more achievements. This isn't just a tacky add-on as unlocking achievements work towards improving your player so the more factor really plays a part here. The online element of Fifa is a mixed bag as on the one hand the options are extensive featuring 11 VS 11 for the first time and the usual ranked matches. There's enough here for fans to play right up until Fifa 12 is released later this year. On the other hand, the players who are playing online ruin the experience by disconnecting from the server when they're losing 1-0 and although it has been promised by EA Sports that this would count towards a win, in my opinion, it isn't strict enough and bans really need to be implemented for players that continue to spam online by disconnecting every time they go a goal down. The music in-game has a real 'Fifa' flow with the usual mixed bag of tunes, all of which will have you humming after a couple of months of playing. The sound effects are also top notch with this years edition really feeling like you're involved in a football match with some brilliant crowd chants and appropriate noises to accompany them. For example, after taking a 3-0 lead at home against an opponent, if you string some passes together a 'Wahey' will accompany you leading to some satisfying passing play.If the music and crowd chants begin to annoy you, the ability to import your own is another big edition to Fifa 11 and really does help bring another level of immersion to this title with the options limitless in this department. Want Insomnia by Faithless to play when you score a goal? Done. Want 'You'll never walk alone' to play during the match for Liverpool? Also a done deal. This level of creativity will please fans and new players alike. The commentary, although still very good, hasn't been changed much since Fifa 10 and the team of Andy Gray and Martin Tyler is beginning to become tedious and monotonous. There's only so many times you can hear 'If you don't hit the target, you're never gonna score.' from Andy Gray every year before you think there must be a change. Although the commentary is the best from any sports sim out there, for a game this huge and for so many improvements this year, it's a shame that changing the commentary team isn't one of them. The ability to Be A Goalkeeper this year is a fantastic addition and although it can sometimes be a tedious task, the option is very much welcome. The passing has also been changed in this year's game with distribution determined by how long you hold down the pass button. This might sound like a less realistic take on the game but rest assured the passing feels spot on and even playing as the lower league teams, the passing is still as ripe as ever and passing a through ball at the right time through the heart of a defence has never been so satisfying as it is here. The Personality Plus feature is new this year and is basically a feature that highlights the strengths of each player and plays according to that. For example, Rooney will have the Shooting Ability thus meaning he is very good at shooting etc. It feels like it has a lot of room for manoeuvre with the star players moulded accordingly but some of the players in the lower leagues just feel unbalanced. Hopefully Fifa 12 will tackle these issues.Fifa 11 is a massive game and this year Fifa doesn't feel like another money grabbing title and has improved everything from Fifa 10 and gone beyond the call of duty to deliver a fantastic sporting and gaming experience. The graphics aren't that much more improved from Fifa 10 and the online play is frustrating at times but the game play has come tenfold from the previous game. If you're looking for the best football game out there on the next gen consoles, Fifa 11 is the number 1 choice.

Since Fifa 2005 the Fifa series has arguably been the premier soccer game for fans worldwide. It has for a decade always outsold its adversary, Pro Evolution, but it hasn't always in the critics eyes had the best gameplay. Fast forward to Fifa 11 and its safe to say this is the very best football game of all time, somehow surpassing the previous entry to the series.GameplayThe game is certainly the most challenging Football Game of all time, never have i needed to focus for the full 90minutes, as a second of complacency will be punished by the ruthless A.I. The 360 degree dribbling returns and has improved from the last game, giving you ultimate control of talented players on the ball such as Messi,Ronaldinho and Ronaldo. What has been added to the gameplay is "pro passing" which unlike previous games, is less assisted and requires the player to be more accurate in direction and accuracy, and adds a layer of challenge to the game. Initially it is very annoying but as you get used to it you realise it is a welcoming addition to the gameplay. The goalkeepers have vastly improved, gone are the days of them looking to the heavens as a lobbed shot floats over them as in Fifa 10, now i have only scored 3 lobs in over 400 matches. The better the keeper, the better his positioning, awareness and reactivity, all in all it adds to the challenge. Arguably the best addition to the game is player personality traits. For example, notable players like Ronaldo and Messi have their trademark running style. Players of note are attributed traits, for example players like Xavi are giving the trait of playmaker, so they are good in creating attacking opportunities, or players like Dzeko are tremendous at headers, and are given the trait power headers. It adds individuality to traditionally team game and allows players to know their players strengths and from there figure out the best way to utilise them in game. The shooting mechanics are as fantastic as ever, and super strikes are rare yet satisfying when they go in. All skills imaginable are added to the game, and while it requires training to be able to execute them in-game, it adds flair to an already tremendous package. Overall the Gameplay is near perfect-9.5/10Game ModesManager Mode returns and is improved from the previous Game. Be a Pro mode and Manager mode have been submerged into Career mode, so you can pick to be either player, manager or player-manager. Manager mode has improved in that transfer are rather life like, as you have to negotiate with the club then the player for personal terms, it makes transfers more enjoyable and reminds me of Football Manager. The biggest addition is the ability to play as the goalkeeper, and it is a very unique experience as it requires 100% focus, especially during times when action is coming your way, infact it can test your patience at times, but nonetheless it is a noteworthy addition and adds an extra dimension in terms of ways to experience and enjoy the game. Modes such as tournement mode returns and so does fifa lounge mode, neither with any notable improvements. There is so much depth in the game, if your a football fan this will no doubt do you all the way till the next fifa game in august-9/10Online ModesThis is where the game truly excels. Ultimate team mode is a tremendous card game take on the manager mode, and is a highly enjoyable and unique experience, and is probably the best and most satisfying mode in the whole game. The tradition ranked and player matches return, and the match lobby has improved in that there is a time-limit to pick your team line up. The actual action runs equally as smoothly as single player and i have experienced minimal lag. It is probably one of the most challenging games online, even though like all games certain gameplay elementa can be exploited. In fifa 09 it was speed, in fifa 10 it was strength and lobbed goals and now in this game it is 1-2s and lobbed passes. Its fustrating to see so many players resorting to it. Online teams is probably the best online only mode as you create your own team and invite players to join, and taking on other teams online for tournements and rankings. Its satisfying as you and your team gain trust and chemistry, learning each others strength and weaknesses and working as a unit, just like real football. There are also online leagues you can create, the critically acclaimed Fifa Interactive World Cup in which the worlds best play to qualify for the ultimate fifa challenge in spain i believe(for a cash prize aswel). All in all it is virtually perfect, so much to do and adds unbelievable depth to an already robust game-10/10GraphicsTremendous, notable player models such as Rooney, Kaka and Oezil look almost life like, players are built identically to their real life counterparts, rooney is rather large, Drogba muscular while people like Di Maria are slender. The Stadiums look fantastic, especially Wembley, Old Trafford and the Nou Camp, the fans look very good. All in all while not the greatest in terms of graphics, it is certainly amongst the best in sports games.NegativesSome gameplay elements like lobbed passes get exploited online, the manager mode, while good, is still yet it reach that fantastic level. Theres not many negatives to the gameOverallIs it the perfect game? Hell no, but it is as good as a gaming package as you will get this year. If your a football fan all your favourite teams are here, all licensed, so many modes, and if you have online, it will be hard to put down this gameFinal Verdict-9/10

It's that time of year again when football fans wordwide get treated to the latest FIFA game from EA Sports. This year, FIFA 11 promises to be the biggest and best of the series so far but what can we expect that is any different from previous versions?FIFA 11 is released with the slogan 'We are 11'. This does not relate to the age as FIFA 11 is actually the 19th FIFA game in the series. What it does mean though is that you can now play as all 11 members of the teams. In previous versions the 'Be a pro' mode, both online and offline allowed you to take control of an outfield team player meaning that you could have 20 players competing in one game which was immense fun. Now in FIFA 11,you can also opt to be a goalkeeper in these game modes which will increase the potential number of players in one game to 22.Being a goalkeeper is not as tedious as it may sound. If you think that most of the game will pass you by, you would be wrong. The keeper in FIFA 11 can call out instructions to his team mates about positioning and which players to mark. In the offline game, the defensive players will react to these instructions although in the online game, you can still call out instructions but it is down to the other players as to whether they obey them, just like in real life. When playing as goalkeeper, an arrow will appear on the ground to give you some kind of indication as to where you should be standing to give you the best chance of making a save. When the arrow turns green, you are in the optimum position at that moment in time. Making saves initially will take some practise but once you have mastered it you will soon be producing world class saves.Passing has also had a revamp. In FIFA 10, EA Sports introduced the 360 degree player movement and passing system. This has been tweaked so that now the game players accuracy, combined with the stats of the on-screen player on the ball are all taken into account to determine whether a pass reaches its intended destination or not. The really does force the player to strive to improve as, when playing online, the gamers ability now has a lot more bearing on the outcome of the match, rather than the team they choose.Career mode in FIFA 11 has also been drastically changed from previous versions. There is no longer a 'Be a pro' or a 'manager' mode, instead, these have been merged together and rebranded as 'career mode'. In this mode you get the choice of being either a player, a manager or a player manager. Each game lasts for 15 seasons and the aim of the game is to get from reserve team football at your chosen club, right up to the heights of international football. A lot of time and effort has gone into massively improving this section of the game and EA Sports are now starting to get the balance right between the arcade style match and the artificial intelligence of the transfers and other interactions of the manager mode. The match engine is very similar to that used in FIFA 10 with the exception of the new passing model metioned earlier. The game flows beautifully and the commentary from the legendary Martin Tyler and Andy Gray only serves to enhance the playing experience. If you are awarded a penalty kick during a game or indeed, in a shootout, you will quickly need to adapt to the new shooting style. You now get a slider going from left to right on the screen and your aim is to stop this as close to the middle as possible. The further away from the middle you are, the less accurate your shot will be. This is a real difficult skill to master and in the first few games you play, be prepared to fail miserably from the spot, it really is that hard.FIFA, traditionally is one of the most popular online games released each year and FIFA 11 is no different. It is amazing how the game can run so smoothly when 22 players are all doing their own thing in such a small area. Occasionally the game will lag but these lapses can be attributed to individual user's connections and not to the design of the game. 11 v 11 online play is such fun to play and if you can muster up enough of your friends you can even start your own team to play against other groups of players online. If 1 v 1 play is more to your liking, the standard match is also available online, just like in FIFA 10. With leaderboards to monitor your online progress, both worldwide and between your friends, there really is something for everyone to get excited about. Each year, EA Sports always seem to manage to take the series to the next level when improvements just don't seem possible. FIFA 11 is a must for anyones collection, irregardless if you own FIFA 10 or not. It will be interesting to see what new features are planned for FIFA 12 as on this showing, there doesn't appear to be a great deal more that can be done.

Early days, but so far I have to say FIFA 11 has fulfilled every single requirement to go on to become one of the great footballing games in history. Now in this review, I will mainly focus on the much revamped Career Mode, where an awful lot of the redevelopment of the game has happened. It is definately NOT just an upgrade to FIFA 10 - this is one of the more radical shakeups of recent times to EA Sports favourite footballing game. But before I go onto that, let me give you a quick overview of my judgement on other parts of the game. Firstly, the actual pitch action. Graphics are very impressive yet again, although if you have played FIFA 10 you will feel right at home - nothing much has changed here other than some slight upgrades in order to make the whole experience when playing feel a touch slicker. That's no bad thing in my view - FIFA 10 had great graphics and so the minor touches to make this even better just make a good gameplay experience even better. The tempo of the game, as other reviews you will read will verify, is a touch slower than last year, but actually makes it feel even more lifelike after you get used to it. Certainly not a drawback. Menus have been slightly redone on the game, much lighter backgrounds used to give the game a more cheerful feeling, which again, I like. Also a slightly minor, but significant point for me, is you can now import your own music into the game, which means you don't have to worry about music you're not that keen on playing - play the game with your favourite tracks beating out at the same time!Anyway, the Career mode. Here's the changes I've picked up on so far (note: only manager mode),- The biggest, which arguably allows all the others, is the fact that the time-passing mechninism for the game has totally been revamped. Before you went from 'game to game', only getting 1 'slot' inbetween to deal with transfers and your squad. Now it's done on a calender basis, whereby if any issues come up on a day to day basis that require your attention you get put back into the hub menu to deal with them e.g. transfers that need to be signed off, renewals of player contracts etc. This means no more 'rushing through transfers' due to the fact the Spanish league starts in September for example. People who have had this problem before will know what I mean!- The transfer system is much more realistic in general. Loans have been completely revamped. The players in real life that are out on loan are really that in the game - out on loan. Thus, at the start you have the option either to recall them if you wish, or keep them out on loan. You also have the choice of a short term loan (3mths) or a year long loan. Handy for lower league sides! The prices of players seem much better too, while you have to negotiate with the club and agree a fee for a player before then moving onto the actual contract side of things with the player himself. Only after agreeing both of these can you actually sign a player, giving it a much better feel.- The board is your key to everything generally. So the emails they send you and the ones you send back are the main way of communication in the game, but cover a much wider base of things than in previous games. They actually give you a proper contract with a weekly wage (which is totalled as you progress in your career).- Also, you can look at other leagues going on around the world other than your own - and theres a lot of them. This means you feel far more immersed in the experience, as it truly does feel like the football world is going on around you, rather than simply the one league where your team is playing. Plus, it allows you to keep track of who may be promoted to your league for the next season. There is plenty more as well, but I'm too tired from playing it to think of any more stuff right now!But I wholeheartedly recommend the game - at the current price, you really won't regret it.As I said at the start, it has the potential to become a classic.

So it's another year and another FIFA game.I have played every single addition of FIFA since 1996, I have always been an avid Football fan and so these were the games in which I could fulfil my desire to play as the best players in the world. So then lets talk about EA's game this year, well I will start of by saying that this is the best one yet, its seems that every year all they do is make minor changes to the formula set out years ago and release it, however this years game seems to be a lot more polished a lot more fast paced and a lot more fun.The visuals have been overly improved as with every new addition, certain superstars have almost lifelike appearances but the more unknown category of pro's look a bit like generic dummy's,Team kits look great and adding the improved textures and visuals really make you feel like you can reach out and feel the material they are made with. The pitches look great, from sun beaten and finely cut grass, to a snowy covered winter lawn or end of season worn field makes you feel like there is some serious football being played there.Animation also are much improved this year, its a lot more believable in which the way players move around the pitch, there is more shot animations, header animations, passing, celebrations, skill moves and they all add to the realism of the sport. The Career mode has been revamped; you can now choose weather to undertake you career as either a player, manager or player-manager, each with its own differences. In player mode you can either play with your created pro or an existing footballer, you get picked by the manager and work your way up eventually to the clubs captain, although I must voice my frustration over the fact when once you become a key player in the squad, your manager with play you every game, now this may seem good, but if your pro doesn't have the sufficient stamina required, then you spend most games knackered! However there are various accomplishments for your pro to tuck into to, and you find the first season or so is full of end of game accomplishments, then you really have to knuckle down and work towards them. Eventually you will get to a point where the only way for your pro to progress is to do the Gold accomplishments, to achieve them you either have to play on line, or on at least World Class difficulty, it seems a shame for the game not to cater towards the more casual of players, it basically means that if your not very good at the game, your pro wont progress much. Not good.I have been playing on World Class for a while now at this is the biggest downside of the game. It seems that the computer AI makes almost inhuman moves with the ball and all that you do is ending up fowling them, you can play a team of much lower class players only to find that they will still outrun everyone of the current Barcelona team? Seems strange how the difficulty can affect individual player's stats. High difficulty games are most frustrating time I've had playing this game.Online I great and competitive as usual, although I have only played 10 or so matches it seems to be a great addition, the various mode you can play such as head to head, vs friends. There is also Pro clubs, this is where you take your pro and join a club with your friends pro's, its fantastic fun.Overall this is a really great addition to the series and arguably the best one yet, its not without its minor flaws but they should in no way hinder your choice to purchase it. Brilliant Game!

I've been a fan of football games for a long time - mainly because I am much much better at the games than in real life :pThis year's FIFA 11 is the best FIFA game I have ever played with few irritations. The gameplay is fantastic and although you don't see much change from year to year, there was a massive change in the feel of the game when they brought out FIFA World Cup 2010. From FIFA 10 to FIFA 11 the game feels now much more solid as a game with the players' passing, shooting and especially heading greatly improved. FIFA 11 is a passing game much like all other FIFA games in which it is much better to work as a team than try and take the ball past the entire opposition including the goalkeeper. It is very balanced apart from if you are a great team against a really bad team. Despite the overwhelmingly larger stats you have it seems that players on an nPower League 2 team can keep up with the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid. I find this very bizzare when all I wanted to do was have a particularly piece of cake match. Balanced a bit too much I reckon..As for the modes in the game they're standard with a twist. Career mode is now a selection of choosing what type of career you're going to have.Player - This means you are playing for yourself, you can choose to play as your virtual pro or selected football player or you can play as the whole team but ultimately it's your player who you are trying get a good rating for in each match to become a key player, a captain and maybe even a legend.Player Manager - In addition to above, you also control the team management in this mode.Manager - Even though you can add your player to the squad you are only out to become a 5 star manager, buying players and winning cups is your goal. The career mode comes with the biggest problem I have with this game and that is the wait in between matches. You have to wait for everything to be simulated each day of the week - made worse if you are in the transfer month.Online is much the same to any other FIFA game where you choose to play a match, and more often than not you or your opposition will disconnect - it is honestly not because one is losing but because the players connection does just stop. Taking your virtual pro online is great if you have a lot of other virtual pros on your team but if not you have a bog standard team with one virtual pro.Now for the part of the game which really dragged me back again and again. The addition of FREE Ultimate Team. This is where you trade cards and buy packs of cards of football players to create your own team of the players you want. You probably won't manage to get a 90+ rated player as the prices of those cards are extremely high and extremely rare to get in packs however the fun is in the collecting money to buy new players, buy new contracts and win cups online or offline against other ultimate teams or standard teams. This is a great addition and one which many people enjoy.Overall this FIFA surprised me with how much I played on it. I kept coming back for Ultimate Team and to progress with my virtual pro. The trophies on the game are quite doable but very long winded. If you don't have FIFA 11 yet, I'd say buy it even though there is obviously another one coming early October - but that's more than 4 months away! So plenty of time to play. However for the money conscious amongst you, just wait. Next year's FIFA just like the last will be an improvement non-the-less.

Maybe the expectations for this game were too high for myself and other people after reading various critic reviews but having said that, I still believe this is a quality game.A lot of people say that the AI is far too hard, through balls are almost impossible to make and scoring goals are far from easy resulting in a lot of 0-0's or scrappy 1-0's. I found this to be accurate and do struggle BUT this has only been the case for me after being promoted from league 2 with Southend to League 1 after the first season. My first season saw a couple of high 6-0's, 4-0's, 2-0 loses and a few draws on the Professional difficulty. I agree, the 0-0's after 16 shots on target can become infuriating because you're not doing anything wrong or different, the keeper just keeps saving EVERYTHING! But it also prevents the constant winning every game, winning every cup, winning every league, boring, boring, boring so I like the fact I'm a couple of months into my second season, fighting for a spot in the playoffs and not just winning all the time. It's also not every single game, I still came out scoring 2 or 3 in a game and I think this is the first Fifa that I've not won a cup in my first year and I've just been knocked out of the st johnstone's trophy to Leyton Orient in my second! It's harder and feels much, much more rewarding when/if you do actually win something. I like it but some may not!Against friends and playing online is great! Lots of high scoring games and the 11vs11 is fantastic fun! Playing the ball about and picking out passes is definitely easier because the AI is very strict with man marking and tactical awareness compared to us humans who run around like headless chickens trying to grab the ball and close players down, which obviously creates more attacking opportunities. Not too sure if others are experiencing this but once a match on my game it freezes for a few seconds then carries on! I have a 120gb slim about 2 months old so wouldn't expect it to be that but may find a patch comes out soon to rectify this but we'll see. Also, when I make a substitution at half time, the player I've taken off is shown running onto the pitch... Very strange, not a big issue but lazy programming if you ask me! Again, a patch may be released. To sum it up, this game is great but probably won't be that fun for the people who want to win everything on the career mode because the AI is stricter in defence and tougher to score against. A tip, which I find helps a lot, is to use the one-two move (hold L1 then press X to pass) which sends players on quicker runs into space. I never used to use this in previous versions, tried it out on the new Fifa and find it works a treat sometimes. Get used to the shooting and you can score some great goals but like real football, it's more than likely to be rare and not in every game you play. It is impossible to please everyone; Make it easy it's repetitive and boring, make it hard it's just plain frustrating but remember, you can drop the difficulty level to win everything or keep it higher to keep it challenging, which previous Fifas lacked I felt. I could win everything on World Class last year, now Professional seems to be the tip of my difficulty level I feel and will be a struggle. I do recommend purchasing this game.

Fifa 11 is quite simply Fifa 10, but better. As with most yearly updates Fifa 11 focuses more on minor improvements than game-changing overhauls (for massive overhauls gone horribly wrong- see PES 2011). The "major" updates this year are Creation Centre, Career mode, more life-like player models and of course tweaked gameplay (such as better keepers, smarter AI especially in defence, and more freedom in passing, moving and shooting).-Creation Centre let's you create your own teams and players to use in exhibition games and private head-to-head matches. Unfortunately Creation Centre is extremely limited in the options available. You can't customise player faces or your team's crest and kit, which means every team and player looks almost identical bar basic block colours, and very out-of-place amongst the licensed teams of Fifa. Also, why this is only available via the EA website and wasn't added to the game is baffling.-Career mode is a much-improved Manager mode merged with the Be A Pro career mode, meaning you can be a player manager. It's much less buggy the last year and the mode's interface is a big step up from Fifa 10. This year there are news stories about teams and transfers and league tables from all around the world (the in-game world that is). It's all very nice but it is quite shallow. The news doesn't really add anything new and only says what you already know. Also this year's mode has ditched the youth-scouting system and the opportunity to invest in things like better facilities. These losses are disappointing but remember this isn't Football Manager, so scouting or not, depth in managerial aspects is one thing Fifa has never had.-Player-models are only marginally better, like all the other things in this game. But the changes they have made are very welcome. Better lighting, better weather effects, and more individual styles for both players and teams are much appreciated.-The gameplay definitely feels different to Fifa 10. At first it feels too slow, but you'll soon get used to it, although you might want to tweak the auto-assist settings to give you more control. The changes this year are a subtle but big improvement. The more-realistic passing and movement allows for a more flexible game to suit any style of play. Goalkeepers are no longer daredevils that rush out at the earliest opportunity, and there's more freedom to mix-up your play. For example, Arsenal play like Arsenal. Short, smart passing and lots of tap-ins. Whereas Liverpool plays like Liverpool. Long-balls, long-shots, deep defending. It's subtle, but it's better than Fifa 10.The bottom line is if you liked Fifa 10, but were frustrated by bugs and slightly limited gameplay (i.e. lobbing equals winning) then this is a well worthwhile upgrade. However, it will likely take you a while to adjust, and you should remember that depth of customisation is as poor as ever. Don't let Creation Centre fool you otherwise.

I'll start from the basics:Graphics.I must admit the graphics arent amazing, but are good enough I suppose only and only a slight difference on FIFA 10. The animation of the players is slight awkward in regards to the running motion and reminds me of PES slightly, which isnt a good thing. Team entrances and celebrations look very good and on a whole the visual aspect of the game is good.Modes.The new be a Goal Keeper mode is very good (in parts) however, I played a few games as the GK some online and others as a Be a GK Pro. I found that I spent a lot of time just watching the match and had only to make a handful of saves, dare I say its very boring for parts of the game, but very exciting when you're called into action. The controls are very simple and I spend a lot of time just playing in the arena which was a lot of fun. I suppose standing around waiting for something to happen was to be expected. Still fun though.Player/Manager ModesNot played these areas a lot but from what I have played it's pretty standard, other than the fact that you can start as a player and have a whole footballing career from Player through to player manager and finishing up as a manager. Not spent a lot of time on this mode so far so I cant really give a valid comment.Online.Same as usual, everyone is either Real Madrid or Barcelona. I've had 5 games so far and been 5 different teams, lost 2 won 3. With the new gameplay system the games seem a lot more evenly matcched.Custom Audio.I love this part, I downloaded some classic Fulham chants and its works amazingly whilst playing the game. ZAMORA songs, and some jibes about Chelsea all sound very realistic. Definatley worth a play with.GameplayWell, I'm still very undecided. I wouldnt like to compare it to FIFA 10 as to me it feels like a whole new game. The passing system seems to be the biggest change. Its so much harder and quick breaks seem almost impossible. The pace of the game has slowed down a lot too, even though you can speed it up, I tend to play online so im stuck with the default settings. You have a lot less time on the ball before you're closed down, which I think is something you will just get use to. The game seems now to be a lot more focused on build up play, and tatics rather than ping pong balling. I play with wingers and cut in or cross and I dont seem to have an issue with that on this, I'm just not getting any where near the amount of chances as I did on FIFA 10.On a whole the game is very good, and will take a lot of getting use to compared to FIFA 10. In all honesty its not as good as I thought it would be, but I said that about FIFA 10 and after a few weeks thought it was the best Football game I'd ever played. My adive would be to buy it, although its harder teh rewards are greater once you come to grips with the new gameplay.

as with most FIFA's it always has one bug in it that seem to leap out more than the positive features, last year it was the ability for opponents on-line to quit matches and have no repercussions. This year its the 'Be a Goalkeeper', in real life i love being a keeper but i wonder if EA know that occasionally u have to make saves and someone eventually scores for your team. I just think that this mode could have been exclusive to on-line team mode or pro clubs and saved up to space for another league or cup or something. Its just that the players when you have no control over them just run around like headless chickens, they make bad passes and and even if you use the buttons to instruct them where to pass they still dont do it properly or kick the ball hard enough, your strikers dont shoot, your defenders dont let them (the oppostions) shoot, and this means that if u make a hash of a cross and concede or just want to get your match rating up its impossible to do so (i've even put it on legendary difficulty to see if it was the AI settings which were causing it. your manager (if u are just the player) is as thick as 2 short planks, he doesn't change the balance of play if ur winning or losing and he makes bad subs. Your team doesnt make transfers like in fifa 10 so other teams are getting stronger while you have to suffer, there is no natural growth or AI to the game outside of the match as far as your team is concerned.Let me give you an example i have chosen rotherham (its same with good teams as well) as my team and my virtual; pro as my keeper, i am just the player not player manager, i have played 26 matches none of them simmed i have drawn (0-0) in 22 of the games, lost 1 on pens (also 0-0 full time score)won 1 on pens (u guessed it 0-0 after full time)and lost 2 games 1-0 each (at start of season nobodies perfect lol), so lets summarise that's 24 clean sheets and i have just got an e-mail from my coach sayin that my ratings have not been good enough (average 6.0) so they are dropping me to the reserves.but graphics and effort cant be beat, thats why i have given this game a rating of 5 stars but only 3 for fun. never thought i'd say that about fifa.

As a Pro Evo fanatic for the last 7 years or so, I have never even considered buying FIFA until FIFA 11 came out. In October, I bought the new Pro and didn't love it as I normally do. I found the shooting frustrating, the lack of advantages played a nuisance and the repetitive commentary extremely irritating. I was reluctant to purchase FIFA 11 but upon hearing great reviews from fellow Pro/FIFA converters - I decided to buy it after it was on special offer on Amazon*.Once the game arrived and I got used to the controls, I was addicted. It is brilliant. Although the game play is near perfection and extremely free flowing, it is the online game modes which have really made it stand out from the crowd. The 'My FIFA 11' section in the game, allows users to track their FIFA 11 progress/achievements, compete online against friends/random opponents and best of all; set up something called an Ultimate Team.FIFA 11's Ultimate Team is extremely addictive. It is based fully online and you are given a totally random team and players to compete with when starting up. The idea of the Ultimate Team is to create...The Ulimate Team. You have the ability to earn 'coins' through online tournaments and games to buy/trade new players, kits, stadiums among other things for your club. Ultimate Team is very meticulous and you have to ensure that the players you pick for your squads (you can have a number of squads), all get on and have a strong chemistry together. It does take time to build up your team and earn coins so if you have a partner, then you should probably warn them beforehand if you are going to endulge yourself in this experience! Ultimate Team is like nothing else I have experienced or played before and it is very competitive when you are playing online and bidding for items. EA Sports have created a mode which is well worth buying the game alone for. However, even if you do not want to dedicate most of your life/time to Ultimate Team - FIFA 11 is packed full of game modes anyway and you will find yourself never getting bored.FIFA 11 is footballing perfection. Buy it now.*I was not paid commission by Amazon for this plug!

I never thought that EA could improve on FIFA 10. For me, it was the best footy game around. People can say that FIFA is better than PES or vice versa but for me, I'd rather stick with a franchise I know.I've been buying FIFA games since FIFA International Soccer came out on the Super Nintendo (anyone else remember that?). Apart from one or two dissapointments (ahem...FIFA 64!!!) I've never been let down by EA.FIFA 11 is the latest of the long running franchise and for me, it's a breath of fresh air. Admittedly, there are not much differences between FIFA 10 & 11. But the changes that have occured can be noticed.Players react like they do in real life (still no fake dives from Drogba though...sorry Chelsea fans).Manager mode has been re-vamped and you can now choose to be a Player-Manager which is something I was looking forward to. You can also choose to become a Goalkeeper. That may not be to everyone's tastes I understand. What would you rather do? Stand between two sticks for 90 minutes or run around at the other end scoring goals? But being a goalkeeper for my local team, I thought it was a nice addition. The point is that EA have given you, the player, a CHOICE! And perfecting those Schmeichel-like diving saves can be a challenging task.Another addition is the ability to add your own chants and songs to the game. One of the things that made me love FIFA over PES is the soundtracks. Over the years there have been some amazing songs on FIFA. Most of the songs I would probably never have heard if it hadn't been for playing the game. Some complain because the same song may be repeated over and over again. Again, EA have given you the CHOICE. If you like the soundtrack then stick with it...if not, stick some Nirvana or Elvis Presley on...whichever takes your fancy!PES and FIFA fans can argue till the cows come home over which one is better. For me, PES has been too 'arcade' like and not much of a true football simulation. And for a bit, I really did try to like it. It just made me want to grab my copy of FIFA.If you want a football game, get PES. If you want a true football experience, get FIFA 11.

This game is frustrating and refreshing in equal measure. The very changes they have made to try and get rid of the problems from fifa 10, they seem to concentrate on too much and this causes problems for the new game. For instance amazing keeping and invincible defenders. The keeping for me seems to be ridiculously hard, i have played fifa a lot since fifa 08 and would say im not bad at the game. As i have moved onto each fifa title I have progressed from semi pro, professional to world class on fifa 10. Im back to semi pro having been frustrated with the lack of goals or even opportunities you get playing at higher levels.I have played through a season at professional level, but it doesn't matter how quick your winger or forward are they will be caught by all defenders and if you manage to get away from them the goalkeeper will save it every time.My point, they have increased the difficulty of taking on a defender so much so that the game becomes a defensive nightmare! They seem to make these drastic amendments to show the "community" they are listening and giving people what they want but the result is a complaint that they have gone to far.Good point, get John Carew in and put some crosses in as scoring from crosses has now been made easier! Some have highlighted poor AI players on your team not passing and running down blind alleys. I have experienced this is one game and totally agree, the other 5 or so the AI has been fine. The solution is to play as a player/manager and control the whole team, playing as you desire.Final point, love the little touches players now make to control the ball. Passing is better for me than fifa 10, although they call it 360 degree but the controllers only recognise 8 directions of passing? if you have 2 players quite close together it nearly always goes to the player you are trying not to pass to because he's being marked, whilst the other option would have put you through on goal!good game, EA just don't go so overboard on your "improvements" and you will make a more rounded game.
