ok so this game is aimed for children, i was dubious when i opened it up on christmas day, but.....i like itas when i first started playing it i was like this is easy, but then i realised there is a lot more to the game..you have to find the meanings for the different symbols on the compass, while you are completing certain tasks which are listed in the journal and are crossed out in the journal once completed...Not only do you play as lyra the main charecters but sometimes you have to use some of Pans other shapes to help you through the game (this is fun) and also you get to use Iorek too.i think it does require a certain amount of skill and occasional thought as it is really easy to notnotice some things in the game...like for example i turned the bath on in the flat and then it took me a while to find the plug stopper for the simple reason i rushed through the level before finishing the objectives...bad points are that you cant check your progress for each stage unless your booting the game up so you dont know whether you have finally found everything on the level until you boot up the next time.. you have to finish the level before you turn it off as there is no extra save option while playing.if you get stuck and your sure you have done what is requested there are no more clues to help....overall though i am enjoying playing it and i think it will take me a bit to complete it, which of course gives you value for money.

I loved "The Golden Compass (Wii)" I have it, and have been playing it for about a week. The graphics are fine for the Wii, though obviously the system can't hope to reproduce the graphics in some of the high-end games for the PS3 and Xbox 360 Consoles. The gameplay will get slightly tiresome after a while, and the combat options as Iorek Byrnison (the armored bear) are very shallow. Don't get me wrong, this is a great game, and while playing as Lyra, your options are extensive. Game play as Lyra revolves around a series of mini games and running around doing tasks. The integration of Pan in the game is fabulous. You can switch him into 4 different forms, each with a special ability, using a tap of the direction pad. When Lyra needs to manipulate someone into doing something for her, or not stopping her from continuing on to do something, she will talk to the person, and the screen will split in half. One half will show Lyra, and whoever she is talking to, and the other will show a mini game. How well Lyra lies and negotiates depends on your prowess in the mini games.Lyra also engages in evasion contests, where an enemy will charge her, and you will have to wave the Wiimote, or press buttons as they appear on the screen. If you complete the cinteractive sequence, Lyra will successfully dodge her opponent's charge.

in case you've seen my other reviews for DS games and thought I hate them all.The graphics really aren't bad considering the size of screens and the platform. The game play is also not to bad and the plot is good and long enough to keep you going for quite some while. Even when finished you can go back for extra hidden bits or try levels at a harder setting. On the downs, Sometime manouvers require too much precision and then the collision detection with enemies is more rough. Mrs Coulters golden monkey appears too often. Using the altheomometre (sp) is fun for a while then too repetative. Need to be able to simply select a pattern you know and have it auto dialled.

I bought this game from Amazon and it was really cheap so I didn't expect much from the game. However, it turned out to be great fun and it used alot of the features of the Wii.It is definetly a game for hardcore gamers, but I think it would be ideal for someone aged from 5-11, because the game requires you to use your head at some parts. It also has quite a few cut-scenes of clips from the movie (starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig).

There are many different challenges with this game. They range from fighting, skills with the controls and mental challenges. I bought it for my 8 year old daughter, but I seem to play it mostly. When I get to a point where I can't get further she has the skills with the controls to get me through. I am usually better with the mental skills. All in all it is very enjoyable, even though sometimes frustrating. Well worth the money.

This is a really good game and can get addictive because you have to keep going through the levels and you can collect all sorts of things that can help you on your journey. I am ten years old and have enjoyed playing it loads. My brother, who is 6, also loves the game and it is not too difficult for him (with just a bit of help). I recommend this game to children aged 6 and over. We have spent many happy hours playing it.

Won in a raffle, unopened. My 9 yr old.loves it.Convoluted, parts 1 and 2 of the game bear little to do with part 3, and all to tot up some scores at the end. Bizarre. Confusing. But entertaining and great to see him REASONING and THINKING about his moves.Certainly not even a contender for best game ever, but for what it is, it's okay.Plus we invented a cut down "travel version" using just the 'Lyra ' cards.

My son bought this for himself after seeing the film. Usually I would steer away from games of films as they disappoint! BUT this game definately didn't do that! I personally wasn't impressed by the film and therefore would say the game is 100% better than it! The control were easy to master and game play was interesting and moved at a good pace. Would definately recommend purchasing

I got this game free with my Wii and a few people said it was a rubbish game. Well I've been playing it non stop for a couple of days and its fun! It doesn't take itself too seriously and follows the films plot carefully. It uses the Wii's controllers well and is addictive!!!! I would say to people buy it and give it a chance!

This is an awesome game, so many levels and lots to do, puzzles to solve, things to collect. The graphics were very good too. I enjoyed this so much and its for all ages (I'm in my late 30's!!) I was only sad when it was finished as I wanted to play more! I hope they make more of the Golden Compass series....

This is a Great action packed adventure game. It has kept me occupied for many hours and it is very addictive. If you love action and adventure games, then this one should be in your arsenal.

Something like the Narnia games but definitely makes you think so for the more cleverer gamers about. Does not have a lot of prompts like other games so you have to work out the next moves
