Buy this game now. Don't think, just do it, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I've always been a fan of the PoP series, right from the earliest 2d ones, but this game is unlike anything I've ever played. It would be enough to just be able to leap around with the speed and agility the Prince can, swinging from ropes, jumping from ledges, avoiding traps, clinging to edges etc. But the fun doesn't stop there, oh no. In The Sands of Time there are many new additions to what the Prince can do, which will surprise even the most avid PoP fan. These range from balancing on beams, swinging on poles, running ALONG walls and up them, and much much more, which will keep surprising you throughout the game. But it doesn't stop there either. Now I'm a big fan of the GTA series, and the cars and missions are done so well, but let's face it, when it comes to firing guns it's not so great. This is where PoP does no fall down. You'd think that with so much time spent on the moves and acrobatics that the sword fighting wouldn't be up to much, but it is possibly one of the best parts of the game. I've done this game three times, and it still surprises me how much you can do in sword fighting. Moves such as rebounding off walls, vaulting over enemies, blocking, counter-blocking and counter-countering (no joke) coupled with the stylish camera angles make every fight seem like part of a film. There is also a perfect balance of fighting and platform stuff, so that there is always an enjoyable battle just round the corner, but not so much that it become boring.Another BIG part of what make The Sands of Time so great is the graphics. Every location is beautifully crafted, and the lighting engine is unlike anything I've ever seen, every landscape looks like it's straight out of a painting. The locations are also very varied, they can go from the outdoor ruins of a palace to a subterranean cave to the outside ridiculously tall tower to the stunningly detailed interior of a grand library. The Prince and all his foes are stunning, I suggest you look up some screenshots somewhere to fully appreciate what I'm talking about.Surprisingly for a game like this, the storyline and characters are very good. The banter spoken between the prince and his companion of consequence Farah is sometimes quite amusing, and fairly well acted, especially as it's not a large part of the game. The storyline is quite linear, which I think is a good thing as it keeps you in constant supply of interesting landscapes, and also keeps to the classic PoP type of storyline. And finally, we come to the most creative part of the game, the dagger of time. This is a brilliant idea, and I'm very surprised it hasn't been done before. Seeing the prince fall to his doom onto some spikes then hitting shift and watching the tragic event fly back in reverse until you are safe again is so satisfying. On top of that, there are many thing you can do with it during battle, such as slowing down time, freezing an enemy in mid-air then slicing him in two down the middle, or simply stopping time itself and whizzing round the room killing all your enemies in one hit. But that isn't to say that the dagger makes the game too easy, it most certainly doesn't. The way you use the sand means that every ability is limited so that it makes the game challenging, but not so much that you can only use the dagger once in a blue moon. You also get the dagger very early on in the game, just after you've got to grips with the basics, which is very satisfying. It's not like Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast where you have to trudge through several levels at the start before you get the lightsaber and force powers,.And the dagger certainly won't help you solve any puzzles. Often the puzzles are simple as 'how am I going to get up/over/down there?' or use a series of levers and switches to open doors, but sometimes you will be faced with moving mirrors about in order to get a beam of light to bouncing in a particular direction. There is also a very creative puzzle halfway through, which will have even the brainiest puzzlers puzzled. Whatever it is, it adds an element of thought into the game. All in all this game scores 10/10 for all aspects. Even the linear storyline has an EXCELLENT twist at the end, I think it is possibly my favourite and the most satisfying ending I have ever seen in a game. Please buy this game, there is no way that you will not enjoy it.

Prince of Persia has been a very long-running franchise and one of the most idiosyncratic one among the action-adventure crowds because of its exotic setting. While the story may not impress at the very first because it really takes the entire 'time series' to understand what the universe is all about, and to fully acquaint the characters. But it is the very idea of 'time bending' that makes this one of the best action adventures ever made, and the best in the PoP franchise after its 3D transition.Basically this game is a linear experience with lots of platforming and monster-fighting, both of which are incredibly well executed. Though the platforming is not difficult if you compare it to Tomb Raider,it offers a very slick control and gorgeous-looking acrobatic movements of the Prince rendered in a seamless, graceful and rich animation, which flows like honey.Puzzles are mostly mechanism or physics based, and only at occasions require some conscientious brain works, but they're never easy to the point of being mindless and the difficulty is rather well balanced by the way in which they're structured - such as the many steps you take to solve each, which are always offering diversity and re-freshness due to the excellent designs, not to mention the light-and-mirrors puzzle at the later stage is so marvelous that it has you awed. What is the most amazing about the gameplay mechanics is the time-bending technique that Prince possesses. You can use it to not only slow down time, but also rewind time by a limited extent, and it is also well implemented into many puzzles and will come in handy for some battles against robust enemies. The graphics is an awesomeness beyond the words. It was excessively technically advanced that it proved to stand the test of time and still manages to be appealing nowadays. Especially the lighting effects, combined with a deeply saturated and colourful dreamworld that vitually absorbs you to its world full of sumptuous decorations and grandiose constructions, are so sweet, artistic and gratifying. To sum up, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a must-play for action-adventure fans and also anyone keen on exotic fantasies. Graphically it also happened to be the best one in the 'time' series, which is quite ironic but a very conspicuous truth. So if you've played the two sequels and love them, you will definitely love this more.

Ok, so Sands of Time has been out for years. I played/completed it half a decade ago. But I still want to write this review. Why? Well, because, quite simply, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is the best computer game that has ever been made!It is incredible when you are playing it and unforgettable once you have completed it.This game is special, truly. It has a central character who is very real, very believable and quite simply amazing. The Prince is, without a doubt, the best computer game character ever created... And Farah's better than most lead characters in any other game! Moreover, The Sands of Time is an enthralling story. Playing it is like living in a great book.It completely immerses the player. If that wasn't enough, the soundtrack is supmtuous. It captures the mood of the game faultlessly, and bests even the greatest film soundtracks for sheer majesty and power.Action, adventure, mystery, romance...this game has it all. It is, essentially, perfect. Is it too difficult? The simple answer is no. It is a genuinely involving, and quite rightly challenging, game. It rewards the dedicated player. The puzzles are as important as the fighting, and the story is as rich and magnificent as the visuals. This is a masterpiece. One of a kind in the world of computer games. If you do not own this game, buy it. If you have not played this game, play it. If you have not completed this game, go back and complete it! If you own this game and have completed it, play it again! It's only a computer game though, right...? WRONG! It is the PRINCE OF PERSIA!!! It is THE Prince of Persia. Play it and believe!!!

This is a wonderful game. It looks beautiful (the system requirements specifically say that the Geforce 4 MX is NOT supported, so don't pay much attention to the 1 star reviewers who complain because they have an unsupported graphics card). There are few sights in gaming that compare to the panaromic view of the landscape you get as you make your way up a huge tower at the end of the game, with the sunset filtering through the clouds. The game isn't the longest one around, but if it were made longer for the sake of it it'd become tedious. It's the right length, all things considered. People have complained about the control system and the camera - well, the camera position does change as you move around, but the transitions are almost always smooth enough for this not to be an issue. There are a couple of times when it jumps suddenly leaving you momentarily disorientated, but that's a minor glitch that doesn't detract from the overall brilliance of the game. As for the controls, I didn't have any problems with them using my keyboard, but if you did have problems then you may find a joypad easier to use given the console origins of the game.I'd conclude by saying that this game is a tremendous experience, and you shouldn't pass it by.

The prince of Persia: Sands of Time is, in my opinion, among the most playable game of all time! The playability, as you go through the Princes story bit by bit, is astonashing especially when it comes to fighting. There arsonal of matrix-like moves you can use on your opponents and once you have gained the dagger of time it becomes even better! The game has an added bonus with the ability to rewind time up to ten seconds ago, reclaiming life resurrecting him when he dies! Slowiung down time and freezing it is also availible once you get far enough.A large majority of the game also consists of controlling the prince through maze-like areas in crumbling palaces and the like.Traps are there to catch you out together with timed doors. And to help you with it all the prince has a number of movessuch as running up and along walls, jumping over large gaps, climbing up pillars, swinging on poles and grabbing hold of the unlikleyest of hand holds! The graphics are thrilling, almost up to Halo standards. It almost feels like your in the world, but not quite. And they only way to get a feel of this is to buy it yourself. A recommended game from me!!

This game is brilliant! Go and buy this game and have hours of fun and adventure! The storyline is intriguing, the graphics are fantastic and the prince's fighting tactics and acrobatic moves are majestic (Running 90 degrees over cavernous drops, and jumping up between two walls etc..). I especially enjoyed fighting the enemies as there are so many cool moves, such as vaulting over an enemies head and whacking them from behind, rebounding off a wall and over their head etc.. and sometimes the move is played in slow motion which makes it even more exciting to watch and play. The rewind is an ingenious feature which helps you in big fights and when you make silly mistakes. The game can also be quite funny in places when the Prince and Farah make sarcastic comments to one another. There are also thought provoking puzzles scattered throughout which are stimulating and the Middle eastern music is excellent and adds to the excitement of the game. The only annoying thing is that you can only save at allocated places and sometimes these can be few and far between. Overall this game is 10/10 and I can't wait to play the sequel 'Warrior Within'.

The Prince of Persia on the PC is very entertaining although at times very frustrating game to play. The game's graphics are stunning and the environments are rich and very well detailed. The prince's combat moves are also very fluid and easy to pick up so there's plenty of good combat action. One of the best things about the game is its unique feature, the rewind action, where the prince can rewind his own death using his sacred dagger, this proves handy in many situations. However for myself it has to be said THE most frustrating part of this game is in trying to pull off the wall jump move. This move took me quite a while to pull off properly and in later parts of the games can become EXTREMELY annnoying. Also an additional flaw in the game is you cannot save the game at any time either, which would save you a lot of time in having to repeat sections of the game over and over (in which you could probably finish another game off in the time it takes to complete!). Those gripes aside however this is a very enjoyable game with plenty of Tomb Raider/Onimusha style puzzle combat moments to be had.

In short: awesome game, stunning graphics, great gameplay. And since you have probably read enough about these things, I'll focus on the two issues that bother me:1: Dialogues. The volume on the dialogue is too low compared to the other effects. I missed quite some conversation, because I have the volume set to normal levels during normal gameplay and fighting scenes, and I missed quite a bit of the talks between the prince and Farah. Not a big gameplay issue.2: Walljumping down. There are (so far in my experience) two occasions where the prince must walljump downwards, which I find extremely difficult. The first occasion was right after a savepoint and with a full compliment of sand tanks,so I could try 5 times before reloading the saved game, and it took me a lot of tries to get down in one piece. The second time (in the chapter "Climbing the tower of dawn") the walljump sequence is a few minutes after the last savepoint and no rewind available, and it's becoming very frustrating. But these two things are about the only not-so-good issues I had with the game. And I still give it 5 stars.

it takes a really good game for me to play more than a couple of levels. fantastically original, brilliant action... remember to learn to fight with jumping and bouncing off walls, it makes for great combat.i think that decent geforce 3/4 is strict minimum for this game...i'm playinbg on a radeon 9700 pro at 1280 x 960 with lots of aa/af, and the graphics are decently impressive.9/10 from an fussy old fogey like me.the atmosphere is second to none, jumping around persian forts walls, sumptuous interiors, dungeons, baths, indoor waterfalls and stalactactite caves. voicing and dubbing far above average quality. excellent characters and zombies.

I recently played a demo of this game. At first I thought it seemed a little shabby and too simple, but after playing through the demo once I played it three times more... then I ordered it for £9.99 (including VAT and P&P) from [...]Well, in terms of the gameplay iteself, Ubisoft did very well indeed. Battle is just like the Matrix back in time (and its still pretty decent if you're no matrix fan). The storyline is a little drab but the efficient Graphics engine and excellent moves (such as running along walls, swinging on poles and slo-mo vaulting e.t.c) make up for it. As for my rating.... I'll go for 5 stars. 5 well-deserved ones.

10.2.2004

To put it simply, this is a great game, if you want a slice of console action on the PC.Yeah the combat is simple, but it's the exploration that'll keep you playing.Ok, it's tough and there are no quick saves...tough, quick saves kill tention and destroy atmosphere. All in all this is a top little action game (with obligatory dodgy camera) that's well worth your money. But a joypad makes all the difference, If you don't have one, now is the time to buy.I found some sections almost impossible on keyboard.

prince of persia is a damn good game. a breath of fresh air for all those who are stifled and bored with first person shooters. this game has got great graphics, nice manuevers, and a smooth and intuitive combat system. the only gripe i have is that there is no quick save, but because you can rewind time its not massively neccesary. all in all 5/5!

My daughter thought this game was action packed and a lot of fun,it is about a Prince on a quest for a magic dagger. She says it has amazing visual effects, challenging puzzles and shaolin monk fighting skills. She really enjoys this game and rates it 5 / 5.
