Now that Black Ops has been out for almost 3 weeks and we've all had enough time to make our minds up about it I thought I'd give my opinion of it for those of you who thought it best to wait before buying. All in all Black Ops is a great package. You have a decent campaign, more COD online with new maps, weapons, modes and a new levelling system, and more multiplayer (or solo) zombies. In total you have anywhere between hours to months of playtime for your money so it's certainly not short of value.Of course you have to enjoy it to want to have that much time out of it so that's the real question...is it any good?Well yes it is but it's not quite up to expectations of those who thought that MW2 was really a defining point not only in war games, but in online gaming in general. In my opinion MW2 captured all that is great about online gaming. Infinity Ward just seem to understand exactly what their target audience are looking for. Though the campaign was not as ground breaking as COD4, it was still excellent, but the multiplayer and Special OPs really made the game and kept me playing for much longer than the 6-8hours of campaign time (or 12-16 if like me you played it twice to do it on veteran as well).Black Ops is not the same game. Obvious really given it's different time setting, different title, and different developer. But if you are looking for a natural progression on from MW2 then you won't find it here. I never played the whole of WAW but many people say it's more akin to that the the MW games. To start with it doesn't look as good, despite what many other people seem to be claiming. The graphics are good, but MW had a much crisper look to it that has not been captured here, and many of the colours seem overdone and too contrasting. It all still looks very much COD, but it's a step back from MW 1&2, particularly in the cut scenes of the campaign which is where I think it really suffers. Where MW2 looked like a movie blockbuster in between missions, BO just looks like a game trying to look good with limited resources. I don't know if Treyarch have limited resources, but it certainly seems that they have less talent or money in the art/effects department.I've seen many other reviews saying that BO has the best COD story so far. That my be so, but I still found it badly explained and didn't manage to pick it all up first time around. Though I wouldn't make too much of a criticism of that as that could be down to my poor attention span and just wanting to keep shooting rather than watch extended cut scenes, some of which are too long.On the whole the gameplay is fairly similar to MW2 and other COD games. The only really noticeable difference I've found is that you seem to move more slowly and your character feels a bit more cumbersome than they did on MW. But it still plays great and the controls (having not changed at all) are still excellent. One issue I do have with the single player is that the AI seem somewhat less intelligent than they did before. So many times I found myself trying to aim at the enemy or get in the best position to do so, but a friendly was standing right in the way blocking me from doing so. Or I would be crouching behind cover with all the friendlies, and enemy NPC's would just run kamikazee run straight into you. Granted there was a little of this in MW but not in the blindly stupid manner that they seem to do it in BO.My other main issue with the campaign was how easily I finished it. COD4 was a real challenge towards the end and some parts really had me tearing my hair out trying to find the best way to complete it. BO is much easier and there doesn't seem to be much of a build up at the end. I was really hoping for a huge stand off battle but it's no more dramatic than some of the other missions in the game. I guess the story didn't call for it but then what's the point if there's no real climax at the end? Still, it was fun on the whole and there's enough variation and cool set pieces to keep you playing to the end.As it's so huge I could talk about the multiplayer for hours. But as most of you will already know what to expect then I would say it's just what you expect, with a few differences. The introduction of COD points to buy your perks and weapon upgrades is the main one and it's certainly good for those players who hated having to wait to level 30 or whatever to unlock the ninja perk. However I would say I still preferred the old way as it really rewarded you for reaching the higher levels. The other new additions are modes like the wager matches, which are actually really good fun, though you have to win about 50 of them to actually reap any reward from doing them, and the combat training which is great for anyone who likes playing online but hates getting destroyed everytime they do. You can just play the maps and modes with AI or your friends and you can set the difficulty to suit your ability. The fact that you can also play split screen online is a massive plus for me as it means the end of turn taking when you have a mate round, so long as you have two Xbox live profiles. The only other point I feel needs touching on is the sound. Guns sound weak in this game, particularly the chopper gunner sounds as you'll notice when you start online and get shot endlessly by those guys. It's not a deal breaker but it's certainly a bit disappointing when you're shooting at someone with a badass assault rifle and it sounds like a BB gun. The melee sound is possibly the worst, as half the time you can't even tell if it's worked just from listening.I could go on but this review is turning into an essay already so I'll leave you with my final summary.-Decent graphics but not as good as Battlefield BC2 or Modern Warfare 2.-Poor sound of weapons and melee attacks-More weapons including crossbows and new killstreaks-Split screen online and new modes are great-Slower and poorer AI.-Short but decent campaign although a bit easy.-New zombie modes are also coolGameplay - 8.5/10-Same great COD but bit slowerPresentation - 7.5/10-Not as slick as MWGraphics - 7.5/10-Not as good as last years CODSound 6.5/10-Weaker than expectedLasting appeal - 9/10-Campaign won't keep you playing but zombies and online willTOTAL - 7.8/10-Good but not groundbreaking. I'll be back on MW2 in a few months.

Okay, everyone put down your guns for 5 seconds & take a breath!.. I fear that during the "Yes it's Great" & the "No it's terrible" conflict, the game isn't able to get a fair chance. I think this is because some people are comparing Black-Ops to the Modern Warfare series. That's probably not the best thing to do as this is made by Treyarch not Infinity Ward. Therefore it's going to be more like World At War than anything else: Seeing as this was Treyarch too. I actually love this game, but then I loved World At War, which is also in my collection. Unlike Infinity Ward, Treyarch games are quite brutal. They're dark & brooding, focusing heavilly on the death, real war produces.Grenades remove limbs & big guns splatter blood all over. Hell, even the way the chemical weapons kill people sees you almost feel sorry for enemies caught in it. I think they're like Modern Warfare's vampire goth, horror movie obsessed older sister or something!Gameplay & Storyline:It's been said that Black-Ops lacks originality. Okay, maybe in some ways yes, but in others I think they've added a few variations here & there. During the campaign missions it's not just full on warzone as one minute your in Cuba on an assasination mission, next your trying to escape a Russian gulag & then trying to take a hill in Vietnam. The Campaign is driven by a pretty good storyline - (if maybe a little convoluted here & there) - where your character Alex Mason is being forced to relive memories about top secret missions during an elaborate interogation, trying to uncover the truth about these mysterious numbers stuck in Mason's head. The guns and the environments are all unique to the time period & help create that: "Cuban Missile Crisis" era perfectly. Also, if you feel that there's a lack of Vietnam games on the PS3, Black-Op's can give you a smidgin of satisfaction here & there. I will say that during the campaign, sometimes it's not always made clear what your trying to achieve. Often I have failed after apparently abandoning my squad because I didn't know you had to follow them on a specific route. The Russian gulag while firing the harpoon at the helicopter is a prime example of this. It says wait for the perfect moment to fire, but nothing let's you know when that is. But then again maybe I'm just dense!Graphics & Sound:The graphics on Black-Ops are very good. The faces of the characters show wrinkles, stubble, glints of sweat & even go someway to express genuine emotion. Obviously not exactly, your brain still tells you it's not real, but then sometimes you find yourself wondering. The environments are excellent! I was knocked back by simple things, like churned up mud at a Marine camp in Vietnam; how the water gathered in the tire tracks & footprints, looked almost real. On one mission during the campaign your sprayed by a chemical weapon which sees your character put on a Hazmat suit. During this battle your suit takes damage instead of your body, so you really have to use cover as when your hit, it doesn't regenerate. As cracks in the glass appear you really begin to worry, seeing as your surrounded by this thick orange gas that kills instantly. All this really drags your senses into the game. Sound wise, the voice acting is stellar! Gary Oldman's back as Sgt Reznov (World At War) as well as actors like Ice Cube, Ed Harris & Sam Worthington delivering superb dialogue just as it should be. It's clear a lot of effort was put into creating realistic environments.Zombies:Yes, they're back & better than ever. The Zombie Nazi's games on World At War were great. So much so that even people who didn't like the main game, bought it for these extra games. I will simply say, if you loved Nazi Zombies you'll love these new versions just as much!Online Multiplayer:Hey, it's Call Of Duty! You know what it's all about. Just more of the same great online action. Would you really want them to change it too much? Currently the map packs are still quite pricey. My Final Thought:Black Ops to me is a beleaguered contender. Fighting the COD fight with all the rest but always being victimised for it. "Same Old Same Old!" they say. Well, good job! I love COD games & all that familiarity is what makes them great. If like me, your a big fan of World At War, then you'll love Black-Ops. If you prefer Modern Warfare then try before you buy. However, if your one of those people who wants something totally different?... Then go purchase from a different franchise altogether!

It's just more of the same, isn't it? Well, not entirley...This review is being written from the point of view of someone who doesn't take CoD too seriously but just likes a quick blast now and then (and isn't above screaming at the TV in fits of frustration!). I get my kicks from Battlefield mainly, but to each his own.I prefer the multiplayer of this one as I like a mode called "Barebones" mode. It basically means you have nothing but your weapon and wits. No attachments, killstreaks or perks. It feels purer with just a gun in your hand and not the controls to a radio controlled car bomb. Even when stripped down, it still feels like a competent shooter and is the way I will probably play this game from now on.This mode is surely going to appeal to the purists or, indeed, Battlefield fans. To those of you feeling sick of being blown apart by an AC-130, tactically nuked or Predator missiled: rejoice. Barebones is hopefully a mode here to stay.Secondly, the facial animations have improved greatly. I just wanted to shoot Soap through his stupid dead eyes in the last game, his face just irritated me for some reason. The characters in this one, especially Woods, seem far more believable, to look at, at least. It's a joy to hear Gary Oldman again, and Ed Harris and what's-his-chops from Avatar. They did excellent work on the voice acting. Playing as Hudson (Harris) in one part of the campaign just felt very cool, like his performance in The Rock. In fact, the campaign itself is quite good, it's mad like the others, but feels a little too much like you're on rails the whole time. Especially having to follow someone from beginning to end, it feels too much like they are holding your hand through it. Having said that, there are some nice touches and set pieces throughout. Just don't expect a technical excercise in unscripted AI and level design. The traditional sense of urgency pervades the campaign, which is probably why these games feel short (although this one seemed to last longer than the others, taking me four sittings to complete on Hard), as you whip through it in clouds of smoke and hails of gunfire. It is a wargame after all, feeling essentially like a historical battles best of compilation. The levels seem quite richly detailed, but fairly non-interactive and linear. No matter how much I pumped this TV full of bullets, I couldn't turn the damn thing off. I couldn't even destroy the melons! But I guess you aren't meant to. Killjoys...If you have a hard time deciding which is better: MW2, WaW or Black Ops, then we have a problem. Not that there is an obvious clear winner, but hesitating on this decision means there is such a chronic lack of difference between them. I know I can't pick a favourite. Wouldn't it be better for Activision to invest in a multiplayer client and give us map packs? What's the point of creating a full game when they could just give us an expansion pack? It's an almost identical engine, after all. They're the WoW guys, they do it all the time with that game. Plus, it splits the communities. I want to see a definitive CoD dedicated multiplyer client with all the maps from MW1 upwards. It would sell like hotcakes.Another problem I have with CoD is how closed it is. It has the potential to be the LittleBigPlanet of online shooters. So much potential for user-created tomfoolery, but perhaps Acti will acknowledge this in the future. This game is just alright. I find it a little insulting the developers insist on telling me how to do everything instead of letting me work things out for myself, but I did find the gameplay and narrative exciting and engaging, albeit for a short while. I still prefer MW1's campaign, mainly because that's the first CoD game I ever played and the tanker level did, quite genuinely, blow me away for the only time in this series. And Treyarch do bring the fun, what with Zombie mode (there are some priceless one-liners in this) and a few other little treats hidden away in there, but there have been 3 games since MW1, and this one just doesn't have the same clout, mainly because it feels like I have been here too many times before. 3.5 stars, 7 out of 10.

First of all i am sick of seeing all the one star reviews, i mean would it really sell this well if it was bad? NO, you guys are just haters of a great game and need to get a life. None of the major game copmanys gave it a 1 star they all said it was a great game, so stop hating. Now to the review:Well, what can I say another year and another Call Of Duty game, and this year Treyarch are the developers, Call of Duty Black Ops is the name and i can start this off by saying this is definitely one of the best games i own, and definitely is up there as one of the best COD games.CampaignThe campaign is very different this time around as it is memories and flashbacks,it clocks in at around 10-12 hours long which is a solid length for a campaign unlike MW2, the levels are varied and are fun, it had probably the best storyline out of the series, I wont go in depth about the main storyline as it may spoil it for some, but i can say this it has a variety of environments E.G. jungle, snow, desert and locations: Vietnam, Africa, america, the pentagon etc, also you get to pilot alot of vehicles like motorbikes, helicopters. There are some annoying factors though such as its can be tedious going back to the past and present, and if you dont move up to a certain point, the enemies will just keep coming, you can't just kill everyone and move up, you have to kill then run before more enemies come. This will make it much harder on Veteran. Overall campaign is a blast and you would be an idiot not to try it.MultiplayerThe Multiplayer is back is Black Ops and is better than ever, it is fun epic and intense, it may feel familiar but that is a good thing. You have your basic modes, like Team death match, free for all etc, and it is now level 50 to prestige. The guns and attachments feel the same, but with different names there is a good number of them to, the attachments are sorta the same, but are more old fashioned as this game is set in the 60's. There is a whole new system that you will either love or hate: COD Points. Instead of just unlocking the guns and attachments, well you still do that but once you have unlocked them you have to buy equipment with the points you earn, which makes it harder to get better weapons, attachments, perks. You earn points for completing challenges, like in Halo Reach, and for doing well in games. There are also new game modes such as wager matches where you place a bet in COD points and 1st,2nd and 3rd get the points (1st gets more and so on. These matches are varied from having one bullet in a revolver, 3 lives and a knife to, weapons cycling, and weapons getting better as you do better yourself. There is also a mode called Combat Training which is pretty much online multiplayer but you have AI teammates and enemies, this is fun and is good training before you go online. Although Combat training only has 2 game modes: team death match and free for all, and you have to have a gold membership to play it even though you are not playing online with anyone!?!?, though you can play with people online in combat training. Multiplayer is very familiar in game play but they cant do much to change that without ruining it, it has a lot of tweaks and upgrades that make it one of the main reasons to buy Black Ops.ZombiesAhhh... zombies the massive hit in COD WaW is back at is a blast, there is not much to say about it as it is so simple, fight of endless waves of zombies. Some of the maps you play on are amazing like the Pentagon with a awesome cutscene with Nixon, Kennedy, McNamara and Castro. You play as one of these men, and the stuff they say is extremely funny. There are other maps as well, and this time around there are more than zombies lurking around these dark halls...Overall Black Ops is a must have for all COD fans: EPIC Campaign, Fun Multiplayer, and Awesome Zombies, Black Ops is not perfect but it does come pretty darn close. Treyarch I hail you for a great COD game, there are also some secret extras to be found at the main menu, but I will leave that for you to work out.

Im not a hardcore COD fan, I religiously plays cod4 but I never really got into the other previous games in the franchise. MW2 was a HUGE let down, even with a month break from the game, I cant stand playing it for more than 1 hour without ragequiting. As for COD:Black Ops, well I was sceptical from the offset. I never really got into the hype, and only decided to buy it a few days before release.Well the game arrived yesterday, so lets deal with what i've played so far and my likes and dislikes...Campaign:likes:The campaign, visually is superior to mw2. At least when it comes to lanscapes and lighting, character models still look horrible. Its full of action, right from the get go I was laughing at the "coolness" of what was happening infront of me. Its a rather bloody game to say the least!Dislikes:The story, somewhat vague, I was a few missions in before I actually understood what was going on. The rediculous amount of cutscenes seem to remove you from the action, in a way that is supposed to be fluid but just ends up annoying.controls.. well i'll come to the in a second..everytime you get a trophee, the game freezes for 2 seconds. Which is rather distracting.Onlines:likes:There is a lot of variety online, i'm not the kind of guy that cares about being unique, shall we say. However its nice to see a kill cam with a rediculous redical in the reddot sight! The online is a lot more tactical I find, you have weapons like the nova 6 gas, phantom gunfire granade thing and the camera to your disposal which, if used properly, really helped to win a lot of gamesI for one, do like the currency system. It forces you to pick and choose what guns/killstreaks/perks/attachments e.t.c you want to use first. But i'll cover the dislikesDislikes:Maps are too crowded, I got lost easily. With too many hiding spots! I often was killed by someone just hiding at one of the many bottlenecks in the game. The guns are way too expensive, most of the attachments are unlocked from level 20+, so your stuck with a crappy gun with no range until then!Controls... well they are unique to say the least. I frequently would run to a corner, go into prone at the corner ( like I normally would ).. and find myself dive bombing straight past the corner and right into the line of fire, thanks to the new animated run-to-prone system. It was funny at first, but it just gets frustraiting! I'm sure i'll get used to this eventually, but for the moment I really dont like it.killstreaks... well this deserves a section of its own I think.Map skipping/repeating. This feature I thought was great at first, but what started out as having fun on one map, led to constantly playing this certain map. As everytime the game finished people would vote to redo it! you should be able to repeat a map only once before it skips to the next one.Killstreaks:!Overpowered. enough said? no? okay well..I thought cod:black ops would not have another chopper gunner type killstreak, but it has. And spawn rapping happens frequently. Infact CODBO has 2 chopper gunner style helicopters, one which is on a rail, and one which is player controller but both dominate far too much. You can't even switch to your rocket launcher before your killed, as the spawning system is predictable AGAIN. we're talking about the guy in the helicopter getting 20-30+ kills before it goes away.. any killstreak which gives that much is way overpowered.THE ONLY thing I like about the killstreaks, is that your killstreaks dont actually add to you "killstreak". You physically need to shoot someone before you get that extra couple kills required. That means people cant call in the chopper gunner and camp out.overall...The game is good, if you liked mw2 you'll love this game. If you didnt like mw2, you'll like this game. Time will tell if the novelty of a new game will wear off, or it will stay.

The graphics are better than Modern Warfare but slightly more cartoony in terms of colour gradients which may or may not be to your taste. I'll start talking about multiplayer because that's what most people will play to get the most out of the game. I probably spent about 10 hours playing single player in COD4 whereas the multiplayer online kept me entertained for at least ten times that so this should be no different. Aside from the different game types such as deathmatch, free-for-all, demolition etc you can now play wager matches which are great fun. I've only just discovered 'sharp shooter' where you all have the same guns and they cycle every 45 seconds. The large variety of customisation makes for some fun character class building but because of the grind involved in getting the pro versions of the perks (similar to MW2 which we didn't get on Wii) you may not relish that, especially if you're going to prestige and lose them all when you've only just got a few of them. There's some good maps and the perks are actually very well balanced - no stopping power, so you'll have to get used to putting a few more bullets in to your adversary before they go down. Combat training allows you to play against AI's and setting them to the easiest difficulty might allow you to burn off some stress after an unsuccessful session against real players - Its a bit of a pain that you need to be online to use combat training, but there you go.The single player campaign is well designed, it really weaves a tale of cold war conspiracies ably helped by some good voice performances from Sam Worthington (of Avatar fame) Ed Harris and reprising his role as Reznov; Gary Oldman. There are some nice twists which you won't expect, however on replay some of the cutscenes seem to drag on and you don't have the ability to skip them all. Still, the level design is fun and some stand out for action and strong plot combined with challenging play, the level 'Vorkuta' springs to mind featuring a prison break, but you might also enjoy running across the rooftops of Hong Kong while fighting off Spetsnaz troops in 'Numbers', or creeping through dense Vietnam jungle or crawling through its tunnels fighting off the VC. A couple of parts seem very difficult and make you go for too long without a checkpoint but I was playing it on Hardened so that was kind of bound to happen since I'm not that great at shooters anyway. One part though where you have to use barrels filled with napalm or petrol isn't at all clear and may have you pulling your hair out because the enemy has infinite spawns until you can push up the map. Finally, zombies are back! Better than that, now you can attempt to defeat the undead hordes with 3 cohorts online or offline - tackle them solo. This is great fun, difficult, if you die, you're right back to the start but that's the challenge and there are even weapons you don't get in the other game types, futuristic (though retro-fashioned) blasters like the Ray Gun or Thunder Gun.So why 9 out of 10? Well some of the things missing from the Wii version didn't need or deserve to be taken out. X-Box or Playstation gamers will be able to tackle zombies on the 'Five' map set at the Pentagon and featuring an unlikely cast of zombie battlers, but on the Wii? Sorry that map is unavailable. Also getting out of the chair in the intro screen works on the wii but don't expect to play Dead Ops Arcade like on the other versions. Don't expect Valkyrie rockets or Chopper Gunner or Gunship kill streaks or flame thrower attachments on your guns (didn't flame throwers work in world at war on the wii?) and this is one of the worst, because the amount of data saved from this must have been minute - no facepaint, emblems or custom reticles. Still, its an excellent game and has a lot to keep you busy and challenged.

This was a very tough game for me to judge as I can;t help but to compare it to it's (much better) predecessors, particularly those created by Infinity Ward. Despite many complaining about Modern Warfare 2's far fetched story line I found it to easily be the best in the whole series simply because IT KEPT ME ENTERTAINED! No matter how rediculous the plot may have been it quite literally kept me on the edge of my seat. Treyarch seem to have shot in a completely new direction that no campaign in the series has followed. You play Alex Mason a U.S. Soldier who has woken up to find himself tied up in an interrogation room where a mysterious individual is trying to get information out him and Alex has no idea what the answer is or why the interrogator wants this information,so you'll find yourself playing through Alex's flashbacks to find the answer. You'll come across old friends and shocking twists but i can't help that feel despite the fact some reviewers are claiming that this is the best COD storyline, it is much more far fetched than any other previous instalment. As you play through you'll find the story feels alot darker than previous games which is in no way a bad thing it simply takes some getting used to. My main problem with "Black Ops" is the fact is much like a Michael Bay film, you are simply bombarded with action and explosions and it's quite hard to enjoy the story when the pace is so relentless so I found the campaign actually quite quickly became boring.Of course as you would've expected the real pull to playing "Black Ops" is the multiplayer, and with a new title system, new killstreaks, gun customisation, as well as having the most popular multiplayer in the world you'll find hours of fun here. I especially advice playing with friends as there is nothing more fun than being part of a well planned team online. Any player of COD 4,5 or 6 know what to expect from matches such as Team Deathmatch, Demolition, Search and Destroy etc. They still feel nicely familiar and fresh at the same time. The maps unfortunately are not very special or memorable as they are quite typical from a COD game e.g. an industrial area in snow, a factory area, and a few town like areas this is except for Nuketown which is a tiny map (about the same size as rust from MW2) which will bring lots of relentlessly fast paced matches. Also new to the series is the wager matches which I wont spoil by going into detail but trust me when i say that you'll find this to be perhaps the freshest, most competitive and gripping new multiplayer experience this year.Of course with the improved zombie mode as well as Dead ops arcade you'll be hard done by not to find something to enjoy. My only other minor complaints with the game are few. As the game goes back in time the guns are of course based on older weapons and it's easy to feel that through the gameplay, so sometimes you'll feel that the gameplay could be described as quite sluggish compared to Modern Warfare 2. Not to mention the graphics also seem to have worsened on the xbox 360 since MW2, textures seem more bland, character models and faces aren't quite as detailed and most of the environments seem more like a mess than anything.Despite these small issues, this is a great game which I would only recommend to people with xbox live, but to those with xbox live I would recommend it VERY STRONGLY, this is a COD game that carries on the multiplayer phenomenon and improves it. It's just a shame that Treyarch will have to strive to work to Infinity Ward's standards which are extremely high. And it is especially a shame that infinity Ward are no longer working on the COD franchise. In short this game has not quite raised the bar but gotten pretty damn close.

I bought this game just after Christmas, and New Year's Eve, before VAT went up. So I was rather late, but after a few months my K/D began to rise as I grew to know the ganme just as much as everyone else.About the Wii: you don't have to pay for stupid 'live' that you get on the Xbox. This game, on the Wii, doesn't have chopper gunners. That is the biggest, and only, really missed thing in this game. If it had chopper gunners then the game would be complete and would need nothing more, as far as I'm concerned. I had a 2.81 K/D when I finished with this game, and a lot of experience, thus making me strive for the making of a review, based on massive knowledge of this game, on the Wii.I was part of the best clan on the Wii: [ ] - that's right, four spaces. My name was [ ]Fluffy and Pink. We have only ever been truly beaten when we couldn't control the whole game on our own, as a result of bad team mates and good opponents. And this has only ever happened around 10 times. Now a lot of you may not believe me when I say this, and you may beat me up about it, but the fact is that I was one of the best players on the entire game, like a whale in a tiny pond, rather than a big fish in a little pond. And this is no exaggeration. To explain the previous paragraph, I shall have to say that this game does have many hackers, as it is easy to do so. So I measured my skill in two ways. One being score per minute on the weekly leaderboards, where if I went on early enough on a Monday, I would be able to get ahead of some of the hackers. The highest rank I got to was 5th best in the world being beaten by various players who had apparently managed to get a score per minute in the millions, etc. Secondly, based on my experience with the game, where I have barely ever truly met someone who was better than me. I estimate roughly 20 to 50 people in the entire game may have been better than me. And this must be an estimation as I cannot wuite see where the hackers begin and the real players end.Now you may be thinking to yourself about how arrogant I am. But the FACT is that I can be like this, as I have the stats and skills to back it up.Final summation, buy this game if you feel you will be a good player (over 1.5 K/D - with ease) and also purchase the classic controller pro. I know that this game has ended, as MW3 has come out, but people still play this game and it is a lot of fun, when you are good. Don't bother if you don't know what you're doing.Basic things you must know about this game: no chopper gunners, stat hackers, very few game hackers, late game (being that newer versions are out as you read), graphic aren't the best, no killcams, some lag issues that can affect gun damage and recoil(people who complain about Black Ops on the Xbox are idiots, that game has absolutely no lag compared to this. But remember, the game is still very playable - try to play simple or you'll be shot round corners.) But overall, I have played this game on the Xbox aswell, and it if a million times more enjoyable on the Wii.Wii OVER XBOX - I STILL COME BACK TO THIS GAME EVEN THOUGH IT'S OVER BASICALLY. PLEASE BUY THIS GAME! IT'S IMMENSE!On a side note, if you truly believe that you can beat me, or prove that you are better than me, the message me and I'll happily test you.And then on another side note, just to be more arrogant and show why I'm the best; if I don't get dogs, the killstreak, at least once in each game, then it would be a bad game for me. I play domination all the time, and an average game for me would be 25 - 30 kills, and easily banking into the fourties. At least once a day, or gaming 'session', I would get in the 50's and above.BUY THIS GAME AND SHOW ME I'M NOT THE BEST PLAYER ON THE Wii!!

At a first glance COD: Black Ops actually dissapoints as graphically it is a much inferior to MW2 (especially if looking into the distance) and it does feel like a step back almost to the PS2 days. This is because although it is the same franchise it is made by a completely different company. This little disapointment takes a while to get over it, however the gameplay is much superior to that of MW2 that you soon forget the looks. The gameplay is excellent and I find myself addicted the online multiplay more so than MW2. The extra additions such as customisations, ability to purchase what you want rather than waiting for leveling up, being able to gamble money, the addition of equipment etc add so much to the gameplay. The developers have also listened to feedback such as people being annoyed at drop shooting (immediately going to prone when running) and address this by making you dive in this situation which takes time to recover from giving you a small disadvantage. The multiplayer is also more easier to navigate and joining your friends is allot easier and the game runs at smooth framerates (probably due to the graphics) which gives a very smooth and enjoyable experienceThe single player is also very good and seems more fogiving than MW2 (at times you felt that it was more trial and error rather than skill) and in Black Ops you always feel rewardedand not frustrated as you work your way through. Again the campaign is short but satisfying and if your like me it was a nice to have but the mutliplayer aspect is why I bought the productAll in all this is an excellent game and the new additions easily outweight the graphical dissapointment. If you liked MW2 then this game is a must. Firstly lets start by stating this. If you are like me and have played the last 3 COD games and wasted away a large amount of time on them, you WILL like this game. COD 4 was without a doubt the best COD game ever but WAW was, unfortunately disappointing!(unless you like shooting zombies endlessly). MW2 however was okay but much too like its predecessors to be called the best. It simply lacked what i like to think of as "That COD 4 feel". So, surely after treyarch made world at war how could they possibly produce a game better than MW2? I don't know, but THEY HAVE!So, lets talk about these graphics everyone's been moaning about. They're good but not great. They seem to lack some of the sleek polish of MW2 but are easily better than COD 4 and therefore MUCH better than WAW. I don't know if perhaps it is just the look they were going for that makes Black OPS' graphics seem a little disappointing to some but i have no problem with them what so ever. I think they're good! The campaign is okay, i wont talk about it much as i haven't played it all that much as the multiplayer is just sooooo addictive. The story seems a little difficult to engage in as i found with MW2 but the more i play the campaign the better it gets. You can do some really cool thing in it which i won't spoil for you, just play it. The guns seem to be slightly better in the campaign than online in terms of sound and feel. I might be imagining it though.THEY STILL HAVE M16Moving on to Multiplayer. This is where the game earns its right to be called COD. All the new customization options nd the COD points make the game absolutely addictive! Got my M16 yer gonna spend all my COD points on upgrading it and making it look amazing because i love it. Oh hang on i've unlocked the AK74u, this gun is amazing, just like in COD 4! And now you can enjoy all this with another player sitting right next to you with the all new split screen option. This makes the game even more enjoyable. The maps all seem to be very good and similar to those in MW2. They do not however offer the same style of gameplay COD 4 did so well. In COD 4 players would take up different classes and set up wonderfully tactical and dangerous warfare. Dangerous snipers would watch the streets and players would have to take more discrete roots to reach there goal. After COD 4 though this all disappeared with the COD 4 maps. No more wonderful Pipeline or Crossfire. The new maps seem to promote a more "run and gun" style of play. It is all much more fast paced than COD 4 and everyone dies a lot more! Still the multiplayer is as i say amazingly fun and regardless of which previous game you preferred, you will like this one. At first the game does have that treyarch feel you get with WAW but that does wear off very fast. Fortunately. So all in all a brilliant game, especially online in multiplayer, which offerseven more replayability than the previous titles along with some refreshing additions to keep you hooked. I havent mentioned Zombies but its there, and Zombies is Zombies. With flaming Zombie dogs.

Firstly, anyone rating this game lowly is either a sad, pathetic halo fan that wants to take all the good ratings away from this amazing game. Or they are trolling.. Or even because they are NOT GOOD enough to compete on this online!!I waited for this game for so long and got it at a midnight launch in tesco. The queue was atleast 300 strong and i was lucky enough to be pretty much at the front. At first, Black Ops IS and was difficult online. This is because EVERYONE camped due to not knowing any of the maps. I myself did get very frustrated as I know I am good on Call Of Duty games. So I switched it off and played again the next day. Everything had changed, people had stopped using the same killstreaks they started with (Really annoying Spy plane popped up every 30 seconds) and they stopped camping.Once you unlock a few guns like the Famas, the crossbow and the AUG you really do start enjoying it more. The reticle colours and designs are really cool. Its also nice to use any camo you want (Warsaw is my favourite). The sniping is well balanced and I do like to use the decoy grenade while sniping so it brings people out of their hidey-holes which allows me to pop them off.The killstreaks are good too. The rc-xd is really fun to use. Its good they took the thing out where killstreak kills count towards your next killstreak, so balanced. I have only seen someone use the gunship once. I personally find it rather difficult to get up to a 9 killstreak.WAGER MATCHES are the best thing about this game. The banter is really fun and its so good bankrupting the top player in the last few seconds of sticks and stones. Many times I have come from last in the final 60 seconds and finished first and stolen all of the cod points. Sharpshooter is good in the form of fair game. Everyone has the same weapon which gets changed out every 45 seconds. Bad times if you're on nuketown with a sniper. I bet you can all guess what everyone does (run into the houses to snipe. End up getting knifed). The maps look good. I have played every map and its fair to say I really like all of them. Grid and WMD are my favourites. If I were to pick the ''worst'' map i'd say Villa because there are too many hiding places.I've had no lagging issues as it was expected. I really hope anyone reading this review will buy this game and also watch some youtube videos. Believe the hype. I sold every single one of my 360 games (including halo reach and mw2) because I will not need another game until the new cod is out. Thats honest. This is only a snipet of what Black ops is like. There is so much in there like contracts, wager matches, zombies (already unlocked, you DONT have to finish the game), deeply customisable emblems, loads of 'titles' and many reasons to prestige (extra custom class slots, new emblems, new facepaints, new camo etc..)This game is definately worth the review I give to it. Dont listen to any of these low rating reviews. I have read them all and I do believe they are all on drugs. Please purchase.

OK so Treyarch get their big chance to develop the latest Call of Duty game....I was a MASSIVE fan of MW2 online (in fact my stats say that I've played over 32 days worth!) and was really disappointed that the ongoing legal dispute between Activision and Infinity Ward meant that IW would not get an oppotunity to provide us to a sequel to MW2 this soon.I'm going to assume that readers of this review have played MW2 and are actually interested in the differences between MW2 and Black Ops.OK so first the plus points:* the maps now feature slightly animated scenery on some maps - there are human targets, conveyor belts, blast doors, etc. and this is a nice refinement and shows that the game has "evolved" slightly. The layout of maps is also a lot more twisty and turny (if that's a word!). The layouts are riddled with nooks and crannies, tunnels, holes in walls, etc. and I think the maps themselves are an improvement over those of MW2 (although I do hate Nuketown!)* currency is now King so you can upgrade weapons in any order you like (saying that - some, like the ballistic knife and the crossbow are only unlocked at later levels) which means that, in large, those more experienced players with lots of cash may not have such exclusivity to perks and killstreaks as these are all fully available from day one.* Theatre Mode where you can save your favorite matches/moments is BRILLIANT! Just a shame you cannot upload them to YouTube....*I do like the RC car that you can drive and detonate! It's a great killstreak reward and funny when you are chasing guys for ages, who are running from the car!* you can now customise your weapons with your emblems and your player with war paint, etcGraphics are no better or worse than MW2.And the downsides?* Grenades - when Treyarch did WAW the grenades had the "wrong" feel and this is the same on Black Ops. The blast radius of grenades in Black Ops feels very limited, and they just don't have the right impact both visually and audibly. This is carried over to the grenade launcher attachment (which I was pretty damn good on at MW2) - the aim sight for it looks identical, but it does not seem to be as predictable and reliable as it's previous counterpart on MW2.* Menus - inviting a friend is a long-winded affair and your player stats are all buried in a myriad of sub-menus that require R1/L1 to find* Weapons - why oh why are shotguns now main and not secondary weapons!?! Arm yourself with a SPAS or likewise and you have no secondary weapon for accurate long distance whatsoever! The shotgun was great, but it would be a handicap to have it on BO as it leaves you vulnerable for everything other that short range encounters.OVERALL - I do like Black Ops and though I don't think it significantly improves on MW2 (in fact, I think it is slightly less polished, both on gameplay and presentation) I would still say it's a good buy for those looking for something a little bit new.

This is definately the best COD yet. For a start, the campaign is fairly long and exciting, with a very good story. It is a little confusing at times but by the end it all slots into place. I think the locations and era make it a refreshing change. However, most people play COD for the mulitplayer, and it is here where this game really shines. No annoying perks like commando, no boosters, no quickscopers and no nukes. I haven't seen any hackers either. The maps are well designed and thought out, and are generally fast paced and exciting. Gone are the maps which were a snipers paradise in MW2, like Wasteland and Derail, instead the maps are more urbanised, and are designed to stop camping. The weapons are good, not brilliant, as they have a lot of recoil in most of them, but that means you just have to be more skilled in using them instead of crying for your ACR/SCAR-H from MW2. The killstreaks are also, in most cases, very good. Their kills don't count to other killstreaks, and there are some very good additions, such as gunship, RC-XD and attack dogs. Some are rubbish though, such as valkriye rockets, death machine and blackbird. A wide range of accessories are available, and you buy your weapon attachments you want instead of unlocking them, which is a nice change. There are a few flaws however which stops this game getting 5 stars. Pistols are far too powerful, and the AK74u is the new UMP45, with nearly everyone using it. Also, screens do not match up, people seem to see you before you see them. For example, I put a few rounds into someone the other day before he killed me. Upon looking at the killcam however, it would seem that he shot me before I even got any rounds off! This in my opinion is by far the most annoying thing about the game. There is also a delay in when you get shot, you can move into cover and think you are safe only to die because the action has not caught up with you yet.I also think the emblem customisation is completely pointless. Maybe if I was 10 years old I would like to play with colours and pictures and things, but come on, this is an 18 rated game for crying out loud. Same with weapon customisation, like being able to change the colour of the dot in red dot sight. If I wanted to be creative, I would join an art class.Overall, whilst it is sometimes frustrating, a generally enjoyable game. Don't be put off by negative reviews, of course this isn't like Modern Warfare 1 or 2, what would be the point? It wouldn't be a new game then would it. I think the only people who still play on MW2 are the boosters, hackers, quickscopers and the little kids who like running around with Marathon/Lightweight/Commando and an UMP45 all the time. After playing every single COD game there is, Black Ops is certainly my favourite, and I will be certainly sticking with it until the next one.

I've chosen to wait it out and soak in the game before submitting a review. On purchasing the game (Xbox 360), I did - as I always do - jump straight into the campaign on veteran, aiming for the full 1000 gamerscore. I decided to put the multiplayer to the back, giving it a couple of weeks for Treyarch/Activision to release their updates, cleaning out any initial glitches shipped on the disc.I have to say, the single player is fairly strong. It's hard to deny, the graphics look fantastic. The character models are impressive. Treyarchs move from WWII (finally!) is very welcoming. The only low point for me is the seriously convoluted storyline that moves at such a pace that I felt I had no interest OR opportunity to connect with the main protagonists. It felt like I was getting peddled from level to level by "jigsaw" from the "Saw" series and that the ending was heavily influenced by "Fight Club".Overall the single player was a palpable effort from - the hugely overshadowed - Treyarch. It neither turned me away or drew me in.Having moved from the single player to multiplayer, I found I was at a greater disadvantage, having left it so late to join the online battle, I often find myself with the lowest rank in the game and constantly getting caught out by gamers who have unlocked all the equipment that works in their favour. I found the idea of currency fantastic, till, I realised we still have to unlock the guns before we are given the choice to buy them, making the hyped change from MW2 completely redundant. In a few short weeks, it has become quite clear that "modders" have set up camp in a big way with this release. I've had the misfortune of playing with people already on their 15th and final prestige. I have encountered clan tag modifications. I have played in lobbies with users sporting "lag switches". I have been "quickscoped". I have around 250 deaths clocked by the RC-XD. I have been backed into corners by team mates on numerous occasions. The server issue is still a problem, I find myself waiting considerable amounts of time before getting into a match. I recently upgraded my internet package and run 50 meg fibre optic, which means, the problem is definitely not on my shoulders. This doesn't deter my enjoyment when I play, just greatly reduces my clocked hours - having "rage quit" countless times -, of which there still is many. The maps are lacking, which if Activision had anything to do with it is more than likely deliberate, thus, giving the player even more incentive to pay for the overpriced map packs that will inevitably follow.Overall. I still feel this is a strong release for the IP and I will definitely recommend and play it.

Black Ops is your typical Call of Duty game; short campaign and massive multiplayer. I'll split the review into three main sections, reflecting the three big parts of the game - Campaign, Zombies, Multiplayer. The Campaign is probably Black Ops' worst feature. Whilst the story is probably one of the strongest yet of the CoD games (I found it certainly better than MW2!), it is still at times very predictable and boring. The presentation of the story is very good though, with great voice acting and cutscenes that help to get you involved. There are loads of slow motion moments, explosions and some actually not bad driving sections (though they are short and sparse). The gameplay does tend to get a little repetitive after a while and the AI is still pretty terrible - they often just stand out in the open waiting to get shot. All-in-all, it's not brilliant but it is still fun. The campaign should take you about 5 hours depending on your skill level and the difficulty you choose. The multiplayer is back and better than ever. Great customization and progression through choosing your weapons, attachments, perks, killstreaks, camo, grenades (etc) helps you to create a quite unique class and is very addicting because new things are unlocked at every level. Some builds will of course be better than others and it's a shame that some of the attachments, some of the perks and some of the weapons are just downright bad. In my time playing, about 90% of people were using the Galil, Aug, Commando or Famas assault rifles which was a little dissapointing. There is a wide variety of maps from the close quarters Nuke Town to bigger maps like Grid. It's a bit unbalanced (Ghost perk is very strong) and the servers are quite unreliable but most of the time it is great fun.The Zombies mode from CoD 5 is back and it's great. There are 2 maps available to play when you first get the game with an additional 3 available to buy from the mappacks (buying all 3 mappacks will cost you 3600 MS points). New weapons, perks and zombie types make it interesting but there is still the same basic idea as CoD 5 - survive for as long as you can against an endless horde of zombies, dogs and even monkeys!Graphics as a whole are slightly worse than Modern Warfare 2 which is a bit dissapointing but are still great to look at and some of the places in the Campaign are very memorable.All-in-all, it's not a perfect game. There are occasional bugs and multiplayer suffers from lag and unstable servers. Some unbalances detract from the online experience but overall if you like the CoD franchise, you'll most likely want to play Black Ops. If you don't like it, this won't change your mind.
