This game is without a doubt one of the best games I have played in a long time. This expansion of the Dawn of War 2 series introduces the chaos space marines, the fallen brothers of the space marines of the emperor. These now demonic warriors were once loyal to the Emperor of the Imperium and turned to the dark powers of the demonic gods of chaos, Khorne, Nugle, Tzeentch and Slaneesh.Chaos rising kicks off to a great start, launching straight into the action with all of the original characters from the first game, continuing from where the original campaign kicked off. but by the second or thirs mission there is a new character in the form of a lirbrarian as well as a whole host of new wargear to use and incorporate into your arsenal, from weapons to abilities, everything has been thought of.The graphics are the same as the original game, which is excellent, even if they could have been improved on slightly, but nothing is perfect, the cut scenes are brilliant and offer a refreshing break from the missions while you watch some of the action unfold. the story line is excellent, especially when the chaos forces come into action and bring a really dark mood into the game.In conclusion, this game grabs you by the balls from the start and doesnt let go, whether you have played the original or not is not important, you will be instantly hooked on Chaos rising and you wont look back, there is plenty of action, wargear to collect, back story, and characters to keep you interested all the way through, and if that wasnt enough, go online and check out the new units for last stand, or the complete new chaos army created for the multiplayer games.A total 5 star game, absolutely fantastic, I really hope they bring out another expansion soon to put me out of my waiting misery.

As a lover of everything made by Relic, I knew what I was getting into when I bought this expansion; This expansion is a multiplayer expansion with an almost introductory-singleplayer to add Chaos and the Imperial Guard to the list of races available to play.It introduces ''choices'', which seems to be on the list of ''must-have''s in games these days (including zombies), affecting your characters turning into Chaos (ie the battle between light and dark), masquerading as filler content to pass the time and learn what the new, demonic Chaos units are capable of.Having all your equipment carry on from any previous DoW 2 run-throughs is a nice touch, and naturally this expansion adds better loot drops and extends the level cap in singleplayer. It's a multiplayer expansion at heart to introduce a new playable race. As long as you keep that in mind, you'll love it.Essentially, the only reason you would buy this is if you have grown a bit tired and stale of the 4 races available before the expansion and want to see more variety in the multiplayer.A steal for the price though as always with DoW expansions. It's not like *cough* CoD *cough* where they charge you half the game's price for a few maps and call it an 'expansion'.

I put off buying the game for a long time after reading some reviews stating how short it is, and crashes and various bugs etc.I already have Steam so that wasn't an issue for me, and I've never had a problem with it but there have been no crashes or bugs that I've come across in the 2 or 3 days it took me to finish the game. For those who have complained the game is short, did you play on Primarch difficulty setting? That in itself adds longevity, especially if you're trying to get more points for the mission achievements (how many of your squads got knocked out, how many of the enemy you killed and how fast you completed the mission). Add in the chaos elements and seeing what happens when you're pure (in the eyes of the emperor)opposed to corrupted and you've still got to play through at least twice to see the outcome. Then there are the new multiplayer units and the cooperative aspect which easily makes it worth the price, even more so if you get the gold edition with both the original game and the expansion.

Great game, improved campaign with librarian and better objectives. Last stand tyrannids and chaos is brilliant as an update.A great improvement to the first one which had slightly repetitive campaign missions.Only bad thing was, unlike with the original DOW expansions, this only includes one race added and considering the first one had imperial guard in the campaign, they already had parts of a new race which could've easily been created.Imperial guard should be in the next expansion because they're already half built and they are one of the popular races. Necrons and tau would be an interesting race to add as well, although dark eldar and sisters of battle in the original dawn of war weren't really that popular or asked for. Can't wait to finish the campaign and also for news on what new races will be added in the next DOW 2 expansion.

It is a great game, with all the good parts from the first Dawn of War 2; if you liked the first one, then you will definitely like this game. The game play is too short though. Not sure if I like the whole corruption idea, as it means that you have to have weaker armour and weapons to avoid falling to Chaos; however, it does not really diminish the game play. I am now replaying the game with the aim of getting corrupted. It is a shame that you cannot play the story mode as Chaos Marines. On the plus side, you get to play as Chaos Marines and Tyranids in the multiplayer and online games, which is quite cool.Overall, well worth the money but has the potential to be so much better.

Many people complain about the length of this expansion pack, but you know what? Dawn of War 2 was fun, and that only had a couple of different mission types. Chaos Rising constantly shakes things up, for example, this one mission in a space hulk, and this interesting challenge where you have to kill as few people as possible. The extra levels give you the ability to make your characters far more interesting, and the Corrupted equipment mechanic shakes things up a bit.It is shorter than I'd like, and you start to get cluttered with equipment you cannot sell but are not likely to use, but regardless, if you have finished DoWII, get CR.

The game overall is what i expect of the dawn of war series. It is a fast, fun and tactical game. Though i still miss the Base building part from the first game. The campaign is interesting, the multiplayer part is fun of which i personally find "last stand", a type of game where you only possess a hero and have to survive wave after wave of enemies, most interesting. Well, since i am not to good at reviewing things i will stop here.Facit: The game is worth buying. Even more so if you are a fan of the Warhammer 40k universe.

I found this expansion to Dawn of War II great fun. I found the corruption mechanic and equipment options unlocked with it very interesting. The missions themselves were pretty awesome, I felt they were better than the ones in Dawn of War II. Though the campaign was pretty short in comparison, the content was packed with great ideas. Last stand is now alot more interesting, introducing Tyranid and Chaos into the fray. All in all, I'd recommend it.. and for the price, you can hardly complain.

I love it. The gameplay is good and on a reliable game engine that really takes alot to crash. The additional multiplayer content alone was worth the purchase. The only downside to the game is in that it can't be started while offline even for the singleplayer campaign, another case of security/ copyright measures damaging the PC games industry. (it can however be signed into and then disconnected as long as the game isn't shut down)Aside from that, perfect buy for those who enjoyed DoW2!

Just like the prequel, this game has awesome story line, awesome level-ups and awesome items and upgrades, The missions are repetitive but who cares!? there are three instalments to this game so move on to the next sequel and stop complaining about this one!...dawn of war II...dawn of war II chaos rising...dawn of war II retribution, are all one game so reveiw them all together and you have an amazingg gameplay experience, damn fun and damn awesome bro

Finally they added the chaos space marines with such a good story as well. There is a lot of content on top of the single player with obviously the additional faction of Chaos marines and the much fun "Last stand". Can be a bit difficult when playing the campaign missions but it wouldn't be fun if it was too easy. Highly recommended for any fan of the Warhammer 40K or Dawn of War franchise.

I'm just amazed by the noob factor of people posting the reviews... This game is ALL about the multiplayer, it's the BEST RTS EVER... fact!!!Buy the 1st part Dawn of war 2 otherwise this wont work (I think)But you will not be disappointed!REally most people are playing the new one retribution, which is where it's at these days = )

17.3.2010

I agree with other reviewers in that its a great game with a solid campaign mode and the added corrupted items give a sense of choice. my only complaint is that it appears on occasion to be bugged and crashes too often. im hoping this is sorted with patches in due time. Other than that a good expansion and hope they do more.

The first game is always the best however this is a close second, a must have for anybody wanting to play through dawn of war 2. Continues the storyline on and doesnt lose any of the amazing gameplay. The product itself was in excellent condition and arrived promptly, would definately recommend.

Great game. A worthy addition to the single player campaign and the corruption of chaos has some nice effects though I wish the units had changed more visually as they became corrupted. Last man standing is great for multi player and benefits from the new races available. Well worth the money.
