For as long as I have been a responsible dog owner I have owned a set of Wahl Dog Claw Clipper Guillotine Style. For me there is no alternative which is a safer and quicker method of accomplishing neat comfortable nails for my dogs, without causing them undue stress, as of course most dog owners know that nail clipping can be extremely stressful for our much loved pets. There is no chance of accidentally cutting your dog with these as the nail goes into the guillotine area for cutting. Yes, you do still need to be careful not to cut the nail too short, but once a month I trim my dogs nails a little and if you do this then the "quick" will recede so that you can keep the nails nice and short.Of course, plenty of walking on concrete also helps to keep nails short, and in any case that will have a filing down effect after the nails have been clipped to ensure they are kept smooth. Walking on concrete also helps to tighten your dog's paws and keep them healthy, as well as helping to keep the whole paw and pastern joint healthy and tight, thereby avoiding injury. When these clippers are used they are sharp enough to cut right through the nail without catching, or causing the nail to shatter, which is the main thing that I love about them. I lost my previous ones in a move which meant I needed to purchase a new pair. I expect to have these for many years as they are durable and well made.An excellent purchase for dogs of any size - I currently use them for my jack russell/chihuahua cross who is quite small, and also for my romanian rescue whose paws/nails are approximately the size of a labrador. I have always used these same clippers on a quite large German Shepherd, so they really will be suitable for a wide range of breeds.

These dog nail clippers are absolutely marvellous. Up until now we have been using the scissor type which were not good for us or the dog. We found that this type of clipper squashed the nail and it was more risky ie, cutting into the quick which upset the dog . These guillotine style clippers are very easy to use, you can make sure that the clipper lies flat against the paw and therefore ensures that the nail is cut at the right angle and best of all, no cutting of the quick. With the older style clipper our dogs used to run and hide when they saw us get them out. No problem now, because of the quick action of the guillotine they don't realise their nail has been cut. Hooray,we and our dogs can experience safe and trouble free manicure sessions in future. I would recommend most highly to anyone attempting to clip dog's nails and it saves a lot money, also stress free as the dog is in familiar surroundings with an owner they love.

I was pretty to reluctant to cut the toenails of our huge (48K) German Shepherd as they were long and thick. Our vet charges us £80 every time we visit so I was pretty reluctant to try that too. I watched a video on Youtube showing that the job could be done by an amateur, so decided to give it a shot. So what clippers to buy? I think I was sold by the Wahl name and at a price so cheap it didn't matter, I ordered the gillotine type. Fantastic. Sharp and easy to use Sam just lay there unmoving and let me trim away. I was quite cautious at first, just taking off an eighth of an inch at a time but soon got the confidence to do the whole job again. Perfect product, perfect result and all for a couple of quid.Five Star!!

I bought these for my Basset Hound, Bruno. His claws grow so quickly and it was costing me money every time I had to have them trimmed, and in my opinion the groomer never took enough off. I was apprehensive because of the issue of bleeding, but as all his nails were white I thought I might as well try and do them myself. These clippers are very, very easy to use. Because my dog has such big paws and thick nails I had to use a little pressure but got a nice, clean result, they cut nice and straight and it's easy to see where you are cutting because of the guillotine style. All in all a good buy especially for the price, although some instructions may have been useful

I've found it difficult to source the guillotine-style claw clipper here in Johannesburg, so I was very pleased to have this one delivered to me when visiting the UK. And I was blown away by the reasonable price tag! I find it well-constructed, sturdy, sharp and easy to use - my only very slight complaint is that I would have liked to have had a better idea of its size from the website, as it could have been just one size bigger for my rottweilers' claws. Just the same these clippers are adequate for the job as the rotties have black claws and it's better to nip off just the ends of the claws more frequently, rather than make the mistake of cutting too deeply.

We have a large collie whose claws need regular attention to keep in check without damaging the soft centre of claw. Some cutters will crush the claw as they cut through. These don't, they are very easy to use , with a smooth slicing action, no clipping noise, and you can effortlessly remove thin slices or as necessary. They are robustly made, with sprung handles and a blade that so far shows no sign of becoming blunt. We are very pleased with these, especially for the amazingly cheap price. As always Amazon delivery quick and efficient.

I had some doggy nail clippers which were like a curved scissor shape. I found they seem to slide down the nail as i clipped, so as a nervous doggy nail clipper, i bought these ones. So far i have found them so much better than the last pair i had. They stay where you put them and the clip is so easy and quick. The dog doesn't mind half as much because it slides through the nail nicely and doesn't make the nail fray as you cut (Maybe i just had blunt clippers before?). Anyway, a fuss free, easy to use product. I highly recommend.

My dog is 17 years old (a small breed - Lhasa Apso) and cutting her nails is usually stressful for her, but these clippers make it so easy. She barely notices me doing it as the clippers are quiet and really easy to use. They clip quickly which is great as the dog's paw doesn't have to be held for long, and they also clip cleanly which is especially good for an older dog like mine who isn't active enough to naturally file her nails. They save her the stress of going to the vets and being muzzled, a great product at a great price.

The Wahl Smartgroom Dog Claw Clippers, these are strong and easy to use. The only trouble I had was getting my dog to stay still. They are easy to use and the clippers are strong enough to cut a dog's claw. The price was so cheap I was expecting to pay at least £10 when I was looking on line. The guillotine style makes it easy to position for the cut, and doesn't seem to harm the dog in any way. I would recommend this item to any Dog Owner, firstly because of the price and secondly because they are strong and easy to use.

I have used this type of guillotine cutter before, but a much bigger one on Great Danes. To say I was nervous using these on my little Cavachons is an understatement. It helps that they have white claws as it's easier to see the quick of the nail. If you have never trimmed before, go easy. If you cut that quick it will hurt them. As you cut regularly the quick moves higher up inside the claw so a little and every couple of weeks is the way to go. If only the rest of the grooming was so easy. ..

We have just started to groom our dog after many years of having her groomed proffessionaly, I did try other things before I looked on Amazon(where I do most of my online buying) Having been made redundant money is very tight so I was pleasantly surprised when I came accross these, tried them & they do the job, nice & light & easy to handle, quick action,it arrived within 2 days in the post, there are better examples out there but for more money,I have no complaints from my dog either

I had one like this years ago when I had an indoors cat so went for this style again now i've adopted a cat who can't go out. They are extremely quick and easy to use and amazingly my docile boy just let me do his claws while sitting on my lap whereas before I always swaddled my cat with just one paw out at a time. For anyone who has a puss with really sharp claws I would thoroughly recommend these, they neatly cut just the tips off without getting to close to the skin.

Brought these after reading the excellent reviews for this item. Our dog, is a perfect example of how these clippers work well, he hates his feet being touched, and will scream the place down if you even try to trim the fur around his claws, but wow!!! They don't crush the nails, which i was worried about, and they are also strong which is also a bonus. finally i can cut his claws without feeling i am hurting him or getting him stressed, they really do work, 5 stars!!!

A little scary for a first users but these were perfectly safe to use. I just watched a couple of YouTube video tutorials to ease my mind before attempting to trimming my puppy. It was so easy, my puppy fell asleep while i was cutting her nails. Books and websites advice on nail a day to get the dog use to the process but my pup was fine so I did all of them. Probably could have gone shorter but she has black nails so I wanted to be safe than sorry for my first try,

Very easy to use, though be VERY careful when clipping black claws as you can't see the quick which if you cut too much will cause excessive bleeding.Best get a spare pair of hands to hold the pet while you trim those claws. Great product and value for money. Just be careful when using and they do a great job and from what I can see causes the pet less stress as it's a circular cut and not a shear.
