My cat is a moggy that I adopted as a kitten a year and a half ago. Last spring and summer she was shedding a lot, and although I tried using a flea comb (as recommended by the vet) to thin out her fur a bit there was still cat hair EVERYWHERE. Daily brushing/combing didn't seem to significantly cut down on the amount of cat hair on my clothes, furniture, bedding, up my nose - literally everywhere. This year she's fully grown and started shedding already in March. Despite returning to daily combing, she got her first hairball a week ago and I knew something had to be done. After a bit of research I realised that she's likely a good part British Shorthair since her fur is extremely dense (though obviously short).None of my cat-owning friends had ever seen a short-haired cat that sheds as much as this adorable little furball does. I was suspicious of the Furminator, which is expensive and seems to be less well tolerated by kitties, and I didn't think my cat would go for it in any case since she can be pretty fussy about being groomed. The softer rubber of the Zoom Groom appealed to me - as did the price tag.Well I got it three days ago and it's been amazing. I've removed more hair with it in one session (as another reviewer on here says, about two golf ball sized clumps every time I use it) than I ever did with the flea comb. I mostly use it running back and forth along her spine and sides, as the circular motion seems to make her less happy. I find it's helpful to be slower and more gentle when brushing the hair against the growth (from tail to head, for example). It's a good size and weight in the hand, and it's easy to vary the amount of pressure you're using if your cat is like mine and sometimes wants a good heavy brushing and other times will flinch at anything but the lightest touch.Other reviewers have mentioned that the fur doesn't all stick to the Zoom Groom itself and some of it flies about a bit - that's true. I think the best way to go about this is to brush your cat on a flat surface like a desk, table or bed. While you're brushing the cat, stop every few strokes to remove the fur from the Zoom Groom's teeth. Once your cat has been brushed (or has run away when she's had enough!), run the Zoom Groom lightly over the table or bed to pick up the loose hairs. This also works on your clothes and gets a good 75-80% of the fur off. Follow that up with a lint roller (for clothes and/or bed) or a duster (for a desk or table) and you'll find you've virtually eliminated the excess fur.In sum: I love this thing and wish I had bought it last year! Grooming really is important to your cat's health, and your own during shedding season, so if you're on the fence don't hesitate on this one.

Just got my ZoomGroom Cat "brush". I use "brush" in quotes because really, it's a massager that also loosens hair. I have a Medium Haired and Short Haired cat and between the two of them, the short hair sheds the worst. I have a furminator, a slicker brush, and some regular brushes that I use regularly on Louie (short hair), but he really only tolerates the slicker brush and it challenging, because when I brush him with the slicker, he moves a lot and shoves his face in the direction of the brush, and if you've used a slicker, you know that at a wrong angle, those prongs hurt!Fast forward to today - I used the ZoomGroom right out of the box. Louie is in LOVE with it.He stayed stationary while I massaged him using a back-forth motion that kept the nubs of the ZoomGroom in constant contact with his coat. He even let me massage his sides, which he never lets me touch with the slicker. He actually pushed his body into the Zoom Groom to increase contact. I am shocked by his positive reaction.Regarding comments saying that the fur flies - I didn't have that problem - not like the fur that flies with the furminator! If you keep the ZoomGroom in constant contact with your pet and use it in back forth motions, and not the one direction/lift motion you'd use with a brush or comb, you'll find that the fur wraps itself pretty tightly around the nubs and collects there. I did have quite a bit of loose hair that was brought up by the effort of the massage, but that was collected with the slicker brush as a final step. You WILL need to brush/comb your pet after a session with the ZoomGroom, but it's not a long brush - it's mostly just to collect the loose hair that was released through the massage. Amazon's not letting me upload a photo for some reason, so take my word for it - the hair collected so tightly around the nubs that it came off like a hair mold (some might think this is gross, but I thought it might be helpful so you can understand how keeping the ZoomGroom in direct contact with your pet makes the hair stick to the massage tool and not fly around). So - long story short - I'm VERY pleased with the results I had with Louie, and I have no doubt that Winkle will also enjoy being massaged with the unit. I'm confident that regular use will help keep my house fur-free during this shedding season. And it's a great price here on Amazon.

Great for loosening up the thick undercoat and getting the dead hair out. I use this on my thick-haired cats (a short-haired tiger with a heavy wiry double coat, my mom's Maine Coon cat with her complicated coat, and my short-haired gray cat with her thick, lustrous coat that seems to have a cottony base, the kind that can snarl even if short).Your single-coat cats won't really need it. My two shiny, slick-haired cats seldom need anything this intense, so I use it only a little on them.I use it primarily to loosen up the undercoat hair, and if the cat allows it, I brush against the grain to do an even better job; then I follow up with a slicker comb to remove any additional top stuff (guard hairs)and to lay the coat flat again. It's a good system. You get a lot of dead hair out. You can use it at least once a day when it's heavy shedding season. Then, unless it's a Maine Coon, you can go to using it every few days. If you have a Maine Coon, you know what a fur factory they are, so you probably know what I mean already. There's ALWAYS more hair, and you need to get at it daily, or you're just cutting knots and mats out.Properly used, it's an excellent tool. Please read on.Just know that once your cat mostly blows its seasonal coat, you won't need it as often---you might actually be pulling hairs out, so be judicious with it. Then you will also mostly be tugging the skin, and the cat will be unhappy. And don't use it on the tummy/groin area at all; that finer hair, no matter how thick and/or curly it seems, doesn't need it either, and your cat won't be thrilled if you try. That's tender skin; you wouldn't use an aggressive hairbrush on your sensitive parts, would you? Gentle combing there only. With a long-haired cat, be aware it might tug the long hair if you don't take your time, so pay attention when you use it; part the long thick hair with your fingers as you go, to avoid the tugging. You want it for the undercoat, remember, not the guard hairs. And if you are rough, the cat will be annoyed and won't be inclined to let you do your thing.Give 'em a few treats afterwards.[Edited for readability and a couple of little typos.]

I had been considering a Furminator, but having read some reviews that suggested it might cut or pull at the hair (accompanied with pictures of cats with bald patches after their over-eager humans went a bit too far) I decided to play it safe - and cheaper - and get the Zoom Groom instead.First impressions: it's a bit uninspiring to look at. A series of rubber cones attached to a twee rubber cat. Hardly an impressive feat of modern engineering, but I'm prepared to be wowed nonetheless.First use: Well there's that 'wow'. My cat has never been one for being brushed. Now he's 13 he'll tolerate it with a standard bristle brush, but it doesn't seem to bring much fur off, and can be a bit unwieldy. He seems quite content with this though, and even started purring up a storm while I was doing it. And the fur! The fur! Just a couple of swipes along his back and sides and so much fur is appearing. The downside is that it doesn't all collect on the tool itself; most of it just pools on the cat, but that's easy enough to deal with. Quite a bit flurries off into the air as well... so be prepared for a bit of a fur storm. Removing the hair that does collect on the 'brush' is very easy - far easier than it ever was with a bristle brush. Cleaning it under the tap afterwards is simple and quick. He's not as keen on it being used on his head - it's a bit too knobbly - so I'll keep the bristle brush for that as it's more gentle and soothing.Bonus use: It seems to work absolute wonders at scraping fur off soft furnishings. I've had to throw blankets and towels away in the past because of the difficulty in removing fur from them. I've just tried the Zoom Groom on a fleecy blanket the cat has been sleeping on lately, and the fur just came right off. Even vacuuming this blanket doesn't get the fur off usually because it gets trapped in the fleecy fibres. Conclusion: So cheap, so effective, bonus uses... I like it so much I wrote a review for it - I never write reviews on here.

I decided to give the zoom groom five stars because my darling house cat found it very relaxing. He's a moggy, and would be classed as semi longhair, with a small ruff, underbelly and britches, and a fat fluffy tail. His fur is silky and fine, but it's extremely thick, especially his undercoat. His longest furry areas are about 3inches long.I tried getting him used to a gentle brushing since he was a young boy, but it always turned into a game of rough housing, I would always stop as soon as he lost self control so he wouldn't think it was a game, but failed in the end. It got to the point where he'd get excited and frisky when he saw me get the comb. So in the end I just gave up.I had a cheapo plastic comb because I thought it was a waste to invest in proper combs and brushes, and I'd occasionally run it through gently, down his back and on either side, sometimes the tail, but basically I am not to comb/brush anywhere else (his rules, not mine *eye roll*)The zoom groom has basic instructions that say to brush in a circular motion. It is very soft despite how spiky it looks, which is good because cats have delicate skin. My cat enjoyed it, like a massage, it was able to loosen up the fur in his undercoat, not much actually came off with the zoom groom, but I was then able to gently comb through the loosened fur and I got a decent amount of loose hairs out using the finer comb. What you see in the picture came from his sides and back using the fine comb. Although I still used the comb, the zoom groom help detangle and loosen things up. He found it very relaxing, purring and making the cutest sounds, so over all I am pleased with the product. He did try chewing the spikes, so I will have to hide it when not in use from the brat. But even if it doesn't remove much fur, I still recommend it because you can use it to massage and bond with your cat/kitten.

After buying and using quite a variety of brushes to try and cut down on the amount of cat fur that gets spread all over our house, i find that this little, inexpensive, rubber groomer is probably the most effective of them all. The amount of fur that i'm getting from my critters is huge right now, since the weather is turning warmer, and i can sit down with the groomer and one of the cats and get quite the handful of fur off of them. With there being no sharp or firm bits, non of the cats dislike the feel of the groomer, and quite frankly, most of them really enjoy it. The biggest complaint i have read in the reviews is about the cat hair ending up all over the place, anyhow, since it doesn't really stick to the groomer. But my solution is quite simple. i run the groomer down the the cat and follow it with my free hand, sliding down the length of the cat and right off the tip of his/her tail. i end up with a ton of hair in my hand each time, and i just keep repeating the motion - groomer, hand. groomer, hand. - until the cat tires of it and wanders away. By the end, i have a huge handful of hair and not too much on the floor or chair around me. You are still going to have to vacuum. There is no way around it. But it's a grip easier to vacuum that chair or area and throw that wad of fur out for the birds than to have that amount of fur spread all over your house and furniture.Someone left a review saying that by turning the groomer over and using the back side you could clean the fur from your furniture or lap after grooming. That was some awesome advice. It works remarkably well! All in all, this is the best product i have found to work on all fur types.

My cats hate being combed. It used to be a case of - when the brush came out the oven gloves went on, because any attempt to groom them meant I would suffer terrible injuries caused by what I believe the police refer to as 'defence wounds'.Luckily for my forearms though, I discovered 'Zoom Groom' and oddly both my cats love it. They go wild for it and it seems to send them into states of ecstasy when I comb them with it. The minute I get it out they come running and queue up to take turns being brushed. When they're being brushed they go prone on the floor like pancakes; they lie flat on their bellies with their legs akimbo purring as I brush them head to toe. They drool, they shut their eyes, and pad at the floor and air in sheer delight. Then they role over asking me to brush their tummies. The amount of fur this thing removes is quite phenomenal. One session with the rubbery points easily removes two golf ball sized balls of fur from each cat. The best thing about replacing the metal teeth of a comb with the rubbery spikes is that they acts not like a comb, tugging painfully at my cats' fur, but a bit more like fingertips which massage while collecting lose hair from the dense undercoat. Both the cats and I love this comb/brush/massager - the cats enjoy the sensation of being combed with it, and I love the fact that it keeps their coats silky smooth and that it sends them into convultions of ecstasy. Both the cats and I love this comb/brush/massager - the cats enjoy the sensation of being combed with it, and I love the fact that it keeps their coats silky smooth and the fact that I send them into convultions of ecstasy with it.

My two rabbits absolutely hate being groomed with a passion and always have done. I decided to buy a zoom groom on a whim and it has turned into the only brush I ever use!The rubber 'fingers' work well and produce a very pleasurable feeling when brushing. When trying it on your own hair you can appreciate just how nice it does actually feel. The sensation is similar to a head/scalp massage that you'd get at a salon when having your hair done, or one of those metal scalp massagers. One of my rabbits absolutely loves the feeling of it and will go completely flat when you brush her.It works particularly well on my rabbit with silkier, more velvety, rex type fur. It gets so much fur out of her!It still works well on my rabbit with normal type fur.It is effective as routine grooming to help keep the dense undercoat smooth, and also effective during moulting. During a moult I tend to gently pluck out loose fur, then brush and then pluck again as the zoom groom does a great job of loosening moult knots. It may not be as effective as the furminator (like some reviews have said) but for rabbits the furminator is not recommended. Due to the very thin and delicate skin on rabbits it is easy to cause large tears in the skin. There's been many cases of it that I know of. It's simply not worth the risk of using a furminator or any other type of brush designed to brush/trim multiple layers of fur. It will take slightly longer with a zoom groom but your rabbit (or indeed any pet) will probably either enjoy the sensation or at least happily tolerate it.

My wife picked up an extendable lead from a well know large regional pet shop for £16.99.....it's larger and more cumbersome than this flexi lead and also a lot shorter.....a full 5 meters shorter!!We do a lot of walking in the North Yorkshire moors and a lot of places require you to have your dog on the lead at all times due to lambs and sheep....this lead still gives him the freedom to roam around while still being under full control. It feels nice and strong and at no point have I felt it was going to fail....for reference my dog is approximately 10 kilos. The trigger stop mechanism is feather lite as well and so easy to operate, it only requires the lightest of touches and you can stop the lead from running out any more very easily. My dog can't outrun the cord return speed either which is good. It very rare any line is dragging on the floor. At £8.49 this is an absolute bargain for what you get. Plus the fact you can add accessories to it if required is great too, my next purchase is the soft stop lead just to give my dog a little more comfort if he runs out of line.Just a couple of points to consider. 8 meters of cord gives your dog plenty of time to get up to full running speed so I would suggest only using this with a body harness and the soft stop lead. Also if you are planning on using this around a lot of people watch out the cord getting wrapped around peoples legs, as the cord is so thin it's like a cheese wire and can leave a nasty friction burn on bare skin.

This is a review for the “flexi VARIO Cord, Small, 8 m, Pink”I purchased this lead via the Amazon Warehouse deals. I’ve always used a fixed length lead but decided to give this lead a go as I wanted my dog to have more freedom on our walks along canal paths or pavements but still allow me to have control should a bike come whizzing past or the dog see’s a cat and decides it will be fun to chase it.The lead itself is really comfortable and ergonomic. The grip has plenty of space for your hand and has a rubber feel texture which is soft and great should you have cold hands on early morning walks. The retraction of the extending cable works well and I've had no issues at all with it getting tangled. There is also a great feature which allows you to customize the lead with different accessories such as poo bag holders, LED cable etc. All of these you have to purchase at an extra cost but it’s nice to have this feature should you wish. The lead also came with a safety collar strap which you can attach alongside your own dogs collar which works as a back up should the D ring break on your own dogs collar. Personally I don’t use this as the lead/collar combo I’m using feel really robust for the size of dog I have but again it’s a great extra feature which I’ve seen some others don’t provide.I've recommended a friend get one of these leads too as I’ve been so impressed. I own a Jack Russell and I'd say the Small for me was the perfect size.

Great item for bonding with your cat by grooming. It does remove loose dead hair and produce purrs but I was a bit shocked by the amount of fur in the air, and coating the bed-cover, and the mog and me. Not a problem on the bedcover though, you just turn the zoom groom over and use the relatively flat side to gently swipe it all up. It cleans the hair off perfectly, leaving not a trace. I thought hmm, went downstairs and found it was equally effective to remove the 'grey' areas where my cat rubs his cheeks across the corner of the sofa, something I had thought I'd have to wash to get clean.I have a mild reservation.I am more used to the furminator which collects the fur as it goes and I think may remove more hair more effectively from the coat because the day after I used the zoom groom on the cat I found he had left me a giant hairball, something that does not happen at all when I use the furminator. On the other hand he doesn't like the furminator as much and it is no use at all for getting hair off sofas, carpets, clothing etc. So I think there is room for both in your grooming arsenal: furminator for primary hair removal and hair ball prevention, zoom groom for a enjoyable polish and bonding session and to clean parts that other grooming tools cannot clean. :-) I didn't try running the flatter side of the zoom groom over the cat though, maybe I missed a trick there.

I have both the bristle brushes, wire brushes and the furminator deshedding tools and my cats hate all of them. We bought the dog version of this for our pups to help with bath time and grooming (which is equally amazing) and I decided to try it out on the cats. It was huge and awkward but worked amazingly on the cats and they loved it. We have 3 kitties and none of them like the other brushes we've used in the slightest and dart away when we get them out or brush them for more than a minute at a time. Since the dog brush worked so well, I bought the smaller kitty specific version. Our huge 18lb cat who hates being affectionate will lay in my lap for 30 minutes just to get brushed now.It seems like every time I clean the brush out, it fills up immediately after. It's ability to reach the undercoat is actually impressive. I alternate between a circular motion and going with the root of the fur. It doesn't trap and hold absolutely every hair, but it's easy enough to clean up so it's not a huge deal. The gentle teeth give a soft massage for your kitty's skin and evidently feels wonderful, so it's a good trade off. It's soft enough to brush the sides of their face, their head and the delicate areas around their legs and tummy without fear of hurting them or irritating skin. It's so much better than fighting them to brush their fur. Great buy!

My cat loves the Zoom Groom! I love it too because it's the only brush that actually removes enough fur to make brushing worthwhile. It does make a mess but that's only because it's removing so much fur. I would definitely not recommend brushing your cat with him on your lap while you are wearing black pants. I brush my cat in the middle of the carpet right before I'm ready to vacuum. I just brush all of the hair towards his tail and let it collect there and then just grab it with my hand and keep making a pile on the floor. The trick is to only brush with repeated, straight strokes in one direction because then the fur will mostly collect in a line at the back of the brush. If you try and go in circles or random directions then you end up with an even bigger mess. When I'm done I just throw away the big pile of fur I've created, rinse the brush in the sink and vacuum the carpet. I could never get my cat to sit still for any other brush but he comes running when he sees I have the Zoom Groom in hand. His favorite thing is to just rub his face on it and get a head massage. My cat is a notorious hairball yacker and when I religiously keep him brushed with the Zoom Groom there are no hairballs in sight and he is softer than ever. There is no better product on the market for removing loose fur from cats.
