I groom my Standard Poodle and I thought I could make do with the plastic snap-on combs instead of buying this blade. Why did I wait? I just used it today for the first time and it's worth buying!I tend to wait longer than I should between grooming because it's either an all-day event to bathe and groom my Poodle, or I pay a hundred bucks to have someone else do it. So by the time I get around to grooming, his hair is pretty long. I used to put a snap-on comb onto my clipper and take off as much hair as I could before the bath (why wash and dry all that hair I'm just going to cut off anyway, right?) But the plastic combs get caught up in the curly Poodle hair,or they fall off and I take a bigger chunk of hair than I had intended, or the comb gets all clogged up with hair and I have to take it off and clean it several times.Today I took off a wastebasket full of hair with this blade before the bath , then bathed and blow-dried the dog, then clipped his coat again with this blade to even it up and finish the groom. It worked great!I thought I'd have the problem of the blade not cutting the dog's hair, as other reviewers have mentioned, but once I made sure the blade was flat against the dogs skin, it cut just fine. It's also much easier to clip a dog when the coat has been blow-dried - I bought a "blaster" dog dryer (the Double K Challenge Air 2 speed) many years ago and it was definitely a good investment - it gets the curly Poodle hair nice and straight so I can clip and scissor his coat and make him look as nice as a professional groomer!I mentioned that I clip the dog before I bathe him - I have been told this is not good for the blades because the dirt in the coat will dull the blade, but I still do it anyway, first of all because I groom about 6 times a year, so the blades aren't doing a lot of cutting, and I haven't noticed they dull any faster than the blades I don't use on a dirty coat, and also because I don't mind sending my blades out to be sharpened.

I love my andis grooming tool for my dogs. I have a Bicion/shitzu mix who has a very thick coat and these bladed cut through like butter. I love them. They also last a long time. This is a reorder for me, after 2 years its time for a replacement as I dont have someone near by to take to have them sharpened. They are cheap enough that replacements are almost the same cost as the sharpening anyway. I always recommend andis to anyone who asks what clippers I use on my dogs.✭✭✭✭✭ - I love this product. it meets or exceeds my expectations and is great quality. I would recommend this to anyone.✭✭✭✭ - I like this product but it’s is not perfect. The quality is good and is as described, but it could use some improvements. I would recommend this to friends and family.✭✭✭ - This product is okay but it could be better. The quality is acceptable but it could use some improvements to make it better. I would recommend this to friends and family but advise of my thoughts about quality.✭✭ - This product did not impress me at all. It either does not work as described, is of poor quality, or is just not what I was expecting it to be. It might be okay for some people who are just looking for something cheaply made or inexpensive to purchase.✭ - I do not like this product. It is either very poor quality, a waste of time and money, or did not arrive in a timely manner. I would not recommend this product to anyone as it does not meet the quality standards of anyone and should be removed from amazon.

My wife already owned the clippers that this blade goes on when we got married. The old blade was starting to wear out so we bought a new one at the local pet store. The new blade did not work, and we were assuming the clippers were broken. Luckily, I did some research and discovered the differences between the blades and realized the #2 we bought just wouldn't cut it with our lab / chow mix. Another reviewer said they had the exact same type dog and recommended the #7. We bought it, and it works great. The dog's hair is very thick and this blade cuts it off like sheep's wool. Our dog does not like getting his hair trimmed, so if the vet were to do it, she would have to put him completely under using general anesthesia. This makes it a $200+ haircut, and the dog can barely walk for the rest of the day. We give him some benadryl to calm him down, put a muzzle on him, and hold him by a leash. It takes both of us to get it done, but it takes about 15 minutes and we save $200 each time. He doesn't like the haircut, but he's much happier with a fresh trim during the spring and summer. We have given him 3 haircuts with the new blade (he's a big dog, about 80lbs), and it's still cutting great. I highly recommend this blade and the clipper it goes on.

I own a Coton, their hair is like a handful of silky cotton, the hair is straight with a curl at the end, meaning that there is always a mixture of straight and curly ends. Plus their coat is of a somewhat sparse density, so it's important to get the entire cut at no less than 1/2", otherwise their pink skin will show through. Their hair mats extremely easily so it's important that the blade cuts cleanly without pulling or skipping. For Coton users, it's very important that the coat have NO mats (I use After You Bathe & blow dry to help keep mats from forming), otherwise this blade will leave skip marks or not cut at all. This Andis FC blade does the job very well, but it's important to keep a cooling spray on hand because it heats up quickly. But its cut is so clean that having to use cooling spray every few minutes is well worth it.I had been using a Furzone 3 3/4 blade, but found it didn't leave the entire coat one smooth length, and this was especially noticeable at a 1/2" length (summer coat).Of course, even with this Andis blade I still have to finish the coat with scissors, but that's true with any blade on a Coton coat.I look forward to continuing to use this Andis blade to get a pretty accurate, smooth coat.

I bought this blade because my hair is so unmanageable that about the only length that works for my hair is 3/4 of an inch all around. I had been using Wahl clippers with the No 6. plastic guard. However, I had found that the spacing of the teeth and the flimsiness of the plastic guard was allowing some scalp to pull up and it was giving me an uneven haircut. After doing much research and reading all the online reviews, I decided to splurge some money on an Andis clipper and on this particular guard. No complaints as far as the clippers and the quality of the guard are concerned. I am able to give myself a much more even hairdo AND in about half the time. The only reason I rate this 4 out of 5 stars is BECAUSE this Blade doesn't quite cut 3/4 of an inch. In Numbers speak, this blade would actually cut about a 5 1/2 (or about 17.5 mm short). TRUST me I'm very particular about my hair and hair length and I measured in different spots. But I think this only applies to a handful of us here on the face of the planet. For most of you, the blade should do a fine job on your K-9 i'm sure. AND for most of you that will use the clipper for human hair, a difference of a couple of MM should NOT really make a difference ;)

This Andis Ultraedge size 3 3/4 carbon-edged blade Leaves hair 1/2". Yes, I use it on my husband, and it is awesome. I have no idea why anyone would worry about using it on people if they will use it on their pets, but it is great. Makes cutting his hair so much faster. The blade does a lovely cut, no split ends, and it does an excellent job of keeping the hair length even. He likes a kind of "undercut" but not one that is so close the head, so this half-inch distance is perfect. Because it is so easy to use, I can do a five minute touch up any time he wants, instead of cutting it shorter than he wants so it lasts longer, because it takes so long to do it all with scissors.Easy to control, does require working in different directions (moving up the side, moving across) in order to catch all the hairs, and that takes just a bit of practice, but it is easier than I expected. The blade is shaped to be comfortable even used against the skull (rather than the soft parts of a dog).I've tried various plastic clip on trimmer combs, and they are pretty much useless. This works entirely differently than those.Worth it for making it easier to give my husband a trim. Time saved also makes it worth every penny.

I have a standard poodle with very thick wool. Down here where I live the summer temps are often in the mid-90's and sometimes the low 100's... WAY too hot for a poodle with a heavy coat! So through the summer, I shave his whole body down to a 10 (1.5mm). From snout to tail his whole body gets a 10. I was able to shave him completely every month for 1-1/2 years on one new blade. So you figure I shaved a 60 lbs dog from tip to tail a little over a dozen times on one blade. I just bought my second 10 blade because the first one finally got dull and won't clip him anymore. It seems cumbersome and expensive to have the blades sharpened so I just opted to buy a fresh new blade for the next year's worth of clipping. This is probably the most cost effective way to keep him groomed. Groomers like to charge over $100 for a poodle his size and sharpening the blades doesn't seem worth it. For approx. $20 (at the time of this writing) You get over a year's worth of full body clipping done. That's less than $2 a haircut (if you don't count the time I put in to doing it). I dare you to beat that! It's short enough to keep him from dying of heat stroke but long enough to prevent sunburn. I highly recommend this blade.

Dogs' dissipate heat through the pads of their feet so it is imperative that any hair between/around the pads be periodically trimmed; otherwise, your dog can overheat. Easier said than done because dogs' feet can be very sensitive and they get uncooperative quickly. I tried scissors many times, but if they are not razor sharp, they pull the hair and make the dog even more grumpy. Ultimately, you end up terminating the trim job long before the work has been satisfactorily completed and your dog suffers needlessly. I tried the Andis 5/8-inch wide, detachable blade and I WAS AMAZED at how easy the process was! Sure, my dog is still not overly cooperative about me trimming her pads, but in under a minute, you can trim one foot... and it looks absolutely fabulous. You just zip the blade between and around the pads and voila. There's also no need to worry about accidentally cutting their pads. On my first try, I had all four feet metiulously trimmed in under 5 minutes and they look great. The only drawback seems to be that they are not ceramic blades, so they may dull and heatup more quickly. Be sure to spray the blades with cooling lubricant so they are not too hot.

Absolutely amazing. Sorry it took me so long to buy. Had bought premium pet clips before at around 60 which were meant to be pro. Fine for my middle aged westie cross who took fright at a groomers one day. However my 18month spaniel x standard poodle has a very soft wavy coat that matts instantly when he plays and very fast growing. Spent a fortune at groomers every 4 weeks! So tried my clippers but they died mid cut. Did some research and bought this set. couldn't believe it really made that much difference. His hair seemed to fall off and he was a happy puppy. I rushed through it as worried about the heat building up but it was great. I had two little few minute breaks while i turned him round, reviewed my handiwork and gave him tweeties for being so good etc and that was plenty of cooling. Do NOT hesitate to buy these and dont waste money on cheaper - its false economy especially if you have anything with poodle in it or anything but the smallest of dogs. A great purchase. I got a 7fc blade as well as the 10 standard with it and for a first try the 7fc was better although i might try and go for a slightly longer blade for winter.

I tried to save some money and bought the Wahl haircutting kit (for humans) from Costco, and I can tell you that it was a waste of money. The cuts came out uneven and unprofessional looking. So, while I was at Petsmart, I watched the groomers there and paid attention to the type of cutters they were using: Andis cutters with Andis blades. Figuring that I could save the money in 3 haircuts + tips alone, I bought the Andis cutter. It comes with the #10 blade and I use it for the "sanitary cut" (what I call, "the peepee and poopoo areas"). I then bought the #5FC for giving the "summer cut" and the 3-3/4FC for longer cuts. I then searched youtube for videos on how to cut hair and experimented....And WOW,I started getting compliments after compliments - people ask me all the time where I get their hair cut, I tell them (proudly) that I do it myself. The trick is to get the right cutter and the right blade! I have two dogs and now I even do my family's and friends' pets too, and they would get the same compliments. Try it out, the worse that can happen is that your dogs would miss out on 3 salon haircuts.

Got this here as it was slightly less expensive than our local pet store (when it's not on sale) for literally the exact same product. It's an expensive item and it adds up if you need more than one size, especially in addition to the already expensive shaver - but it's a absolute must if you intend to use the shaver to the best of its capabilities. Don't even bother with the plastic guards, the multi pack of shields, as hair just ends up getting stuck and you have to remove it quite often. You may not need this for easier to manage fur, but anything more than that you'll need the two hundred plus dollar shaver plus this or whatever length blade. Although it's ceramic and not steel which is supposed to be much cooler,it still does heat up considerably to the point where it would cause pain - you'll need to turn it off every so often once you find that it becomes too hot. We suppose that's why professional groomers have more than one of the same size blade. Aside from that, it works as intended with our Andis shaver but can't speak of the fitment for other brands.

I bought the Andis 5-speed clipper recently and found the included #10 blade to cut too short on its own. Clipper combs helped, but sometimes the fur/hair wouldn't cut smoothly with the combs on. I decided it would be better to invest in another blade. My dogs are a maltese and a poodle, and we live in the south where the weather is usually not cold. We keep the dogs' hair short most of the year, so getting a reliable blade seemed like a good fit for us.I read that professional groomers liked this size 4FC blade (3/8") for summer cuts for maltese. It was very easy to change out the blade on my Andis clipper, and the 4FC blade left a nice, short (but not shaved) cut on my dogs.Although this blade costs more than the clipper combs, I think the 4FC size blade is a better investment and is more convenient than using the #10 blade with clipper combs. Taking good care of this blade with proper cleaning and oiling will make it last for many years.I definitely recommend it if you are cutting your dog's or cat's hair short but not wanting it shaved to the skin.

This length blade was recommended by a professional pet groomer. I have a Miniature Schnauzer mix dog and was having a problem using attachments on the #10 blade...still couldn't get that smooth look I wanted. Bought this blade and it is perfect...not too long and not too short a cut. This length blade is difficult to find in pet stores...they generally stock a #4FC (their longest cut blade) and a #5FC blade, and a #8FC blade, in addition to the stock #10 blade which comes with the trimmers. I also found that the store prices are slightly higher than found at Amazon.com (especially since you can qualify for free shipping).Great blade...love the AGC quick changeability of these type of blades.Since I trim 2 dogs and their coats require different length blades, I can change them in a snap without having to mess with screws, etc. This length blade is a good all-around blade...it leaves just enough hair on your dog without getting close like the #10 does, and you don't have to mess around with the attachments (which I find to be a pain really).

My Andis AGC2 clipper came with the #10 which I use for the face, feet and sanitary areas. I had purchased the #4FC which provides a clean, but still fluffy trim, but decided that I need the #7FC for the hot humid summer. I just trimmed my chocolate miniature poodle today with the #7FC and she looks much more comfortable in the NYC heat. I did feel that I had to go over the same areas more times than with the longer blade to make her look even given the skin tone shows. This shorter blade leaves a nice soft fuzz just slightly longer than her face area. Just be warned that with the #7FC, the skin is more exposed so a dog can get sunburn. (The #4FC is the shortest you can go to provide sun protection). As with the other blades, this one gets hot quickly and I spray it with Andis Cool Care often throughout. I use an old toothbrush to wipe clean when I'm done. All the Andis blades are well made and look very durable. I only wish they didn't get so hot so quickly. Maybe I'll try the ceramic blade next.

I LOVE these blades!!!! I ordered 0A, 000, 0000, 00000. I use these on my andis bgrc. My job gives us these clippers and blades but we cant take them home, so I got one for myself. Once you switch to detachable blades you will never want to go back to plastic guards. Great for professional use since I do dozens of haircuts a week and have never had any dulling of the blades, and it takes quite a few falls to actually chip a blade.. even then they still work fine. The bgrc itself is also very durable.. I cant tell you how many times its fallen off my station and still works. After a few months some blades start to make funny noises but they still work and I've found that realigning the blade helps.Perfect for fading and bald fades, no lines whatsoever. the 00000 is as close to a razor as you can get, therefore completely eliminating the need for a trimmer for necklines/around ears unless your doing a design. I will be using these the rest of my life!
