I have bought every type of comb, brush, rake for my Shih Tzu, as you will be aware, their coat is really long and dense. I brush her daily, but she still got knots, so i was kinda lost, where do i go now to get a tool that will keep her coat immaculate as it had been. So whilst flicking through Amazon, i saw this the Furminator - it will be back - in best Arnie voice lol - it was expensive & i will admit i did think about it for a couple of days before buying, then did buy it. It arrived & immediately i pounced on my dog, to see if it does indeed work as it said in the video and description..... I was very pleasantly surprised. Not only does it do what it claims, but she sat, something she won't do normally when being groomed. It didn't seem to be an issue to her being "furminated", plus the shock i got when i saw all the hair it took out. More hair than i thought i had dog. When i say don't waste your money, i refer to the other rakes etc, this genuinely does the job, yes it is high priced - but maybe you do get what you pay for and i will say i have paid so much more out in all the other grooming tools, wish i had found this one 1st to be honest. It doesn't cut the fur, it lifts the old fur out from under a thick long coat - though you can get one for your dog should it be a short coated dog - and removes the knots. I find those cutting devices scary, so am not keen on them, i used a little pressure and out came all this hair, with knots attached - little knots - It has a rubber handle and a great grip & makes grooming a pleasure rather than a chore. Let's face it, when a coat is long and very thick, it is a chore to you & the animal, but one that MUST be done. So would i recommend, most definitely!! Save your money, buy this, it won't disappoint

I normally do not write reviews, but the incredible job that this product does warrants my first! I have a lurcher that errs much more on the border collie than greyhound side, and so he sheds... a lot!To avoid confrontation with the in-laws over excess shedding, I bought the Large Furminator for Long Hair and used it on my pup straight away when it was delivered. Not only does it capture the hair quickly and efficiently but it is so easy to use with a comfy, ergonomically designed grip. I love the button that ejects the hair, and the size is perfect to pack when we travel places and I worry about shedding in others' homes. It also gets rid of the dried mud from our long muddy walks due to the teeth being so close together,so the hose can now become a thing of the past.In addition to this, it is gentle, providing you brush out any matts and tangles first, and I find it allows calming, bonding time with him.I have seen there are concerns about using it over bony areas, for example the ribs, spine and hips. Due to my dog being a lurcher he is all bone, muscle and sinew, and there have been zero issues. Ensure to brush gently over these areas; no one likes metal raking over their bones!I would recommend using a rubber brush first to get rid of big clumps of hair, or else I would imagine de-shedding with the Furminator alone would be very frustrating due to the limited capacity for large amounts of hair.

I kept seeing these brushes come up on Amazon daily deals so read the reviews and couldn't help but think this might be the answer to my dog grooming prayers. My dog is a German Shepard crossed with an Alaskan malamute and as such has that thick duel layer husky coat. Once a year she sheds her under coat but in doing so looks very tufts and scruffy as if she's never seen a brush! The cheap coat rake thing I already have doesn't do any good on such a thick coat. I bided my time and waited for the large dog long haired furminator to come up on the deals.Well, it arrived yesterday and with the winter having been so mild my dog is already loosing her under fur so we headed off to the garden to put this brush to the test.Wow! Within just a couple of strokes I could already see it was making a huge difference and ended up with enough fur to make a spare dog!Although the teeth on this brush look pretty sharp and are close together giving it a pretty mean look it does the job! My dog was wriggling with enjoyment as if it was really getting deep into her coat, loosening all the old fur and dead skin cells and she really seemed to enjoy the feeling of being brushed with it. It does exactly what I wanted and needed it to do and wish I'd got one a long time ago. It's just brilliant

A very well built quality gadget - not just a simple brush. I bought the Large Dog variety after reading other reviews hoping for a miracle. I have a working Golden Retriever (the smaller less furry variety) but it is very difficult to keep a hair free house with its type of fur - it is fine and floats everywhere if I don't brush my dog every day. The brush does remove a lot of the undercoat and it is easy but time consuming to use. It doesn't seem to remove much of the loose hair from moulting. For my particular circumstance it is not a life saver. I only use it once a month now and rely on a regular dog brush every day instead because it is a faster process and it removes the surface loose hair.Maybe it works better on a different breed of dog or on a Retriever with bigger fluffier fur? It would be pointless for a Labrador type of dog (I had a labrador before and a normal brush was perfect for it). It is a nice looking item and it works very well for removing undercoat hair but it is not the answer to owners with dogs who shed a lot of fur on a regular basis. It is an accessory for extra more thorough grooming and cannot be relied on as the only dog brush to own.

I was searching around the internet for something to help the extreme shedding of my bulldog Winston. He has fine, white spindly hairs that seem to cling to everything in my home. Being a dog owner I understand that this is to be expected from a lot of breeds, but wanted something to help reduce the amount of fur he was leaving around my home. And that's exactly what this product does, it's not a miracle cure by all means, Winston still sheds. But with daily brushing it has reduced the amount dramatically! Instead of having my black trousers turn white when he brushes past me, I hardly notice any fur loss. The comb itself is very easy to use. It has a large comfortable handle, with very good rubber grip. The teeth are very closely spaced, and it removes lots of fur! I will say be gentle at first as it does pinch a little if you put too much pressure on the comb. It's just a little `scratchy' now and I think he enjoys the `good scratch' it gives in on his back and the places he can't reach. He enjoys having his daily brush with this comb and I love the fact that my home is no longer covered with dog fur!

The FURminator arrived today and already I've used it on my massively moulting rottweiler Lily... Over the years I've tried various products to address the issue of her hair covering my home, my clothes and my car but unfortunately nothing has been up to the challenge... well that was until I tried this product. So far I've managed to half fill a plastic bag with my lovely pups fur and that was after only 10 minutes of combing her through with the FURminator and although I know that its going to take another few attempts to get all her shedding hair removed I would say that its success and I've finally found the tool to help me avoid my unwanted fur coat. The tool itself is easy to use and the soft grip handle makes it comfortable to hold whilst navigating around my pups coat, the only difficulty I found was when it came to my dogs fat rolls around her neck area and this required trying to entice my grumpy pup to stretch her neck to prevent the tool getting caught but after a few tried this became easier and is more of a reflection on the dog than the product. I would highly reccommend.

I had become sick and tired of little tumble weeds of dog hair rushing out from underneath my furniture every time someone opened or closed a door. Regular brushing and bathing of my Labrador did nothing to help and only served to give me a bad back. A friend recommended the Furminator brush for dogs and at first I was apprehensive due to the price tag. Anyway, I bit the bullet and hand on heart I will never ever go back to using any other dog brush on the market. During our first grooming session I was able to get a well know supermarket's carrier bag full of hair off my dog. I have continued to groom him daily for 5-10 minutes (or when he gets fed up and walks of)and the amount of hair removed has reduced to a couple of handfuls. I have noticed a dramatic reduction in the amount of dog hair about the house. So much so you could even consider eating something dropped on the floor. His coat looks wonderfully healthy and shiny and I have noticed he no longer gets that cheesey doggy smell and thus requires less bathing. I have even tried it out on the cats, minus the bathing, obviously.

My vet recommended this brush when I mentioned how much I disliked all the dog hair around the house. So I read the reviews and ordered a long haired brush in a medium size for my black Labrador. And I have to say that I am absolutely astonished by the result! Not only did it remove handfuls of hair the first couple of times I've used it, but already the house isn't covered in hair and my dog just absolutely loves the grooming - it's a great bonding session for both of us. The size of the brush is perfect as someone had mentioned the big one is just a bit too big. I've spent about 10 minutes twice so far brushing her but I'm sure with regular use this will be reduced. You can tell it get's quite deep into her coat so you have to take your time and just lightly cover sensitive areas like the belly but I'm lead by my dog because she enjoys it if it's not too hard. The brush itself is very sturdy and the hair is so easy to remove with the bush button activation. Definitely good value for money and I'm a very happy dog owner once again.

Sometimes you need to take notice of the fact that there are such a phenomenal number of good reviews for a product. This is one such time!I have a Kelpie who is a 365 days-a-year shedder, and the rolling dog hair clouds on my tiled floor had reached monumental crisis point this autumn/winter. Is it just our dog or is this a particularly bad year for shedding?!A groomer we know pointed us at this particular device, which we used within half an hour of receiving. You would never know that we ever brushed this dog (with something ineffective, evidently) if you had seen the fistfuls of loose hair that this furminator brush took off him. And since then? Well, the dog hair tumbleweed has stopped.A few loose hairs but no longer the need to specifically vacuum up dog hairs multiple times a day.So I therefore declare this brush a miracle. The dogs coat also looks beautiful too, since all the dull looking undercoat hairs have been removed. He is glossy, silky, and handsome.

Bought this after much thought as have previously bought combs, brushes, slickers... as our two Labradors moult all year and vacuuming is just a constant twice daily event,Used the Furminator on one dog initially and he loved it and was so patient whilst I whittled away at his coat. After relieving him of about a 1lb of fur I started on the second dog, who hates being groomed, and was quite relieved to find that as well as doing an excellent job, the Furminator was tolerated by him and he actually stood still for me. Needless to say I find this product excellent and after a few sessions you can reduce the amount of time spent on your dog.I was so impressed I used one on our long haired cat whois always getting his hair matted as his undercoat is a bit soft and curly while his top coat is sleek and straight. It works wonders on him and no more matted hair as the Furminator glides though and takes out all the loose hair underneath. Fantastic and a must for pets.

I know it seems a lot for a dog brush, but I had a collection of brushes and still spent my life wading throughFluke's shed hairs everywhere, watching visitors leave in their smart black suits, covered with dog hair. So I splashed out on this gismoand hoped it was true...well it is believe me. I also bought a Morphy Richards Never loses Suction Hoover from Amazonfor £119...so now I live in a dog hair free zone...Do introduce your mutt to this yellow and black comb with chicken and ham and no brushing at first. Then just gently draw it down his backwith no pressure at all...Hmm Chicken/Yellow comby thing..Hmmm...It is tempting to see just how good it is first time but take a couple of days toletyour dog look forward to this...Then you can really comb him through and you'll be amazed..Don't keep going too much till you've got a bald dog and a newcushion stuffed..but with this Furminator and the right hoover you CAN live in a dog-hair free home again...:))))

I have bought the large, long-hair comb for use on a Malinois. It is perfect and does exactly what it says on the tin. I have already noticed a huge improvement in the amount of loose fur that the dog has shed around the house. Hopefully I will have no more giant tumbleweeds appearing overnight.I'm not too sure about the difference between the short- and long-coat versions of the brush. I have also used the same comb on a Dobermann (short coat) and it works fine.If you have a number of dogs of different breeds, my tip would be to buy just one comb and match that to the largest dog with the longest coat.I don't think there is any need to buy multiple combs. But if you want to save some cash,I think you can get away with buying a medium comb for either the Dobermann or the Malinois. With a giant, long-haired breed, however, it strikes me that you will need the largest comb available. This is because a larger comb means you will need fewer strokes.

Even though this product is intended for 'Long Hair', I started using this on a labrador - shorter hair. At first it seemed to remove only a few loose hairs on outer coat. Still, more than the conventional dog comb I had just used. Pressing a little harder, after gaining confidence and learning how to use it a bit, I was surprised just how much loose hair there actually was! It came out really easily and the carpet was covered! Dog loved it, kept wanting more and rolling in the loose hair! I've only done it once over the past week and shedding round the house has reduced considerably. Also, this 'large' size is surprisingly large. I'd say way too big for a cat (if, like me,you had thought it might just be suitable).A recommendation to the designers - the FURejector button would work much better if it pushed plastic strips either side of the comb (ie above and below), as thick clumps of hair aren't actually pushed out of the teeth.

As an indoor samoyede owner, I have some tools for doing our co-existence easier :) for example, our vacuum cleaner is chosen according to suction power, turbo-brush and tools for de-shedding any conceivable things and surfaces. Presence of Furminator in our weaponry is one of the biggest contributions for sustaining all the necessary maintenance at minimum. And with this slightly facelifted model is even easier: today I obtained a parcel with our new Furminator and being outside for a short walk, I tried what can be done with our, according to my opinion very well groomed-out Heidi's coat.In 5 minutes, I had 2 piles lying on the ground :) one white flappering pile of white hair was Heidi herself, second, not very smaller, was a pile of her fur from hard-to-deshedding parts above tail and from tail itself, from belly etc. So I can said that performance of this model is even better than older one, which was superb.

I never thought I'd rave about a dog grooming product, but I am absolutely amazed at the effect of the Furminator. I have an elderly dog, who can no longer tolerate going to the groomer, so I bought a rake to take her tatty undercoat out. It was obvious that it made her uncomfortable, so I stopped and just brushed her. I looked again at the Furminator and decided to try it. I've used it for ten minutes on one side of her body, just to see if it made a difference: it did...and what a difference. Her hair no longer feels coarse and it is literally shining, like it's been conditioned! She didn't even flinch when I used it and allowed me to use it without getting up and walking away. She looks like she's stepped out of the groomer's (well, one side of her does, so far). It really is worth every penny and I'll now be looking at getting other products in the range. For reference, I have a Cavalier who is long haired.
