This is a great blade, as are all the Andis blades I have bought so far. If you're like me, and buzz your hair extremely short, this blade makes a quick buzz a BREEZE...You might be saying "Sure, just like any blade does..."But my point is not just the great product, it's also going with a '1' vs a '1 1/2', '2', etc...It's a very slight difference, but if you go that SLIGHT bit shorter, you'll get more even cutting, more hairs cut on each pass, etc. The blade itself is great though... high-quality, edges aren't too sharp, it's pretty easy to clean, etc. This blade and length is also GREAT if you like to frequently 'touch-up' your buzz... The '1' will trim hairs back to even within a day or two after a cut...Doing this with a '1 1/2' or '2' is MUCH more difficult... the hair needs longer to grow back before the blade will cut 100% properly. I can use this '1' every few days if I want, and --always-- have my hair look flawless.More on the length you choose... With a '1 1/2' I may have to do a handful of passes, and then maybe even track down a few hairs in harder-to-trim areas, or growing in different directions, etc... a real pain. NOT with this blade! One pass: Perfect! At most, you might need a 2nd pass, but at that point you're 'golden'. If you cut your own hair like I do, that's priceless- knowing you got it right, easily. It was a VERY noticeable difference, for the better, stepping down to a '1'.I'd also -strongly- recommend the (non-Ceramic Edge) "OUTLINER" blade. This '1' will give you a perfect buzz, and the "OUTLINER" blade will give you an almost-razor-quality 'shave'... great for the neck, facial hair, high contrast lines, body hair if you wanted, etc... Any time you want it 100% gone. ESPECIALLY if you're already buzzing your hair this short, the rest has to be that much 'tighter' to have it look right... The "OUTLINER" is key! They make a great combo. (In all fairness, the '1' is honestly short enough to just do your entire head/neck and be done with it, too... but the "OUTLINER" is awesome for the fine details.)As I said, I own a handful of these blades, and they're a solid product. No regrets. I was looking for my 'perfect combo'... found it!Last but not least, for the guys out there, or women shopping with their man in mind... The ladies LOOOOOOOVE this length! No joke. Less than a '1' gets 'prickly' like stubble and looks bald. More than a '1' starts being too soft. When I buzz my head with this '1', it has a velvety, almost suede-like, or sharkskin texture to it... and the ladies -always- wanna touch! If it's for yourself, you'll love the reaction. If it's for your man, you'll NEVER stop playing with his hair! It's addictive.Either way... You win. =)

This blade works well for zero-gapping an Oster Fast Feed clipper. The number of teeth match the old metal blade well and allow hair to flow smoothly. The longer teeth allow setting the blade to "zero gap" for a very close trim/fade. Be careful with this as the blade can be set to extend beyond the stationary metal comb, which will instantly cut your scalp/neck etc. The blade is surgically sharp. One caution is that your blade may stall when first installed. I needed to bend the pressure spring in the Fast Feeds slightly to relieve some pressure of the blade against the metal comb. The spring is the metal strip that is secured with two screws, visible when the blade is disassembled and removed. The spring is the piece the small grey plastic strip fits onto. Simply remove the two screws from the strip and bend each tab very slightly with pliers so the strip lies flatter. If the clipper gets very noisy and/or pulls hair, you have gone too far and need to bend back a bit. Only a very small adjustment is needed. Both tabs must be bent the same amount when making the adjustment.I also needed to slightly sand the plastic case as the ceramic blade would contact the housing when the blade was opened fully. Others have solved this by pushing the pressure clip toward the cutting end of the clipper while tightening the two screws. In my case, this was not sufficient. See YouTube for a good video on where to sand. One final issue is that the guard attachments may now become very noisy. The purple Andis magnetic guards (single magnet type) are now quite noisy, especially with the clippers zero-gapped and fully open. The new ceramic blade is slightly wider and not quite centered on the clipper. As the blade vibrates, the ceramic blade extends beyond the left edge of the metal comb (as seen with the clipper pointed away from you). The blade actually hits the guard on the left edge. The cure is easy. I used the Dremel to grind down about 1/8 inch on the left and right edge of my guards so they sit with the lip of the guard below the ceramic blade, but still leaving enough material so it catches the stationary metal comb. That quieted things down nicely. The mods do not affect the use of the original blade, other than a slight readjustment of the tension spring might be needed.

If you use detachable-blade clippers you can't go wrong with this (unless you receive a defective product). Recent Andis units have assembly errors, I've found. So, of course, I've had to adjust them or suffer inferior performance. Be extra careful while adjusting this; loosen the bolts (which have been tightened too much) & push the cutter towards the comb teeth with the help of a flat surface (hold product at 45 degrees). Check the alignment, tighten the bolts & check again. Good to go, except for a minor issue: some of the ceramic material was already coming off right out of the box. Not a problem for me as all the teeth were intact. But that does affect adjustments ever so slightly. The packaging could be better; once opened it's nearly useless as a holder, & one needs a holder considering the fragile ceramic cutter. Once used, oil & store properly. Finally, the test: I got the best buzz cut ever with this. So close, so fresh & easy. A properly-adjusted trimmer did not cut any more hair so .1-.2 millimeters is as close as one gets without shaving. Leaves slightly more than electric razors. With longer teeth than many trimmer combs it hardly bites or pulls. Once again, handle with care: even when adjusted properly you may cut a scalp (as the clipper travels, especially over uneven skin, the skin is pushed up & chewed/sliced off by the cutter). If one holds the clipper properly & cuts slowly with minimal-moderate pressure they will avoid cuts. Hold the skin for insurance. Stream of blood - slices like a straight razor! Oddly, the comb got hot within 2-3 minutes during the cut; could be clipper-related (Wahl Mentor - highly recommend). Obviously this is great for fading if one prefers detachables. As with most detachable blades I've handled common guide combs will not attach. That's not to say guide combs are impossible to use with detachable blades, just learn about the product & what's compatible. No need to buy the Andis "UltraEdge Outliner" detachable blades; save & buy additional ceramic detachable blades or cutters if you need them.

I groom my Standard Poodle and I thought I could make do with the plastic snap-on combs instead of buying this blade. Why did I wait? I just used it today for the first time and it's worth buying!I tend to wait longer than I should between grooming because it's either an all-day event to bathe and groom my Poodle, or I pay a hundred bucks to have someone else do it. So by the time I get around to grooming, his hair is pretty long. I used to put a snap-on comb onto my clipper and take off as much hair as I could before the bath (why wash and dry all that hair I'm just going to cut off anyway, right?) But the plastic combs get caught up in the curly Poodle hair,or they fall off and I take a bigger chunk of hair than I had intended, or the comb gets all clogged up with hair and I have to take it off and clean it several times.Today I took off a wastebasket full of hair with this blade before the bath , then bathed and blow-dried the dog, then clipped his coat again with this blade to even it up and finish the groom. It worked great!I thought I'd have the problem of the blade not cutting the dog's hair, as other reviewers have mentioned, but once I made sure the blade was flat against the dogs skin, it cut just fine. It's also much easier to clip a dog when the coat has been blow-dried - I bought a "blaster" dog dryer (the Double K Challenge Air 2 speed) many years ago and it was definitely a good investment - it gets the curly Poodle hair nice and straight so I can clip and scissor his coat and make him look as nice as a professional groomer!I mentioned that I clip the dog before I bathe him - I have been told this is not good for the blades because the dirt in the coat will dull the blade, but I still do it anyway, first of all because I groom about 6 times a year, so the blades aren't doing a lot of cutting, and I haven't noticed they dull any faster than the blades I don't use on a dirty coat, and also because I don't mind sending my blades out to be sharpened.

This blade is expensive but worth it.We purchased it to use with the " Andis Excel 5-Speed Pet Grooming Clipper with size 10 CeramicEdge Blade, Silver Sparkle ". We also purchased a set of clipper combs but those were not even used. (It really depends on how short you want to go - but using the 7FC alone they certainly did not look 'shaved'.) We replaced the standard 10 blade that came on the clippers, and used only this blade with nothing else.Four dogs later (including a Lab Mix, a Yorkie and and Shih Tzu) they all looked, I have to say, amazing. Over the years they've been to different groomers (even some that were very expensive) and they all looked better than they ever had.We could not believe how easy it was! It does take time - maybe 30 to 45 minutes - but you know your dog better than anyone. We just kept talking with them and they were absolutely fine -- perhaps more comfortable because they know you best.We are also glad that we got the more expensive 5-speed clippers. Someone indicated that sometimes a lower speed is best and we found that to be the case.Sometimes the blade did get a little warm (hard to avoid), and after a 30 second pause it was fine to proceed. Using someone else's recommendation, we just set the blade on a gel ice pack and it cooled right down.Definitely oil the blades between cuts.By the way, in the photo you can see two screws. You do not need to remove these to install or replace the blades. You simply pull the top of the blade towards you to release it, and then slide it up and off. The screws hold the blade to its mount. We groomed with the hair and fur -- not against the 'grain'. We were able to groom legs, tummies, and other sensitive areas as well.Someone said that they can't believe they've been paying to do this all along, and we'd certainly echo that sentiment. Andis has come up with some excellent products.Very highly recommended.

I love my andis grooming tool for my dogs. I have a Bicion/shitzu mix who has a very thick coat and these bladed cut through like butter. I love them. They also last a long time. This is a reorder for me, after 2 years its time for a replacement as I dont have someone near by to take to have them sharpened. They are cheap enough that replacements are almost the same cost as the sharpening anyway. I always recommend andis to anyone who asks what clippers I use on my dogs.✭✭✭✭✭ - I love this product. it meets or exceeds my expectations and is great quality. I would recommend this to anyone.✭✭✭✭ - I like this product but it’s is not perfect. The quality is good and is as described, but it could use some improvements. I would recommend this to friends and family.✭✭✭ - This product is okay but it could be better. The quality is acceptable but it could use some improvements to make it better. I would recommend this to friends and family but advise of my thoughts about quality.✭✭ - This product did not impress me at all. It either does not work as described, is of poor quality, or is just not what I was expecting it to be. It might be okay for some people who are just looking for something cheaply made or inexpensive to purchase.✭ - I do not like this product. It is either very poor quality, a waste of time and money, or did not arrive in a timely manner. I would not recommend this product to anyone as it does not meet the quality standards of anyone and should be removed from amazon.

I have 5 standard poodles and a giant schnoodle (giant schnauzer/standard poodle mix). I groom for home, not show and use a grooming table and dog clipper. I used to use a shorter blade but found that it gave my giant schnoodle itchy bumps (known as schnauzer bumps) I read that longer blades wouldn't irritate her skin and that the 8 1/2 blades were used by many groomers to prevent the bumps from occurring when grooming. For simplicity sake, I just went ahead and groomed my whole "herd" with the 8 1/2. One of my standard poodles gets razor burn very easily and the 8 1/2 works great on her without irritating her face. I have 6 blades that I shuffle through, as they get warm.I scissor cut the top of the head on the poodles.Twice I have accidently nicked them with scissors, so I try and only use the clippers as often as possible. Scissors can take a serious chunk out... needing stitches or staples to heal, but clippers can only nick.At the end of each haircut, I soak the blades in H-42 (purchased on Amazon) H-42 is miracle stuff in my opinion. Keeps the blades sharp, disintegrates gunk in them from the dogs skin, oil and dirt, and really prolongs the blades life. Really saves me money (6 blades costs around $150, so I want to take care of them)I have included some of my recent clips so you can see what an 8 1/2 blade cut looks like.

Works perfectly with my Andis UltraEdge 2. I actually prefer the jagged teeth blades to the finishing blades for cutting my Havanese, it just goes faster and smoother (which I know they appreciate). This is a good length for one of my six - the only one with an uber-curly coat (and no way do I have the time or patience to dreadlock him, which I think is the 'thing' for the curlier Havs after a dreaded Hav won an AKC National event) for his summer cut. His fur is so much thicker and silkier than the rest that he really needs the shorter cut. One thing I'd like to suggest, if the blades getting hot is an issue (and I think it is for most anyone),I've invested in 2 of almost every blade I have and I keep one in a Ziploc in the freezer to 'chill' while I use on the clippers. I check every couple of minutes on my forearm and as soon as the blade heat is uncomfortable to me, I swap the blades. It is more expensive, obviously, but not even worth mentioning when you see a poor fur-baby on the 'net with burns that require a vet because some big-box groomer used a student to groom the dog. (Plus, I have six... that was $240. plus tips every six weeks. I have the clippers, the table setup, and two of every blade and still paid off within two grooms of all six.)

I own a Coton, their hair is like a handful of silky cotton, the hair is straight with a curl at the end, meaning that there is always a mixture of straight and curly ends. Plus their coat is of a somewhat sparse density, so it's important to get the entire cut at no less than 1/2", otherwise their pink skin will show through. Their hair mats extremely easily so it's important that the blade cuts cleanly without pulling or skipping. For Coton users, it's very important that the coat have NO mats (I use After You Bathe & blow dry to help keep mats from forming), otherwise this blade will leave skip marks or not cut at all. This Andis FC blade does the job very well, but it's important to keep a cooling spray on hand because it heats up quickly. But its cut is so clean that having to use cooling spray every few minutes is well worth it.I had been using a Furzone 3 3/4 blade, but found it didn't leave the entire coat one smooth length, and this was especially noticeable at a 1/2" length (summer coat).Of course, even with this Andis blade I still have to finish the coat with scissors, but that's true with any blade on a Coton coat.I look forward to continuing to use this Andis blade to get a pretty accurate, smooth coat.

I bought this blade because my hair is so unmanageable that about the only length that works for my hair is 3/4 of an inch all around. I had been using Wahl clippers with the No 6. plastic guard. However, I had found that the spacing of the teeth and the flimsiness of the plastic guard was allowing some scalp to pull up and it was giving me an uneven haircut. After doing much research and reading all the online reviews, I decided to splurge some money on an Andis clipper and on this particular guard. No complaints as far as the clippers and the quality of the guard are concerned. I am able to give myself a much more even hairdo AND in about half the time. The only reason I rate this 4 out of 5 stars is BECAUSE this Blade doesn't quite cut 3/4 of an inch. In Numbers speak, this blade would actually cut about a 5 1/2 (or about 17.5 mm short). TRUST me I'm very particular about my hair and hair length and I measured in different spots. But I think this only applies to a handful of us here on the face of the planet. For most of you, the blade should do a fine job on your K-9 i'm sure. AND for most of you that will use the clipper for human hair, a difference of a couple of MM should NOT really make a difference ;)

I have a standard poodle with very thick wool. Down here where I live the summer temps are often in the mid-90's and sometimes the low 100's... WAY too hot for a poodle with a heavy coat! So through the summer, I shave his whole body down to a 10 (1.5mm). From snout to tail his whole body gets a 10. I was able to shave him completely every month for 1-1/2 years on one new blade. So you figure I shaved a 60 lbs dog from tip to tail a little over a dozen times on one blade. I just bought my second 10 blade because the first one finally got dull and won't clip him anymore. It seems cumbersome and expensive to have the blades sharpened so I just opted to buy a fresh new blade for the next year's worth of clipping. This is probably the most cost effective way to keep him groomed. Groomers like to charge over $100 for a poodle his size and sharpening the blades doesn't seem worth it. For approx. $20 (at the time of this writing) You get over a year's worth of full body clipping done. That's less than $2 a haircut (if you don't count the time I put in to doing it). I dare you to beat that! It's short enough to keep him from dying of heat stroke but long enough to prevent sunburn. I highly recommend this blade.

Absolutely amazing. Sorry it took me so long to buy. Had bought premium pet clips before at around 60 which were meant to be pro. Fine for my middle aged westie cross who took fright at a groomers one day. However my 18month spaniel x standard poodle has a very soft wavy coat that matts instantly when he plays and very fast growing. Spent a fortune at groomers every 4 weeks! So tried my clippers but they died mid cut. Did some research and bought this set. couldn't believe it really made that much difference. His hair seemed to fall off and he was a happy puppy. I rushed through it as worried about the heat building up but it was great. I had two little few minute breaks while i turned him round, reviewed my handiwork and gave him tweeties for being so good etc and that was plenty of cooling. Do NOT hesitate to buy these and dont waste money on cheaper - its false economy especially if you have anything with poodle in it or anything but the smallest of dogs. A great purchase. I got a 7fc blade as well as the 10 standard with it and for a first try the 7fc was better although i might try and go for a slightly longer blade for winter.

I bought this size 7 blade to shave my Siberian Husky. Be aware that this is a skip tooth blade, which is what I was looking for, but they don't seem to have it listed as a skip tooth. This blade worked wonderful, and gave my dog a nice 1/8th inch cut. No worries about her getting sun burned, and it's still a very nice short length. This blade fit my Oster power max clipper perfect, and Andis blades cost much less then Oster blades, so this was a great deal. If you have a chow or a husky, or any dog with a thick undercoat, I would highly recommend this ceramic skip tooh blade. The ceramic blade stays much cooler and you can clip for much longer. It does get warm, but not real hot like the others do.Oster also makes a similar blade for thick undercoats, and its called the Oster TDQ (take down quick) blade. It cost about $10 more then this blade, but it is not ceramic. Both are great blades for very thick undercoats. I was about to give up on shaving my own dog, until I found this skip tooth blade. You will not regret this purchase. The only thing I am unsure of is if this blade can ever be sharpened, due to it being ceramic.

I have gone through SO MANY pairs of clippers in an attempt to shave my dogs in the summer - from cheap to very expensive. I finally found the Andis clippers and they have been amazing - have lasted several years.I have 10 (yes ten) cocker spaniel dogs who all get very thick coats over the winter - among them, their fur can range from blonde, straight and pokey, to darker black/brown and thick and curly. These blades manage to make it through them all. I usually have to buy 1-2 replacement blades per year to get everyone done. However this price is pennies compared to if I was taking them each to a groomer!!I've given this blade 4 stars because I've also tried the Andis Pet #10 Titanium blade, and it works much better than this one, for a similar price. This ceramic one works ok and will get the job done, but the titanium one just seems to last longer before becoming dull. The blades are easy to snap on/off as needed, and I can also swap blades out as they begin to get too hot. Keep the blades oiled properly and they will last longer as well. I would highly recommend the Andis Pet blades system, it has been a godsend.

I tried to save some money and bought the Wahl haircutting kit (for humans) from Costco, and I can tell you that it was a waste of money. The cuts came out uneven and unprofessional looking. So, while I was at Petsmart, I watched the groomers there and paid attention to the type of cutters they were using: Andis cutters with Andis blades. Figuring that I could save the money in 3 haircuts + tips alone, I bought the Andis cutter. It comes with the #10 blade and I use it for the "sanitary cut" (what I call, "the peepee and poopoo areas"). I then bought the #5FC for giving the "summer cut" and the 3-3/4FC for longer cuts. I then searched youtube for videos on how to cut hair and experimented....And WOW,I started getting compliments after compliments - people ask me all the time where I get their hair cut, I tell them (proudly) that I do it myself. The trick is to get the right cutter and the right blade! I have two dogs and now I even do my family's and friends' pets too, and they would get the same compliments. Try it out, the worse that can happen is that your dogs would miss out on 3 salon haircuts.
