PlayStation 4 Venom controller charger review.· ContentsYou get 2 battery packs, the charging rack and the power supply.· Construction.Solid, in the main sturdy, and a design style that fits in with the PlayStation design, sleek and slightly futuristic.Looks good beside the PS4.The only minor concern here is the very thin ‘holding clamp’ on the base that the battery packs click-lock into, these feel very flimsy and feel as though they could easily break after prolonged use.· InstructionsCould be improved, yes it’s a simple enough device and it didn’t take much working out however a few pictures wouldn’t have gone amiss as some of the mechanics about the fittings weren’t ‘obvious’e.g.flipping out the tiny catch mechanism prior to insertion. Also a little confusion about fully charging the battery packs with the pad before use. Both of mine said they were already fully charged when I tried this out of the box.· Ease of useGenerally whilst this is a relatively simple device to put together and use a few of the fittings canbe mighty ‘fiddly’ to put together, namely fitting the battery pack to the controller can be a bitof a faff needing some dextrous finger work. The main problem being to try and fit the USB leadfrom the battery pack into the controller whilst trying to keep open the spring-loaded catch that holds the pack to the pad due to the tightness of the fitting. Similarly clicking the packs into the charging rack feels quite forced and there is a worry you will break something, however this may simply be the newness.· Practicality (Is it any good?)This thing is brilliant, initially you may think it’s either pointless or little use if you have only one pad but you get 2 battery packs so you can always have one charging plus the internal charge of your pad. This means you can literally game forever without the PS4 lead having to be attached and the battery packs alone last ages, much longer than the pads internal battery. Also these things seem to charge really quick too. The only minor negative is if you have big hands like mine you may find your fingersoccasionally catching underneath as you go for the triggers, no big thing but be aware there is an added bulk to the base of your pad you will have to get used to.· Value for MoneyAt the price of an indie game or half a DLC pack this is a great bargain for the convenience of not catching your knees in a damn USB cable. Go get one.· Rating4* out of 5* A great device I’m giving it 4 rather than 5 stars simply because of reservations about the longevity of some of the smaller plastic fittings however should this last the distance I’d happily upgrade to a 5* in time.

If you are a confirmed PS4 gamer and enjoy long sessions with FPS games such as Destiny or Call of Duty then this twin docking station is of interest to you, mainly because of the two add-on batteries that are supplied with it. Each of the supplied batteries doubles the time between controller charging, as they are the same size as the internal battery at 1000mAh.The batteries are slightly fiddly to install - slide out the MicroUSB connector and plug it in to your controller, then, holding open the spring-loaded flap slide the battery back onto the MicroUSB plug. A bit fiddly and probably advisable to get a second person holding the controller whilst you do it - there is a risk of breaking something otherwise,as I nearly found to my cost! Incidentally the battery pack design is changed compared to the images on the product page.Once on, the controller still fits comfortably in the hands without obscuring or complicating access to any buttons - unless you have really big fingers or a very unusual grip. If this is a problem for you then there are other solutions to increasing your battery life, such as replacing the internal battery with a bigger one, although this will invalidate your warranty of course. To use this docking station for charging you will need to have the battery pack installed so if, like me, you have three controllers, you’ll only be able to use this to charge the two that you add the included batteries to - and you’ll only be able to charge them via other means by first removing the add-on battery. Unlike my Sony docking station however it is very, very easy to drop a controller/battery combination into the dock for charging, the weight of the controller keeping the battery in contact with the charging contacts - hopefully. There is an alternative way of putting the controller into the dock which latches it into position - great for, say, a wall mounting option except that there’s no way to do this.So overall - a great way to extend controller battery life without invalidating your warranty, with the downsides that you can’t charge a controller that doesn’t have a battery installed, and when the dock breaks or mains adaptor dies, you can’t charge the external batteries because they don’t themselves use a MicroUSB socket but three exposed metal contacts.

As the Playstation 4 controllers contain a rechargeable battery, my play time can be interrupted if I need to charge during gaming sessions. This can become a little inconvenient. I already own the official charging stand, which is docked next to my PS4, requiring me to set the controller down in place (probably a good thing as taking regular breaks probably a good thing!). This is an officially licensed stand by Venom, a fairly reputable name in the gaming peripheral market. Having a Sony stamp on it is reassuring. The dock itself comes with a usb charging cable which you can attach to any USB powered plug, or your PS4 console. You can simultaneously charge two controllers at the same time. There are also two power packs which attach to your controllers, which does add a little bulk, but can be vital if you plan to play a game for an extended period of time. The overall aesthetics of the docking station and battery packs are fairly basic. Made from white shiny plastic, they will compliment the white PS4 controllers, but do not look good with the (more common) black peripherals. The battery packs promise an additional 18 hours of game time. I have now been using them for around 10 hours (not continuously) and they have not been charged yet. The main benefit I personally found with this docking station was the addition of the battery packs, but from an aesthetic and functional perspective, I honestly do prefer the official Sony charging cradle. This will of course vary from each individual's preferences and playing styles.All-in-all, this is a very handy and convenient accessory. If you do not need the extra juice in your controllers, I would definitely opt for the official Sony charging cradle, but if you truly wish to extend the game time of your controllers, you can't go far wrong with this docking station. 4/5

Judging from my experience with the unreplaceable batteries that came with my PS3, I kind of expect my dual shock 4 controllers to eventually need charging every 20 minutes of use. I also dislike cables in general, so anything that reduces their number on my desk is welcome. This charging station comes with extra batteries that attach to your dualshock 4 controllers without adding too much weight. They work in conjunction with the existing battery inside the controller, extending the uptime to 18hrs according to the manufacturer. It's a difficult thing to test, but I have noticed that they can go for a lot longer without charging. The dock is made of glossy black plastic,so it should fit in nicely with the black PS4 and most other home entertaintment equipment. I found inserting the controllers to by quite easy, but it can be a little fiddly to take them out without detaching the battery packs. There's a knack to wiggling them out which takes a little while to learn, hence the loss of a star.Overall: a good way to extend the battery life of your controllers as well as get rid of some clutter.

I bought this as i was swapping between controllers two to three times a day especially on games like destiny since getting these i managed to finish uncharted on a single charge over two days was a real boost, the battery's are large but not obstructive i find my tips of middle finger rest ever so slightly on battery and i actually find it rather comfortable about 2 mins into an Overwatch match completely forgot was even there. also if you find that putting your controllers down while watching Netflix or movies if you tend to accidentally hit R2 or L2 these will actaully really help prevent that as a added bonus i find the controllers stand better on a flat surface with them attached easy toset up but i recommend not using the clips on the stand if your charging with controller attached can be a pain to remove but if attached to controller the weight holds it perfectly. alot lighter than i expected and the grip is very secure their not gonna wobble or move during play, really good investment will not be removing these from controllers

Really simple to use.Inside the box you get the charging stand, a mains power supply unit which comes with a choice of UK or European plug adaptors, and two rechargeable battery packs. The battery packs connect directly into the USB connection on the top of your controller, and they're really compact and light so they don't add weight or bulk to it. Once the battery pack is connected you can then just slide the controller down onto the charging stand, and gently push until the docking clip clicks and the controller is now held in place. The LED display shows red whilst charging and turns blue when charging is complete which I found to take approximately one hour from totally flat to fully charged.Great to be able to charge both controllers at once,or to have the option of charging one whilst using the other! The reason for dropping one star is that I don't feel the stand is as sturdy as it could have been and could easily break if dropped or someone fell against it. The sides in particular are thin and a bit flimsy.

This review is written in pure ignorance. The games equipment in this "des rez" are firmly the property of a sprog, namely my son. If said individual could spend as much time dedicating himself to literature as he does on X-Box and PS's ranging from 2 to 4 he would be a modern day Tolstoy. Unfortunately, this is wishful thinking, and as this review is written a battle is raging in another room led by someone called the Witcher who appears adept at hacking and slashing his way through entire civilisations.Having sort detailed comments from my son on this product and its effectiveness on charging wireless controllers I am reliably informed that the product is "rad" and really "tidy". To interpret,he is very pleased with this docking station that charges 2 x DUALSHOCK4 wireless controllers simultaneously. This may mean something to a person thinking of purchasing this product so hopefully this review is helpful. Alternatively for your reviewer, ignorance is bliss.

The litmus test of a given product's usefulness is whether it lives up to its billing and makes your life simpler. Whilst Venom's officially licensed chargers may not be blessed with the sleek looks of official Sony PS4's peripherals, on all other counts they're a success. Capable of charging two dual shock controllers simultaneously, Venom also provide a pair of battery packs that clip onto your controllers if you start running short of juice during long gaming sessions. Yes, it adds weight to your controllers. But it's not a huge amount, and for most people will prove a small price to pay for saving your session.Being officially sanctioned by Sony ensures that you can be 100% sure that theproduct isn't a dodgy knockoff that might not live up to billing - or explode and burn your house down in the middle of the night. Although if you're planning an 18 hour gaming session thanks to these battery packs, your brain might explode instead.

One of the issues with the PS4 is how quickly you can go through batteries on the handsets. If you use it a lot then you'll spend a lot of time charging them up.This docking station is a good solution to that problem, it comes with a pair of battery packs, stand and PSU so it allows you to rapidly charge in a practical way. The stand isn't the best constructed and is a little flimsy - wouldn't have expected that at the retail price for this. The charging unit is genuinely useful and goes from empty (red) to full (blue) in just over an hour so if you're a serious gamer you can swap two pads around for on the go gaming! It's far from an essential product, especially at the price, but it's also a very useful solution that does a simple task well.Pricey, but fills a need.Recommended

I always use a product like this on all my consoles over the years and this is without exception the best yet.The unit is a docking station that has 2 rechargeable batteries and once plugged in you charge the battery pack. An indicator light turns blue once charging is complete. Also as an officially licensed product, you can be confident of quality.PS4 controllers can be always primed and charged for play, simply switch the rechargeable battery packs and play on. Charging is fast, fully loaded again within a couple of hours and has a life of around 18 hours. No down time in the middle of an important match/battle/challenge or mission!Look good, tidy too as cuts the clutter down and gives those controllers a home too when not in use.

This docking station comes with 2 rechargeable batteries, mains power power supply and adaptor. An instruction leaflet. It looks very well made We charged the battery pack first. Charging indicated by light which changes to blue when charged and then charged the controller. There are clear instructions give on how to attach and detach the controller but in fact this is easily done. the chargeable battery pack can be recharged on its own or with controller. My husband loves it because it gives him more playing time ad I love it because it removes the clutter of wires from the desk The fact that it is officially licensed gives reassurance.

Got two of these (had three controllers, now purchased a forth) - absolutely brilliant.Batteries are great and don't really change the feel, although they do make the controllers a bit heavier – my six year old daughter didn’t seem to mind the extra weight.Docking station – This is the game changer… It makes changing the controllers so easier. We’ve got these docks tucked away under the TV unit and you don’t need to look to get them seated right, you just know, but you can check easy by the LEDs at the front.

This docking station is a relatively cheap way of ensuring you get more gaming time per battery charge in an easy to use gadget. It comes with two rechargeable batteries, plus a mains power supply and an adaptor. The instructions are really clear too and it helps to keep all the wires tidy.
