Firstly I'd like to say that I'm glad I bought this model, I love hood and in general this is a really good representation of it.Pros-- Photoetch, most models still are putting it in the box as a basic feature when lets be honest it can add so much... but I'm glad to say this trumpeter model does have a small amount!- The hull was in really good condition, it had no dents or dimples!- The guns in the turrets can point up and down!Cons-- Not the most detailed model I've done, I feel the Warspite next to hood is much more detailed and the parts require less sanding as well as them fitting together better.- No blast bags on the guns!! This really brings down the look! it looks too much like a toy!- Finally the cost...

I have built the Trumpeter HMS Repulse before and the Hood is the same quality .You can make your Hood look like Museum standard using Flyhawk etch , brass barrels ( Trumpeter sell these aftermarket with Brass Propellors ) also Wood Deck makes a big difference . I bought Brass Mushroom vents and 3D printed Turrets that are more accurate and detailed ♡ ( from Micromaster on Shapeways )Overall well fitting kit . Just take your time and dry fit . Note if you fit metal anchor chain you must scrape off plastic ' anchor chain plastic detail . Also the Hull degaussing cable on sides is inaccurate and best removed and etch cable used instead .

I purchased the model from Amazon after finding it quite difficult at the local model stores unable to stock it for some reason and unable to get hold of it after being asked. I received the model kit with no issues except it coming in a huge box with loads of packaging. Not a problem. Gave the model to my dad he has taken up the hobby since retiring and has many other models but like I say struggled with this one so was a perfect Birthday gift for him. Very well done all around.
