This breast pump is certainly not the best one on the market, but its pretty good value when its on offer and for those who aren't 100% certain about expressing I think its OK. Its certainly a good price (when on special offer)vs some of the other much more expensive ones on the market - and if you're not set on breast feeding and expressing, its a good place to start - otherwise you'd be wasting 2-3 times the money if you didn't use it...Yes, there are some problems as highlighted by other reviews...its not the quietest (my other half says he can now hear the noise in his sleep!) and you do have to make sure you use it correctly to avoid the issues raised in the other reviews (ir,keep it straight and upright or the tube sucks up liquid etc) but if all the instructions are followed it does the job and does it pretty well.I actually bought this product when it was half price from another retailer when I was 6 months pregnant, knowing I wanted to breast feed and thought that expressing would be of value to me and our lifestyle - when my babe was born I had to express A LOT in hospital using one of their massive industrial pumps and on coming home was reluctant to feel like a cow again, until a few weeks had gone by. This pump certainly isnt as good as one of the hospital ones, but in reality is anything at home going to the same??? As I had quite a lot of milk I found this pump expressed quickly and I was soon getting 4oz or more in abour 15 mins - then 6 weeks later I came to use it one evening and zip, nothing...just a flat noise when it was meant to "pump"...I was thankfully able to return the pump under the 12 month guarantee to where I bought it from - I did however by another one as it was on offer on Amazon and I have had no problems with it what so ever.I agree with the reviewer re using it without the additional comfort sleeve on the suction part, it does pump more efficiently and once you get used to the feeling, its fine and gets the job done quicker...who wouldn't want that!?It comes apart easily and you can throw everything (except tube and motor bit) in the steraliser and its ready to go again - do make sure its dry before use to avoid the liquid up the tube issue as mentioned by others though. All the other TT products that go with the pump are great, think the storage pots are super, I even bought some more, and as I had both size of the bottles I got some extra white lids so I could store 5oz full feeds in the freezer and still use the big bottles for other feeds.I have been using the pump pretty much daily and now I have learnt how to avoid some of the problems, its great - I am glad I didn't pay some of the higher prices for a pump that I may not have used.

I got this pump primarily because I had really sore nipples during the first month of breast feeding. I used this to express the milk for a few days so that my nipples could heal. Having used an electric pump in the hospital I opted for a manual pump as I only wanted to use it sort term and I thought being able to manually control the pumping would be more gentle on my nipples. I selected this particular pump purely on price. After using it for a few days I found my nipples started to feel better. An added bonus to using this was that I found the closer to nature teat actually helped my little one latch onto me better as he had previously been putting his tongue to the roof of his mouth so the nipple was under his tongue.Feeding him with the bottle for a few days rectified this issue.Four months down the line I am still using the pump whenever I go away. I express and store some milk before I go and then use the pump when I am away to avoid engorgement. As the pump is manual it can be used discretely. The main cons with this is that the milk does drip from the part that comes in contact with the breast so you do have to use gravity to ensure all the milk is collected in the bottle and not in your bra. Also it is quite tricky to get the hang of disconnecting the handle from the pump for cleaning. However note it is a robust little design so don't be afraid to pull the handle off. Other than that the disassembly is straight forward. I have also found that the white plastic has discoloured after 2 months of cleaning it in a steam steriliser and is now yellow. With regards to the other items in the kit, I have never used the microwave steriliser as I prefer the Tommee Tippee electric steam steriliser. It seems unnecessary to include this with the pump as most people will have a full size steriliser anyway. I have never used the milk storage pot either but instead bought the Tommee Tippee milk storage bags as you can store much more milk and put the bags in the freezer. The breast pads are however really good and far better than cheaper pads that are too thin (note you only get a trial pack within this kit but can buy boxes of 50 pads for around £4).I haven't tried any of the other manual pumps available on the market so cant compare them however for the price this pump is definitely good value. Also most supermarkets sell the Tommee Tippee accessories so it is easy to get additional bottles and teats, etc.

Pump can be easily assembled with simple go to instructions. The pump itself is a little noisy but it is easy to get used to. I think the suction is ok and worked well for me but the cup itself is not particularly large and I suspect would not suit all breasts/nipples. You need to hold the pump in position to allow for the suction to begin and also to allow for a rhythm to be established but I think this felt quite similar to the natural sucking motion of established breastfeeding and easier and quicker than the manual pump which I have used previously. The storage bags are a great idea but in reality this set only comes with 12 and they are not reusable nor are they recyclable.Replacement bags are expensive if you plan to use them on regular basis. The storage box is rather large for the fridge or freezer but provides handy compartments to allow you to organise the pouches should you wish. There is a neat little attachment to allow the pouch to be used as a bottle without having to transfer anything from one place to another introducing potential contamination.I found it easier; and produces less waste, to use the attachment and pump into a bottle and store in the fridge for the short term. The pump unit can be mains or battery operated which makes it flexible for use in the home or on the go. Pouches/bottles can be gently heated in warm water or within the Tommee Tippee food/bottle warmer (sold separately) or in a container of hot water.Cleaning after each pump is simple and Tommee Tippee include a handy microwavable box which you put all of your pump parts in and a little water and microwave until steamy. Just make sure you sterilise this way leaving time to allow the parts to dry and drain before re-use.The Bags are a great idea; but for regular use they are somewhat expensive. The remains of the kit works well offers flexibility in use; and easy cleanup.

I developed mastitis decided to buy an electric breast pump to help resolve it. I initially bought a Medela Mini Electric based on the reviews and was disappointed, I found it painful to use. The Tommee Tippee breast pump was half price in Mothercare and we had vouchers too (I paid £27 for it), so I decided to give it a go despite the reviews it received here. I was very impressed with it. The silicone sleeve made it gentler on my sore and inflamed breast and it was easy to express whilst massaging. The main complaints in other reviews were that it was difficult/fiddly to put together. I didn't have this problem at all, I found it easy to clean and put together after I had done it once. The other complaint is that moisture creeps up the air tube and causes the pump to malfunction. I admit that water and condensation does creep up the air tube, no matter how well you dry the parts. I've had this pump for 2 months now and have used it on a regular basis, so far I haven't found this to be a problem (I pump for between 15 and 30 minutes) and the air tube dries out quickly. The only (minor) problem I have with this pump is that now my mastitis has resolved I find that the suction isn't strong enough on the highest setting to express efficiently. This can be improved by removing the silicone sleeve. I feel this pump has been much maligned, for moderate use this pump is ideal.

I usually use a hospital grade Medela Symphony, but the hospital gave me this for when I'm out and about. The Symphony costs around £2000 so to compare the two is a bit unfair.... but actually the Tommee Tippee manual comes out surprisingly well. It's easy to assemble, and very easy to use. The shield is quite frankly massive, and I wish it was clear not white as it's quite hard to line up correctly without being able to see your nipple. Unlike all the medela range it's a one size fits all approach, unusually the tube that connects the shield to the pump is extremely short and I find my nipples get hit against the end of it, not great for milk production or comfort. It's a bit tricky to clean the pump itself, but not impossible so long as you do it before the milk dries. The box is a good size and extremely handy for taking the pump out with you.But to be honest these are niggles, for just over £10 this is a brilliant piece of kit. I wouldn't fancy using it every day as it's quite tough going on the hands and as the suction doesn't adjust it's very painful if you have any cuts or soreness already. Importantly I get around 80-90% of the milk volume I do from the hospital grade pump that costs me £45 a month to hire. For occasional use or while out and about this pump is a great buy, no it's not as comfortable as breastfeeding but I'm yet to try a pump that is.

I was using a Tommee Tippee manual breast pump with success and decided to purchase an electric pump to make life easier. I was a bit apprehensive about this one due to the hit and miss reviews, but due to price and having being pleased with the rest of the Tommee Tippee range, I'd thought I'd give this one a go.I think it's unfair to expect it to perform as well as a hospital grade pump, but it performs well for a fraction of the cost. My baby is 3 weeks old and I have been using these for the past week and a half and use it to pump 4-5 times a day, getting between 3-8 oz depending on the time of day. The pump is easy to assemble, comfortable to use and I get a fast flow.I am a 34G and do not have any problems with positioning of the pump. Sterilising is also easy, especially as it comes with everything you need to do it in the microwave. People complaining about it taking ages are being a bit unfair I feel - bottles still need to be washed and sterilised regardless of which brand you use!Downsides? It's a little noisy and occasionally the suction tube comes detached when pumping, but that's usually because it hasn't been attached properly. On the whole, if you want an affordable and easy option, I'd recommend.

I breast feed and by no means am I embarrassed to do so, but I don't feel discrete. So to feel more comfortable in public I wanted the option to give my baby a bottle of breast milk. I only use a bottle for when eating in restaurants or other public use, I've used the pump a maximum of twice a week. I have been using this pump for 4 months or so and find it easy to wash and assemble.I have two daughters, a 4 year old and now 6 month old. I had the same pump with my 4 year old. When she was a baby I tried to express, but after a long time pumping and not getting much out. I tried my daughter with a bottle, but she wouldn't take it,so after a few tries I gave up and just breast fed.For some reason my second daughter will feed from a bottle with no problem. When it comes to expressing I follow simple rules than make expressing much quicker. On the last night feed (she sleeps through) I use one breast, then on morning feed I use same breast. So basically, one breast is nice and full.I lean forward, no idea why this works, but I find it does. Some say looking at your baby, she is always with me, but doesn't seem to matter if I look at her or not.So to sum up, this pump if good and handy for occasional use.

Breastfeeding wasn't for me, but I was producing a decent amount of milk and didn't want it to go to waste, so thought I'd try using this as it was on offer, and glad I did! Easy to clean and sterilise in my cold water steriliser, also easy to assemble. The pump works well now I've got the hang of where to place the cup etc, I do feel you have to lean forward slightly to help the milk flow down better, but not an issue for me, I usually watch the TV while it does it's thing...I don't know how good this would be for anyone who wants to solely breastfeed, I use this machine roughly 6 times a day and get enough milk for my baby girl to have a good 2/3 bottles a day but with formula as well.Haven't tried to use it with batteries as I only pump at home and use the mains, so can't comment on how well it works with batteries. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the Tommee Tippee bottles either, but once collected I simply transfer the milk into my NUK ones, so not an issue. I had a problem with a little kink in the air pipe, but contacted Tommee Tippee and they sent me another one without issue.Overall, really happy with my purchase, suits my needs well.

We’re huge fans of Tommie Tippee and their products which are always well made and designed. This pump system is no exception. It’s a starter set and really has everything you could wish for included - pump, steriliser, 6 pads, 20 pouches, case, 2 bottles and 2 teats. The design of all these accessories is excellent from the natural teats to the different settings on the pump allowing you full control over the process. The punches are a great idea and it saves on sterilisation time. However, they are not reusable and once you’ve used your 20 that’s it. We’ve bought an extra set of 20 for a fiver from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tommee-Tippee-Express-Go-Pouches/dp/B019W1SJFK - you can get them slightly cheaper if you buy them through Subscribe & Save.So a bit of an inconvenience but not too expensive. The storage case is a novel idea. It takes up a bit of space, especially if freezing, but is great for keeping them in chronological order and easy storage. It holds 12 pouches. Although this can’t be used as a manual pump it does have the option of either mains or battery power. Overall very impressed.

I've been using this pump for over six weeks now, ever since my milk has come in. It was a difficult start but as you don't really have much milk production in the first week I think it is reasonable. The pump turns out to be very efficient as weeks go by, it takes me about 10-15 minutes to pump 4-6oz at 6-7 weeks.I like the cup, which is really comfortable and the funnel is big enough and doesn't create too much pain to the breast (mind you I had to order a larger funnel for the Medela mini electric). Suction is good and after a couple of times to practice you do get a good hold on how to do it comfortably. You can also do it with only one hand. One down side is the parts are not easy to clean, especially if you use the tommee tippee brush, which is utterly useless!!Considering its RRP I would think it is expensive but I did get it at half price so it was a good investment. I'm pumping 1-2 times a day and the pump is wearing out ok, just considering buying another one given amazon is doing half price again.Would recommend it to those who consider expressing a couple of times a day. Hope it helps!

This is the second pump I purchased and am so glad I did. I have low breast milk and wanted to express as a way of increasing my supply. I bought a different electric pump and could get approx 10ml a day. After getting very frustrated and upset, my bf counsellor broke the news that not all women are compatible with every pump. This was the only pump that my local supermarket stocked as upon hearing this news, I dashed out in desperation to find a new breast pump.I have found that I am now able to express about 50ml of milk with this pump and have not changed an of my other circumstances. I found the suction is just right and not at all painful as with my other pump.I have deducted one star as I found the pump quite difficult to assemble. The instruction sheet shows images of the parts but each bit looks the same. After a few weeks though, I have got the hang of it. I don't use the gel insert for the cup part as I found I just couldn't get any milk out with that there. It also has the benefit of being mains and battery operated so ideal if you are going away.

My baby couldn't attach to my breast so I used this pump for the first couple of months whilst mixed feeding.I found that the suction on this pump was strong, milk seemed to flow at a fair pace. I've never used another pump but I did look up how much milk I should be getting per x time back when I was expressing and it seemed on par. You had to get the suction cup perfectly positioned on the breast though otherwise it was useless. The steriliser is good, easy to use, just add water and put in the microwave. The parts of the breast pump fit together easily with no problems. The reason for four stars is it is so loud! I've heard other breast pumps that aren't quite so loud but this one was constant.I liked to try and escape for a break when I went to pump if someone else was in the house but i would be cursed with this pumping noise so struggled to watch tv or listen to music.Overall a good pump for the price bracket and did the job for a couple of months (until I stopped breast feeding. As far as I know it still works 16 months on)

When my husband first bought me this pump it was for me to use to pump a few bottles so he could help with feeding our little one. However, our son had problems breastfeeding and we reluctantly realised that we would have to switch to bottles. I really wanted to give him expressed breast milk so I began to pump a lot! I found that I could pump enough for him, but it took a long time and some of the milk leaked back... Then I read a review on amazon which said to remove the the soft plastic collar. I did so and couldn't believe the difference! I could express a full feed (6 ozs) in 10-20 minutes! And it didn't leak! I used this pump to pump exclusively for my baby for 8 weeks.I then rented a hospital grade pump because when baby was poorly we realised how quiet they are and husband couldn't take the loud motor noise any more (it is very loud). So, if you can tolerate the noise and some discomfort of not using the soft shield I'd say it's great, especially at the price!

My wife previously tried a manual pump and it was a lot of effort with little reward – she quickly gave up. This electric version makes it a lot easier and is a lot less hassle. One pain when expressing is that you have to sterilise the container. One advantage of this product is that you can express into pre-sterilised pouches (which are included) and then put them straight into the fridge or freezer.Regarding how long milk will keep, there is the “rule of 6” – up to 6 hours at room temperature (though I wouldn’t leave it that long), 6 days in a fridge and 6 months in a freezer.Tip: To avoid confusion & stress, label the container with the date & time the milk was expressed. This prevents worrying about how old the milk is (and possibly feeling you have to bin some or all of it).If you are freezing the milk, it helps to write the volume on the container too as it will vary. You can express manually too using this product but it is a lot more effort.

I was pretty unsure about buying this breast pump after reading so many mixed reviews on it and not having used one before. It was down to half price at £50 so i thought id give it ago as most other electric pumps seemed to be much more expensive. On arrival looking in the box and at the instructions i initially thought it looked very complicated but once youve had a good read and done it a few times you soon learn! I find the pump to be suitably efficient for what i need, the suction seems good to me (although i have only had for a few days at the mo so cant comment on the long term). The pump has 3 settings so if your finding it uncomfortable you can always turn it down.It does come with one tommee tippee bottle but i have spares which makes storing easier as you can only attach these bottles to the pump then just pop them straight into the fridge when done saves faffing around. So, so far so good, i would deffinatley reccomend at £50 anyway!
