Firstly it should probably be noted that I have a plentiful milk supply and as such when I pump I do not need a massive amount of suction to get quite a substantial amount of milk out so I do not know what the situation with the pump would be if I needed more assistance. That said over the years I have used a large number of different pumps and have found many pros and cons for them all - no perfect solution as yet!This particular pump is very simple to put together and use. It comes apart easily for cleaning and each piece seems solid and not likely to break easily.When pumping I found this to be comfortable and not too tough to operate - some I have used leave you with aching hands in a very short time.I did find that it could be a little frustrating as if I pumped too hard part of the suction device at the top of the pump slipped out of place. This meant I had to be careful with what I was doing and not be too rough.When taking the pump apart, it could be done quickly and easily and cleaning did not take very long at all.My baby does seem to accept the bottle that is supplied so it is easy to transfer from pump to baby without having to search out a different teat.Finally I would say that if you are starting out pumping then you could do far worse than this little pump as it is so simple to use however if you are having supply problems then you may want to look at a more powerful option due to the slippage of the suction element I experienced.

I bought this to help my milk supply after my newborn daughter struggled to feed, and was thoroughly impressed. I used a (much more expensive) electric pump with my previous child, and was surprised to find this was just as effective. Very easy to use - It really is as simple as it looks. Very easy to clean and sterilise and has a handy stand to stop it falling over. I found it expressed milk as easily as my previous electric pump did, and with little more effort - It's saved my baby needing to go back to hospital.It has, however lost a star because I found that the suction bit at the top kept coming off every time I pumped, which was incredibly frustrating (and messy!)however this was easily fixed with a small piece of tape across the top.Also, I'm a little disappointed that it didn't come with a teat - Although this wasn't advertised, it would have been a nice touch and would mean that it would have been a complete set. As it was, I had a choice between either buying a teat, or buying a bottle to feed the milk from. For me, I ended up needing neither and syringe fed my baby until my supply was enough and she was able to feed herself, which she is now successfully doing.Altogether, and absolute bargain and am so pleased with this, especially given the price.

This was awkward as I am giving our friend who has *just* had a baby all the baby things to try out from Amazon vine. So when I gave her this I suddenly realised I was about to ask her to review something quite private and personal. Good news as a new mum she wasn’t sleepish at all. Just me. So apparently this is quite comfortable and once you get a good seal expresses the milk very well. She has tried an electric one but she felt it was a little too impersonal and she felt like she was a cow in a milking shed ... so not a good vibe.She liked this as she had more control over speed , comfort and it was less intimidating and didn’t require battery or mains power.It was also very easy to keep clean and that obviously was very important. She was happy to see it goes into her microwave sterilizer for bottles etc. so no problems there either.

I think a manual pump is a good idea for first time expressers, using an electric one straight away can be a little overwhelming and with manual I like that you have complete control over the expressing.I use a mixture of both electric and manual, I find manual is good for travel or staying with relatives as it's more discrete and doesn't require power and it is much cheaper for those on a budget.For just £20 at the moment on Amazon, I am very impressed with the Jolie pump. It's an attractive design, and comes with the bottle, pump and a teat, it's an all in one and is very useful and easy to sterilise. I found it collected my milk easily, comfortably,and then you have the teat ready to feed.Very useful and recommended as a fantastic budget pump but from a great, reliable brand.

My son's girlfriend is expecting her first baby and I got them this breast pump so that she can express milk when she goes back to work and he can feed the baby. We haven't tried it yet, but it looks to be a good solid piece of kit. The pump itself attaches to a feeding bottle and a teat and lid are supplied as well. All made of durable plastic which should be easy to sterilise, the pump works on a vacuum principle with a simple handle that you push down. Theoretically it could be done with one hand whilst holding and feeding the baby from the other breast. The part which attaches to the breast is cushioned. The set includes a stand for the bottle. It's compatible with other NUK products,so probably a good idea to get a couple of extra bottles to go with it. Reasonable price.

The following review was provided by my daughter: This NUK Jolie Manual Breast Pump is a very simple manual breast pump, and having used a few different ones, this is no better or worse than any of the other makes. The pump action is smooth and easy, and it's fairly comfortable to use. Comes with one bottle, which is good quality. Its easy to take apart and reassemble, and also to clean. A nice compact pump that is perfect to use when away from home, and at this price, the value for money makes it a good choice over some of the more well known brands

This is a really gentle,efficient breast pump,and the pack includes everything you need; as well as the pump you get a bottle,screw ring,sealing disc, teat and cap,as well as a stand so it doesn't fall over.The pump can be cleaned in the dishwasher and sterilised in a microwave steriliser,apart from the cushion. It's easy to use and can be operated with 1 hand. The cushion is really soft,and the whole thing makes expressing milk much easier. I think it's great value for money.

This is an ok pump that does what it says. My breast sat in to the sucker nicely and it is an easy lever action to express. Suitable for bigger boobs too as others caused me untold grief with larger boobs!Down side is your hand gets tired after a bit, especially in the earlier days before your milk comes freely.It is a bit faffy to manage the angle comfortably with big boobs and is only compatible with NUK bottles but generally speaking, this is a very good manual pump.

This is a simple and easy to use manual breast pump from NUK. It is well packaged and out of the pack you have the breast pump which consists of the suction pump, the breast cushion and bottle and also contained in the pack is a bottle cover with teat .A large user manual is also enclosed. It does pump effortlessly and gently . The breast cushion is very comfortable and soft. This is a very simple but effective product. It is good value for money.

Great for use when travelling as you don't always know whether you'll have a power supply handy. This is also handy for if you electricity goes off and you need a manual rather than electric pump. It is rather hard on the hands for prolonged use but that is true of all manual pumps - especially if you're used to electric ones normally. It is very well made and great quality though and also cubes with a bottle to add to your collection

A manual breast pump that is comfortable to use, easy to clean and sterilise and allows you to adapt your pumping to your own rhythm.A manual breast pump has the advantage that it lets you truly adapt to what suits your flow best, if you have concerns about hand cramp, dont, this is comfortable on the breast and the hand, infact I found that I often favour the convenience of a small manual pump over an electric one.

If electric pumping is not for you then give this one a try. Good value and good quality. So easy to use and certainly to take apart to clean and sterilze. It's more comfortable than others we have tried, I mean you will never find one that feels uber comfy but this one is very close. Easy to pack up and take on your travels if needed and for the price it's a bargain.

Fantastic pump.NUK seem to have sized up all of the usual fiddly pieces making this pump really easy to put together.It is very easy to use and feels a lot gentler than similar pumps made by different brands. Other pumps have left me feeling bruised but not this one.I was able to pump a lot of milk in little time.Would definitely recommend

Nothing beat an electric pump for convenience but this manual pump is handy for a backup or for travelling or for simply wanting something less impersonal than an electric pump. It’s pretty easy to set up and use. While none are especially comfortable this one isn’t too bad at all. At around the £20 mark it’s pretty good value for money.

This breast pump gives good suction. It's not as labour free as a plug-in one, but it is more portable.This will hold 150 mL of milk. It's dishwasher safe and made of silicone. It's nice quality, although there is no carry bag included.This pump is compatible with NUK bottles. It comes complete with a detailed user manual. (Aunty B)
