Having read some of the reviews here I felt compelled to add my own.I was given this on loan from my sis-in-law. I had no idea at the time that id actually come to use it having decided during pregnancy to EBF. Once DD was here things were very different and I had to use the hospital breast pump. When I got home I never thought this pump would do the job, but it did. Very well.I used it several times a day, every day and it took about 20 minutes to completely empty one breast. (My sis-in-law said she used it loads too and if anything over expressed causing her to have very full, sore, massive...well, you know!)I wasn't given the instruction manual with the pump. How hard can it be to put a few obvious bits together and flick a switch? As time went on and I needed to pump more I decided to buy a more heavy duty version so brought the Medela Freestyle to do both boobs at the same time. It was a waste of money. No power at all so the bottle just didn't fill! Having wasted £250 on a second hand one (or thereabouts) I sold it on at a big loss and immediately went back to the mini.Downsides of the mini are; It is a bit noisy. That's it.When I owned this pump the breast shield was fixed and you couldn't buy other sizes from Medela to fit you better. It was a bit big for me and so too much of my boob would get sucked in! :0/ (At least with the Freestyle you could change the sizes.) I emailed Medela a few months ago to give them feedback and say that it was a shame I couldn't change sizes and they said they have now made an adapter so smaller breast shields can be fitted and sent me one free of charge. So over all its a real work horse and is capable of much more that it claims and does a good job of it!I've returned it to my sister-in-law now and no doubt she's lent it to another friend. Now i'm pregnant with baby 2 ill be buying my own Medela Mini Electric.

I have first bought the Philipps Avent electric pump which was an absolute nightmare for me. Everyone recommended the medela swing, but it honestly was a bit much to invest, especially when you don't know how good the product is and how well it is going to perform. With this kind of 'personal' items return and refund isn't simple either so I thought I would give the cheaper version, the mini electric, a go first. It turns out to be a worthwhile investment, it works very well, although in terms of efficiency I don't find it better than the tommee tippee manual pump I use. However, of course, it is less labour some with an electric pump. The only downside is the noise it generates, it's really bad!!Unfortunately for me expressing in the middle of the nights tends to give best results so that means I either go into the kitchen and do it there will the medela mini or just stick to the tommee tippee manual pump itself - of course I would choose the latter option!Going back to work in a few weeks and I'm not quite sure how to express with the medela mini electric in the office. Although 90% of the employees are female and most of them are mums it's still a big awkward to generate such noise and let everyone know what is going on!If the noise doesn't bother you, have a go, it's really worth a try!

I bought this pump to help satisfy my greedy 3 week old - who wants an extra feed at night when I am tired.I have tried various manual pumps in the past with my first child, among them the Boots own and the well reviewed Advent pump. The Advent was useless and never worked for me...it is still in the box -the Boots pump failed after a month's use and was returned - it wasn't very effective. The Medela Mini Pump does what is says on the box - very effectively. It is simple to use, easy to clean with not many parts and pumps very quickly, painlessly and efficiently. In less that 10 mins I have a bottle for by 3 week old...The suction is brilliant - you can increase the suction at the beginning to get the milk flowing, then reduce while you pump the rest. It is noisy - which is why I have given it 4 instead of 5 stars, however, who cares, it is £40 less than the next equivalent pump and does the job - it is not like others have indicated too noisy to hear the TV or Radio - but you can't pump in secret...but that's not a bad thing, as everyone knows not to disturb me if they hear the milking machine!Don't waste your money on a manual pump - go for this it has made my life easier!

I was looking for an electric pump for occasional use and this one seem's ideal. I have the Philips manual AVENT pump and have found it not always to work and regularly had to rebuild it while expressing milk (not the most hygienic process considering you have sterilised everything). So decided to look for another just to express enough milk to mix with her baby rice. I bought the Medela mini electric pump over the more expensive Medela pump as I am already six months into breastfeeding so shouldn't need it for much longer, and preferred the price. I have found it great and to work efficiently. Can express 2 oz in five minutes, It's just what I needed. I am sure if you needed to use it more it would cope. Also easier to clean and rebuild than the AVENT pump. The only reason I gave it four stars was it's a little noisy and I think you require a manual one sometimes for the odd night you get engorged, but I think I would of said the same about any electrical pump. You need to ensure you retain the vacuum when expressing, but I have found this to be less of an issue than the AVENT.

I bought this pump second hand on Ebay as I already had a Medela Swing and wanted to express both sides at the same time without too much expense. In comparison with the Medela Swing, the mini does not have a 2 phase action (the swing pumps quick short pumps then longer ones to imitate how your baby would feed). The mini is also really loud, but I have found that the noise actually settles my baby, so not so much of a con after all.The mini is also smaller than the swing, making it easier to carry around with you and only has one cable (the swing has a cable and a pipe)I do use the pump on its maximum setting and find that I get decent volumes when using it.I would say that the amount of milk that it takes out is equal to the amount when I used the hospitals double pump and its just as quick (when only pumping one side at once with the hospital one). All in all I would have happily bought this item new at full price (had I not already bought the swing) and I would definitly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable breast pump

I’ve been through a few electric and manual pumps in my time and this one is by far the best. I struggle to express usually and can spend a long time trying to get out quite a small amount. I decided to spend a bit more money than I usually would on this type of product and I’m glad I did. The pump has helped express far more milk in a much shorter time than any of my others ever did. It is noisy but in my experience all of the electric pumps that I have used in the past have been. Although I mention above that I spent more money on this product than I usually would, it is still an excellent price for this particular make and after shopping around I found that Amazon was the most competitive in price for this model.Overall a good product and I would buy again.

This pump was very reasonably priced for an electric pump. I previously had a manual pump and just couldn't get on with it.The Medela Single Mini Electric is very easy to assemble and disassemble and, because of this, is simple to sterilize and store.I manage to get a solid 3 ozs in just under 7 mins (this is all my little one needs per feed). I can do this one-handed which helps me feel more relaxed and, in turn, express more milk.It is not as loud as I thought it would be, although this wasn't terribly important to me as I only express at home. Having said that, if I did need to pump away from home I would have purchased a different model. This product is brilliant if you're looking for an occasional, efficient, affordable pump.

I bought this product because I needed to express in order to increase my milk supply. It's very easy to use and assemble.I found that after it has pumped the main milk supply, the last bit of milk comes out really slowly - however if I pull it off the breast slightly and then put it back in line with the suction it expresses a lot of milk! I normally do this until I'm completely empty. The suction is powerful but you can adjust it to your comfort level. I also love that there's no leakage while pumping. I also have a tommee tippee manual hand pump but found it doesn't completely empty your breast and it leaks while I'm pumping. So in comparison to the manual pump it's a great product and would definitely recommend it.

When I was preparing for the arrival of my baby I knew I wanted to B/feed exclusively. This proved hard work and so I wanted to express milk so he still had the goodness. I tried other manual pumps on other peoples recommendation and none worked for me, I wish I had purchased this one at the start as it would have saved me a lot of money. It is small enough to pop in my bag if I wanted to. I liked the option of being mains or battery operated which makes it more convenient to use. It's very easy to use and has good suction so can express several ounces in a short amount of time, which is great considering you don't get much time to fit expressing in with everything else you're doing.Woulddefinitely recommend

Hello,In January 2016 I purchased on amazon Medela mini electric breast pump. In February from one day to another it simply stopped working and it was kindly exchanged by Amazon (with an excellent service). Yesterday it simply stopped working again. I was using it and briefly stopped, switched it off and after 5 minutes I started using it again and it just would not work (!?). I do not know why. I did not drop it etc. It was fine and then all of a sudden it would not work. I am not sure whether it is on warrantee, but would you be able to help me? Is there any trouble shooting I should do? Right ow I cannot live without this pump :(I would be very grateful for any advice,help......Thank you.Gosia

I am getting on very well with this pump and it works brilliantly on battery as well as mains.Negatives are: 1. The bottle stand is not heavy enough to really support the pump securely as it is heavier with batteries in and I don't think this is taken into account on design. 2. the spares are hard to come by in the UK and expensive, as places like mothercare only sell combined spares, i.e you can't get just the cone, you have to get it as an assembled unit, but even then it doesn't come with bits you would expect. 3. the plastic is solid and not rubbery, which makes it more prone to smashing / cracking if dropped which is exactly what I did and how I know parts are expensive.and hard to get.

I've yet to come across a quiet breast pump, and this was no exception. However, it was comfortable and being electric was highly effective. Its not painful and the different settings can help you get used to the pace. A very gentle setting is good to start with, but as I got used to it, I had it on the highest setting with no discomfort but lots of milk. The bottle is detachable so you can just pour it into an ice cube tray or bottle and reattach it for another go. You have to take it apart to sterilise it, and it can also be used with batteries and is therefore portable. I have seen this recommended by a lot of Mum's groups and sites, and I am happy to add my recommendation too.

I have found this pump to be very much better than any other I have used, although due to the nature of this product type, most women do not have a great deal to compare it to. The pump is a little slower than I had imagined (better on mains than batteries) and it is rather noisy. However, covering it slightly with a duvet for instance does help if you want to watch the television. I think it's possible that my baby does actually like the sound however! One small problem I have had is in taking it apart - the yellow valve needs a lot of grip and force from your thumb and index finder and in truth I have had to ask my partner to help with the sterilisation because of this.

Had previously purchased hand express pumps and no success. After purchasing this i was relieved to find i could express quickly and a lot. I was able to express 5 ounces in 10 minutes, i'd've been lucky to express that much in 10 hours using the tippee manual pump!! Yes it does have quite a loud mechanism but considering the good job it does it doesn't matter in the least, it doesn't bother my daughter who sleeps through it anyway. Easy to put together and dismantle to sterilise. I used it up to 4 times a day for half an hour at a time and the components didn't fail at all. I have now finished using it and have stored it for use for the next baby.

A lightweight transportable electric pump. Not much to it, which was what drew me to the product in the first place as something unintrusive in case I needed it. Well I did need it a fair bit, and I was left wishing I'd upgraded to the swing or pump in style, as after a few weeks it seemed clear that the little motor just doesn't have the get up and go it once did.If you're only going to be pumping occasionally and want an electric pump, then this may be the choice for you. If you're wanting to pump every day, then I'd recommend looking further up the range.
