I was offered this MAM manual breast pump in exchange for an honest review.I'd intended to breastfeed my son but in his early days in hospital I had to express for top ups which began my love-hate relationship with breast pumps. For something which is used so intimately it can be tough to find something which is comfortable, practical and efficient; sometimes you have to sacrifice one aspect in favour of another. And they mostly look like strange torture devices.I was pleased to add the new MAM manual pump to my arsenal because thus far my experiences of manual pumps hadn't been great. This one promised to be super quiet and easy to operate.I'm not sure breast pumps can really be called stylish but I do like the way this one looks. It's a nice mix of green, white and clear, with a cute little elephant picture on it too. If you're going to be displaying your pump, you want it to look the part.I was initially a little intimidated at all the parts to this pump. As I dismantled it to use for the first time I felt fairly certain my review would be over before I started since I was sure I'd never get it back together again. While it's true there are many components, I only needed to consult the instructions the once for assembly. It's a little like a jigsaw puzzle but all the bits fit together really easily. The most complicated bit is attaching the handle which requires you to put up on the 'pin' and snap the 'hinge' into place. It's really not hard. And I especially like that the silicone pumping cup is held in place by a piece that twists into place. It keeps it really secure so you don't have to hold it down or keep pouring it back into place while you pump. The funnel has a removable silicone insert for comfort, however I removed this part way through my first pumping session because I couldn't see how much milk I was producing very clearly and I was actually more comfortable without it. There is a protective lid which covers the pump funnel, but this only stays in place when the silicone insert is used, so even when I'm not using it, I need to carry out with me. This is a little bit of a design flaw as it would be handy to use it without the insert. The pump is very quiet, however part way through my first use of it, it developed an intermittent squeak in the pump mechanism. It's not all the time but it is a little annoying over time and it does mean it's less discrete than it could be. The pump mechanism is very easy on your hands. I didn't feel my hands cramping up anywhere near as much as they have with others. The pump is supplied with a MAM self-sterilising bottle. I think this is a really great concept, especially for mums who need to pump on the go or away from home. The bottom of the bottle unscrews, the lid can be used to measure the water, the teat goes inside the bottle and you can pop it in the microwave to sterilise it.The one downside to this is that the bottom of the bottle is coloured green with a silicone insert, the bottle body is textured and cloudy, and the measurements in the side don't begin until 2oz. I usually get 1oz per side in a sort session so often stop at 1oz, with this pump and bottle combo I had to keep going to 2oz so I knew what I had. The colour and texture make it hard to see what you've got. It would maybe be useful to have a plain clear bottle bundled with this pump set, just to make it easier to see what you're getting.Providing your baby takes the MAM teats and bottles, you can feed directly from the pump bottle, which is a useful feature. On the whole this is a handy, attractive and easy to use pump. I got good results from it and it had a strong but comfortable suction. It's ideal for occasional expressing and top up feeds. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Short version: great pump, easy to disassemble and assemble, easy to clean, self sterilising in microwave, not leaking, quite easy to pump. produces lot of milk, good looking, not compatible with others. You'll enjoy it and definitely you won't feel like a cow. Customer service great, spare parts available on request.Long version. This was the first pump i bought. I bought it in a hurry, without any previous research and it turned out I was lucky. Since I am from Croatia, we have very narrow choice of pumps here, avent, lansinoh and mam. Mam was on sale so it was my first choice. And it was definitely best looking among all there. I am producing REALLY lot of milk,so much that my girl can not even eat properly without draining breasts first. After two months of intensive use I can definitely say I love this product. First of all, it is easy to use and it is efficient. It produces a lot of milk which you can easily store, especially if you have other mam products. Same time, this is its con, cause it is not compatible with other companies. But, if you use this pump, you'll love it and definitely buy another mam product.Pumping is easy, not as easy as lansinoh, but you don't need to be strongman to pump it. I would say anyone can pump it easily. Breast don't hurt and it's easy to clean it. Indeed it has only 4 parts without the bootle. Bootle itself is true anti colic bottle compared with avent or tomme tippee, I am a medical doctor and definitely guarantee you that you won't have any issues regarding air in baby's tummy.Since I accidentally cooked it inside microwave, while waiting for the spare part to arrive I had to buy another pump. Meanwhile, I have to say that Mam's customer service is one of the best, they answer emails instantly, are ready to help and they will send you any spare part necessary even without cost if they decide it's not your fault. I decided to try with lansinoh as a replacement pump while waiting, even it was $10 more expensive here. Lansinoh had great reviews so it was my choice. I have to say Lansinoh is really great pump, but only thing that is better at lansinoh is pumping. It is bit easier to pump. For everything else Mam is first choice. Both pumps are equally efficient, don't hurt on your nipples and don't leak, but what makes mam better is that it is much easier to disassemble and assemble, it has fewer parts, better stability, more practical in your arms and definitely better looking. One thing worth of mentioning is that Mam has great bootles and teats compatible with this pump, which you can not mount on lansinoh.Anyway, if you are looking for a great pump with all kinds of accesories available, convenient and easy to use, and the price is not your first concern then get this one, you'll love it.If lansinoh is cheaper and you take care about the price, then get lansinoh.Regards,Ivo Dokoza, MD

As a first time mum I read several books and guidance about breastfeeding however no matter how many books I read it never prepared me for the challenges of breastfeeding. My newborn was great with latching on and receiving colostrum from me however once I was discharged from hospital and left without any support from the midwives I really struggled. My little one decided she wanted to cluster feed for over 12 hours which caused intense soreness and bleeding from my nipples. It was only when I contacted a breastfeeding specialist who advised me to express when I used this pump.I was severely sore and my milk hadn't yet come in however due to the handy nature of the manual pump I was able to decide how much let down and pumping I could do without aggravating my nipple soreness. The pump worked great and with consistent use I was able to work through the soreness and increase my milk supply.I am slightly bias towards Mam as I had seen with my nephew what a difference the bottles made with his colic and so I had already decided to purchase Mam bottles which obviously work well with the pump. My little one has taken to the bottles and can I say that she easily weans from the bottles to my boob without any difficulty. I would say that the pump is indeed a well made product that is easy to use. The cleaning and sterilising is simple and the set up to use it is easy. It's pretty handy with it being easy to take apart and putting it back together meaning that I was able to take it when I was out and about. The only negative and I suppose this is with all breast pumps is that it does get tiring after a while and it can get a few goes to get the hang of it. Bought the manual breast pump directly from Mam. Was very happy with the product initially, although it is tiring, and I got very numb hands using it, I managed to express sufficient amounts ( about 2 oz from each breast in one setting). However, this pump has lasted me only 2 months. The valve is intact and I cannot see that there is any visible breakage in the 4 parts, the suction is completely gone and the pump useless. As I managed to get it on offer (half price), I am not as annoyed as I would've been had I paid full price. I tried contacting Mam customer services via email ( the only option available) but have had no replies. Rather unfortunate as I would've rated their breastpump highly otherwise.I haven't had a chance to use any other pumps so cannot compare. However as I now need to buy a new one, I'm opting for an electric option, with a warranty.NB-had a reply from MAM after writing this entry and I may have been a bit impatient. They contacted me and sent a brand new pump and a prepaid stamp to return the faulty pump.have used new pump, much smoother and managed to get 5oz from one breast in one setting! So maybe I just was unlucky and got a faulty one first time around. Before getting the replacement however I decided to invest in an electric pump-it's alot easier on the hands and also means u can multitask. Worth the extra money, if u plan on expressing long term and or are returning to work. But this manual pump is definitely both efficient and handy for travelling with. It's a good pump to start with if u aren't sure how u will get on with breastfeeding as it's not expensive!

I was lucky to be one of the MAMbassadors given the chance to try out the new manual pump from MAM. I’m usually an electric pump user but have heard manual pumps can be more convenient and more control for expressing milk. The MAM manual pump was very modular which I like as my little one likes MAM teats/anticolic bottles already so being able to pump directly into their bottle was a plus. The option to use their storage pots or capping the bottle just by changing some parts was very handy. The pump itself worked just as good as my current medela electric one - managed to get the same amount of milk in the same time when using the pump without the silicone part.As per the info with the pump the silcone insert increases comfort but does reduce efficiency of pump. I would say comfort wise once you get the hang of manual pumping its ok but one advantage of electric ones is you can find the setting you find comfortable and express well with and dont have to worry about it after whilse manual you would have to be very aware of the amount of suction you are putting on yourself throughout so that it isnt uncomfortable but still expresses milk. After trying this I would probably recommend the MAM 2 in 1 version as it gives you the option to effectlessly change between electric and manual (I personally prefer using electric at home and having the manual for outside as less to carry). Having already tried an electric pump i was sceptical as to whether a manual pump would be worth the extra effort required to express. I was impressed on first use by the amount of milk i was able to express, the ease of use and in a short amount of time it took. The instructions included with the product are clear and detailed on how to use, clean and assemble the pump. I used it without the silicone insert (as advised in the instructions) as i had pumped before and didn't find using it in such a way to be uncomfortable. It is a quiet, comfortable, easy to handle and use product. You can conveniently pump straight into a provided anti colic bottle, which breaks down into easy to clean pieces and is very handily a self steralising bottle if you don't have a steraliser . My little one has no problems going between these bottles and boob which means my partner gets the chance to feed her. I would recommend this product to breastfeeding mothers/mothers to be. I had a good look around for a breast pump before buying one, and this appeared to be one of the best hand pumps available. Having since used it, it gives me the most amount of milk compared to Avent, Closer to nature and the mini Medela electric pump, and quickly too.The shield has 4 soft silicone areas which enable the breast to be massaged. The funnel is also not central, which allows you to reposition the pump around the breast encouraging the different milk ducts to empty. The bottom of the bottle can be taken off and the milk storage containers can be attached. The one downside that I have found is that the dial to control the strength of suction has a small silicone ring that can come offif caught wrongly when washing it (although it doesn't need washing regularly as it generally doesn't come into contact with the milk.

This product has really helped with developing a stable routine where I can breast feed or use the bottle allowing for me to be a more social mum and helps include dad in the feeding process. The silicon on the shield sits comfortable on the boob and covers a good area. It creates a good seal when positioned right (this took me many attempts) and overall has a good comfortable suction when it is on correct. The pump handle is a good size and has good leverage. I enjoy sitting and watching TV for a few minutes whilst pumping away and it is able to extract a good amount of milk in a short time frame. The pump is also easy to take apart soak and sterilise with very few pieces to split. I just loved it,even if it did make my hand tired. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I express frequently and use the mam bottles to feed my baby so was very excited to try this product. I immediately fell in love with the design. The bottle itself had a lovely little elephant pattern on it and the pump looked simple to use. The only downside I found is that the pump had lots of parts which were a pain for taking apart when cleaning and sterilising. The pump worked well and I was able to express a lot of milk very quickly and straight into a bottle which made it easier to feed straight to my baby rather than having to sterilise extra containers. I had previously used an electric pump so this was harder work however it is definitely handy for travel as can express straight into the bottle and feed.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The most important thing I think most of us look for in a breast pump (after function) is comfort and this pumo gives you that! It's so comfortable to use, there is no pulling or strain. I don't get hand ache and it doesn't yank on my nipple. I get quite a good amount fairly quickly and use this to pump one side whilst baby feeds from the other. It's super easy to assemble and to take apart and clean etc. The bottle is cute and well designed the suction is strong and the pump is great. Naturally it is ever so slightly more work than an electric pump but it less work than other manuals and doesn't require huge effort. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I had already mam uultivent bottles So I decided to order this pump and it was exellent choice. I had medela swing and avent manual pumps before and didn't like those, besides avent broke up within a month :( and was very expensive. This mam feels quality, it's easy to take apart for cleaning and feels good to use for hand and breast. Funnel is just right size and angle is good, the handle is easy and light to use. I definetly recommend this breastpump. Its the best pump I've been used and it's good that our mam bottles fits straight so I can pump straight to those and don't have to move milk from containers or bags etc.

I bought this product as it seemed the best compared to other manual pumps, plus I am usings MAM bottles, containers. The value for money is great, and cannot fault the packaging. The green colour is perfect especially if you require unisex colours, I am generally not a fan of the colour green, but this pump is actually quite attractive as far as pumps go! I have chosen the manual pump as I found prices of the electrical pump ridiculous especially as this is our first baby. Overall I am pleased with the product. Plead note I have not physically used the product as yet. Will review again, regarding its functionality.

Brought this product when breast feeding was becoming to much as we have a very hungry boy.Began pumping and freezing, was worried manual expressing would be tiresome and hard to do, but this product saved my life and my boobs! I was gifted another pump and it wasn’t quite the one, this pumps very silent to use my partner never knew I was expressing and I could use it anywhere without being to obvious. Bottle within the product was easy to store the milk until baby needed/ wanted it, loved the colour of the product and was very comfortable to use. I've always had trouble with breast pumps - e.g. they dont fit because i'm quite flat chested. This pump is the most comfortable one so far (i've tried an electric one from a competitor when i was in hospital and it either hurt or it just wouldnt fit my breast).the soft cushioned part of the pump is extremply soft and comfortable - never had that before so its a plus!the hand is ergonomically designed so pumping doesnt give you hand cramp - whichever way you hold it.easy to dissasemble and clean too! hubby is happy he can now help on feeds! This is the second manual breast pump I have used, it is great value for money and provides everything I need in a pump. The instructions make the product easy to use and provide you with a step by step guide to all aspects of assembly, sterilising, pumping and milk storage. When pumping I found the pump to be comfortable and efficient. The only reason I wouldn't give this pump 5 stars, is that it has quite a lot of parts which once disassembled, I was only just able to fit in my steriliser. Despite this, I would definitely recommend this product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
