Quite simply the best golf game ever. The first thing that strikes you about this game is the new swing method, using the analogue stick, moving this down for you backswing, and then up for the downswing and followthrough. Though this takes time getting used to, there's a full tutorial that clearly shows you how to play. From there on you'll pick up new ways to play shots and improve your technique. In starting the game, you choose your own character and their name, and from then play in tournaments, Skins matches and matchplay competitions to gain money. This unlocks money, allowing you to improve your player's attributes such as power, accuracy, putting, etc. Extra money also unlocks new courses. From the start, the TPC at Sawgrass is available (home of the Players Championship), the world famous Pebble Beach (legend Jack Nicklaus' favourite course), Royal Birkdale, Torrey Pines and Princeville. All these courses are depicted perfectly, with every bump, ridge and hollow of these courses in the game. Win more money, and open St Andrews, Scottsdale, Poppy Hills, Spyglass Hill and others. All of these courses are either used on the PGA tour, European tour or the Majors, meaning you play some of the best and most famous courses in the world. There are also a host of fictional courses, all of which are based on a theme (eg. jungle) and are very challenging. With the huge number of options, modes, courses and players available, you'll be playing this for a long time. Like the courses, you'll unlock extra players, but by beating them in the Tiger Challenge mode. A number of tour players are in here, ranging from Tiger himself, to rookie Ty Tyron and Colin Montgomerie to Charles Howell III. All players complement their real life counterparts, with Jesper Parnevik having his trademark clothes, and Jim Furyk having the loop at the top of his backswing. You can see all sponsor logos, etc on them, and even on their clubs and golf balls. This helps create a realistic and exciting environment to play in.Though this is a great game, it is a little unrealistic in places- in the tougher tournaments, you're expected to shoot amazingly low scores, which in real life are impossible at places like Pebble Beach and Sawgrass. The Tiger Challenge mode is also close to impossible to complete, though this will keep you coming back until you beat Tiger himself at the end. But if you feel like a change, you can give speed-golf a go or play target golf in the new Skills Zone. All these modes will gain you extra money to improve your player, which leads to you upgrading your clubs and equipment as well. Using you user name, you can also create your own golf course, by putting in all your favourite 18 holes from the game, choosing its name and giving it a logo. You can also save any shots to your memory card, though there is only a maximum of five. However, each time you hit a land mark, such as your first hole-in-one, you'll win a Trophy Ball, and the shot saved. You can also win these for sub-par rounds, all fairways hit, etc. This also gives you money to spend on your player. In conclusion this is not only one of my favourite sport games, but also one of my favourite games ever. Definantly the best golf game ever, and I've been playing them dating back to the Mega Drive. The realism here is rivalled by very few games in any genre, and along with the huge number of options and replay value, you'll keep coming back for more. A must have game for any golf fan who owns a PS2.

Having been a Fan of golf sims for many a year I can safely say this is the best console golf game I've ever played. The graphics are what you would expect.....SUPERB. The swing is still pull back and push forward on the analog control, but has been adjusted slightly to that of last years; It's not as easy as it was on the last few games and every ball does not fly straight down the middle, timing is a bit more important this time around. You start off with a character who's stats are all pretty low and as you enter "tiger challenges" or "play now" or any part of the game you earn money and buy stats and improve your golfer as you go.Most of your time will probably still be spent in the tiger challenge where you have five different tour card's you need to pass or earn; T I G E R.You need to beat various golfers and challenges as you go, the "play now" is pretty much the same as the last couple of games, where you have a situation that you have to pass in order to progress. The game still lacks the simulation of say links on the PC but I think this is probably as good as you can get on a console. The game has a wide range of different modes, you can play in a new skill zone, match play, skins and a host of others. All in all, great game.

If you enjoyed TW2002 then you'll love this. As TW2002 was already pretty damn fine there isn't a huge lot of improvements. It's just that the graphics seem that bit sharper, the players that bit more realistic and the sound a bit clearer. However the main reason I should imagine people will buy it is for the new courses, with the best one being the home of golf itself, the old course at St Andrews, complete with huge greens, deep deep bunkers, the famous road hole bunker on the 17th and the Valley of Sin on the 18th, excellent stuff. It's almost worth trying to land in them to see what it's like to play them. There's also some excellent other new courses (with a ficticious Highlands course being particularly good),some new players, the addition of different types of equipment you can earn (shafts, golf balls, gloves etc) and also some new 'target' games to keep you busy.If you already have and enjoy TW2002 and you want more of the same but better, then invest in this. If you don't have TW2002 and want a good golf game then it's an essential purchase.

Back in the days of the Mega Drive, I discovered EA - PGA golf when a mate got a loan of it. I thought 'Boring as!' but as soon as you start playing it, you are hooked (no pun intended). PS1 Tiger Woods revived my interest and along with my recent PS2 purchase, came a swift buy of Tiger 2003. It is unbelievably good! The new control system is so much more intuitive than the old one albeit a bit offputting at first without a power meter. You get the hang of it quickly though. The Tiger Challenges are amusing and worthwhile to unlock the extra courses/players although I'm sure there must be a cheat somewhere. Building up your stats with the money you win is almost as much fun as playing the rounds.2 minor criticisms: (a)The putting without a contour grid is a lot more realistic but without the caddy tips switched on is almost impossible to judge. (b) With the history of EA PGA Golf, there should be a lot more than 13 courses available. For example, where are the majority of the European games from the PGA Europe on Mega Drive??Overall, get it!

While Links remains the definitive simulation for golf purists, Tiger Woods is much better to just pick up and play, especially with friends. The amount of outrageous chip-ins, holes-in-one, sand saves and colossal drives show that it's a game with fun in mind, but underneath there's a very good golf game with great graphics and a host of fun features. The courses in particular are excellent, particularly Sawgrass and the Home of Golf, The Old Course at St Andrews. What the R&A would make of some of the characters in the game (including ludicrously-quiffed Samoan and immense Sumo wrestler) is quite another matter. However, there are some more recognisable players including Tiger,Monty and Jesper Parnevik and the analog swing method sets it apart from other games of the ilk that require only skilless button-bashing to do well. It's absolutely ideal for a fun romp when the weather's too bad to play outside, but it's maybe a little too easy to become good at in comparison to other sports sims.

I've had Tiger Woods 2003 for about 6 months now and still can't get enough. This game has everything; superb graphics, music and gameplay! I hadn't used the analog joystick method to swing the club before but found it to be very easy, requiring a lot less concentration than trying to stop a moving pointer in the 'green zone'. Having completed all the challenges and almost all the tournaments and scenarios my only disappointment was not having anything to spend my 'earnings' on!The appeal of this game will last for ages and I can't wait until TW 2004 comes out!

This is a very fun game to play, tredding the line between simulation and arcade well, meaning that golf purists can enjoy along with the average sports or computer game fan. The swing method is quite revolutionary, and moves away from the typically button timing method. Combine this several superb looking courses, a host of proffesional golfers and other charecters, a good season mode and many extra and you have a top golf game, appealing to pretty much everyone who will give it a try

The enhanced game graphics are simply outstanding and now you can create your own course so now your local will become playable whatever the wheather or time of day. Improvemetns on this game in include 14! new courses and extra players. 2003 is an extremely excellent improvement on 2002 and is a must for all golf maniacs.

What can I say, having never played or been interested in ever playing golf, I think this game is fantastic.Me and the wife would play 36 holes of an evening and many joypads have flown across the room during that time.If you have nothing to do of an evening I really surgest you get this game.
