I heard about this game a few years back, but never really bothered since I thought you had to be online to install it- You don`t. I`ve discovered this now since I thought it was cheap enough to take the risk. Another reason I didn`t bother was because I don`t do Online gaming any more.I have a little minor interest in Starwars and these reviews got me interested. It`s much better than I expected. It`s a first-person or 3rd-person shooter where you play the Empire (bad guys) or Rebels (good guys) fighting it out on various battlegrounds. This game has been well made with both the Online and OFF-line player in mind, unlike a lot of games of this kind which tend to focus on just multiplayer.Just about everything you can do online you can do offline against AI bots. The battlegrounds are all very good renditions of the films. You get Hoth, Naboo, and most all the others. Special mention must go to Endor, Death star map and the ship scene in the 1st Starwars movie introduction- They are very nicely done. The music is the authentic Starwars music that adds to the theme. You can play just about anyone of the different types of troops or even as the Heroes\villains. But you can only play the Heroes\Villains in 3rd person, except for Boba Fett, strangely, at least so far. There are plenty of vehicles, but again only in 3rd person- Why? Still the slow AT-AT at Hoth was very enjoyable to use though I wish I could`ve driven in 1st person. Interestingly, aircraft, spacecraft allow 1st person... Weird. The battles with the AI bots can be quite immersive and, seeing that I`m a strict soldier of the Empire joined the Storm Troopers destroying `Rebel Scum`! I got a perverse pleasure out of wiping out Ewoks on Endor. Endor is one of the best maps made and watching AT-STs walking about as I run behind them really did bring me into the movie! The AI is pretty good, but also not brilliant, sometimes seeming to forget what`s going on or running past each other in the frantic fighting (I wish they slowed things down just a tad to realistic movements). They also have the odd habit of standing right in my line of sight. They seem to follow my orders only when they feel like it, but maybe this depends on the troop-type I choose to be? They do, however, take cover and in the open-ended games take command points with their own initiative. Enemey rebel AI seems to like shooting my dead body out of anger?! Maybe cos I kept killing Ewoks. :)There is also a certain amount of gun management to each weapon. Apart from the standard blaster which is great for basic blowing away of Rebels, you have many other weapons like the `shotgun` type blaster which kills at close range, or the sniper rifle for long range, etc. The minigun blaster is excellent for wiping out tough opposition and needs no reload, but takes a precious second to power up- When you have a maddened Jedi Master leaping for your face with his twin lightsabres, that one second is one second too long!Sounds are very atmospheric with some funny quips from friends and enemy at times. The space battles are quite impressive too and I found to get the best out of it you need to connect a joystick and have all your controls set-up. Can`t be bothered? then the game thoughtfully will allow you to skip to just the ground battles. There`s an excellent, `realistic` 501st campaign about your tour with the Stormtroopers that I really enjoyed and an excellent, open-ended Offline Campaign where you or the AI try to dominate the galaxy. Very nice extra to keep Offliners going. Edit: It`s too easy and simplistic though. The Campaign AI gets cornered very quickly and beaten with a modicum of thinking. I`ve won every Campaign against it yet and that was even when I was at first rubbish in space battles and lost a few of those. The campaign`s not really made for anyone with even a little bit of strategic knowledge, unfortunately. So to conclude, Good stuff:Play as almost any trooper in first person.Play as some of the Heroes\Villains.Open-ended Offline big Campaign.Space battles.Just about all the vehicles to try.Very immersive and hectic.AI`s not bad.No Online DRM or Steam.Negaitives:Land vehicles and Heroes\Villains in 3rd person only.AI not very good at following commands.Tech Probs:Game ran very well on Win7 64 bit with Creative Extreme Music card. The only problem was sound, I was getting a lot of stutter sound, especially with the music. Noticed that EAX would not activated or allow me to use Hardware. I tried lots of things to rememdy this, but it wouldn`t work. EAX worked fine in Stalker, Call Of Pripyat, so I think the game`s the problem. Never affected actually gameplay though.Recommended for Starwars, and even mild, Starwars fans. This game`s a keeper.

Well know one would berleive me but i own this game!. I got it from america and my god is it the best. here is a little view of the game from my prospective. My last review was not as good as this one i think since last time i was on every site concerning battle front II looking at all information. But now since i own it i think i can say this.First of all, the game looks really great, the level design is so much better this time around than last year. More building, more levels and platforms, the levels just look not necessarily bigger but definitely more complex and thorough. Much better work on the levels this time, if you ask me.The action in the game similar to last year, but definitely souped up to the max! Playing the heroes, especially the Jedi, is a blast! So far I've dominated with guys like Yoda, Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, and they are a lot of fun playing with! A bit overpowering, perhaps, but not overly dominant. If you run into a Droideka, you could very well lose almost at once. The "lightsaber" meter of the heroes decreases as you get hit, but you can easily replenish it by whacking a couple of droids or stormtroopers. If you run into a troop, you can refill the entire meter if you manage to get them all. The Jedi animations are really sweet as well, nice saber animations with little twists and twirls as you finish off your opponents. Aayla Secura (or however she's spelled) had a different motion, a bit more jumping and slashing if you will, and Yoda was his usual "all over the place" in his action. You have to earn the heroes of so you need to get gameing for a couple of hours, and although you can set it how you want them to be earned, in Instant Action they're pretty easy to get hold of. Another thing with the Jedi: they jump like MAD! You have a "run meter" this time (if you've played Battlefield 2, you know what it is), that decreases when you run (tap two times forward), and this meter also applies to the Jedi "jump". If the meter is full, you can jump like five times in a row, which means you will get SUPER high in the air! You can also run a lot faster as a Jedi, and jump through entire levels almost. What else? Oh, the levels! I tried the Jedi Temple, which was really cool and darkened down. It's the Jedi Temple after the Jedi Purge I should say, with pillars knocked over and just a somber mood. The Episode III music is awesome with this level, gives it a ton of atmosphere and it's really intense. I played as Mace Windu on this level as well, really cool, especially when the Jedi say little stuff like "May the force be with you" every once in a while.Played Felucia as well, really nice level, mostly green of course. Very jungle-like, with the transluscent plants and weird rootlike shapes and all. Great level, very open and.. nice.Mygeeto was really cool, one of my favorite levels definitely. A lot like Kamino, but with less platforms and more cityscapes and building and stuff. Very open as well, and really cool with the ash falling all over the place. Makes a difference from the rain of Kamino.Kashyyyk was an intense map, with lots a more "real" war feel to it. Opposing beaches and the forces meeting on the beach and everything, really nice and a lot more intense than BF1's Kashyyyk level. A lot more treebound platforms as well, should be excellent for sniping I would assume. Kashyyyk is a lot darker than last year as well, a lot more clouds which gives it a better mood. Also, a main part of the level is the massive tree walls and base that can be seen in the movie.Utapau! Excellent map! Lots of nooks and crannies, lots of platforms and the wonderful Episode III walkers (forgot what they're called). Played as Grievous on this level, and he is REALLY deadly with his four sabers, let me tell you! You fight with two more or less until the killing blow, when he whirls around all four of them!Last map I tried was Mustafar, which was a really exciting level as well, a bit confusing at times though. A lot of walkways suspended above the lava, and sometimes you can stumble across rooms who are completely filled with lava and no walkways, so you'll have to find another route around these rooms. Mustafar's a big level, and the massive "antenna" things that Anakin and Obi-Wan duel on are there as well. Really nice to see features from the movies in the game.Well, anyway, the game is really awesome and the action is a lot more intense than last time. As George Lucas himself put it: "Faster! More intense!" It works for this game as well. I will try some more levels in a lil' while, like the Death Star, Polis Massa and the Tantive IV. Maybe some more space action as well.

This took my breath away, literally. It is the BEST star wars game ever, let alone one of the greatest pc games for its time. And, yes i do know that i'm reviewing this game over 4 years after this release. I've been playing it at friends houses for a couple of years now, but never actually bought it because i only played multiplayer with my friends and never tried out the actual game. Let me tell you now, I wasn't dissapointed at all.One of the problems i had buying this game now though, is because its now over 4 years old and needs a serial code to install, and if you don't get it new (which is hard to find these days) then your could be losing lots of money. So i can't stress this enough, don't buy this game from ebay. Most likely, it won't have the code and you will never be able to install it if you don't have, or get the code. (this is also why lots of people have rated this game 1 or 2 stars, because of this, the drm, and the dodgy installing process on some computers.)But don't be put off. As i said earlier i had never played the game in single-player mode until i bought the game (new), and so was a bit tense on how good that would be, and, as you know, i wasn't dissapointed. Its great! The storyline is long, fun and the little cutscenes breath life all the way through it, and yes it does have a decent storyline, unlike a few 1st-person shooters. The gameplay is addictive and instead of having to keep switching weapons and staying as the same boring character all the time, each trooper or droid has different weapons so you can play as the one you want to be, and if you get tired of that particular character with that particular gun, then when you die, respawn as a different character! The graphics are awesome, and were the best of the best back in end of 2004, and still look good today. The colours are vibrant, and are well chosen for that area, unlike CoD or House of the Dead, where most of the area are dark and gloomy. It's easy to see where you are going and you get the option to change camera view so you can see your whole character or be like his eyes and only see the gun in his hand.Overall the single player is great and will keep you playing for days on end, and i haven't even got to the multiplayer yet! (yes, there's more!)I'll be brief with this bit, firstly, the best part is that when you want to play online, you don't have to install anything, (so you don't have to install x-fire or gamespy arcade that come up in the installation process.) and you can just click on a session thats not locked and play in it and see how well you fare with people all around the world. Secondly, yes, you can also play on LAN, although this isn't really the best option.Lastly, there's is practically no waiting time to join a session, so you don't have to wait all day to get into a session, unlike other online shooters, great!Fine, the game has a few niggles, but really, you won't even notice them unless your looking really carefully, and unless your a strict gamer, your not really going to be doing that. So, the summary.Graphics: 9/10 (probably 10/10 back in 2004!)Gameplay: 9/10Storyline: 7/10 (it's a shooter, what do you expect?!)Overall: 9/10.A great game for anyone who loves shooters, star wars fans and shooter fans alike. I urge you to get this game, you won't be dissapointed!

INTRODUCTION:In 2004, Star Wars Battlefront was released. Although not wildly popular at its time of release, the game gradually won many gamers over with its awesome gameplay. The deathmatch-style gaming in a galaxy far, far away ended up becoming the best-selling Star Wars game of all time! Still, while it was one of the best Star Wars games ever, it did lack in a few areas, and it left fans yearning for a sequel. One finally arrived in the Fall of 2005! Is it an improvement? Read on for my review of Star Wars Battlefront II.REVIEW:I had high expectations for this game, being that the first Battlefront was one of my all-time favorite Star Wars gaming experiences. The sequel takes this already-excellent formula, and makes it even better in a number of ways! Let's see how it fares.-THE GAMEPLAY THAT MADE THE ORIGINAL BATTLEFRONT SUCH A GREAT GAME MAKES A COMEBACK HERE. The original game was a Star Wars fan favorite, and I'm not at all surprised that the basic gameplay concepts, for the most part, remain unchanged in most modes of play.-THE STORY MODE HAS GOTTEN A REVAMP. Rather than just generic battles aroun the galaxy, it has become mission and objective-oriented. The alteration makes for a refreshing change of pace from the standard battle games.-TONS OF NEW LOCATIONS TO TAKE THE FIGHT TO. The locales you'll explore in this game have greatly been expanded. Now, you can fight in a great deal more places than the first game. Episode III worlds like Utapau and Mustafar are now playable, as well as other classic Star Wars scenes like Dagobah and the interior of the Death Star.-SPACE COMBAT! This is the thing the game is getting a lot of hype for. You can now do your battles in space! The sheer amount of options in such a battle makes these some of the funnest things the game offers. You can fly a starfighter and attack enemy ships from the outside, or land in their docks and cause destruction from the inside out (and maybe even steal an enemy fighter!) This is definitely one of the game's best features.-JEDI/SITH CHARACTERS NOW PLAYABLE. Such characters were just "extras" on the battle scenes of the first Battlefront, but now they are playable! In your battles, sometimes you'll get an option to play as one if you fulfill certain objectives. Now a whole cast of them is available for play, and it definitely makes your fights more interesting.-LOTS OF OTHER NEW STUFF. For instance, in some battles, you can earn points by killing foes, and my killing them and getting these points you can choose from other character classes that weren't available at the beginning of the battle. There are also tons of new vehicles, including many that premiered in Episode III.-GRAPHICS ARE BETTER THAN EVER! If you thought the first Battlefront had great graphics, you haven't seen anything yet. This is about as good as a game of this type could possible look.Overall, the sequel to the best-selling Star Wars game of all time is even better than its awesome-in-its-own-right predecessor. If you liked the first Battlefront, you're bound to like the second one even better. I give it my highest possible recommendation if you're a fan of Star Wars. Pick this one up. It may be a little hard to learn if you're new to this sort of thing, but ultimately, you should agree that this game rocks.

Unlike Battlefront 1, this sequel's major selling point is that it allows you to experience warfare in the completely new environment of space. Command posts are not used in these space battles, but instead you play until a certain amount of points is reached. Points are earned in several ways and are distributed according to the method you have earned them. For example, although killing a foe provides you with just one point, destroying one of the enemy capital ship's vital systems earns you 20 or more points. These vital systems can be disabled on both the outside and the inside of the ship and include its engines, sensory relays, life support systems and the command bridge. During space combat, you spawn in your capital ship's hanger where a variety of different spacecraft are stationary and awaiting a pilot. This game offers slow, powerful bombers like the Y-Wing and Tie Bomber, fighters (good all-rounders) like the X-Wing and Arc Fighter, and small speedy interceptor craft such as the Droid Tri-Fighter and A-Wing.During space combat, you can choose to either dogfight in space or you can infiltrate your enemy capital ship's hanger and plant devastating time-bomb explosives to blow apart the vital systems inside. Either way the space battles are a nice new addition to the game. There are still many land battles to be fought however, and this game introduces several new land maps as well as keeping some of the classics from the first (such as Hoth, Mos Eisley and Kamino). These include the hazardous Jabba's Palace, with armies clashing in the gloomy corridors and even in Jabba's expansive court- some falling prey to the rancor lurking below. The murky Dagobah map is also a new addition, featuring Yoda's hut and a familiar X-Wing half-submersed in the swamp. The Jedi Temple on Coruscant is added, as well as a fiery Mustafar map from the latest film. The Death Star is also a welcome new addition, with violence ensuing down its clean corridors, hangers and even the prison facility as seen in Star Wars IV A New Hope. These however, are just some of the new maps and others include Utapau, Mygeeto, Polis Massa, Leia's Blockade Runner and a few more. Also a new feature is the ability to play as your faction's heroes. To be able to access this, you must first reach an amount of points during a game. Like with space battles, these points are given due to certain actions performed (killing foes, capturing enemy's command posts, etc). Hero units include Chewbacca, Han Solo, Yoda, Leia and Luke Skywalker if you are playing as the Rebel Alliance. The Empire has the deadly Boba Fett, Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. Yoda, Mace Windu, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ki-Adi-Mundi and Aayla Secura are the Republic's heroes. And finally, Confederacy heroes are Count Dooku, Jango Fett, Darth Maul, Sidious and General Grievous.Overall, this game has many improvements over the last. The space combat, the new maps, the ability to play as heroes and the upgraded Galactic Conquest system are all examples of improvements within Battlefront 2. I feel that this game does its excellent prequel justice.

With checkpoints, I would of given Star Wars Battlefront II a 10/10. But I'm cursed with a very impatient nature and when a game makes me repeat stuff too much, I dunno I just cant hack it. So, basically I gave up on this game halfway through and its such a shame cos its such a great game apart from the frustration aspect. The levels are explosive, exciting and full of various different objectives eg, defend and area, carry something somewhere, kill some jedi, kill some massive monsters (which are really fun to gun down), become a jedi and massacre some battle droids etc etc etc. and thats just the land missions, you also get space battles, which are great fun.Its full of different objectives and this really keeps the action very interesting and at its core level its really such a great game. BUT, I would like to ask the developers this one thing - have you ever heard of a checkpoint? No? BLIMMIN IDIOTS!!! When I complete a really hard objective and I'm then faced with another even harder objective, and then fail, I dont want to have to go all the way back to the beggining and spend ages trying to get the first one right again just so I can do the even harder one, only to fail again and have to go all the way back to the beginning and spend ages.....see what I mean? Really the developers just made certain levels annoying to play, I mean why on earth didnt they stick in some checkpoints? Minus the frustration of the save system this game could have been truly amazing, but the gameplay is severely hampered by the annoying constant repeating of the various mission objectives, and I got so sick of the cycle that I gave up. So my verdict is a generous 8/10, and thats very generous and its only cos the game is so inventive and fun. (I really should give it 5/10 cos come on basically, where are the checkpoints? It really drags the game down) But other people might just have the patience for it, I dont know see for yourself, its well worth giving it a shot just for the experience of it, cos I cant stress enough it really is a fantastic game, especially if your a major star wars fan like me.The game uses a lock on system for its shooting, dont worry its not a rubbishy "hold down the L1 button and fire" job that takes all the fun out of it, its a sort of loose thing where you have to aim at the target and then if the target moves, you move with it. I dont actually even like that system to be honest, I like to do all my own aiming, but you cant have everything and it doesnt matter all that much. Its actually pretty fun to use, even if I'd rather it wasnt there. The game, apart from the story mode, has a strategy mode where you take over the galaxy using strategy. This is pretty easy and quite repetitive so I didnt stay on there for long but some people into RPG's might like the idea of building up your army but I couldnt be bothered with it.The game also has instant action modes. All in all, an impressive package, if only the story mode had checkpoints.

I bought this expecting a lot and at first I was disappointed, finding it hard to control troops and getting killed too often. But once I got the hang of it I found myself hooked (tip - refine your skills over and over on a training mission). You can play various game types but Galactic Conquest for me is the very best. You fight a long campaign buying bonuses and various types of troops to battle for control of all the planets. Moving your fleets across the map you either engage enemy fleets above planets or attempt to conquer or defend planets.I found the space battles a little odd at first but you work your way to 180 points to win the battle by completing objectives such as destroying the enemies engines and command bridge. You can also land on the enemy ship but I have yet to fully explore this. Some of the ground battlefields are a little too open, others perhaps too vast making it difficult to be involved at times as you run across ground trying to find the battle. If I have one criticism this game can be a little too quick, with only 150 reserves on either side you can find the battle over before you can apply any real strategies. On the flipside once you've been killed you can continue the battle so even if you aren't very good you're not out of it too quickly. Victory though can be completed without you feeling you've played much of a part. It can also mean a great amount of the wonderful battlefields themselves can go unexplored as the battle is long over before you've covered every inch of ground. The bonuses are perhaps the most tactical part of the whole thing. You can choose a leader which can be a jedi wielding their light sabre, bcta tanks to continually replenish your side's lifeforce or garrison bonus to add a few reserves if your's drop too low. Maybe a little extra thought could have gone in as some of these seem less useful than others as indeed do some leaders. Han Solo for instance with his blaster is nowhere near as effective as Yoda and his light sabre. Vehicles can also play too much of a part, on Yashyyyk (Wookie home planet) the battlefield is too open and the enemy can use vehicle firepower to overwhelm your forces. The only defence I have found effective is the sabotage bonus to damage the vehicles making them easier to destroy. All in all this is a fantastic game I recommend to anyone, it is very time consuming to complete but highly addictive. You can play Galactic Conquest as the Rebel Alliance, Empire, Trade Federation or the Republic so there are plenty of variations giving this game plenty of life once you've completed it for the first time.

Now i know that the game has been out for some time but i'm a bit new to reviews so i'll get started.Star wars Battlefront II is a Brilliant game. When i first got it for my birthday I was overjoyed ,On the Internet it Looked a great game and it was.Having already played Battlefront1 I knew the controls pretty well. But my God even the training blew me away. There was even more explosions and Action than an American cop drama. The grapics are a great improvement too I noteced this on Battlefront1 compared to B2.Battlefront2 is much more detailed. The option of more troops is a real step too, the chance to be a clone commander and just cut down droid after droid after droid with your chaingun(yes, you heard me right a chaingun). One off the same Problems was you couldn't be the Droids and fight the rebels(this being an example) and that just begs the queston "what if"(There's only one or two missions where you can do this). You also get the impresson that they didn't put that much work into the soldiers that fight beside you. When you're doing the story missions most of the pressure is on you and the screen inbetween story missions and Battles it keeps on going about your team, what team?! well yeah you can pluck guys from the battle and they'll follow you and shoot enemy's but it's just so limited on B1 you could do much more. It's just like asking Lamborgini to make a replica of a ford escort. So the lifeline of a soldier is:spawn follow, shoot, die and it just goes around like this also there intelligence looks pretty poor and is ,they only use there first weapon, now i know you're supposed to take some guys down with you but if they can make the frendly AI just a bit better then it would be perfect.Later on you start to wish that they hadn't taken away some of the stamina things(for exemple lying)and the flying craft. You could have real fun flying around in an X-wing blowing the bejesus out of an AT-ST or taking out some heavy troop concentrations whilst trying to avoid rockets and gun fire.I also think that the idea of space battles is pretty cool but yet again they could have made it better ,more acton, more Capital ships....All in all Star Wars Battlefront2 is a brilliant game with a pretty good story line some nicly done graphics and some real fun for you and your friends. But it's also an example that to make the perfect sequel you need new and old and I think that this has to much new.

Having not played many Star Wars games on any platform, I was very curious as to whether or not to purchase this. Having now played it extensively over the last 3 weeks, I can say that I am truly glad that I did make the purchase. As I have not played this game on any other platform I cannot compare its features to them, but only comment on its playability, features etc of this version. Firstly the graphics, for the PSP the graphics are not in pristine condition, at times the graphics are slightly pixelated/square but dont be fooled, this does not spoil gameplay! Before I start on about the gameplay, I have to tell you about the features, the amount of vehicles that are playable in the game,is huge! Fight in space with TIE Fighters, X-Wing Fighters or even a Transport Carrier! Ground vehicles include AT-AT's, Speeders and even mount cannons and turrets! You will not be dissappointed in the amount of vehicles that the player can drive, fly, and ride. If vehicles arent your thing, then the amount of characters that you can play as is once again, vast. Play as Stormtroopers, Clone Commanders, Jedi's, Rebel Soldiers, Han Solo and even the almighty Yoda! (Who doesnt dissappoint) Weapons include lightsabers, rocket launchers, pistols, blasters and pulse/force guns. The gameplay is outstanding, if you like FPS and dogfighting in space then this is the game for you. What else can be said about this? Well the Galactic Conquest in Single Player mode will keep you entertained for hours, as you hop about over space, dogfighting an enemy fleet, or battling it out on the ground for control of a planet. There are our Galatic Counquests that you can embark on, Birth of the Rebellion, The Confederate Uprising, Republic Sovereignty and Dark Reign of the Empire. If that doesnt appeal to you then there are challenges for the player to take on, as a Rebel Raider, Imperial Enforcer or a Rogue Assasin. Or just jump straight into the action and let rip! As of yet I havent had chance to try out the MultiPlayer feature as I am unaware of anyone with a PSP and a copy of Star Wars Battlefront 2, so cannot comment on this feature.Overall, an extremely enjoyable and playable PSP game that has kept me entertained for hours into the early hours of the morning. If you're a Star Wars, FPS and dogfighting in StarFighters fan then this game is an absolute must! Add it to your PSP collection today!

I've been resigned for some time toward never having a team game on a console on any sort of scale. I assumed either Xbox live didn't tolerate larger numbers of players or they thought the console demographic only wanted deathmatch, small scale combat. This game is therefore a pleasant surprise. Supporting a full 32 players in a game at once, both online or off with the use of bots. Maps are sizeable and varied, and the space maps are a completely new experience - play with friends and you can have some attack a vessel from the outside in bombers while the others take a gunship onboard and storm the bridge to wreak havoc. The AI bots are competent, in fact on the harder setting, challenging. One could spawn into a game and simply observe them play it out themselves, taking command points, defending, and piloting vehicles. The achievement system gives something tangible to work toward in the form of gameplay bonuses - earn enough medals and you can even unlock them permanently to cut a swathe through the opposition. The new galactic conquest gametype is a fun campaign, especially to play through with friends - either against, or with. The Hunt gametype is a little bloodthirsty - all those poor little jawas and ewoks. The graphics are passable, immersive, perhaps unspectacular in this era of new generation consoles. Considering it is a necessary tradeoff for having so many players and such large maps, they are still very good.My issue with the game is that as usual, the Live experience suffers. Not only are there few games with larger numbers of players (rather, many with smaller numbers), but when you do find one, they are quite laggy, people will warp around the map and you will die seemingly randomly. Smaller games of course are fine. I still give it a five because Live lag is subjective and it may just be me, and besides which I find playing with the bots and friends perfectly enjoyable.

Despite its age, this really is still an enjoyable game. I got the old PS2 out a few days ago when some friends came over and Battlefront II was the first game I thought of playing. While some people may be put off by thinking this is a 'Star Wars Nerd' game, it really isn't. It's basically a team-based Third Person Shooter, with a few Star Wars elements. The game's campaign mode is pretty good and takes a while to complete, but where this game really shines is multiplayer with friends offline or online.Battlefront II boasts a variety of different maps, from the Ice World of Hoth (creating an experience to drive the huge AT ATs!) to the forest planet of Endor. You can pick from 6 types of soldier in each faction: Rifle,Rocket, Sniper, Commander (Machine Gunner), Engineer, or Jet Trooper/Wookie/Dark Trooper/Droideka. This creates a wide variety of options for play styles as not only do the units have different weapons but also different Secondary weapons, Grenades and additional weapons. In normal matches each team starts with a certain number of 'reinforcements' and 16 soldiers on the map. Whenever one of these dies he is replaced by a reinforcement. However, the amount of enemy reinforcements can be reduced by capturing and holding specific command points, with the more you hold the faster the enemies reinforcements go down. This makes for a large varied environment with battles raging throughout the map all the time. The inclusion of vehicles and Space battles also add to the game's unique feel, with each faction starting with different vehicles, with albeit similar attributes. Space Battles also add a huge amount to the game, from dogfights round a huge enemy space ship to boarding and taking out their engines under enemy fire.To conclude, I really would name this as one of the most fun to play shooters on the PS2. Highly recommended.

Finally, the long awaited sequel to the "best STAR WARS game ever" when i first heard that there was going to be a Star Wars Balltefront 2, i was delighted!Having played the game for about a month and a half now, i can say that SWB2 has kept it's position on the top of the interactive Star Wars hill. It has taken the things that made SWB1 great and sucessfully converted then over to SWB2. The gameplay is still as normal, an easy to play shoot em' up that involes taking sides with your favourite faction from both eras of the Star Wars saga and annilatethe enemy team. Althought, there are a variety if new improvements that has made this game better than the last.Firstly, its all good and well being able to hop into any vehicle ore turret that you find on the battlefield, but this game boasts an even wider arrangment of vehicles and turrets. They have still kept the GREAT vehicles out of SWB1 like the AT-AT and the Snowspeeder, but they have included some even bigger and better vehicles like the Rebel Allience ARC 147 and the Yavin power turret. Having seen the review writen by Lukeeeen, i agree with some of the flaws in this game. One of the most obvious ones is the floor in constantly moving for some reason, not only is that annoying, but it sort of "takes" you out of the realisticness of the game. Also, the new edition "Space Battles" have a problem. It really pisses you off! Not only do you get shot down by something as soon as you take off, but if you are lucky enough to get into a dogfight, it feels slugish and "Un Star Wars ish." And the way that troops just spawn in out of nowhere looks a little silly as well.BUT, don't let yourself be put off by this, this is a great game and it has earned it's rightfull and deserved place on the Cristmas and Birthday lists of children all over the United kingdom. Very satifieing indeed!

Firstly about the purchase. Extremely good value especially as the game was in such good condition, struggled to find scratches at all. It also arrived a day earlier than the expected date which is always nice.As far as the game, this an amazing game. There are 3 different modes, all of which can be played in either solo or split screen. The historical campaign lets you play through both the clone wars, letting you fight as both the CSI droids on large maps such as the open war zone on Naboo. Then you will play as the clone troopers on planets from attack of the clones as well as an original planet and even the homeworld of the Wookies. Then you play through the galactic civil war starting as the stormtroopers on Tatooine. Then finally you play as the Rebels on planets like Yavin 4, Hoth which includes a huge ATAT walker assault. You then fight on Bespin in both the city and platforms high in the sky, and finally crush the empire on the Ework homeplanet Endor. In galactic conquest, you choose either the Clone troopers, the droids, the rebels or the stormtroopers and attack planet by planet, slowly taking total control of the galaxy. You gain perks for every planet you beat such as extra reinforcements, or even to have a jedi or sith character fight with you on the battlefront. In instant action you create a playlist of planets you want to play, most of which you can choose between either to fight in a Clone Wars or the Galactic Civil War setting. At the start of each map you will choose which side you want to fight for. What's great about this mode is it lets you explore all the world's more, almost every planet has two maps. The exclusions between geonosis, kamino, Hoth and endor. Understandably as in the films they had mostly one area seen for war.Read full review...

Upon seeing reviews, vid clips, screenshots, etc., I decided to purchase this game, and I wasn’t disappointed at all.Don’t be fooled into believing Battlefront 2 is more suited towards multiplayer. Not only is there a large campaign mode, which follows a group of Clone Troopers all the way from the end of the Clone Wars up until Empire Strikes Back, but there’s also a strategic Conquer the Galaxy mode. In this mode, you choose which ever side you want: The Separatists, The Republic, The Empire or The Rebels, and move from planet to planet, invading and defending various territory. And although the core of the game is first/third person shooter ground missions, there are also plenty of intense space battles along the way.And what happens when you complete all that? You still have plenty of mission points to gain for your player profile, which unlock special weapons and bonuses that you can use in battles. To be honest, there’s not much I can find wrong with it. With the above modes it’s a decent length, the graphics aren’t bad, all the memorable characters and vehicles are there, the ground battles are very entertaining and the space battles are spectacular…well, aside from having to bomb an enemy command ship’s critical systems over and over to win most space battles, which can get a little tedious after a while. But even if you get bored of that, just fly into their hangar, run around their ship and bring them down from the inside.Basically, this is a very well designed, entertaining game, whether you are a Star Wars fan or not. Not only is it huge, the bug testing, apart from a few minor things, must been pretty much spot on (which is a rarity these days).

star wars battlefront 2 is a great game and even though the controls aren't the best the retro controll system is 1 of the best fps control systems on any game. i can easily aim and kill without having to use lock on and the retro controls, after getting used to them, don't feel at all awkward. the graphics on this game are pretty good although not as good as monster hunter freedom 2 or ff crisis core. i cant realy say much to the music beacuse i dont usualy play psp games with the music on (wastes too much battery). gameplay is kinda repetetive and the missions they included are missing the unique and must have missions like geonosis and the death star and the game is also missing a real story mode and the 3 challenges r p*** easy and quite boring, there is a mod on this game which does improve the game alot and adds a few extra maps like geonosis but sadly this mod is very hard to find and after loosing my memory stick i haven't been able to find it again, also i dont realy like the space battle missions although i dont realy have difficulty with the aiming and hitting of other people, i do however realy like the hunt missions and some of these add a new flavour to the game eg. hoth hunt and i also find the naboo hunt funny bcoz of the grenade frenzy. the jedi assault is also very interesting and is a welcome change to the games normal modes of shooting other thing with no real melee unless u play with a hero.overall this is 1 of the better game for the psp but if u are looking for an online shooter renegade squadron would be the better choice since this game is lacking online mode which sucks.
