So Pleased This Came Up To Try & Delivered On my Birthday right at the very end of March.. Thanks to Amazon! Duly 'Cracked Open' only for review purposes for you all, you understand ?✅ My Favourite Whiskey is Irish.. Tried Many. And This One is a Big Hit with me, it has Everything I Want & Expect in an Irish Whiskey.. Of Course this also is down to your Own Personal taste & preferences, which may differ to mine. Made by the West Cork Distillery in Collaboration with the Band.. I Love the Pogues too!✅ But I Can tell you, this Pogues Blended Malt & Grain Irish Whiskey Hit the Sweet Spot for me. It Has a Wonderfully Heady Aroma, that as soon as you pull the stopper, just makes you want to keep on Inhaling the sweet smelling burnt toffee & malty mellowness.. I used to make my own coffee liqueur with espresso, brandy & demerara sugar.. Almost a hint of that amongst it all! This Has Proper Flavour & Taste.. In your Face like a Raucous Upbeat Song form Shane & the Band.✅ The Other thing i Love about this Pogues.. It also has a bit of an 'Edge', 'Kick' or a little 'Fire'.. What I don't like is 'Wishy Washy' Irish whiskies. When i say that.. i do not mean the Pogues is 'Harsh' in any way.. Its very, very drinkable straight, without Ice at room temp.. quite smooth, mellow & flavoursome.. but with the Edge! Nice Amber Hue to this Nectar of Life❗ Its Like this really, I am not over fussed on Jameson's, almost like its been 'Watered' down, not much flavour or Depth.. It's Ok & Easy drinking. I like 'Regular Bushmills', more than Black, & Paddy's is Ok too.. This falls somewhere between them two, but far, far closer to the Bushmills.. So i Think Personally, If you Like your Bushmills.. I'm Confident you'll Love This Pogues too.. distinct flavour of its own, but in the similar vein & mould as mentioned.Would I Buy this Myself & Again.. You Bet I Would! TBH.. probably over the Bushmills, hope they make 1L bottles available! Also have tried the Red Single Malt Pogues.. Very nice too, but actually slight preference for this one.. (Just Sampled both now!) ⭐⭐?⭐⭐ Try It.. It's an Irish Legend in the Making!

My wife and I are big fans of whiskey, in particular Irish whiskey, so when this was made available for review I jumped at the chance, we always enjoy trying out new drinks. This bottle is a standard sized 70 Cl bottle, a fairly simple design and standard bottle type. We had the black bottle which is the triple distilled Irish whiskey and is priced at £22.90 at the time of writing this review, there is also a red bottle which is a single malt and is priced at £19. Pretty reasonable pricing I think. It has been made in a copper pot still like a lot of Irish whiskey is as this is the traditional way that whiskey is made, it is then aged in double charred bourbon casks to give it its colour and flavour, personally I’m not a huge fan of bourbon as I find it can give quite harsh flavours when compared to other whiskey styles and I think this bourbon flavour does carry through somewhat into this as it does have a slightly rough harshness to it, not all bad though as after it has been aged in the bourbon casks it is moved over into ex sherry casks which help to smooth out the roughness and add some spice and fruit notes with a hint of nuttiness.I enjoyed this pogues whiskey neat without adding and ice or mixers and it went down a treat, whereas my wife found it a little too harsh for her taste and chose to mix it with cola for best enjoyment.Overall quite happy with this whiskey, its far from being one of the better Irish whiskeys we have drank, but at the price point it offers good value for money and I would happily buy some again if I saw it on offer in the shops.

...which probably tells you all you need to know to decide if you're going to like this. You can tell it's a West Cork offering, the profile is quite distinctive, fairly 'obvious' spirit (these things are relative -it's not raw, and it's still relatively smooth) with a mild hit of spice, some malt, not much sign of the chocolate claimed, a bit more in the way of toasted hazelnut. Perhaps a touch of salt. It's not a complex whiskey, nor is it meant to be, but as a relatively inexpensive type, it's fine, and ideal for use as a base in a cocktail (the Old Fashioned mentioned is reasonable). It's also OK with ice -not something I'd normally try or do,but worth investigating with cheaper whiskeys since this is how many do prefer these products. Since it has a bit more bite than the juggernauts that are Jameson's, Tullamore D.E.W or Bushmills, and has the Pogues branding connection, it will likely find a niche. The slightly squat, relatively weighty bottle is OK, and it does have a cork rather than a screw top, which is nice to have.Generally speaking then -it's not bad. There are (much) better whiskeys available, but as an alternative to the usual run of cheaper offerings, it's worth a look.

I actually bought a bottle of this for my brother’s birthday, but have since tasted it. This isn’t a shallow cash in but a very good whiskey, especially at £30 for a 70 cl bottle!Of course it’s an Irish whiskey made by West Cork Distillers, so triple distilled and smooth. But this has a distinct sweet taste; it’s like drinking a cake with a strong almond/marzipan taste. Of course, if you don’t like sweet, smooth whiskey’s then this isn’t going to be for you. If you’ve not drank whiskey before, then this is nice one to try for the first time. I didn’t find that sharp alcohol hit as you do with others at all (aside from your very first sip, expected with any spirit).Well worth one to have in the “press”,especially for after dinner letting your food go down. I found it works great after Thai food where you need something sweet after.

The Pogues were an English or Anglo-Irish Celtic punk band. On the day this Irish Pogues whiskey arrives, I play their music while trying the whiskey out. This actually gives a double effect on overall atmosphere, you may try it out too. The whiskey arrived wrapped carefully with air sac and thick cartoon box designed for wine therefore it arrived in good state. Once you open it up you can smell a great aroma which makes you want to taste it immediately. The colour of the whiskey is clear golden brown and looks great in my crystal whiskey glass. It’s triple distill so you can imagine how smooth when it goes into your mouth but warmth down the tunnel to your stomach. You can taste the malt and barly with a hint of sweet smoky toffee. I enjoy it plain and over ice.

I bought this as part of a 50th present for a friend.Out of the 8 people who drank it all enjoyed it. There was lots of appreciative nodding going on and the whole bottle was drunk in a few hours!Lots of connoisseur words like : “smooth on the pallet; easy to drink; interesting flavour, well balanced” were exchanged! However, although I am not a whisky drinker, I thought it had a great initial taste then a rough aftertaste. However, I think this about all Whisky and whiskey! The friend has bought several bottles since and it is now a firm favourite! The only downside is it caused one friend to fall of his chair and into some nettles! Please drink responsibly!LolGreat present for someone who likes Irish Whiskey or indeed the band The Pogues!

The bottle arrived packaged in a protective AirSac, but had no box. Unfortunately, this meant that when trying to pull it out of the tight packaging by twisting the neck of the bottle, I accidentally broke the thin plastic covering the stopper. The neck has no wax weal, so the bottle began to leak. This would be annoying if this were sent as a gift directly to a friend or family member, or if it was something you did not want to open immediately. The whiskey itself is smooth and rich, with a sweet and buttery first flavour. The final flavour profile is lightly smoky, with an almost spicy finish. This is an easy whiskey to drink, rounded and flavourful, and not overpoweringly peaty.Just be careful when opening it.

This triple distilled irish blend whiskey, in jet black bottle. Looking at the bottle, it was shouting quality. The bottle I received is say Irish Whiskey, Triple distilled and matures in Ireland (not like on the first photo, more the one on the rest of the photos, but the irish flag been added in the front as well, between the % and ml informations. Obviously they have re-worked the design.About the taste…It has a quite harsh smell once opening. When was in the glass it smelled more aromatic. Light in colour. I couldn’t taste the chocolate or the nuts note, but slightly the honey and a bit of sweetness to it.Tried it as a hot toddy as well and it works brilliantly on the cold nights and rainy nights.

This whiskey is undoubtedly excellent value. It's a whiskey made by West Cork, and at the price point of 20-25, it's superb value. It has very clear and characteristic irish notes, that smooth and sweet pot stilled goodness. The fact it's a Pogues whiskey does nothing for me, but the taste left me somewhat surprised The nose and pallet were surprisingly floral, but with that lovely sweet shortbread taste following. Some spice at the front but nothing pronounced.Excellent value, dont be put off by the somewhat gimmicky branding of being pogues whiskey, this is a great drink that I would go back to, or put into a decanter for guests.

I was keen to try this Irish whiskey, upon testing it neat I found it pretty smooth nice and light with a taste of toffee apples. The aftertaste is pretty sweet and stays with you for a bit with a hint of cinnamon. These are not my personal favourite combinations so I now drink this with a mixer which is a lot more pleasant for me. At the price it is affordable enough to mix with mixers without feeling like it is a waste. This is an award winning whiskey so this should also give you some confidence to give it a try!Overall it certainly does the job and I would be keen to try the single malt version next.

Well after some tasting I started to see more than 5 stars, but that’s maximum I can put here.I got it because of the name – if it taste same as The Pogues sounds then it’s a winner. After tasting love them both. Amazing whiskey and amazing band.Taste is smooth, pleasant and does not burn your throat. I never been able to describe pallet of tastes like experts. I’m more three grade person: love it, it will do or hate it. So this one I love and it will be more often visiting our home from now.One thing I was missing. Instructions. How many bottles to consume to look like Shane MacGowan?

I was surprised when I went into a bar a cpl years ago and felt it funny that there was a pogues whisky....but it was lovely and I was surprised. you sometimes think it is a gimmick when celebs endorse whisky...look at David Beckham...he has not got a clue!!but shame MacGowan....yahoo!!,loved that original whisky..assume it was the blended black....was so good. fuzzy night.but this week it popped into my mind and so searched pogues whisky....single malt popped up.I was unsure....but ordered.best decision....it is fantastic! Will maybe order the black too!

I do love Irish whiskey and this is no exception.I do prefer it neat, none of this mixer business! It is triple distilled so nice and smooth and it went down a treat, didn’t have any trouble going back for a second glass (or more). This is made with barley and I am a coeliac, however as it is distilled it’s fine as it doesn’t contain gluten due to the distilling process. If you know a Pogues fan this would make a great gift!

A beautiful full flavoured whiskey, it has a smooth taste and texture. Very warming when it goes down. It is one of the lightest Whiskey's I have had the pleasure of trying. Nice golden caramel colour. Apparently it is named after the Christmas hit duo irish rock band. I think this is a whiskey to try, it has made me look at what other whiskeys they do now. You won't be disappointed.
