I'm always wary of cheaper products and fall for the "it must be poo if it so much cheaper than others". In this case not so.This is a class product.I have a bog standard, very greasy, tow bar. I was worried this wouldn't fit plus worried how does it work. This arrives and without reading the instructions was able to fit this. It is just a case of flipping the arms over, loop the securing loop over the tow bar ( loop something more expensive don't have) close one side of the cup against the bar, open the rack like a massive pair of scissors. Now here is where you will worry. It gets very stiff now. Make sure you hold the handle down, else it is locked as is.Holding the securing handle put your weight on the handle and push down. This will then lock into position . there is a pin to prevent the unit from coming undone but that would only be via a malfunction. My young 12 year old is able to put this unit on so doesn't need loads of weight just confidence. Now tighten the securing screw at the bottom ( again just for belt and braces)Where the locking pin is located I now use a long padlock to lock the unit on to my car1 the rack can't be removed with this pin in place and so can be left in situe whilst out cycling2 the bikes can be locked to the rack as it cant be removed. It fold very small? Guessing 6-8" wide, 2" thick, 2'-2'6" long... As said small. It lives in my boot.Only thing it said that I'm sceptical or can't figure is that it supposable can be used whilst towing. Can't figure that out. tilting it when trying to get in my boot, loosen clasp and hold bikes... Only attempt if two of you and when really desperate. I saw a 2 bike version in the range Bolton that was £14 but was no where near as good as this one.I've used this for dips and it is solid. The cars suspension gets a work out as it holds tight with my 13stone of weight.I've had up to now only 2 bikes on it. 2 old steel MTB, took them to the tip. The road there is full of potholes. The unit held steady, then picked up two others from a friend (30kg) plus a scooter.... Perfect.I bought some elasticated straps too make sure everything stayed in place...All in all, if you have any doubt..... Don't have any... Just buy this its perfectOthers that look the same may not be.... As said saw one in the flesh that looked identical until a proper look at revealed cheaper clasps, pins etc... Play safe and get from here.

Bought this as i dont like the standard carriers that rest against the rear window with straps and wanted something to carry my ebike (so heavier then normal bikes at 23kg) to and fro to cycle routes. Comes fully assembled and without the instructions i had it fitted within a minute. As you can see by the photo i have a mondeo hatchback and it fits very nicely on the back. The bolts did require tightening as some were loose allowing play in the arms but it fits on the towbar ball very securely! Feels tight and like it wont move, to test this (remembering it says max of 45kg) i decided to hang off it and swing around, im currently 101kg and it didnt budge a single mm!So i did it again and jumped up and down hanging off it and again, didnt move at all! Folds up nice and small to fit into the boot or store away somewhere. The only issue is the obscured number plate but a replacement with a couple of holes drilled and a bungee strap will solve that problem. Overall very pleased and would reccomend.

I was a little unsure about purchasing this carrier due to being concerned how secure it would be on the tow-ball. I had read other reviews so i decided to try it for the money. The carrier arrived quickly. After unpacking it looked pretty robust, but was unsure about it fitting securely. I attached it to the tow-ball and after following the instructions tested it by putting my weight (12 st) onto it and it didn't budge. I got it to carry 2 bikes which it will do quite easily. The only downside is depending on the style of your bike the bike can slope to one side which is the only problem I noticed when you went over large speed bumps, one of the wheels would catch on the ground, this was easily solved by removing the wheel, which isn't ideal but for the price and overall product is a minor inconvenience . the only other slight downside is you are unable to open the tailgate when the rack is attached. Overall I would recommend this product, for value for money and sturdiness.

Lightweight but of a reasonably good quality. Clamps on the towball securely and I have put most of my body weight on to test for rigidity and that it doesn't slip off the tow ball or have any lateral movement. I incidentally have a grease free tow ball, I don't think a greasy ball would help as it relies on friction! 3 bikes do fit on, but better as a 2 bike rack. You will probably need to buy a trailer board to legally use this rack, however these can be picked up now for about £15 plus a number plate, so factor this in before you buy. Packs down to a smallish size and I am keeping in the boot as a just in case. Good news, no assembly required as it all folds up in its box and opens out without any fiddly nuts and bolts.I believe the description states this can be used when towing. I cannot see how unless you undo the bottom bracket and attach onto the towball and bolt through but being in the caravan trade, I would not recommend this.

My high mounted bicycle carrier took 30 minutes for me to install and I've always had to stop after a few miles and tighten the straps, this towbar mounted carrier is the best purchase I've made this year. One tiny gripe: It can only comfortably hold 2 adult bikes, I wouldn't like to try 3. I also secure a bungy cord from its upper arms to the rear wiper base to make me feel more comfortable about it not slipping down - but I don't think this is at all necessary.I paid £25 for this, the quality is good and once it's clamped into place it can take the weight of a heavy set man without budging. After a few uses I can now install it in 2 minutes and take it down in 1 minute.(obviously loading it depends on the bikes..) It has two fail-safes it the form of a key locking in the top bar and a bracketed clamp around its base.

Fits fairly easily (if not that quickly) to my tow bar and still allows me reasonable visibility out of the rear window. I have fitted 2 adults bikes to it with out any problems but have not yet needed to try 3 but think it looks just about possible. Used it to transport bikes to the Lake district and back from London without any problems and did not notice any obvious change in fuel consumption either. The only downside is that it does block access to the boot and it is not possible to take the rack of with the bikes attached (at least no way that I have yet discovered) so boot access when transporting 2 bikes can be a somewhat drawn out (taking the carrier off) or acrobatic (clambering over the back seat)process.Overall however, very pleased with it, especially for the price.

For the money this is a superb piece of kit. Fits perfectly on the towing hitch, I like the added securing feature at the bottom which you don't get on the more expensive well known brands which means it can't move at all. I swung off the thing to make sure it would do the job and it never budged. I do question though whether it would actually accommodate three bikes as two seemed about it's limit.Where the locking pin fits I would recommend a long shackle padlock, that way you can leave it attached to the car while you're off on a ride without fears of it being nicked or having to keep taking it off and putting it back on although this operation literately takes seconds to do straight out the box.Folds nice and compact for storage what more is there to say.

I bought this to replace my 20 year d model of similar design , it was even cheaper than my paddy hopkirk model and just as easy to use . Just open it out and clamps on the tow ball like a limpet, bike wheels are kept away from the rear of the car and it fits two bikes comfortablyAuto express did a review of bike racks and decided that one costing £350 was the best .... Well all I can say is try this for under £20 and you will look no further . Yes you have to remove it to open the boot..... but for the convenience and no risk of rubbing paintwork with straps. It does obstruct the number plate so really you should have another to display your plate clearly

It didn't fit on the towball very well at first, there was a good bit of sideways movement and it was impossible to press down the locking bar. I considered drilling more holes as others have suggested, but a friend identified the problem with the towball grip and shaved the tiniest amount off the front edges and problem solved. There's just enough pressure required on the locking bar to make the fit as tight as a glove and very sturdy. I haven't tried carrying a bike on it yet, but I feel confident it is up to the job. 4 stars because of the adjustment needed; I expect that many, like me, will not be able to locate the problem.

I read the reviews and on the back of that i bought one.I can confirm it fits on a swan neck towbar solidly. And I mean solidly. At £30 I expected to modify it a bit to beef it up. It doesn't need it. I've had various bike carriers over the years, this being the best by far. Im a tight wad Brummie, My company car had a towbar from new. It would cost way more to stick on a roof rack, and then the bike carriers. For £30 I feel like I should of been wearing a mask. As others have said, if you are on the market for a towbar mounted bike rack, £30 really is all you need to spend. 6 stars...

Looked to this for a cost effective way of adding a couple of kids bikes to the back of my motorhome along with the existing stock flama rig. The quality of the carrier itself is of decent quality and design. However, apart from the fact it looked fairly silly in situ on the back of the MH it didn't fit the possible slightly larger circumference of the tow bar on my MH. So, it's supposed to fit a 50mm tow bar which when measured mine was but i'd reckon the carrier is going to fit more like 47-48 mm ish. A couple of mm seems to make a difference ;/

I’ve just taken delivery of this. Looks pretty sturdy, clamps tight!I was a bit concerned when some were saying it wouldn’t fit a swan neck tow bar. But tbh I think they were just fitting incorrectly. When the carrier is in the closed position, swing the silver clamping bracket to the right hand side beside the wing nut. Clamp it closed and screw it together. I genuinely think people have been leaving the sliver bracket to the left. If that happens you can’t get it to the other side as the tow bar is in the way. I’ve attached pics to help.

Quality bike rack. Can't believe how strong it is just by clamping to tow bar. I could hang in it all 13.5 stone of me with no movement. So much easier than my dads conventional rack. It folds away in my boot in under a minute! Bike's hold lovely and sturdy head to toe of each other on the clamps supplied! Just bought a couple of bungy ties with hooks to stop wheels spinning which hook on in seconds. Has made our bike ride days out so simple. Highly recommended!!!

For something so inexpensive, this does a far superior job to the (expensive) branded bicycle carrier I used to have mounted to the rear doors of my van. It's simple to mount on the tow hitch, but takes a little experimentation and practice to load the bikes - for example, the cross bar on our smallest bike is too short to span the arms of the carrier, so instead I mount it between the handlebar end of the crossbar and the bike's luggage rack.

I was skeptical about this bike carrier, but i have used it twice now on long journeys, and it is brilliant value for money. It is so easy to put on the car and is rock solid once fitted. To fit and put on two bikes takes less than 10 mins. You could possibly fit 3 children's bikes on, but for full size bikes, I think 2 is the maximum number. Apart from that, it is rock solid, easy to use and amazing value. Can't praise highly enough!
