This is an easy to use piece of kit. It does what it's supposed to do. Before buting this I had to take my cycle carrier off and put it in the boot when riding the bikes. Now I can leave the carrier on the car. Some people have said it's flimsy and could be easily broken, but with where it's located, it would not be very easy to have any leverage or strike a heavy blow to remove it. At the end of the day, if someone is determined to steal your carrier, they'll steal it. It's a good deterrent. No problems recommending this.

A very simple device that is hugely effective. If you've bought a Thule bike carrier (probably with a chain to lock the bikes to it) you MUST buy this product. It will prevent an opportunist thief from unbolting the carrier, complete with bikes or empty, and making off with it. The lock is very easy to use and you would have to be very determined (and obvious) to break it off. A good deterrent. And it was delivered within a day.

This item is designed to go over the bolt head of the clamp that secures the Thule Ride On bike carrier to the tow ball and hence deny unauthorised access which it does but, and the body of the lock being made of plastic, and in my view, wouldn't stop a determined thief with a hammer to smash it off; but, and again in my view, it may deter the casual would be thief from removing the bike carrier from the tow ball of a car.

I bought this to keep my Thule Rideon bike rack from being taken from the tow bar. I am not sure that a determined attack would stop a thief, but its certainly good enough to secure the rack while parked in a service station. If the whole thing was made of metal I might be more convinced it was going to be really secure. I see it more as a deterrent to a casual opportunist.

I’ve seen lots of people complaining that this lock could be easily taken off with a hammer. Yes, they are probably right. But the same hammer could also be used to break into a car - but that doesn’t stop people buying cars.So on a positive note, this is a great lock for your Thule rideon bike rack. Very easy to use. Highly recommended

This is a fabulous piece of kit, despite only being on the tow bar it held two bikes securely, even on my own I could easily secure the carrier and bike and I agree with other reviewers it fitted perfectly in the boot when not in use. One good feature is the clip system for the number plate so I can swop it around on to other towed items.

Look, it's a bit of black plastic and a bit pricey. The idea is that it makes getting at the fixing mechanism on the bike rack a real pain in the neck for a thief. It just covers the bolt head and spins around. I am sure it would significantly delay a thief. Get one, you don't have an alternative

Although it's only plastic, it's a good cheap deterrent against the opportunist thief making off with your bike rack (and bikes!) if you pull in for a coffee. If you're heading off for a cycle I wouldn't trust it though! Throw the bike rack in the boot instead.

Having gone to the trouble of having a towbar and bike carrier, we did not want it stolen. Not very big, but does the job well. We can leave the carrier on the car when we are cycling and go off and enjoy our ride without worrying about it.

It fits ok. I’m not sure how long it would take a determined thief to steal it but at least by fitting the original lock from Thule, you can demonstrate to your insurance company you took reasonable steps to protect the bike rack.

Really unsure that this locking plastic cap would prevent bolt and rack removal with a mole wrench or similar tool. Seems designed to stop someone with no tools, just hands. I'll be adding other rack & bike security methods too!

Locks the bike carrier to your tow ball more as a delaying feature than a long term security lock. Seems expensive for what it is but if you still have a carrier when you return to your vehicle it must be worth it!!

This lock does the job and gives me peace of mind. The way its positioned when in place, would be quite difficult for anybody to get it off without being heard or seen. I would recommend this product

As other reviewers stated, one knock with a rock or hammer will have this off. As a visual deterrent it's fine but I'll use a chain and padlock when I leave it in a deserted car park

Fits easily. Prevents tampering. Won't stop a man with a big hammer I suspect, but I like to know the clamp has not been tampered with, and this works perfectly. Attached in seconds.
