So I’ve had a pair of these for a couple of weeks now, I bought them to pair up with the Sonos Arc.Packaging - these are expensive but when the box arrives you certainly know you’ve bought a quality product, they arrive in a nice little white box which lifts off to unveil a brown cardboard holding block, this is recycled which is great for the environmentally cautious . Lift this up and your let with the speaker itself wrapped in a little cotton blanket. Underneath the speaker there is some warranty information and a heavy duty power cable.Design and setup - the design of these speakers is great, there’s quite a bit of heft to them so bare this in mind when if you want to install them on a shelf or even a wall bracket (there’s plenty available on amazon)the top of the speaker is smooth with 3 different capacitive touch controls on top for volume, there’s also a little LED light to help with pairing. To set the speakers up just download the Sonos app and search for new devices, it will pick them up almost instantly and if like me you are pairing them with a Sonos Arc or Beam the setup is a breeze.Performance - so I was a little uneasy at first that a speaker of this size would have enough low end bass....I was wrong, this thing punches like nothing I’ve heard at this size before, bass is deep and well rounded. If you have this paired with other speakers you can go into the app and set these speakers as either ambient or full, this allows them to just play subtle background noise when loss tending to music or have them play the full audio, I have them set to full as this helps increase the bass level of the Sonos Arc.They really do sound fantastic and use them in a 5.1 system with an Arc and a sub and it will blow you away.Verdict - great sounding speakers, a little expensive but well worth it. If you want a hassle free 5.1 setup with loads of features and great sound then buy these, an Arc and a sub to match, you’ll be £1800 worse off but boy you’ll have a huge smile on your face when your watching your favourite film or sitting back and relaxing to some music. If you enjoyed this review please mark it as helpful, it helps us to keep reviewing products like this for you.

Sonos make some truly superb audio kit and this is no excpetion.I've had Sonos speakers ofr a number of years now. I have a couple of Sonos One Gen 1's and a Sonos Playbase. The gen 1's have since been upgraded to include a smart speaker that allows you to use Alexa or Google Home. This is where the SL differs as it is more an updated version of the original in so much as there is no smart speaker functionality but it retains allt he design and modern tech of newer models. To this end when you first pick it up you will notice how heavy it is. It comes well presented and first setup is straightforward.I would recommend taking time to run through setup to ensure you get the bets out of it as it can adapt to your surroundings.Built quality is stunning and aesthetically it looks the part and is not out of place anywhere. The controls on the top are sleek and touch based. There are a couple of ways you can send your music to it. The Sonos app allows you to add your sources and play form there as well as manage your devices, group them, upgrade etc.For some time now you can direct play from apps like Spotify which is what I tend to do. However, Apple are now making an aggresisve push with Airplay 2 found in many more devices thanks to their current focus on services such as tv and music. As a result the integration and functionality when playing through your iphone or pad etc is much more enhanced than it has been previously and is starting to be the way I play back music now.Sound quality is phenomenal. Even just one speaker will blow you away. Solid volume, rich tones and really delivers through a wide range. The SL is perfect for pairing, as they all do really, but as mentioned I have a playbase so I took the opportunity to pair it with one of my sonos ones for surround sound and WOW. This is amazing and really transformed my experience. I'd not done surround sound since almost 20 years ag which involved a lot of kit and wires.Invest in a Sonos, you wont be disappointed!

I bought 3 Sonos One SLs and found iphone setting up very easy to use. The sound quality is - for a UKL 160 device in pairs plus streaming from Spotify - very good 4*+ (I own high end hifi and headphones so I was not disappointed) and there is also EQ settings too if you need. The Sonos support (I have contacted from Austria) was, surprisingly, simply excellent, a very rare case for anything in Austria. Full credit to the helpful English speaking staff (not German English) who came quickly (not 15 mins later) on the free call, really a decisive post sales factor which I had not considered even and would now recommend heartily. Amazon delivery was within 4 days too.Apart from the initially hiccups of learning to go through the Sonos App when you want to listen to Spotify music on your home system, as opposed to pressing the Spotify App per se when you are in your car etc. (I would like to have a clearly menu layout in Spotify to be able to differentiate...), everything works well. I would have considered a lesser expensive system but have no qualms now. Only downside is that there does not appear to be a consistently apparent integrating device to plug in one's old CD players etc. as the Sonos kit seems to be changing or very old or otherwise confusing as to what one should actually buy (plus 400 pounds plus - expensive - to be able to hook up older devices).

We joined the Sonos family at Christmas when we bought a beam for the TV and they play 5 to replace our old clapped-out amplifier and speakers. This most current purchase was to place in the kitchen after we had a bit of a move around and took our computer into a different room. As a consequence, we were left with an echo dot which soun Sounds less than perfect if you want to listen to music. We received this product today and had it set up within minutes. Others had said to me how the speakers packed a punch even on their own, but I was still amazed when we started to play music through it. The base is deep and subtle, It has a lovely midtone and crystal clear top end.Even one individual speaker completely fills the kitchen/dining room with sound and is a lovely addition. The size means it sits nicely on our worksurface without too much trouble and isn’t taking up vital appliance space. I’m really pleased and have no doubt I will be back to buy another at some point. Note, this model does not have Alexa built-in, but as we have an echo dot, we have configured the Alexa app, so that when we ask for music, it plays straight to the speaker with no wires necessary. Therefore, voice control is still at our fingertips when we need it

I bought this product wanting a modern premium sound system for music and surround sound at home. I was very please with the two Sonos One SL which I paired up within 5 minutes with my Alexa devices and the app. I agree that having to download the app is a pain, but it is quick and can be useful when apps are added, including Spotify. I would recommend this product for anyone wanting a premium sound and willing to pay a little more. The sound compared to Echo devices is just another level in quality, especially bass.I'm planning on adding a Sonos soundbar (Beam, Playbase or Playbar) and subwoofer in time for a surround sound system, including the two Sonos One SLs I've bought as rear speakers. This adds to the appeal for me that there are multiple functions for this product, which I'm currently using as a stereo music system for the time being.

My main advice: Get two (or four, or six, or eight).I bought one to see what it was like and this will be the first of four. We use it in the kitchen and the sound is awesome for a mono device, I will add one to create stereo and then a second pair will live in the living room as the sound quality beats our aging hifi set by a distance. The price is really competitive compared to rivals, although one doesn't sound as good as a single Apple HomePod, two sound better, and two of these are still cheaper than a HomePod.The SONOS App on the phone is great, wide range of connectivity. I've now set it up with Spotify, Amazon Music and Google Play as well as a few radio plug-ins.Worth it!

This latest speaker in the Sonos range is the Sonos one without the microphone necessary to drive Alexa as voice assistant. In all other respects it is the standard Sonos one. That is to say it is a high quality speaker when used as a stand alone. I have paired it with a Sonos One with Alexa capability and the stereo sound is excellent.I have also set it up as part of a pair to use as surround sound speakers with a Playbeam. I am not a great movie watcher so this set up is a bit limited for me though in a couple of scenes in a movie I watched recently there was distinct sound from behind us as we sat on the sofa. So it does work but for me the stereo pair are the best use for this.

So...you obviously buy into the proprietary brands and have to stick with them, but if you haven’t yet invested I’d definitely advise Sonos. Super easy to setup and use (the app is shite but I use mine with Apple Music and before this Spotify, which worked perfectly). Paired, these sound amazing and fill all but the largest rooms...As for the SL specifically, this obviously lacks the microphone for Smart speaker capabilities (Alexa, Siri, etc) so pairs wonderfully with the Sonos One (that does have a microphone). Save yourself £20 by only buying ONE one, if that makes sense

We bought 2 of these speakers to add to our ‘Sonos Beam’ (sound bar) to give us ‘surround sound’ on our tv (in our living room) they work fab and were easy to set up / add to the ‘Beam’. They are wireless so don’t need wires to connect to the ‘Beam’ but do have a power cable... so need to be located near a socket. We bought both the Beam and the 2 x ONE SLs from Argos due to the great price and because we have a local Argos (within 2 miles of home) meaning we are also shopping ‘local’ too.

I’ve wanted a Sonos for so long after testing one a few years ago but never wanted Alexa so when they brought this version out I immediately bought it. It connects through WiFi so you can stream music and still use your phone without worrying about phone calls and texts interrupting your music. When you first set up it calibrates the sound to the room that your in for perfect sound. The sound quality is amazing.I’d put more about it but Argos has limited the length of the review. :(

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. I’ve wanted a Sonos for years and I but the bullet and bought two of the SL’s (version without microphone). The setup is so simple and the sound quality to me is phenomenal. We have one in the kitchen/dining room and another in the living room. You can easily play alternate music in both rooms, or the same music I’m both rooms at different volumes. At the discounted price these seem amazing value to me. Would defo recommend

I bought two of these to combine with a soundbar into a surround system. It was fiddly trying to get them all connected using the app, and took a while, but it was successful in the end and the result is fantastic. The power and quality of sound from these speakers is really surprising for their size, and they work very well together into a surround system that truly gives spatial immersion when watching movies and playing games.

The little speaker is packed full of power. I have an above adverage sized living room and a sinlge Sonos One SL can fill the whole room with music without even going past the 50% volume.I use mine with Soundcloud and Spotify and I'm very satisfied. I will be getting another one to pair with this for sterio sound in the future. I also hate voice activation so paying less to have that feature removed is a big bonus to me.

9.6.2020

I purchased these as an addition to the Sonos Beam we have in the living room. With the addition of two of these as rear left and right speakers, the difference in sound quality before and after is like night and day.Easy to set up as the app does all the work and connects seamlessly. You need to do a little tweaking in the app to get the best mind.Highly recommended product for use stand alone or as a cinema system.

29.12.2019

I got theses speakers to connect with my Sonos PlayBar and I am happy I did. I can use theses speakers to listen to music through the Sonos app and also connect them to the Playbar for surround sound which is fantastic for films and sporting events. I would recommend these to anyone deciding to take the plunge to purchase these speakers they should. Fantastic sound, easy to use and look great. Well worth it.
