The mat starts out lovely and cool but does absorbs body heat over time and gets warm, then it takes a while to cool back down again. I'm considering purchasing a second so I can swap them over to avoid this issue.The mat appears to be made of the same materials as the ice/heat packs I use for my back, I'm aware that eventually they do succumb to leakage (albeit they are subjected to extremes of temperature) but can often be patched with a puncture kit or some clear silicone. The mat came with an advice/care note in the box about punctures etc. At the end of the day it's never going to be easy if your pet has sharp claws or is a chewer etc but at this price I personally think it's decent quality.

I bought this for Polly (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) and thought it would take time to get used to but Polly took to it as soon as it was placed on the floor. It is Gel filled with a sturdy outer, wipeable cover and appears to be strong and sturdy. Polly uses it frequently during the day especially during the recent hot weather and quickly sussed out its cooling properties. The gel reactivates between uses and can be transported for use in the car, caravan or for holiday venues very easlily. I purchased the large mat as it gives the dog plenty of room to move around and lie stretched out to her hearts content and comfort. Polly makes for her mat as soon as she comes in from her walks and exercise play which she thinks is a good place to cool off.

I like this mat a lot. I think the dogs do too. I was pleasantly surprised at just how cool it was to the touch when it arrived.I do find that as my dogs (springers) lie on it they can displace some of the gel inside leaving the patch that they're on a little thin and so lacking support. I just placed a thick folded blanket underneath to give a little extra padding for them. I'm sure they don't care but I feel better. It's very easy to clean being water resistant and non fleecy I can just wipe it clean.I can't tell if they use it just because it's in the same place as the old mat or because they really do like it, but I feel better knowing that it goes some way to keeping them cool.

This was bought as a doggy present for a pug who likes shuffling around and to help keep him cool in summer. I can review this as I have the exact same one but in the size below. It's easy to wipe clean and use febreeze to make sure it smells fresh. My dog is not scared to sit or lie down on it. It's easily moved around from couch, floor, dog bed and bed. It has even come away on holiday with us as an essential item. I have seen a noticeable difference in his breathing and his temperature when using it. I have tried cheaper versions but have binned them because they do not feel cool for very long and the material annoys the dog when he tries to settle down.

Bought this for my German shepherd x Labrador he’s getting on and didn’t cope with the heat last year, on the plus side ( once he got used to it) it is very good, he doesn’t stay in the same place all the time, so after a while he’d get up, but that’s was ok it recalls itself after a time, the minus side is that while I was wiping it down I noticed a long cut and stuff oozing out his claws must have scratched it ,no problem I just turned it over , my son repaired it with tape, but after a while ,about a week, another cut appears, so basically the material it very fragile or not strong enough to withstand claws, but I’m glad we got it for him, just now it looks like a patchwork quilt

With the hot weather its important to look at ways to keep your dog nice and cool. Ive got a rescue spaniel who refuses to leave my side and usually sleeps at the bottom of the bed! He usually gets up in the night panting and looking for ways to cool down. I tried the wet towel method but that only lasts a short time. I bought this mat and it seems to work wonders. Taken a week or so for him to get use to it but tonight i have my leg room and doug has somewhere cool to sleep!It works by staying a certain tempterure cooler the the room and to reset it the dog needs to get off the mat so it can go back. This size mat is perfect for anything up to a medium size dog.

My elderly border terrier has been struggling in this heat lately and having been pleased with a gel bandano we bought him (cool 8 hours later) I decided to buy a scruffs mat for him. It came very quickly.I have replaced his usual mat on the sofa with this and he is fast asleep on it at the moment. The only thing I am disappointed abut is that the details that came with it says the cooling effect lasts only an hour :( and then has to be left for an hour to regenerate. Thats a shame as Id imagined it would be like the chill out bandano and last a much longer time. Still, anything that makes life more comfortable for my lovely dog is worth trying.

Received this morning, the sun is already out... After the heat yesterday when i put the dogs bedding out along with a fan to keep her cool in the shade, i thought it was an ideal time to order one of these on Amazon Prime ..... At first she wasn't sure what it was so kind of avoided it so i put her towel over it and within minutes she lead on it. After lying on it for a while she realised the benefit she could get from it and shifted her towel out of the way to reveal the coolness underneath. But what she also does is that if it gets too cool, she shifts her towel back and lies on it. It's a wonderful item, my labrador seems to think so too

My Labrador loves this mat. During our recent heat wave, my poor dog was suffering so badly as our house is hotter than outside, i would pop this in the freezer for 10 minutes (not sure this is recommended but its the only way i could get it cool again quickly for her) and she would literally run to it as i lay it out again for her. It lasts about an hour, depends how hot it is. Fantastic mat, i have sneakily put my feet on it too to cool them too and it is lovely and cool. Its plenty big enough too, her body fits well across it, she is petite but i am sure even a larger dog would benefit, She repositions herself to get to all the cool bits!

I purchased this with low expectations for an old dog who overheats easily. I am so happy to say that I was completely wrong and it works extremely well. From the second I unwrapped it, I could feel its temperature dropping and my dog was straight on it the moment I laid it down. Not needing to stuff it into the fridge to recharge it is amazing, just leave it alone and it does it all by itself. My dog follows me throughout the house and I simply drop it for him. Now, instead of relocating to a cooler area, he stays with me for as long as I stay put. I love it and so does he.

Dog and I both love it!! My Springer Spaniel was panting a lot in the Summer heat, and taking a long time to cool down even with damp towels etc. This works really, really well, she lies down on it as soon as I put it down for her. It cools her quickly and her breathing slows down, and she loves lying on it. Great for on the back seat of the car, or after a walk or running around. There is no way I can leave her alone with it tho as she does tend to drag beds around and chews them! On one particularly hot day I put it on my desk chair and omgosh the relief! Now I want one!

The best thing I have bought for my old Cairn Terrier for years. It has improved her quality of life enormously, as she now sleeps much better at night, rather than panting away. She moves on and off it all through the day, and the same at night. Note: the mat does warm up after the dog has been on it for a while, so as the manufacturer says, you cannot leave it in a cage when a dog is shut in it or can't move off the mat, as it would get too warm and be uncomfortable. My dog sleeps on a king size bed, so can move from cool mat duvet as she wants!

My Labrador doesn't cope well with the heat so summer was very miserable for her. She would get restless and pant constantly. I bought this to try and relieve her especially at night when she would wake everyone up with her very loud panting.She loved it! It took her while to get used to it but once she twigged what it did I couldn't get her off it (except when our other dog was sprawled all over it!)Had no problems with it tearing even with the scratting it tends to get and it's very easy to keep clean.

My dog is diabetic and struggles with the heat, so she absolutely loves the cool mat. I tried to get extra-large, but they were sold out - but as you can see from the photo she manages to stay cool. It was brilliant in the recent heatwave, but she lies on it even now the weather's not particularly hot - despite having 2 other dog beds in the room! (The socks are to stop her licking her paws - another story!) It's a good quality, durable product and you can definitely feel the cool gel activated by touch.

I was very sceptical when I brought this but decided it was worth a try as my boy doesn't do well in the heat. I was very impressed when it arrived its heavy weight and looked durable. I put it on his bed and encouraged him with treats but as soon as he got the hang of it and felt the benefit it was his first choice to use wether it was on or off of his bed. He is a Mini Schnauzer but I brought a large size to give him room to move around this enables him to always be on a cool part of the mat.
