I got this for our Corgi and Canaan to ride in my 2008 Fusion. The Corgi would demand so much of the seat, the Canaan had to sit with paws on the edge of the seat. The Corgi would also try to scoot up to the front seat. My goals were to protect the seat, provide a way to keep the Canaan from slipping off the seat, and to keep the Corgi in the back where he belongs. So far this fills the bill.I gave this only 3 stars. It definitely helps with the reason I bought it. But there are some things I wish were better, and I can't vouch for the long term durability. It fits my back seat, but the design could be better. If it were a bit wider, the excess could fit down between seat and door and help keep the dogs from exposing the edge of the back seat as they get in. My Fusion does not have large enough headrests in the back seat to hook the hammock on. Instead, I had to use the child seat anchors. Threading the straps through them works well. The instructions say to slip the bungee cord under the seat to anchor the hammock to the seat. Unfortunately, there is no way to do that on the Fusion. The cord is anchored too far forward. It rises enough in front the Corgi can't scoot through the front seats to get up where I don't want him. The Canaan now has enough room to lay down and not fear falling to the floor. It could use a bit more width, and the bungee in a better location. I'm not sure of any better way to fasten to a back seat when you don't have the requisite headrest. But, it would be nice to have more options.I've used this for a month and a half so far, and it works well. I can't speak to how the material will hold up. But so far it is holding up very well.Right now my wife drives a two-door. It isn't practical to use the hammock in that type of car because the dogs can't get in easily. We are getting my wife a different car. I'm getting her a hammock so she can take the dogs with her too.An unexpected benefit: my wife got some potted roses to plant. I put them on the hammock for the ride home. The roses rode well sitting on the hammock. They leaked onto the cover and the interior was protected. The mess cleaned up easily too.If you have dogs, and a 4-door car, this is definitely worth considering for the back seat.Update:Since first publishing my review, I've transferred this to a 2006 Ford F150 FX4. It fits across the seat same as it did in the Fusion. A little more width would have been nice. It is a bit of a stretch from the back to the headrests on the front seats. It seems a bit tight fit around the posts of the headrests. A slightly longer strap would help. But, it does fit. There is more room under the hammock to stow some gear on the floor. I have upped this to a 4-star rating because it definitely fits the wider gap of the back seat of the pickup. However, it still has the width issue and the the straps to fasten the front around the headrest posts could be a bit longer.Update: 20110917Used this to take my corgi with me for a 2200 mile trip. It worked out great! Used a dog bed for him to rest on which helped raise him up a bit. Gear was stowed under the hammock on the floor. Also slipped some stuff on the seat to the side and under the hammock. To remove dog hair I just put on a pair of latex gloves and run my hands along it. You do have to clear the velcro of hair, especially if it parts while loading and unloading around the hammock, or the dog manages to work it loose. Still wish it were a tad wider though. And maybe just a bit more reach from front to back. But, overall I'm very glad I bought this for the dogs.Update: 20120524If I could, I'ld now give it 4 1/2 stars. As you can see, I've had this in use for quite awhile now. And it is still holding up great! Not only that, but when I'm working fence, I can toss tools in the back on it and it protects the seat. I've had tarps, hand tools, heavy bags of softner salt, groceries, all kinds of things that find their way in the back seat of my FX4 cab when it is raining out, or has to be kept secured. This was definitely one of my better purchases for my vehicle.Update: 20140130Well, it is finally showing its age. Starting to sag by the backs of the front seats. (Odd, I'm starting to sag out front too?) A rolled up dog bed fills the 'trench' and keeps the old Corgi (14 yo now) out of it. Still water resistant. But velcro for openings in the hammock have to be cleared of dog hair from time-to-time. (With 2 dogs that is not at all surprising.) Had to replace one strap that broke at a buckle, but used a short piece of rope rather than resewing with webbing. In its defense, a lot more than just dogs have been kept off the floor by it.Overall, it is well worth the cost. When this one finally has to be replaced I'll be looking for the same as a replacement.Final note: Because of how long it has held up; the loads it has held up with; and the fact it has never really given me any significant issues at all, it now deserves a 5-star rating.20170429-I know I had said the last was the final update, but wanted to add this final comment on the original hammock I was using. Gus died 2015. He was a trooper. My new girl, Dixie, now rides in his place. I finally replaced the original hammock last winter. The backing was finally cracking and flaking off enough, and some of the straps fraying that I decided to just install the new one in the back of my F150. I don't think anyone can go wrong with this product. It had held up almost 6 years.

I've tried cheaper hammocks for my dogs but they just aren't worth the savings. This one appears to be quality-made and heavy duty - and looks like it will last. Comes with a great warranty that I doubt I will ever need to use. I have two Great Danes that love to share the back seat and this hammock has proven to be up to the challenge. I've owned it for about 8 months and it is still like new - and it looks really nice with my beige leather interior too. :-) Super easy to keep clean (throw it in the washing machine) or just sweep it or use a damp cloth for touch-ups. The straps are strong and beefy -- so important when there are 200++ pounds of dog in the back seat!It fits my Subaru Outback perfectly. There is only one minor issue: the velcro that keeps the seat belts in place isn't too substantial, so the seat belts do not always stay in place. This can cause the ends of the hammock to not stay down if you have dogs that move around a lot - since the seatbelts actually help keep the hammock in place. But that is only a minor issue when factoring in the quality of material and build. Also, don't be disappointed if it doesn't keep all the dog hair off your seat - I've had dogs for decades and no seat cover keeps the dog hair off the seats, completely. To me, the benefit of this type of seat cover is the comfort for the dogs and their safety. When applying the brakes, I don't worry about them sliding into the foot-wells -- especially if they are stretched out and resting. The hammock comes in a matching, similar-material pouch - although I'm not so sure how many folks stow their dog's seat cover when not in use; I find it easy to just unclip the front clips and fold the seat cover up when I'll be having people in the back seat instead of the dogs. But the pouch is so nice I decided to use it carry tools -- super strong and looks nice! :-)UPDATE: dropping a star: as others mentioned, the front zipper does not hold well - also, a strap failed in about a year. That said, I still like the sturdy material that was used and may buy it again - even though I had to throw it out in about a year and a half after a second strap failed.UPDATE: May, 2020 - after searching through dozens of dog hammocks, I decided to purchase this one again. Although it did not last 'years' as I thought it would, it really is a top notch car hammock for my two dogs. Its weak link is the straps that hold the clips. The material was going strong even after many washings - so that convinced me to purchase it again. I have some straps that I use for my couch covers that will work just fine should the straps on this hammock fail in a year or two.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the box/bag and took out the hammock was that it was made of very strong, heavy duty material. We have a 2009 Acura MDX and the hammock was easy to install. The two "Bungie Cords" that was missing on one reviewer's unit was probably just unseen. The bungie's are on the underneath side and towards the front middle of the rear seat when the hammock is installed. I saw them when I first took the hammock out of the box/bag and made note of their location. In my opinion, that's where this hammock needs help. They ask you to pull the bungies under and around the rear seat's front corner and tie them to tabs installed on the door sides of the hammock.I felt that tying them would cause a problem later when I needed to untie them to take the hammock out. I made an adjustable slip knot and attached a small hook/clip to the bungie and then clipped it to the attachment ring. Now it's easy to install, uninstall and adjust.I do have a friend up the street that has a hammock from a different manufacturer and they use a strapped anchor that slips into the crease between the rear seat's back and the seat itself to hold the bottom of the hammock in place and keep it from sliding forward. I like this attactment better than the one Kurgo employs. The downside is that their hammock is not as ruggedly made as the Kurgo unit. We have a 11 mo. old Bernese Mountain Dog that is now 90 lbs and probably on her way to 110 lbs. or so at maturity. This Kurgo hammock supports her well and with the weight/quality of the material, I have no worries that she'll tear it in some way and get to where she could ruin my leather seats.Overall, I'm very pleased with the hammock. The zippered separator worked well when we need to quickly open up a rear seat for an extra passenger. And my BMD loved the company.I just wish the "bungie" anchoring system was a little more user friendly.

UPDATE: I was moving something on the hammock that was ridiculously heavy and it tore the hammock open. F F F! I checked out the warranty info on the site and wanted to make sure it was covered. I emailed the company and within 24hrs received a response that yes, I could get it replaced for $10 and $5.95 return shipping. SERIOUSLY!?!? I thought she was joking. I confirmed what I read was accurate and she said yes. Easy peasy. Amazing customer service. That hammock was 5 years old, going on 6. I've seen other hammocks that friends use for their dogs and there is no comparison. This stuff is amazing. I've put in the wash a few times and it still functions perfectly. After checking out various seat covers,I ended up choosing this one. The problem with just plain old seat covers is that your dog really isn't well protected when you might need to brake all of a sudden, so your dog can fly in the front seat or hit the back of the front seat and possibly fall down to the leg area in the backseat (which happens to my friends' dogs who use regular car seats [Soggy Dog brand]).I also love this because of the material - you can wash it and because it's not cotton or polyester like other car seats, my dog's hair isn't stuck on it. My dog's hair will fall on it but I can just use my hand and brush it off easily. I also like that I can just hook the hammock up easily, or take it out/down when I have passengers in the back seat or when I want to take it out to dump any hair or sand she collected from the beach.I also like that the front part that goes by the front seats can be used as a barrier so my dog can't just fall to the front, or try to weasel her way up easily.

This didn't work as a hammock. I thought my Prius might be too small and there would be too much cloth. Maybe I installed it wrong, or maybe my expectations were off, but the canvas didn't drop low enough to touch the back seat. When I put my dog in the back seat, she is already very nervous in the car, she trembled in the air above the seat. I had to take her out immediately, disconnect the hammock from the front seats and use the canvas as a seat cover. As a seat cover it was a seat saver! I bought it because the car was new and I didn't want paw prints all over the leather seats. Two days after I installed it I was driving a four hour trip and my dog had gastritis and diarrhea all over the back seat.It was difficult for sure, she was covered, her leash was covered, there was no place to give her a good bath.We had to travel with her just barely clean. But my leather seats with those tiny little pin holes, were perfectly protected! The canvas went into the washing machine when we reached our destination, I dried it in the sun, and it is as good as new. What wonderful luck we purchased it when we did.One downside, probably just a problem with leather seats, the canvas slides on the seat. I put a fleece blanket under the canvas and another on top for my dog's comfort. It helps the problem somewhat. She still hates the car, but you can't expect everything from a seat cover! I recommend this as a seat cover but not as a hammock.

I would have given this 5 stars except that the first one I received had a zipper that split after the second day. The zipper is used to unzip half the hammock if you need to have someone sit in the back. I believe the zipper was just mis-stitched in manufacturing. Amazon quickly replaced it and this one I've been using for several weeks and it's AWESOME(although I almost never use the zipper but this zipper seems pretty high quality) . I have a 35 lb mixed Lab puppy that loves water! 3-4 times a week we go to a lake, stream, dog park to play and my back seat remains unstained despite muddy wet paws. High quality plastic backed charcoal gray canvas is very water proof. Nice detail with rust colored accents. The matching canvas bag is a nice touch but it doesn't leave much room for error in folding up the hammock. I admit I never use it but the first hammock I bought was difficult getting it back in the storage bag to return it with the defective zipper. Also, I didn't use it the included straps to connect the hammock to the headrests of the front back seats, instead I used 8 small carabiners that I had to quickly clip the hammock into place.I also bought the matching door panels. While they too are made with the same high quality canvas, the mechanism that attaches them to the back doors leaves a lot to be desired. I wish the panels zipped onto the ends of the hammock. I wrote a separate more detailed review on those.

I received this the other day. It was a bit daunting, at first, when I was looking at it and trying to figure out the instructions. But once I got it laid out properly, I was able to install it. It's sort of large for my Subaru Outback wagon. But my dog, a lab, truly loves being in the back seat, rather than in the back cargo area where she has ridden since I've owned the car. My leather seats don't seem to be doggy friendly and so this was a great solution.I saw this while I was at the dealership, getting some work done on my car. I almost bought it, but then I looked on Amazon and, well, you sure can't compete with the price here! I saved quite a bit.I haven't tucked the bungee cords under the seat yet,so that will probably give a more snug fit.The fabric is heavy duty and I suspect it will last. The storage bag it comes with attaches nicely to the back of the front seat. It's also made well and I love having a place to store the hammock when I need to.My only real complaint is how noisy it when my dog is on it, as she walks back and forth. I almost gave this only 4 stars for that reason, but then I realized if it were nice and quiet, it probably wouldn't hold up as well. I figure I'll get used to the scratchy noise after a few rides with my dog on it.All in all, for the price and the quality, I recommend this for anyone who needs a seat protector to go with your dog!

Have had this item for one week but used it multiple times for our large lab. She sheds a lot and is in the water often and this has kept the interior of our new car looking that way! It was easy to install and has protected the seats well so far! We have a Toyota Matrix and it fit easily over our seats with a bit left over to tuck in near the door. There was a very slight smell after opening the box, but it dissipated after a few minutes. It is great to have the option of adding a passenger with the zipper in the middle, though it does occasionally unzip a bit when the dog rests her head on the edge. We also use a harness to keep our dog from getting into the front seat and had no problem working with this product to install both. The material (with the exception of the orange stripe) is durable and it is nice to have the bag to put dog toys in or pack up the seat cover. Overall I am very pleased with this product, especially for the price we paid. The black goes fine with the interior of most cars, even with the orange stripe. The stitching seems solid and my only concern is the longevity of the plastic hooks that attach around the headreast. I could see this being a weak point and would have preferred metal hooks and d-rings, but they have showed no sign of strain so far, even when the dog puts all her weight on them. It is serving it's purpose and was affordable!

This is my second Kurgo hammock in the past 5 years. They are VERY durable and easy to clean. I've tried a cheaper brand in the past and it just didn't hold up with my 75 lb Golden Retriever and my 26 lb rescue pup. Kurgo's fabric holds up to their claws AND catches their crazy amounts of fur. It is easy to adjust, and stays in place very well. The only reason I still don't have my first Kurgo hammock is that my little dog threw up some INCREDIBLY NASTY stuff he ate off the ground at a park, and I refused to clean it! On the cheaper brand I bought next, the center zipper broke right away. I've had NO problems with the zippers or head rest clips on my Kurgos. It is definitely worth the money.I drive a Subaru Forester and it fits perfectly along my back seat. Be aware that it doesn't protect your side doors, so if your pups like to stand up and look out the windows, you may consider an additional protector. I also hike with family every weekend, and it is so easy to convert to still have a space for the dogs, and a space for a back seat passenger to sit comfortably and use their seat belt (it also keeps the person's hiking dirt off my seats!). Overall, I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it!

I have a 120lb Rottie and a 50lb rottie mix and bought this for a long road trip I was taking. I found this hammock to be a lifesaver. My babies had a little extra elbow room and did not fall in between the seats when I had to hit breaks a few times. I took it out of my hubby's CRV and have it in my Accord now which has really helped keep my back seat cleaner. However I'd like to mention that the box says it comes with two anchors which it does not. I simply improvised and used some twine to secure it by looping it through the back seat and tying it together. This helped in my CRV since it is leather and the hammock was sliding too much. Once we secured it with the twine it was perfect. At one point my Rottie was trying to get in the car and managed to break off one if the clips that keeps it hung around the headrest. We simply took off the headrest and looped the straps throught it. I have it this way in my accord too and have not had any problems with it.Over all it has been great. Some people may complain about still getting dog hair on the seat and what not but keep in mind that dogs are always loosing hair. No matter what you put on the back seat, it will have hair.

I got this for my Dodge Magnum to keep my new yellow lab from damaging the leather seats on a 1000 mile road trip for Christmas. While the Magnum has adjustable front headrests, the rear headrests are just a contoured rise to the rear seats. As the instructions say this hammock fits best on removeable headrests I hoped there would be enough of a lip to hold the straps keeping the rear of the hammock in place. Well going for test drives with the dog to see how the hammock worked those rear straps kept coming off the headrest and the hammock would bunch up on the seat. So instead of looping the strap around the rear headrests, I just ran it over the top of the seat and found a place behind the seat to fasten it.But for a 17 hour drive one way and 17 hours back, with the dog getting in and out of the car every 2 hours in the snow and rain, the hammock stayed in place, proved that it's waterproof, and kept my seats protected. It's a great product if you have adjustable headrests on both front and rear seats, and if not it can still work for you if you can find a creative way to make sure it stays in place.

I recently had to replace a Kurgo hammock I'd had for three years, and I'm surprised it lasted so long because my dog and I are very active, going to the beach almost daily. The original hammock stood up excellently to the abuse we put it through, all the while providing excellent protection for my seats. The hammock itself is waterproof, so having a wet dog in the car never worried me, nor have I ever had any issues with water seeping through to the seats. The fabric dries quickly and the hammock is easy to remove to shake out any sand or dirt that comes along with the wet dog after running at the beach. I deep clean the hammock occasionally when I take my car to be cleaned, using the same methodology as cleaning the car mats. This leaves the hammock very clean, and also removes any dog hair that might have woven itself into the fabric. I also used a couple of carabineers hooked to the child seat latches in order to secure the hammock to the rear headrests. This makes it very simple to remove the hammock for cleaning or to make room for non-furry back seat passengers.

This is a great product. Both my labrador dogs climb in the front seat then go through the zippered area between the seats to their side of the rear seat then stick their heads out the window. When braking the dogs don`t fall off the seat into the foot well area which used to worry me that they might get hurt. Most of the dog hair is kept in the hammock area for quick vacuuming. Also any cleaning is so easy, just lay it on the ground and hose it off.One more thing I use this in both of my cars a 2010 dodge and a 1970 pontiac GTO that does not have headrest on the rear seats,,,No problem.I just cut a piece of garden or radiator hose about 6 inches long.Slice down one side of the hose and slip it over the strap that would go over the rear headrest. Then push it down behind the rear seat where a headrest would normally be on a newer car. This holds tight and does not pull out.Great produck well made we used to use a blanket that always ended up in a pile on the rear floor..Thanks JD

My dogs come with me everywhere just about, and we live a very active life. For heavy use with three large dogs in and out of my car covered in mud daily in and outta my car, occasionally hurling in my car, etc, this lasted about a year.It finally shredded apart since I had to wash it so often to remove the doggy smell. I think if you washed it less often, you would have a longer life span, but that's not an option with my constantly muddy babies. Mine was washed probably every two weeks. I finally realized that I should line the bottom of this with a blanket and wash the BLANKET regularly to save the tarp longer. I'll update in a few years and let you know how this is going.I bought a second one because I loved it so much. The carrier case that comes with them is endlessly handy, I use them in all my cars even when the dogs aren't with me just to store little things in a handy place I can reach from the driver's seat without a fuss!

I've had several canine car hammocks over the years, but none compare with this one! The hammock is made of a strong, heavy, canvas with a waterproof backing that prevents spills and accidents from ruining your interior. It fits perfectly in my mid sized SUV, but would also cover nicely in a large vehicle. It fits well door to door, and has enough material front/back to remain relaxed when installed. It also has a lightweight wire sown into the hem so that you can bend it and have it stay in place if necessary. There is also a nice zipper between the front two seats that allos you to reach back, or let the air conditioning flow to your pup. When I ordered it, I worried I would hate the orange accent stripe, but it's actually not bad. I won't necessarily use the storage bag and bottle, but it's a nice touch. I love the hammock and would highly recommend it! I'll certainly buy it again - if I ever need to (which appears unlikely!).
