Short version: I purchased this and the Solvit to compare both and find one thats fits best in my car. If you have a large raised bench seat as found in trucks and suv's then i would recommend the Solvit cover, it should fit fine and the quality of materials between the two covers are comparable. See my review of the Solvit cover. If you have a sedan, especially with a folding rear seat, then the kurgo would suit you better.***See install tips at bottom if nothing else***Detailed: I installed this cover first and it took 20-30 minutes to make all the adjustments to make it fit as good as possible, but now that it's adjusted, all straps have buckles so it "saves" the settings and it took less than 5 minutes to reinstall after I decided to keep this one over the Solvit. This seems well made and the extra storage pockets are a plus for waste bags, toys, etc. If you have a sedan with a standard size rear seat that folds down, then this cover is as close as you can get to a perfect fit without getting a custom cover. One reviewer complained about difficulty being able to install it, but it only goes one way, the two buckle straps go around the headrests, the rest falls in place and you just have to work it into place and make adjustments to get the best fit. The strap that goes around behind the folding seat holds it back against the seat and helps prevent lateral movement, and I'm not sure why the other reviewer couldn't get this strapped either. You fold down the seats, buckle it together, tighten, and then fold the seats back up. This is as good a fit as can be expected from a universal seat cover. It really should be labeled for sedans with folding seats as I believe this is what it was modeled around, and vice versa for the Solvit as it seems to be designed around an SUV/truck. I will agree that the bungee that holds down the front corners is lacking, but I would suggest pulling it out and replacing with 550 cord that doesn't stretch and securing it that way for a tighter fit. This doesn't have the PVC insert to go between the back and seat like the Solvit, but in my opinion that didn't hold it that tight and the rear strap around the seat seems to be holding it snugly in place. An additional bonus that isn't expressed in the picture is that it has enough material on the backrest sides, with a seam that makes it seem to be on purpose, to tuck the sides in between the folding seat and side of the car, which provides additional support. I also had just enough material around the seat front bottom and sides to tuck it in between the floor and cushion which again provides more support to hold in place. I really liked the extra protection for the sides and front of the seat, but this also doubles to make it look more like a custom seat cover and thought out, not just a blanket with straps thrown down on top like the Solvit. The one area of concern I had for either cover was the seatbelt slits, which I wanted, but was worried about liquid running back and going right though the slits. This cover did a better job than the Solvit, at least how it fit my car, by having those slots about an inch or two higher up the back so if liquid runs back it shouldnt reach high enough to get through the hole. It also has Velcro flaps to cover the holes when not in use which should prevent too much crud from getting between the cover and seat. This cover is nearly perfect except for a few areas of improvement that I would be more than willing to pay extra for. My suggestion to both companies is if you are going to make a "waterproof cover" but have large holes where liquid is just going to run right through, then use waterproof zippers and flaps so they can be closed when not in use and prevent the waterproof cover becoming useless when liquid just goes right through the intentional holes. Second, for this cover, there should be a thicker edge piping at the seat bottom seam so it can be pushed between the seat bottom and floor. this will provide additional holding power when wedged in, similar to the Solvit PVC pipe concept, but in the front of the seat instead as the rear strap on this seems to hold well in place of the PVC.***Install Tips***Some suggestions for install and ensured long life. I would not recommend machine washing these. The instructions for the kurgo say front loader only, no agitator post machines. Both of these covers are laminated plastic on the back of the material which provides the waterproofing. Some reviewers complained about the material cracking and coming off after washing. These covers are no doubt kept in your car during extreme hot and cold temps which I'm sure will eventually shrink and expand the laminate enough to crack it, machine washing it by cramming it in any washer and wrinkling it will only expedite this process. The best option if an accident happens it to use some mild cleaner, hose it off, and hang dry.Second, during install the straps that go around the headrest, reviewers complained about these sewn straps tearing away from the cover. During my first install I immediately realized why and how to avoid this. When you install you are most likely just reaching in your car and then you tighten these headrest straps down. With no weight on the seat they are fine, but when someone sits down or a dog jumps in, these are pulled down tighter by their weight and will no doubt tear in short order. What I recommend most is that you do not tighten these down until the end. When ready, sit in the seat first, then reach back and tighten just snug while your weight is pulling it down. Then move to the other side and do the same. This makes for a slightly looser looking fit, but will prevent any tearing since the additional weight is compensated for and only the weight of the cover is ever put on the sewn straps.

UPDATE: This is very sad.... Kurgo is still fantastic about honoring their lifetime warranty, BUT they are now using an inferior material that is much thinner, lighter and easily rips. They sent me a replacement and the replacement came out of the box just shredded by the seat belt flaps!I have a Honda Civic EX, 1999. Therefore, there are no headrests for the back seat and thus, I have been looking for years for a car seat cover that could attach without headrests, is truly waterproof (not just water resistant), has side-to-side coverage as the back seat in a Honda Civic is not a freestanding "bench seat," sturdy (I have a Newfoundland-Chow mix) but still flexible and thin enough to easily wash, and that my dog does not slide around on. This Kurgo bench seat cover is almost perfect. It turns out that although I do not have rear seat headrests, there are 2 hooks on the back at the top of each seat (it is a 60/50 split). Therefore, since these headrest straps are adjustable (with a click release clip like a dog collar) I can expand them to a longer length and then thread the straps thru these loops; it works just as if I there were head rests. There is also a side-to side, wider strap that goes left to right across the whole back of the seat. Ideally, it should be pulled tight for a snug fit. However, I found that I had to loosen the strap to enable coverage of the back seat stationary "side panels." There is about 1 inch on each side that is not covered, but since my dog does not sit on the very edges of the seat this is not a problem, and despite the loosened strap the cover stays in place. It also stays in place without having to use the bottom seat "cords". It is too difficult to pull the bench seat out to wrap the cords around and under the bottom seat portion of the seat. This would be perfect if the fitted corners were just a little bit deeper (then, that bottom cord, I think, would not be necessary at all) for a good fit without using the cord and to protect the lower front portion of the seat (the part from the top of the seat down to the floor mats of the car). Another plus is that this does have seat belt "holes" that can open up (velcro covers), so my nephew's booster seat sits nicely right on top of the car seat cover. (No more pulling the sheet half way off across the seat so the dog can sit on one side and the booster seat can be strapped in with the seat belt on the other side.) This cover also has a lifetime warranty. I would highly recommend this to a friend. 4 3/4 stars

UPDATE: So I've had this cover for about a month now. I use it frequently. I will say that I LOVE the waterproof feature of this. Between dirt, mud, snow and dog bowls, as well as spilled coffee, it's lasted. However, the dog hair of my 2 huskies clumps all over the seats and it's difficult to just brush it off. It's kind of annoying honestly, especially when I roll the windows down, dog hair is EVERYWHERE. More than usual. So that's a bummer. Also, I don't know how much more I can snug down this cover, but it's slipped a bit and I can't seem to cover the entire bench seat, so I still seem to get hair and dirt on the sides by the doors somehow. Also, it doesn't cover my head rests like it did before,so now those are dirty and matted with dog hair.I have 2 huskies, I knew what I was getting myself into here, but I was just hoping for something a bit better. I almost feel like using a fitted sheet worked a bit better, minus it coming off frequently, not being water repellent and that I couldn't ever get to the seat belts. All in all, I would recommend this to someone to use, it is very helpful, but I think for the price, it could fit a bit better. I AM VERYYYY appreciative for this purchase though and Kurgo doing a pretty good job at dog stuff. I wish their nano puff look alike cover wasn't so expensive! I would have bought that in a heart bet! This fits a Honda CRV pretty good. I cinched down everything pretty good and it's stayed in place and hasn't moved around. Just in time because soon as I finished putting it on, it started to snow. My dogs have already gotten it all wet, it seemed to dry pretty quick and the seats underneath were untouched by the dirt and water. However, it does seem like one side was longer than the other? Because the seat belt velcro holes sit nicely on one side, but off center for the other. It's alright though, because you can still access the seat belts underneath. Love that the holes velcro to keep dirt and hair from accumulating. All the extra pockets are nice, however, it's for my dogs, so I don't know what they have to put in the pockets ahaha.Glad I finally pulled the trigger, good purchase.

I don't have pets, but my kids can make a real mess of upholstery with food spills, shoes on the seats, and being dirty/sweaty from sports. This provides great protection and seems very durable. Compared to custom seat covers, I like that this could be removed and replaced pretty quickly if necessary and also switched to other vehicles if needed (when I get a new car for example). One of my son's complained once that it is not as comfortable to sit on. Probably because it is not breathable. It is also not as soft since it is cordura nylon, which feels similar to canvas. The complaint has not been repeated and I am OK with a little trade off in comfort since they are the ones who made this protection necessary.Plus this is preferable to nagging them about food spills and shoes. This is a whole lot better than trying to keep towels on the seats, which did not stay in place or protect that well. The grey color is a perfect match to my upholstery, which is a medium gray color, but would also probably look fine in other color interiors as well. The fit is very good for my 2006 Civic. Since it is designed to drape over the seat, it would fit many vehicles. The strap that goes behind the seat back doesn't really have anywhere to go on this car where they would be effective, but they are not really needed anyway. The seat belt for the center seating position is hidden and there is no way to use it with the cover in place. We do not use that seating position anyway. With the windows down and the seat empty, it will billow in the wind, but this is not a serious problem and can be ignored. The cover will settle back pretty much in place and could easily be neatened if desired.Wish I had gotten this years ago.

We've been taking our puppy to the park a lot lately for exercise and socialization and since we live in Portland, OR we have a lot of mud and wet attached to the pup when we get back in the car. We tried using towels for a while but the bigger he gets, the more wet and mud there seems to be. The first time I popped him in the back with the new seat cover was awesome! It really helps me feel better about putting the wet and muddy dog in my car and there has been absolutely no leakage through the cover and onto the seats. It was a little difficult to install for me as my headrests in the back are molded to the seat. I had to rig it up to work and it isn't perfect but I was able to get all the straps in place and so far he hasn't been able to pull it up (on the seat)or down (on the back) at all. So far it has been easy to wipe clean once everything is dry on the seat cover. I don't know that I would wash it unless he has an accident on it because it is so easy to clean. My only complaint was the installation difficulty and that's mostly just because there isn't a good option for cars like mine (headrests molded to seats). Otherwise, this is an excellent product. I will try to update my review after several months of use.

We got a new SUV a few months back, and needed some seat protection from our two dogs' nails. In the sedan we used to have, I could tuck a fleece blanket into the seat bench and that was good enough, but with the way the seats were set-up in the new vehicle, there was no way to keep a blanket in place.I looked around at a lot of different seat covers, but kept coming back to this one. The price was reasonable, and it was an actual seat cover, rather than one of those hammock type dog carrriers, which means people can still get in the back without having to take the whole thing down. It also has Velco pockets lined up on the seat where the seat belt buckles are located so you can even buckle a person up!So in terms of the quality of this cover,it's definitely 5 stars. Well built, nice features, etc. I took a star off, though, because I had to do some customizing in order to actually make the seat bottom stay in place. Just took a few extra straps to run underneath the seat, but without those there, the dogs would pull the seat bottom right up within seconds of being in the car.All in all, very happy with the purchase, and now that I've secured it, I know I'll get lots of use out of this item.

I bought this seat cover to protect my leather seats in my Jeep Wrangler and I loooooooove it! I have a pitbull mix (so his paws/nails are pretty large) and this cover has held up great with him jumping all over it, no rips or tears. The piping did come apart on one section, but that was from my dog purposefully ripping it up (he's a little stinker). However there isn't actually any sort of hole/tear in the seat cover from that being ripped apart so I really don't mind. I also ended up getting stuck in a torrential downpour with the top off of my jeep, there was about 2 inches of water covering the whole bottom of the jeep but the seats underneath this seat cover were still bone dry!!So I would say it holds up very well to water :) I've had it for about six months and haven't had any issues with it coming apart or deteriorating as of yet, but I'll have to see how it holds up in the summer time with the sun and heat baking it everyday. The cover is extremely easy to take on and off although the front part of it does slide around, but I think that is because I don't secure it underneath the seat every time I take it on and off. Overall I think it's a great seat cover and I would purchase it again!

I have this seat covering the back seat of my 2014 Mazda6, and I am definitely pleased with how it fits. Obviously the manufacturer is trying to get the cover to fit as many vehicles as possible, so it's by no means a perfect fit. However, I do believe that this cover is significantly better than any of the hammock style seat covers - especially for larger dogs. One of the consistent complaints I read about the cover was that it would shift when a larger dog would get into the car. I found this to be the case as well, but usually I'm able to give it a quick tug and get it back into place after my dog gets in the car. It's a 2-second adjustment, and not something that I mind at all.The major plus for me,and the reason I gave it five starts, is the access points to the seat belts. I have a six-month old that rides in a rear-facing car seat, and thanks to the access flaps I can strap in the car seat base without having to remove the cover. This allows me to keep the cover in place all the time. More than likely I'll keep the seat cover in place as my child gets older, and it will serve double duty by protecting my seats from the dog and from the kiddo!

I’m a professional dog trainer and frequently have four legged clients riding around with me, and if I thought it couldn’t get much worse, I was more than surprised by how much damage my oversized one year old boy could do to my seats as well!! My Kurgo seat & cargo covers are the greatest purchases I’ve made for my vehicle hands down! They look great, the sand matches my Durango’s tan interior well, and they actually get a more polished look after each washing, which is so rare! This standard bench seat cover fits perfectly in my 2011 Dodge Durango Express, and I LOVE that I can easily access my kid’s car seat anchors! Even when food pouches are thrown across the backseat,I can easily wet wipe up the mess & they withstand regular washing (they air dry quickly) like a champ! They are mostly water resistant & I can easily wipe up spills if I’m fast enough, but if the dog is wet, they do eventually take on the moisture & allow the seat to get wet. So, I put a Soggy Doggy mat on the seat which does the trick (picture included).I will never buy or recommend anything but Kurgo covers yo my clients!

Resilient and (mostly) waterproof. This cover is a great fit in my HRV, I just keep it on all the time. I did manage to break the back strap when I forgot it was there and tried to lower one seat. It still fits well in the car and the headrest hooks are firm as ever. The front of the cover drapes over the front the seat, and has a little string button tightener, which is handy if your dog manages to unclip their harness and jumps up and down onto the floor areas. It has saved my seats from muddy paws and long claws. The only issue I have is that one of my dogs is a bit of a car drooler, which means that she salivates non-stop when she's in the car. It wouldn't be a problem except for the seat belt holes. In order to use their harness straps, the seatbelt clicker has to come through the cover. The holes are large enough, but the velcro closures don't seal entirely, so a fair bit of drool can make it through. If that doesn't affect you, or even if it does, this is a lovely cover. I'm still working on figuring out how to block the leakage.

I have a limited edition Hyundai Elantra and this fits great! We have a greyhound that rides in the back of our car and the seats are leather, so we wanted to protect the seats from scratches and dirt. I've had this seat cover for a few months now and am very happy with the purchase. Before we used a blanket to cover the seat and it would always slip off. This cover stays in place, and only needs to be adjusted slightly on the corners of the seats, which become moved when he jumps into the back. The material is of good quality. I've hand vacuumed the cover to get hair off, and have used a scrub brush to remove mud from the cover and it looks brand new(hand clean with cloth or brush, don't put in the washer). When I have people ride in the back all I have to do is remove the cover and the seat's are clean, dirt and hair free. Would definitely recommend this cover to friends and family! Takes two minutes to take on and off, once you've got the hang of it.

This cover has been a life saver. I transport my 50lb dog every day, either to day care or a hike or the park. I've had it for a month and it's doing the job with no signs of wear.Initial installation was easy, although I have a 3 door car so my bench seat is a little odd and not quite a proper fit for a universal fit item. I periodically have to adjust the cover, but it is large enough and keeps well enough in place that my seats are still protected.Because it truly is notpermeable, dried dirt collects and I have to periodically wipe the cover down or vacuum up the dirt, but this is pretty easy with the material and the dirt doesn't get to my seats. Also good if you have a car sick dog or not house (car?)broken.Overall it's a good cover, some may have trouble with the universal fit but I like the other features of the kurgo bench cover (additional pockets, ease of clean up) I plan on keeping it and using it in future cars if it lasts that long!

I have an 80+lb, oversized, highly active Siberian Husky who goes on daily hikes with mud, dirt, grass and other funk clinging to his fur and feet. Since he rides in the vehicle daily, I take the cover out weekly to shake and remove it to wash at most every two weeks; sometimes even more frequently in the summer / rainy season. IT SAVED MY BACKSEAT!!!My 4-star pros:- It's easy to wash - I throw it in my washer on heavy / hot and air dry it on the patio.- It's easy to take in and out- It fits reasonably well - I have an '07 Toyota FJ Cruiser and unless my husky starts boinging around like crazy, the seat cover doesn't move at all (he doesn't tend to do this - he rides really quiet most of the time; he's really good in the vehicle)- For this Price point,I really can't complainMy main con:- I replace this cover every 6-7 months, because of heavy, heavy use and constant washing

This item arrived very quickly and was in excellent, as new condition despite being purchased from the Amazon Warehouse. I like the fact it is easy to install, with no need to remove headrests or move seat in any way. The buckles are plastic snap together and easy to use and the cover does a good job covering the entire seat. I bought it for a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and it fits very well. My one complaint would be the openings for the seatbelts. The holes in the cover don't quite line up and are very small or tight openings, making it extremely difficult buckling the seatbelt into the seat latches. I think it would be a huge drawback using with infant carseats that are removed with much frequency,or for passengers with limited hand use (elderly or disabled people), but other than that, I like the cover very much and recommend it if you are looking for affordable seat protection.

Overall pleased, especially for the price. Fits our mazda Cx7 pretty well. I have a 65# and 30# dogs. Seems durable. Love that the back goes all the way up to the head rest with no straps exposed bc my little guy chewed the last ones off. It is a little noisy when my two guys walk around on it, they slide a little on it compared to the last one which was quilted. I pair it with a soft grippy mat underneath (the kind you put under rugs) so it doesn't slide on the leather or move much when they jump in, I think it would without it. My little does try to chew on the Velcro pockets, so if your dog is a chewer on tabs and such this might not be a good fit for you. I like that it fits over the rounded edges of the seat, but it lacks the anchors that squeeze into the cracks of the seat like most covers, added that would be a great modifier. Getting a second for the hubs car.
