`Scrabble 2009' is an improvement on the previous game for the DS, but still manages to offer the features we liked from the original. This game is easy to set up and you can have a couple of profiles for different family members. It has the original Scrabble game that you can play in `quick game' format, as well as a campaign version that teaches you various Scrabble techniques and various puzzle games to help improve your vocabulary. There are no fancy graphics or bells and whistles, but the basic game is as addictive as the board game and transfers very well to the hand held console format. You can also use the included Collins Scrabble dictionary for when you play against a real life opponent instead of flicking through a book dictionary to track down elusive words. This has simple graphics, sound and game-play, but endless hours of fun. Well worth considering.Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.

Thought I'd write my first ever review about Scrabble 2009. I bought it for my Mum who has been using my mobile phone version constantly since I purchased it and this way she has her own! One thing she loved and this Scrabble doesn't have is the option to play on your own and not against an opponent, which she found very dissapointing. Another issue is that although Mum is a good player she finds it difficult to play against even the most basic of the opponents as they use words only someone who had swallowed a dictionary would know! I know this sounds very negative but she is enjoying it a lot and I would recommend it to Scrabble fans,as I'm typing she has beaten her first opponenet...hurrah!

All the advertisers for this game including Amazon quote;"Play Scrabble against friend, family and online opponents. Play on the same DS through the hot-seat mode or wirelessly wherever you are."We only have one DS so on the basis of this much quoted claim I bought this version of Scrabble. So far I have searched all parts of the game that I can but there seems to be no way to access this 'hot seat mode'. Only one player at a time on one DS it would appear. Apart from that the game is OK and having access to the latest Scrabble dictionary is great, (our traditional dictionary is over 40 years old and very restrictive) but it would have been nice to have the features claimed in the ads.

If you are a fan of scrabble you will really like this. For those who have used nintendo scrabble before there isn't really anything new with this edition but for a newcomer like myself I loved the way it keeps your score for you and saves the hassle of doing the adding up/double word score etc yourself. It does all that for you. You can play virtual opponents but the best feature is the ability to communicate with another nintendo and play a family member or friend without them having to buy a separate scrabble package. You download yours to them for the duration of your game.Very entertaining but it won't revolutionise your life.

I am a huge Scrabble fan so the logical progression was to get the game for my DS lite. Overall I enjoy the game but have a couple of gripes. One is the loading towards the 'opponents' in the game. Maybe I'm just dumb, but after playing this game quite a few times and seeing all but 1 of the opponents get all the good letters and invariably win, it's fairly easy to get discouraged. The second is the not terribly intuitive menu options. Other than that it's all good and I am sticking with the dumbest opponent, who obviously matches my intellect level :) Recommended for Scrabble fans, especially those who like a challenge.

This is a great game,I have also the Scrabble 2007 to which I am hooked. But the new version is great fun as one is playing against more people and therefore it is a different challenge. It is a good game as one can play indefinately with every game a new one, with nothing being repeated over time.If there is one complaint,it is the American spelling, but once one is used to that, and just ignores that and just gets on with the British spelling it all works very well.It is certainly more entertaining than the run of the mill T.V.

This is the great game we all love and know. There are characters to play against. Start with Clovis. I played against the blonde girl first and obviously she absolutely thrashed me. There are different characters who play at different levels which is great. I have played electronic versions of this game before and there is no chance of winning because the opponents use words I have not even heard of so this game is really good.

As someone who has always had a fascination of words, this game is amazing. If like me, you have difficulty with finding someone to play the board game, you can now play to your hearts content with the opponent to match your word skills.Although I have a Scrabble dictionery, this game is a learning device as you pick up new words and ways to fit them into the game. I thoroughly recommend this to all "Scrabblelers" of all ages.

None of my nearest and dearest want to play the conventional boardgame with me, but I have a choice of opponents on my DS and they're all happy to join in! Although the gameboard is quite small, you can easily enlarge the section you're working in.My overall rating would be 5 stars but loses 1 star as there doesn't seem to be a 'back' option if you make a mistake you'd like to correct. Otherwise, a really good buy.

The Scrabble game is good but it uses Muslim words when you play against the computer making it unfair to people who don't know them . For beginners there is ONLY 1 older man you can play against on the computer as the others are too good . There are No skill levels which makes it hard. But it is addictive once you get used to it . It also uses Profanity in Normal Computer Partner Mode . But not in Junior setting .

EXCELLENT Scrabble game to play anywhere, I hope you have a good vocabulary!! It's very intuitive to use and allows "what if" placement of words with score, tiles reshuffle and the glorious Scrabble Dictionary. The only feature my good old Spectrum version had that this is missing is "recommend a move" where it would suggest words, a useful option for beginners and cheats. So only 4 out of 5 stars.

It's scrabble, for the DS. I haven't explored all of it yet but it's fun, friendly and well worth less than £20. I haven't given it five stars because it doesn't appear to have that many variations - but as I said not yet fully explored. Hoping it will have a 'this would be your best move' feature (ie training mode) but not found.

The game has enough opponents to challenge players of all levels. The adventure part of the game could have been better but was a nice add on anyway, hopefully it will be improved for any futher releases. There is a delay when loading on occasions, unless I have a faulty disc. Overall a good game to while away free time.

Bout this for my wife who loves word games. She loves it, especially playing against the DS.. She is not certain that all the words that the game comes up with are bona fide but she obtains great entertainment and pleasure playing.... One of the most rewarding presents I have ever bought for her

Scrabble for the DS is more than just Scrabble. With all the additional features helping you to become a better player it is hard not to keep on playing. It feels you are being trained for an International tournament. If you like scrabble, this is a must have!
