Me and my girlfriend started out playing Scrabble on a cardboard Edition, and soon found out we really enjoyed the game.We upgraded after a while to the Prestige Edition and really loved it because of the extra finesses, like a raised letter grid so the tiles stay in place, the turntable base for easy scanning from all directions and the nice wooden finish of the tiles and the cabinet. All this brought a new level of enjoyment to the game for us, so we decided after a while to upgrade again from our beloved Presitge Edition to this, the Luxury Edition, and we have not regretted it one second!!The cabinet is the same good quality wood finish from the Prestige Edition, but it is much larger and has a lovely drawer to keep all the elements for the game in, a very nice touch, though the drawer insert for the elements could have been done a little better to match the rest of this gorgeous piece. The Ivory tiles are the best tiles we have ever tried in any Scrabble Edition, lovely feel and they look great and simply scream quality! The gameboard in faux leather is a gorgeous sight to behold, and has a very nice and smooth turntable with magnetic locking that we find to be great for scanning from different directions. The raised letter grid is the same as the Presige Edition and the faux leather finish is of high quality, and is not "slippy", so the Ivory tiles stay in place even when using the turntable or being bumped around by kids or pets. The golden tile stands are the best we have ever had in any Scrabble Edition, they are surprisingly heavy, feel very sturdy and are simply gorgeous to look at, and the same can be said about the hourglass sand timer. The most impressive thing though with the Luxury Edition, is the faux leather pouch for tiles, the pouch in the Presige Edition is terrible, and was very quickly replaced with our old and trusty cardboard Scrabble Edition pouch, but the faux leather pouch in the Luxury Edition, sheer and utter class! All this has taken our Scrabble gaming experience to yet another level and we could not be happier. If you enjoy playing Scrabble and would like to upgrade, we would highly recommend spending the extra money for the Luxury Edition over the Prestige Edition, simply because there is such a vast difference in the quality and feel and general higher class of the Luxury Edition. We simply love the Scrabble Luxury Edition and look forward to many, many hours of high quality gaming!!

Small, compact, easy to use timer for Scrabble or other games such as chess where occassionally (or often!) a player wants to think their move through and looses track of time. These delays can drive other players mad.We bought it because we play a lot of 'Rummikub' and tempers can fray. This timer can be triggered at the beginning of your move with a simple light press on the top. A 4-position switch gives Off, 1 or 2 or 3 minutes; every 30 seconds theres a beep and flash; the last 10 seconds count down with a beep+flash every second. The beep and flash are distinct but not intrusive; I would say a well chosen sound level. In practise the flash is easily ignored by the player and is not a distraction.Powered by 2 x AA batteries; our first two batteries are going strong after around 3 hours of timer 'ON' since new. No obvious disaster there.Dimensions 6 cm wide, taper 3-4 cm deep, 7 cm high. Green with red Scrabble logo back and front. Rugged and well constructed.(Durability given four stars because we have only owned and used the timer for almost three months - we cannot say how it will be after say four or five years.)We wish we had been able to find something like this, at this price, years ago. Excellent.

So it's scrabble, but it does come in a tin box rather than a cardboard box, and the letters have a marbly pattern on them too in a quite lovely little bag. The board is still cardboard though. The review asks to comment on thickness, durability and stretch. I would say its about 2 inches thick while in the tin, thinner when it's not. If you stack all the tiles on top of each other you could argue it's taller rather than thicker, but considering semantics, you could regard it as very thick if arranged in such a manner. In terms of durability, it has lasted at least 3 full games, and 2 when the board got thrown, and it still works. No fading of tiles, wearing of board nor rusting of tin has occurred.Unfortunately it does let itself down in terms of stretch. I found neither the tiles or board have any stretch at all, and the durability of the board is very much called into question when stretched. The tin has a bit more flex but is really quite awkward to return to its original shape. Overall, an entertaining game full of some f**king obscene words, with plenty opportunity for causing arguments but absolutely no material elasticity whatsoever.

The Scrabble timer is great little thing at a great price (4.99). My friend bought me this as an early christmas present. We both love scrabble and when playing we were taking too long to make up a word. The Scrabble timer has 3 settings 3 mins, 2 mins and 1 mins. When you set the time for 1 min and press the big red button it beeps (it really isn`t that loud to disturb people at night) and flashes to let you know countdown has begun when it reaches 30 secs it will beep and flashes again then when it reaches 10 secs it will beep and flashes every sec. Believe me it makes you panic and you`re almost pulling out your hair when you can`t think of a word then you have to miss your turn. The Scrabble timer really does keep you alert it makes things quicker and more interesting. Timer needs 2 AA batteries and you have to unscrew a tiny screw I found this to be no problem at all. Comes with instructions leaflet.

What a difference this little thing makes to the usual `nodding off between turns' tedium of our Rumikubb sessions. With a choice of one, two or three minutes, the timer beeps and flashes once when activated (by pressing the top), flashes every ten seconds, beeps again at each thirty second interval then counts down the last ten seconds. Pressing the top again resets the timer. The beeping is not intrusive or too loud but it does really motivate some deep thinkers to get on with it. The timer seems to be fairly robust and the silly little screw securing the battery compartment got thrown away so that was only a very minor niggle. The timer does its job very well, doesn't cost much and we got to bed an hour earlier than after our usual marathon sessions. It is an all round excellent bit of kit and an end to board game boredom - hoorah!

This version of the great word game is very well presented. The box is sumptuous and the design of both it and the inner detail (rear of rules card, panel on rear of board) are in keeping with the whole 1960s effect. The board is a four-fold style and the playing side is finished in really nice retro colours. You may have read other reviews which criticise the variance in letter tile sizes, this is a non-issue (the variance is quite small) unless you're so competetive that you memorise the smaller ones for advantage, at which point maybe you should question your motivation for playing the game :) The tiles are lovely, in a pale wood, light in weight and with plenty of space on the rack for your seven letters. The only downside? No score pad & pencil. Looking forward to some great family tournaments this Christmas.

This scrabble timer is a very useful accessory, allowing you to choose the time limit from 3 mins,2 mins and 1 minute. It adds to the pressure of the game, and significantly reduces the boredom. Gone are the days when we had to wait in desperation and frustration for our turn to begin!! However, it is not as enjoyable when your the one being pressurised to create a word in time!!There are also frequent warnings in the form of red light flashes, and slightly shorter beeps. It is best to not enforce the 'go before the final beep' rule too strictly, be lenient, and allow them an extra 15 seconds, so they still take their turn almost immediately afterwards.Overall, a truly must-have product at a very reasonable price. No more rows or arguments over the timing procedures: wonderful!!

My Scrabble board is over 20 years old, but in excellent condition. As recommended by other reviewers I measured the board before ordering. It fits perfectly and makes playing the game much more enjoyable. Being able to turn the board to see the words properly is brilliant, I can get bored trying to lean and move the board. My 7 year old grand-daughter has started to play the adult version of Scrabble, but, bless her, tends to move the tiles, making a word etc. This turntable is very good, folds easily to store and is excellent value. I didn't know this existed until I looked for an up to date word checker. Highly recommended, especially for impatient players!

This is great as it means our Scrabble games move along much faster now and everyone has a time limit. We generally have it set to 3 minutes per person. If you can't go in that time - you miss a go and everyone else remains awake! Definitely worth having if you are regular Scrabble players. You can also set it to 2 minutes (if in a hurry but it puts the pressure on), or even 1 minute - but we are definitely not at the level of being able to play well with just one minute to take a turn.We also have a Scrabble dictionary which is definitely worth having as well. You'd be amazed at the number of words out there that you didn't even know existed....

Exactly what I was looking for. No issues, all the tiles are uniform and the presentation is fab, great quality. This set has saved me the headache of trying to source second hand vintage pieces for my plans to turn this into a wall mounted magnetic version for all the family to play. Feel a bit bad really, as it is such a beautifully presented game!If you're apprehensive after reading other reviews, don't forget you can return, thanks to Amazon's excellent customer services! I certainly will not be doing this ?

What a delight to find the Scrabble board turntable on Amazon. It arrived in good time for us to take on holiday and we used it well. Completely functional in fitting the board so it can be turned around easily for each player - I did my homework by first reading other reviews and carefully measuring the board prior to placing the order. The packaging was fun as it arrived in a large impressive-looking box - now I know what to send to relatives direct for gifts:) Highly recommended.

To put people at ease who may have read other less favourable reviews of Scrabble prestige edition, the game I received had a perfectly aligned grid and no glue marks at all. Maybe a little pricey, but ticks all the boxes for useful scrabble features - rotating board, grid to hold pieces in place, and retains much of the classic look of the original (albeit with dark wood). Probably one of the better premium versions out there, certainly the only one still at an affordable price.

The board and pieces are slightly smaller than standard. Board seems absolutely fine, no warp, lies perfectly flat. Wooden pieces are slightly different sizes, but not enough for me to worry about and not enough to identify any particular piece. The letters and scores are burned into the pieces so it's not just black ink that will rub off. Wooden box it comes in seems ok for the price, no sharp corners, outer surface is varnished. Everything fits in ok. Overall pleased with it.

Excellent value,we use the pads until they are full and then look through them at a later date. We have score pads going back many years (yes I know - sad!!!!!)but it really is good seeing how the kids, friends and ourselves have improved over the years. Some of the comments on the sheets are unprintable as we have all had games when all you get is vowels or consanants.A real bit of family history and beautifully bound for future posterity.Charlie and Linda

Bought this as a wedding present - it's a very nice-looking game and the wooden surround and tile holders make it look very stylish although I was disappointed to find no brass plaque, as promised on the manufacturer's description - apparantly this is mistake on the Amazon page I like the way the tiles don't move around on the board, would be nice if the tile holders had edges too so the tiles didn't slide out, but still a lovely, if very expensive, product
