Nothing like a bit of eighties childhood nostalgia, and there aren't many more iconic objects from my childhood than the Rubik's cube. Having seen this making a bit of a comeback I decided to buy one for my son for a present.I was glad to see they haven't messed with the classic design (even though this has spawned a million and one other Rubik's puzzles and other imitators), and it's just as frustrating as I remember it! Even more so in fact, as I now can't remember even the most basic steps for how to solve it! I was also reminded of my age (and my flagging brain cells) by my son who, after five minutes spend on Google, was then able to restore the cube to it's starting position in a matter of minutes.I didn't have any problems like some reviewers seem to be describing regarding non-authentic products. The cube I received was Rubik's branded as pictured on the item description. It also feels very well put together, and in fact a lot smoother in the twisting-turning action than I remember my original cube being.A great blast from the past, if not quite as much fun as I remember it. Was great to introduce my boy to something from the old days though, and see him apparently having a lot more fun than I was!

Make sure you buy an official Rubik's Cube and you won't be disappointed. I originally shelled out on a cheapo £2.49 imitation off that popular online auction site and it literally exploded into pieces once I twisted it and it got a little stuck on a side. After that incident, I decided to buy an official one from Amazon and it is great. Feel is much more sturdy and I have randomised and completed it around 10 times now without any issues. Being a more modern version, there are no stickers which make up the colours. It is coloured plastic instead which makes it much more durable and less likely to lose a colour when the adhesive on the old school stickers go on the old version I had as a kid.It comes with a little black plastic triangle stand,in case you want to store it on a little "holder" on one of its corner edges. Take it or leave it.Overall, this is a great product, easy smooth twisting and brings back the nostalgia of using one as a paperweight as a kid. Now, it's an actual puzzle that can be solved. Good brainteaser.

Uhh... yeah. So it has colours and it works and stuff. Plus it's a topographical wonder of the modern age. Further to that it makes an adequate miscellany for any empty shelves you have lying around. Oh, and if you (or the person you are buying it as a present for) can actually solve it then it'll do as a party trick for the repertoire. One thing, google a guide for solving it before you buy the fancy block. click on a few links, and if everything is gobbledegook then consider whether this isn't a waste of money. If you can cope with the algorithms (fancy term re. rote learning several patterns) then you'll be just dandy with this. Seriously, it isn't hard you just need to memorise a few patterns. It's not like you need super einstein magic abilities to divine how to solve the damn thing. Let other people do that for their fancy 12 second solution videos. Just learn the pattern. Up, right, up, backwards-right, up, right, up, up, backwards-right. Blah blah blah. When you're actually holding it then it's just muscle memory.

I bought this as a present for my Dad, and he keeps going back to it, even though he's only managed to do one side so far. I saw some reviews here which suggested the cube might be fake or come in different packaging. The cube I received came in the packaging shown in the item's photo and I believe it to be genuine. However if you get it off the Marketplace rather than sold directly by Amazon, you might run the risk of getting a knockoff. It has coloured tiles set into each cube piece, which is a better idea than the stickers that used to be used on these cubes, however a couple of the tiles had small plastic bits sticking up at the corners which I had to take off very carefully with a penknife. That said, the cube looks and feels sturdy and it has a nice turning action – it feels just as it should do. The triangular stand you can place the cube on when not in use is a nice touch. Despite the delicate operation I had to do on two of the tiles, I can't bring myself to mark it down from a justly deserved 5 stars.

Bought for nostalgia as I never competed my original one in 1982. At least, not without taking off the stickers first.Firstly, this is the genuine article, branded appropriately and boxed as the image shows. There are differences from my 1982 cube though:1. No stickers, this is a no-cheat cube.2. This cube seems to move more freely than my original. Probably because the focus these days is on how fast you can solve it, rather than whether you can solve it in the first place.3. The build quality doesn't seem as great - but as this is the genuine article, this is probably the best version available. There are cheap copies for sale, however I'd advise to buy this over the others as if you plan on going onto YouTube to find one of the various solutions,it helps to have the same colours in the same order as the original to follow the solution guides more easily. And in case you're wondering - Yes I can, but not quickly!

I learnt how to do them in the 80's when they first came out and I was 9 years old at the time. Funnily enough the questions say for 10 year old or older but I was taught to do it by a 7 year old. In the 80's I could never afford an original Rubik but had one of the cheap immitations however, although I can no longer complete it in under a minute like when a youngster this cube moves fluently enough for it to be enjoyable. One of the reviews states fell apart in a few minutes and the original Rubiks are made not to come apart so was the person unlucky or did they try to take it apart? Always buy from Amazon as there others aren't always the original Rubik.I love the Rubik and mine is sittinghere in spot-checkers as we speak and a few days ago I went into my local Hawkins Bizarre and done their Rubik light for them. Thanks to the Hungarian inventor, I have had almost 40 years of fun from it!

When my kids were younger( 20 years ago) they all had a Rubin cube and they loved them. Yes they were frustrated by it on occasions but with practice they could do them quite quickly. If you’ve never had a Rubin cube they work quite simply. The cube rotates at every level meaning you can mix up the colours and then try and get the colours back to blocks again. This original Rubin cube rotates easily and is a good size in your hand. When my kids were younger I used to only mix them a bit so they stood a chance of fixing it quickly then as they got better I mixed them on every level. It’s a great time filler and as our original cubes had long since gone I sent them all a new one to entertain them during lockdown. They were all thrilled. I would say these are suitable from age seven upwards to adults. A great little puzzle that’s stood the test of time.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. My husband really enjoys puzzles and head scratches so this seems like a perfect gift to get him for Christmas as part of his presents. The quality is still good and it was good to get the genuine deal. I know there are some cheaper ones out there where the stickers can be peeled off allowing the person to cheat but this does not have that function. The coloured sections are part of a cube meaning they cannot be removed and therefore you actually have to use your head to work it out. He’s probably had it over two years now and we have still only completed one side and the rest of the time it sits on its lovely little stand included but he has yet to completely master it.That being said it’s a fab little gift,it’s a well-known product and it still looks and feels the part.

I was going to write a low star review based on the fact that my genuine Rubiks Cube was only used once for a short time before it came apart and I had to put it together. It was fragile and seemed useless. After I tried to play it again and it again fell into pieces, I worked out how to remove a tile that held the screw in place. I put it back together and this time tightened the screw. I now have a good quality working item and so far have had no more issues. To be fair, I should not have had to fix a brand new cube in the first place and I've given 4 stars to reflect this. Fixing it was easy to do and I hope that after putting it back together 3 times with 3 uses that it's now sorted out for good.It seems sturdy enough now. It has tiles not stickers and is a genuine Rubik's cube in official packaging..

Bought this for my 7yr old son as he decided he wanted one, he was delighted and was eager to play however once he jumbled it up he thought it was broken and gave it to me to fix LOL. I used to have one back in the day and totally forgot how addictive these things are. These were the fidget cube of my day back in the 80's and I remember the feeling of accomplishment when I completed it then and was delighted to have another go LOL.It's well made and spins with ease so once you get going it's easy to let your mind wonder as it can be very therapeutic. Definitely worth the price to keep the kids occupied for a good while, (many solutions available via "internet" so don't panic if you get stuck).I would recommend to others as it never gets boring or if you want to recapture your 80's LOL

*caveat: make sure you buy directly from Amazon and not one of the other third party suppliers*. I've bought two of these and have absolutely no problem with them. Comes in the box, as seen in the picture. The cubes do not have stickers on them - they are solid plastic colours. I've played with mine lots and it seems very robust. If you're looking to learn how to solve it, I'd recommend using the 'petrus method'. I taught myself relatively quickly using this method and can now solve it off the top of my head (albeit rather slowly). The method consists of seven steps - 1) Build a 2x2x2 corner; 2) extend the 2x2x2 into a 2x2x3; 3) solve the 'bad edges'; 4) complete two layers; 5) position the corners; 6)twist the corners; and 7) position the edges.... and that's how you solve it!

I bought an original, genuine 3x3 Rubik's cube in 2013 and the quality of this 2013 authentic cube was appalling. It was flimsy and was difficult to rotate the layers; even when they were perfectly aligned, they constantly stuck and jammed. The stickers started to peel away after a year or so. This genuine cube was an embarrassment to the manufacturer and I am sure to Erno Rubik, too. I hated it.I have just bought this Rubik's cube and the quality is completely different. It feels strong and the layers glide and rotate smoothly. There are no stickers. Instead, there are inset coloured squares, which are unlikely to come away. This iteration of the cube is a pleasure to use. I recommend it.

I bought it for my seven yr old grandson and as you can imagine it’s become a contest with his three uncles and dad who will solve it first.I bought this for him because I remeber the fun we had with them. But this one the nine individual squares are very loose.Which is good wen your a pro but for a seven year old it makes it harder as the squares spin to quick and he can not follow the pattern,But I must say other than this little glitch we love it.The Rubicks cube is one of the funnest puzzles ever and has not lost its appeal .. The only reason I’ve not put 100 per cent is just because of glitch with speed I think even babies can play with them ..

A lot of reviews are complaining that their cube was of poor quality and only came in a plastic bag. Be very careful, there are a lot of "alternative suppliers" listed under this product, if you want an official cube then make sure Amazon is the supplier and not one of the others as it would appear they are purchasing cheap Chinese copies that are of low quality and listing them under this entry. My cube came in the box as pictured. My only disappointment with the product is that the official Rubik page says that their cubes now have coloured plastic squares rather than stickers and my cube came with stickers so it looks like Amazon are still clearing out old stock.

Bought this for my sister who used to be an expert at solving the cube when they first appeared on the market and then again after the 25th anniversary. After watching Jordan on the Apprentice failing to live up to his boast of being able to solve the cube in under 3 minutes, bought a new one for my sister and enjoy watching her struggle to regain her old form. She can't quite solve it under 3 minutes yet, but is pretty close! Practice does make perfect. The cube arrived in good time, but although the solution was enclosed as stated by the seller, he failed to mention that it was in Chinese ....
