Quick delivery from Amazon as usual, and secure and sturdy packaging.I normally buy a new scrabble set ever couple of years, mainly because the printing on the letter tiles starts to fade. That, and the fact that the board starts to fall apart along the length of the spine, as repeated opening and closing of the board eventually takes its toll on the cardboard. I play a lot of Scrabble, so considering the amount of pleasure I get from the set, the price is really very reasonable. This latest version of the set seems to be a minor upgrade on the previous ones. The tiles are marginally thicker and slightly chunkier all round, without any real weight penalty, so this is a welcome improvement. The quality of the printing on these tiles also seems to have improved. Of course, it's impossible to tell at this early stage if the printing will wear off any quicker or not; only time will tell. The board, cloth bag and tile racks are all pretty much the same as before, so no real change there. But it's really worth saying how much pleasure this set can bring, considering the trivial asking price. It's a steal. But there is certainly a market out there for a mid-priced better-made Scrabble set. Someone should take note of this. It would be a sure-fire best seller.I hope this brief review is useful.

I was quite keen to buy the deluxe version of scrabble however the Amazon reviews completely put me off and instead I bought the standard version. The box came wrapped in cellophane and was well packaged so no damaged corners etc.The board is very good, it isn't flimsy or thin, it's quite solid and where the crease is in no way affects the enjoyment of the game. The lettered tiles are great, there is no chance or scratching the print off whatsoever. The 4 tile holders are perfectly satisfactory as well, made of a light plastic but by no means breakable or bendable.A bag is also included for you to keep all the letters in,it does have a print on it of the scrabble logo which i can see chipping/scratching away over time but it's a non issue. One thing I would love to see introduced is a lego like snap in place tile feature, I am aware that the deluxe version features this but it also has a lot of other things that I have no interest in.I thing a magnet effect would completely cheapen the board game but a feature that kept my tiles in place without changing the board game in any other way would be well appreciated.Otherwise, it's a brilliant item!

Hi I do love the colour of the box and the play with the words on the front of the box, the pictures on the back are very clear of what you have to do and that it is a great family game. I do like that the instructions were on the top of the game and they were very clear and easy to understand. Then we opened the board, the colour really stood out for me and it is great that the scores for each letter is on the bottom right corner, next the bag, carrying on the colour, nice size, loads of room to shake and mix up them letters. then out came the letter stands, which were very solid and green, what a great colour. Now on to the letters,to me it could have done with a different font on them, and they looked cheap, compared to everything else. but apart from that it is still a wonderful game to play with your family, help with spelling and learning new words and spending time with family.

We played Scrabble together as a family for the first time. I'd played as a child but not played again for years but as soon as I saw the little letter tiles it all came flooding back to me. And what great fun it was too! We had some lively discussions about whether words were spelt right and whether they were allowed in the rules. It was great to see my boys playing a game which also made them think about their spelling rules and vocabulary. The highlight was being able to use the Z tile, although we couldn't quite manage to get to the extra points square too. The Q unfortunately didn't make it to the board! This is a game that all ages can join together and play. We'll definitely be getting it out at Christmas time to play with three generations. This is a classic game and it's appeal lasts forever. If you haven't played for a while, give it a try! You won't be disappointed.

Hi,Main reason for adding my review was to counteract the negative older reviews (2017/2018) when either there was an issue with the quality of this product or the negative reviews have been written by bots trying to steer buyers towards higher priced alternatives.I've purchased this product in Dec 2020 and I can confirm that there is nothing wrong with it. We have played it on and off for the last 2 months, and the product is still good as new. Good quality materials (board, pieces, bag) - it's certainly no frills, but it will get the job done. The paper manual is a bit flimsy and there is no dictionary, but we get our info via smartphone apps anyway (official scrabble dict).I recommend this product for anyone willing to give the game of Scrabble a go.

Scrabble used to be our family's favourite game when I was small, So receiving it was a fabulous surprise. Even though the packaging is different to what i remember it's still the same game inside. It is a great way to spend quality time together on a Sunday after dinner and fun for everyone! it is for 2-4 players and you can easily spend 2 hours per game depending on the speed of the player to think of a word to fit, or arguing over what's not a word, We found it great fun for the older children and ourselves but the younger ones found it a little more difficult, though it did help them with spelling and learning new words and they still had great fun playing it.Overall a great family favourite that you never get bored of playing over and over again.

Scrabble is a word game in which two to four players score points by forming words from individual lettered tiles on a game board marked with a 15×15 grid. The words are formed across and down in crossword fashion and must appear in a standard dictionary. Specified reference works (e.g., the Official Club and Tournament Word List, the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary) provide a list of permissible words. The name Scrabble is a trademark of Hasbro, Inc. in the United States and Canada; elsewhere, it is trademarked by Mattel. The game is sold in 121 countries and there are 29 different language versions. Approximately 150 million sets have been sold worldwide, and sets are found in roughly one-third of American homes.

Who hasn’t played scrabble! Well I haven’t played it in probably 20years! So was excited to dive into every Christmas night of my childhood with my own family, and thankfully I wasn’t disappointed it’s as competitive, challenging and fun as I remember. We played with our eldest (11yrs) and I’ll be honest he wasn’t excited until we got started and he really enjoyed it! It’s fantastic at challenging and expanding your knowledge of the English language so perfect for my son. He’s already asking for a rematch so he can kick my butt this time . I think it’s safe to say that even my great grandchildren will be playing scrabble. it’s truly a timeless classic for all the family.

My daughter was thrilled with this house and secretly i couldnt wait to put it together and play. Comes with lots of accesories and opening/moving features which kept suprising my daughter as she discovered them. The door on the lift and the backs of the sunbeds have fallen off a few times when moving but do clip back on very easily and as a whole is robust enough to withstand my 2 year old son playing with it (he loves it). This house also folds up which means i can put it to one side if its not being played with and saves on having to have a permanant large space to keep it like with most dolls houses. We would deffinately recommend this house.

I arrived at Argos 8.0 am to pick up the christmas present. Not open until 8.30, the staff assured me that the car park notices limiting a wait to 30 minutes would not be enforced on me on this occasion. 30 minutes would not be enough time to browse the catalogue if I was unsure what to buy on a different occasion. When open, the staff were helpful and the item was available within about 2 minutes. The Scrabble game was a great success and we played it over the Christmas holiday. This basic board did not have the luxury of the revolving stand, and it would be nice to have this despite the extra cost of the luxury version.

It seems odd that Argos would invite me to review Scrabble, a game that was invented in the early '30s and now has international competitions in its own right. This tends to speak volumes - it was a good game and still is. My opinion is superfluous. The new rule for 2010 though about allowing proper nouns is more contentious. Scrabble 'isn't broke so why fix it'? Sounds like a marketing manager with too much time on his hands trying to make a name for him (her?) self. What next, txt spk? No vowels required! Leave it alone Mattel, and stop the price rises!

Having read some worrying previous reviews (bent boards etc), I went ahead and ordered this anyway. Luckily, mine turned out perfect! A solid board which stays flat and good pieces which don't feel cheaply made. I've spent many a happy hour playing Scrabble at home. There are no scoring boards in mine (I've had sets before with 'slider' scoreboards), although a pen and paper do just as well :)Only, I wish Mattel would make some (affordable) wooden Scrabble sets like the original ones until the plastic ones - they were such a pleasure to play with!!

The box contains a colourful board that folds in half to pack away, an instruction leaflet, 4 plastic letter tile holders and all the tiles in a little draw string bag. It has cardboard inserts to keep everything in place inside. You just need to add a pencil and paper for keeping score ( or use your phone ) I bought the family friendly scrabble dictionary too which is a must to keep the game fair if you don’t already have one. Believe me...people get very competitive! It will stop any arguments! If the word is not in the book...sorry for you! Haha.

For the price, a bargain for a gaime that can educate, stimulate and be downright competitive. Bought for the family, and with an 8y-o keen to build words playing the game; also the scoring can help sharpening up maths, and learning about new words. Whether you play different 'house rules' for challenging or looking up words, it can certinly help broaden the mind. The set is not up there with the older versions with the nice tiles and wooden tile holders, though is certainly a good set considering the price, and length of use the set will get.

For some reason the seller didn’t package the item properly and the item arrived with just the clear wrapping and ended up damaged (see pic - just above the “A”). Driver left board game on show behind the bin, luckily they took a pic for me so I had to rush home and bring it inside. The game itself is everything I remember from classic scrabble with some slight updates (the tile counter on the board is a nice addition). The board is NOT flimsy at all, everything is great quality from the bag for the tiles to the tiles itself.
