I have been playing ICC since 1999 and the first thing I have to say is that the game has changed disappointingly little in the intervening 11 years. The players still all look exactly the same when batting, although distinctive players such as Panesar and Sidebottom have been customised and are recognisable when bowling. It's a pity there is no way of making them into individuals, shorter, taller, thinner, fatter, different hair styles & colours (there are a few but they are preset & no way of changing them). You can coach your players to improve their batting or bowling, though unless they are under 27 years old it takes forever to actually take effect and sometimes it never does. There is no way of stopping your batsmen taking what are obviously suicidal runs and this always seems to happen when just getting a good partnership under way chasing a big total - after 11 years I would have hoped that the makers might have inserted a control key system here & there such as N for no & Y for yes when deciding on running options. There are 8 aggression settings for batsmen and six for bowlers and these work pretty well although your batsman needs to be in good form and well settled to last long on anything set above 5 aggression. My main moan about this game is that often you get the distinct feeling that the result of each match is decided before a ball is bowled and that everything that happens thereafter is aiming at achieving that pre-set result. The makers have inserted some curious things into the game. You have to be really cautious with any batsman if he reaches 39 because the number of times they get out on that score is amazing. Also any batsman in the forties is vulnerable and especially so if a break in the game is approaching. The makers call this "fatigue factor" but it's way overdone. In limited over matches, the ball after a wide is usually a dotball and if you push up your batsman's aggression rating to try and counter this, he will often be out. There are lots of little annoying things like this set into the matchplay and which you will get to know about and try to counter. There is a window at the start of each season where you get to renew or cancel your current players contracts and sign any players out of contract with other counties; why it's not made possible to sign a replacement for an injured player during the season, I don't know. If you don't use all the money available to sign new players during the contract window session, then it doesn't get carried over to the next season; it just disappears into thin air. Curious and I am no game designer but surely so easy to change!Having said all that, this is still a very good cricket management game; the best currently available by far. It doesn't change much each year; the makers only update the statistics basically. And you are creating your own statistics anyway, so don't buy this game every year. Once every 3 or 4 years is plenty often enough. This could be a great game if the designer would just spend some money on it. When you consider how much football management games have improved over the last decade, ICC has practically stood still. It really hasn't changed that much since 1999. Cricket is such a "cool" game nowadays too; the tests and ODI's are sold out and lots more young people attend the matches. Come on Chris & Andy at Childish Things (the game designers), make this into the great cricket management game we have been waiting years for.

I've had this for three years now and i bought it wanting a fix of a cricket managers game, this allows you to take control of your desired side and lead them to glory. I've had this game so long that i got my Surrey cricket team up to 2014, where they dominated nearly every league. The graphics are much improved on this than other models, and the gameplay is certainly realistic. You can get players getting high scores and then crumbling to low scores, this seems the pattern in my game. The innings scores are realistic and if you think it's too high then it's your terrible bowling attack. A tip i find that worked was swapping the bowlerss around after only a handfull of overs which means thebatsmen cannot become settled on one bowler.Batting performances can very as you will need in-form batsmen to get a quality score, yet it is better to have a out-of-form decent batmen than a in-form youth. On the basis of youth you can change their name and manage their progression through the ranks, this can be helped by the training aspects which let you improve the bowling or batting areas of the player. It is recomended that you give some of your youth first class and one day games to see if they are better at any of good at both. Trust me a good player in one-day may not be that good in first class.A great cheap game, would buy for this price. If you get into it you can be hooked. 4/5 on enjoyment (when goes correctly), 5/5 overall

Wouldnt disagree with what the previous reviewers have written here. It's a simple game, as you click your way through a domestic or international cricket match, but is strangely engrossing.Scores are mostly realistic, with excessively high or low innings a rarity. Graphics much improved from previous versions. You can choose training for players (technique training or net practice), allocate physio sessions, promote youth players and prepare pitch types. There's a few in-game options (which are enough, in my opinion, although some may prefer more sophisticated control of what happens during the match), such as batsman aggression, field settings, batsman shield a tail ender from the strike, attack one bowler more than the other etc. There is also a wealth of stats, useful when deciding which players to keep in your county squad, which youth players to offer contracts to, and whether some precocious talent is worthy of an international call up.If you want a really in depth sports management, go for Championship Manager etc. This game is much less sophisticated than that, but it really passes the time (and probably about 1/1000th of the budget). Good game, and an improvement on previous versions.

A simple cricket management simulator, light on memory usage and heavy on playability. Good database of players to select from and, best of all, different every time you start. Counties, Internationals, 20/20; whatever your preference it's there to enjoy en masse. Some repetetiveness as you get on in the game, but that aside it's by far the best cricket management game on the market. Worth every penny if you love the sport. If you don't like cricket, or if you don't understand bowling and batting techniques and styles then this probably isn't the game for you - you won't enjoy losing!

I have played earlier versions of this game and the franchise has clearly moved on since these earlier versions. I would recommend this game to a cricket nut, like myself. One thing i would say is that the player development mechanic is a little fiddly and takes time to get used too. Overall a good game

I had the 2006 version of this game and this is better, with rather better graphics and a few minor improvements, though gameplay itself is very similar to that previous version.

The game is fun and similar to previous versions. I was disappointed to find that you can't manage an IPL team but other than that very good.
