There is only one reason you would buy this over any other similar item and that's the One+ battery system which, may not be the trendiest or have the most professional box tick, but it is two things. Massive in scope of tools and surprisingly good for the money.Bottom line is that you are looking at this because you are in the One+ system and already have the batteries. So, as in other more recent Ryobi offerings this is a well made cordless tool. I have some of their stuff going back 12 years now, all of which have been well battered during my house renovation. They are all still going strong despite the fact that the later tools are far better made. In a nutshell I know from personal experience that unless you are unlucky, this tool will last a long time and there's little to be gained buying more expensive tools from the likes of Makita. Yes, ultimately they may be a little higher quality, but Ryobi will still work in ten years time and the battery pack still fit unlike many manufacturers. In use this does exactly what I want for a detail sander. Great for finishing work and getting into corners where needed. Being cordless you have the massive benefit of no blasted power cable getting in the way. With a decent battery - I use 5Ahr ones - you will get well bored before it runs out so no fears about not getting the job done. Now, I do note that some people say the battery is stiff to remove and I would say it is a tad stiffer than my drills. However this is a sander and as such is subject to long periods of high vibration which, will tend to loosen off anything it can and shake battery terminals. My gut feeling is that a more positive lock was actually done on purpose to avoid damage or sparking on the contacts. You get a few sanding sheets in the box - good - but thereafter I just buy no-name stuff off Amazon. No way will I pay for brand name stuff which, is the same just twice the price.Overall another cracking Ryobi tool.

First thing Quality of packaging was great amazing quality nice clean crisp colourful packaging package in well. Plus Amazon packaging was great to and 100% ♻️ recyclable. Arrived safely and in good condition and great time. Product is great very very easy to use , colours are cool and I love working with them have a few different ones now. Would give them 5 stars all day long. Only had my first one brake after a lot of work and couldn't find any faults with it at all . Super for DIY...semi pro to .......the.....professional s. Cost - I have to brake this down...ok the item is still great quality the price is fine up to a point, but with this type of tool you have to remember that you still need to buy a battery and charger if you don't have any more of the ryobi set, and the power tools need high Ah (amp hour) batteries which will cost as a first buy. However once you own one or two 4 or 5 Ah batteries and one or more tools you use all plus one set with the same batteries and charger. The cost will balance out. I do think that the body of the tools cost could be quite a bit cheaper but I happy to pay to get the full quality and a tool that will do what I need it to do. I don't want to buy cheaper and loose on quality and performance and money later on. Ryobi, are great tools ? .p.s remember to buy your battery....guy's and a charger .Hope this helps.

I finally got to use this for the first time this week as i have just had the downstairs WC replaced so needs new built in cupboard and a full redecoration. i found this generally lightweight to use, though a little on the wide side for grip and i have reasonable large hands, so others might find this a little to big to work with. i was happy with the work it did and i was using P60 pads - so reasonable coarse. i found two bug bears that i am not happy with, the first was the battery pack [not supplied as this was a battery free version], but both of my Ryobi batteries are a very tight fit into this unit that particularly makes the battery removal very difficult indeed, and a strong grip is needed to work it free. The second is that as a direct result if this it becomes all too easy whilst fighting with the battery to inadvertently press the on switch so i end up sanding the palms of my hand. if it was not for those two issues i would be very very happy indeed with this product.

Great value addition to any Ryobi ONE+ kit.Having already used it a few times for short periods I was always impressed. I recently used it to smooth and round off the edges of around 85 cuts of timber and it did exactly what it was intended for, effortlessly and with no faults to report. My only annoyance is that I find the off switch a little too easy to accidentally knock. You tend to only do it a few times before you remember but it can be annoying when you're midway through sanding and it suddenly switches off. The grip can be quite uncomfortable to hold if you have relatively small hands so I tend to hold it with both hands if sanding a large piece for an extended period of time - one hand on the top and another on the front. This only adds to the accidental switch offs however! Not sure how it would stand up to professional daily use but for a DIYer it's ideal.

Was looking for a nice small handheld battery operated sander and reviewed many before making final decision, the main factor was that I already have a few Ryobi tools and am extremely pleased with them and their performance. Having the tools being able to use the same battery was a massive bonus, already had a spare battery so no need to purchase another. I did read that some users had issues loading and unloading the battery, yes it is a little tight but fits perfect, I have no issues in that area...the sander is extremely easy to use, with a push of a button it is on or off, the sanddisks are easy to put on and take off,the sander fits snuggly in my hand and has been doing a great job..slowly but surely all my power tools will be Ryobi which pleases my much. Great product at a reasonable price and I am loving it!

This sander is fine for most DIY occasional use, but I don`t think a professional would rate too highly.I`m happy enough with it as I use it for light sanding. One big minus point, and it`s been mentioned by others on here, the battery is so difficult to remove from the body. which I don`t understand. I have other Ryobi ONE+ tools and they are so easy to replace and swap batteries. That`s the reason I went for this model in the first place. I had to use a screwdriver to ease the battery off. That is not good.

Great item, i have trouble with grip so once this is flat i can move around with ease and it doesnt weigh alot. Ive been using it for doing up my old pine funiture BUT ive had great difficulty in getting the sanding sheets, i only use the p60 grit as i need a good key for the paint, you can only purchase a multi pack of assorted sheets at £10 odd a pack. I cant find any none ryobi sheets to fit as the holes are all in the wrong place making the device clog up with dust and overheat

Don’t under-estimate the sheer power of this tool, a standard battery lasted me an easy total of 40 mins sanding time.It comes with a few sample sanding pads.Recommend:Keep a sample of one of the sanding pads to match up with an after-market pad, as they are not easy to work out. It’s a shame it didn’t have a detailed sander (the tip pulling out for finer detail) but it’s not essential. It does attach to an hover but to be fair it doesn’t blow it everywhere

As described very good for small jobs. I used it for sanding skirting boards before painting. Some find removing the battery difficult. I agree it is difficult. I found that a smear of WD40 on the insert section made things a lot easier. I must stress this should only be a very light application of WD40 but a much better option than using a screw driver to lever out the battery. Im sure the manufacturer would not recommend WD40 - because of excessive use.

I bought this as I was looking for a 'one battery fits all' solution and the Ryobi tools got pretty good reviews for a user like me (i.e. not a pro, someone who does a bit... Fairly infrequently) and this, plus other tools I bought, have been great. Really easy to use and the battery system is so easy and flexible. The sander itself wasn't quite up to the job I bought it for, but it is still very useful and good for smaller jobs.

Following some extensive renovation work on the house we have some major decorating to undertake. Lots of sanding doorframes and skirting boards - already had a couple of sanders, but the mechanism for holding the sanding papers in place is pretty useless.Already have some Ryobi ONE+ tools so it seemed sensible to get a compatible sander - this fits the bill perfectly. Easy to use and interchange the papers - no problems so far.

Handy little sandy especially if u already own another ryobi tool & battery. Good for sanding back odd jobs but doubt it would surfice for bigger more demanding tasks. Battery life is good and holds up well for me. Only issue I have is the battery is a very tight fit to get out and can be tough. Also I occasionally catch the off switch when sanding. Otherwise great little sandy for what I need it for.

Part of the Ryobi One+ series. Good enough for small detail sanding, and on the plus side, you can use the same batteries for other tools in the Ryobi cordless range. The only down side is the position of the on/off switch, which can be a pain. If you've got big clumsy hands you may find yourself turning it off whilst sanding. Other than that I have no problems with particular sander at the price.

I needed a small sander to renovate some shutters and as I already have the battery and charger for Ryoni one plus this was an obvious choice. The Velcro works well and the sandpaper stays in place well but I don’t like the way the paper is perforated so it can also be used on their multi tool - it means there is a weak point where the paper can separate and lift up in the middle.

Good sander at a great price, delivered the very next day, so thanks for that. However, as other reviewers have stated, the battery is fiddly to remove. I don’t have to prise it out, but the battery has to be rocked from side to side to release it, so not an insurmountable problem, but a bit of a nuisance. Otherwise a great product and does a good job.
