Absolute beast of a machine that demands respect and will cut through just about anything like butter with 2000w behind it.Please use appropriate PPE when using this! You need concentration and two hands to use it. The weight is roughly 9kg loaded with blade.This is a 5 star machine but I’m deducting one star due to the fact that it doesn’t come with a case as standard - but it’s so big that you need one. All you get is a cardboard box.As I found to my cost, the correct case for this item is not easy to find and even when you do it costs roughly £35 - 40 as a optional extra.Due to this I sent mine back and found another online provided with the genuine Makita case + 1 x diamond blade as standard

I bought this five years ago from a local stockist for a reasonable price, but not as cheap as I could have got it online. No matter, it was there and not too expensive. It's much nicer to use than my old Makita 9", which must be thirty years old at least, and has a bit of a suicide switch on it. The switch on the old one gave up, so I bought this as an update.It's handled everything I've thrown at it so far, and still keeps going.The only thing I wish for is a soft start, but I've just bought a GA9040S to make up for that. I find the hard start is a bit of a handful with a grinding disc on, but is fine with a thin cutting disc. I'll keep the grinding disc on the 9040 soft-start.

I am building a new path at the front of my house and needed something to cut the block pavers with. I could have hired a block splitter but that only cuts in one direction. My path has an S bend in the middle and I have just spent the day cutting blocks to fit the corners. I am really happy with this cutter, it is quite heavy when first picked up but I have found that this aids control when cutting. This cutter will cut a 50x160 block in about 20 seconds and I have found that I can shave as little as 2mm with ease. I have come to expect quality from Makita and this grinder is no exception. I am more than happy to recommend it as a cracking bit of kit.

Came with 2 Pin euro plug fitted, not UK plug.Checked and double checked the description and there’s nothing to indicate that it will be fitted with a euro plug.This is a big heavy piece of kit with lots of power and with a decent blade slices through brick and concrete with very little effort. But, without having a huge amount of experience using this king of kit, it can be a little difficult to control due to the weight.Performance wise, can’t fault it but, have to mark it down due to the plug issue and having to buy a euro to uk plug adapter to use it.

This is a beast and you really have to have a good grip,full concentration and obviously full protective stuff. Been using to cut random stone,sandstone grit,york paving and large river stones. It kicks back like nothing else if it gets caught but its fantastic to use and goes through very hard stone with no problems. I contemplated using it with a wood saw blade fitting but I think I would end up cutting off a body part so I'll still to a chain saw

Ensure you wear the protective gear, I purchased this in order to cut paving slabs (sandstone), the unit is fairly heavy, this is both good and bad, good as when cutting the weight of the unit helps glide through the stone easily, bad if you are doing those awkward angles as it can give you arm ache. I bought some goggles, tough gloves and a face mask, which I would recommend you do the same.It is a powerful unit which seems solid and robust.

I had a heavy duty angle grinder by another make. It kept tripping the MCB when I turned it on. So I got this one with the soft start and it never trips the same MCB. Also it has done everything I've grown at it, cutting steel, cutting stone, cutting paving slabs, wire brushing - it just keeps on going. And it is lighter than the other one I've got, so is less tiring to use. Hence the 5 star rating.Read full review...

Also it has done everything I've grown at it, cutting steel, cutting stone, cutting paving slabs, wire brushing - it just keeps on going. And it is lighter than the other one I've got, so is less tiring to use. Hence the 5 star rating.

Awsome piece of kit ,chopped multiple council paving slabs ,then moved onto rought iron gates and a tree stump ,after that i decided i needed something else to use this beast on ,so now i crack it out every sunday ,goes through chicken ,turkey and gammon like a hot grinder through concrete ,however be carful of kickback if you encounter a tough roast ,that beef can ocasionally fight back !!

Really heavy beast arrived quickly but no case as standard. The carton box wouldn't resist very long and it's not big enough to carry the tool with the garde. Couldn't find the proper case for it so send it back in original carton box before using it, shame but no practical. Amazon will refund it no problems. Very good customer service.

The grinder was delivered 2 days earlier than expected , which was great,, however I ordered a 110v grinder, and when it arrived there was no 110 plug on it. There was no information stating that there would be no plug on. I found this weird as I had seen these grinders in quite a few builders merchants for sale with the plugs on

I bought this to replace an old JCB model where the motor had failed. I have used both diamond cutting and abrasive grinding/cutting disks on natural stone and concrete paving; seems to be very efficient and accurate cutter with diamond blade, and easy to manoeuvre when grinding. Great tool.

This is a real quality tool.I bought it to replace my old one same model which I had for years of hard use before it died.It has a soft start which is really useful.You can get much cheaper ones from the diy chains etc but they are nowhere near as good and won't last.

This is a surprising large and heavy tool but is excellent, very pleased.I would just like to know who received the original delivery which was delivered to an incorrect address, Post Code correct but partly my fault as there was a small error. Amazon were brilliant.

This is a really solid piece of kit! Heavy to use, but feels powerful. I haven’t yet used it on the heavy duty jobs for which it was bought, but my initial impressions are that it will do the job. Neither do I yet know how reliable it will prove in the long term.
