This angle grinder is a fantastic tool : it is very comfortable to hold and the adjustable guard is a very useful addition allowing you to access all angles.Being lightweight and having a handle it is an excellent tool to work with, especially working on a ladder with no cable to worry about. As to how long the batteries last I do not know, however I have two 4ah batteries so I would use one while charging the other. I would suggest that if you purchase one of these you should get two batteries otherwise on larger jobs you will be continuously waiting to recharge your batteryI already have a deWalt drill with two 4ah batteries and charger so £115 was a great priceIf you had to buy the batteriesand charger the cost would escalate so this should be bourne in mind. The three year extended warranty is a comfort.I had this three year warranty with my deWalt drill that developed a fault after 12 months. The service centre arranged to have it collected from my address and returned within seven days repaired. The only odd thing is that the grinder comes with a large Allan key and as far as I can see serves no purpose. To remove and fit the cutting discs you need a special two pronged tool that was not in my package. This would be a problem as you have no way of fitting the cutting discs . Not fitting them securely would be dangerous * DeWalt if this is not an isolated incident it needs to be addressed *For my own part I already own a Bosch mains powered angle grinder and the tool for changing the discs Is compatible with the deWalt so Personally I not have a problem.

This is a great tool when used with the 4 Amp batteries. Power is good and the tool (with 4 Amp batteries) is well balanced. I'm not sure I like the disk guard as its a little too good at protecting the disk (probably a good thing) but it does have an easy to use locking mechanism for moving the guard around to the cutting position you are using. The positive off lock switch in the trigger is a good idea especially when changing disks.I'll still be using a mains powered grinder if I have a lot of grinding or cutting to do but for quick jobs this is just so easy to grab without having to sort out a mains lead of fold a mains lead up afterwards.I don't think this is as powerful as a mains poweredgrinder however there is plenty of power for cutting yet not so much that you end up with the grinder flying around the room if you do something stupid. Come on, we all occasionally end up cutting or grinding in a way that isn't ideal from a safety point of view.

About 2 years ago I decided to splash out on a DeWalt cordless drill and whilst I haven't used it that much, I only recently had to charge the battery; which is impressive.Based on that product I also bought a cordless grinder (the subject of this review) and 2 different impact drivers and a torch, all of which use different versions of the same 18v battery ranging from 1.5 to 5Ah in my case. The grinder came in a large and sturdily made plastic tool box which was optional and this is large enough to accommodate the grinder and several other tools etc.The grinder itself is quite large and quite heavy, as are all DeWalt cordless and for that matter, mains powered tools. It is powerful, well made and I suspect the 5Ah battery with last a long time.As with all DeWalt tools, the mat yellow finish gets dirty quickly and is difficult to clean. But overall it's a class act if you can afford it.Read full review...

Like most amateur DIY enthusiasts for years I have tried and mainly failed when it comes to most DIY projects , initially I thought it was my low skill level, but over the years I realised the biggest factor in getting a great result is buy the best quality kit, the better your tools the better the results. This Dewalt cordless grinder is a top top piece of equipment , robust, well balanced and capable of dealing with anything you throw at it. Buying through E Bay from a recognized dealer gives me confidence and saves me £££££ on normal retail, Ive bought a hi end product that will last for years for the price of a mid range item,,,,,,no brainer

I use one of these grinders at work daily, I work in an intense industry where tools get thrown around a lot! These grinders have been dropped in wet concrete countless times, dropped on the floor, used constantly (12 hour shifts) on jobs such as Crossrail - which is about the most demanding project you will get. They just keep going. I'm incredibly impressed with the tools DeWalt are producing nowadays. You will never burn it out using it in a casual DIY way, I am convinced it will last for life if not abused like ours, even though that hasn't stopped ours yet. 100% buy it without any hesitation.

Very impressed with the power and versatility of this tool, ideal for cutting and grinding. Quite surprised at the speed of the motor and the duration of the battery. It's been useful when working on site, saving time and hassle setting up transformers, cables and power supplies. It's lightweight but packs a punch on performance. It's three times the cost of a traditional corded angle grinder, but well worth the money. I wish I had purchased one of these years ago. It's now an essential piece of kit that I take everywhere.Highlky recommended.

I bought this since I have the 6 piece Dewalt 18V kit and add it to my set. All the batteries are interchangeable.Has a safety power release mechanism to prevent the grinder starting by accident.Has a screw on handle which can be placed either side to suit the left or right handed DIYer.Discs are easily locked in place with the grinder key.Good power but unsure how quickly this consumes power (I have 4 Ah batteries)Grinding discs need ordering separately, say for concrete or metal cutting.

This unit arrived and was immediately put to use in building works. It was easy to handle, easy to change blades and the battery was brilliant too - we got the 5Ah battery which I think is needed for the unit to last any length of time. The unit is sturdy, yet easily handled and you can get a good grip on it unlike some other where your hand slips when pressure is applied. Overall, an excellent piece of kit and a necessity for anyone out on site doing this sort of job.

This is a great tool - not too heavy and nicely balanced (with a 4AH battery pack). It's nice to handle and the guard works well. If you've already got a deWalt XR cordless setup for your power tools, this is a great addition. Used for hobbyist metalwork and DIY, it might be a bit over-specc'd for the task at hand but the built quality and handling are excellent and I'm happy to pay a little extra to have something that works with my existing battery /charger setup.

Used this for 1st time today - feels very strong and well built. Blade changes easily with allen key rather than some of the flimsy 2 pins spanner things. Cut through Uni strut no problem. Very powerful/fast and feels heavy duty in hand.Obviously its cordless so bonus! Cords would just get in the way for a grinder. Id always suggest cordless when purchasing a grinder. So yeah, does its job... very well!

Just got around to using this. Alongside my Makita.115. The main difference here is the ability do do jobs a distance out on the land, without having to rig up power supplies. Often just cutting a couple of bolts on a broken piece of machinery in a field for example. Or with a bigger job, having a couple of fully charged 4ah batteries means plenty of work can be done. There is a convert here. Me !

Well balanced relatively light angle grinder what you would expect from a Company like Dewalt. Start up is gentle so no sudden kick of centrifugal force which is the norm with angle grinders. Also liked the keyless method of changing guard position when its required to do so. Came with an extended 3 year warranty which for a keen DIY user such as I it was an added bonus.

This is now the most used tool in the workshop. No mains cable to snag on sharp panels and light and easy to use. Ok, it canes the batteries but having but several high capacity ones I am never stuck waiting for it to recharge. Tough plastic construction and sensible trigger control means you can use it all the time without hand aches. Top quality from Dewalt, as usual.

Plenty of power and well made. Can't comment on reliability as not had it long enough. My main gripe and the reason I've only given it 4 stars....The handle design. I find the handle orientation with the fixed finger guard a bit of a pain when using at awkward angles. If your used to a standard body hold layout it's going to take you a while to get used to this.

Great to be cordless. Cuts pavers with ease.Heavier than my mains one but more powerful.Batteries don't last so long. Not surprising given the power output. If you want to use continuously (eg sanding) or with no mains available for recharging probably not the best choice. But for power excellent. 2 batteries essential. I used 5AmpHour
