Ordinarily if a product had a few minor faults I'd probably knock off a star or two, depending, but I just don't feel like I need to do that here.It does what it says on the tin, and for £20 you can't really complain. So mine, when it arrived, the right hand guard looked a bit wonky, or bent, but it may just have not been attached correctly; When removing and attaching the outer guard to change wheels you need to kind of wiggle it around a bit to set it straight.I think the wheels on mine are ever so slightly off centre, but it's by such a small amount that the movement of your hand will probably affect your sharpening more than this, and it may also just be an uneven wheel not ground straight yet.I haven't used it enough to take much from the wheels yet.If you also buy the recommended SilverLine wire wheel that Amazon recommends, then be prepared to leave both the inner and outer guards off the grinder, mine wouldn't even spin up with them on it. I think this might have caused some other people issues since the device doesn't seem to have a lot of torque, it gets its power from slowly building up speed, so if the wire wheel is sticking against the sides it just doesn't have the power to spool up.But, once it does get up to speed it works great.Yea, this probably isn't the most powerful and precisely machined grinder in the world, but it will do the job for you, no problem. It's also not too loud, in fact it seems really quiet, it's got an almost soothing humming sound. Quite relaxing. My recommendation:Buy one of these if you want a grinder for the odd couple of jobs, and use that extra £40-50 leftover to buy yourself another tool or two as well..

This is an honest and cheap little grinder. It arrived within a couple of days and was well packaged. I have seen a lot of negative reviews but for the price you cant beat it. This whole unit cost me less than one grinding disc for my oregon chainshaw sharpener! If you have some heavy grinding jobs then obviously you are going to need a bigger machine. I use this one for sharpening all my garden tool blades - brushcutter, shears, lawnmower, and also drill bits and knives and chisels. I dont know how people have burnt the motor out, it seems very robust to me. Maybe the motor has been specced up. I have wanted a bench grinder for years and am glad i bought this one. I havent decided where to mount it on my bench yet,but because it has a rubber anti-vibration pad underneath it is quite easy and safe to use it without having to mount it- at least straight away - until you have decided the best place. In my opinion every small hobbyist workshop should have one.

I had always wanted a Grinder for my workshop never really got around to it, until now and I was ok as I ordered a blue grinder got a bright orange grinder well the blue was my favour colour but it is here now and it will be bolted to my work bench. I ordered some of the buffers and hoping everything fits as it says, but time will tell if this was a good buy or not as some or the reviews I read said it was good. I gave it 4 stars because I did not order the orange grinder but if it was blue then it would have got top marks sorry that is just the way it is thanks to amazon and the seller for getting it to me a lot faster as it came before the time. Happy New Year 2019 to everyone.

For the price and as a clearly entry level tool, this isn't at all bad, after reading the reviews and realising this wasn't the most powerful machine, I decided it would be fine for using a wire wheel and some light polishing. Used it extensively over the weekend and it performed as well as you'd expect a <£20 grinder to perform. Fit for purpose for what I'm using it for, although you do need a bit of patience as after using for 30-40 minutes you'll need to give it a break to stop it overheating/bursting into flames. It can be frustrating when it slows to a stop because you've applied a little pressure.

This is a 150w machine, it’s not designed as a powerful grinder but is perfect as a light DIY grinder for sharpening tools etc. Having said that it is a lot more powerful than many other comments would have you believe. I changed the shape of my rough plane's blade no problem at all. It’s also an ideal size for someone like myself where this isn’t an everyday tool, big enough to do the job and small enough to keep out of the way. I have no problem at all recommending this grinder for the the purposes I suggested, though if you are a metalworker you might want to look at more powerful machines.

This is my first bench grinder and that is because I never really knew where I could fix it as space is at a premium with me. The answer was really very simple, after a little thought, I drilled 4 holes in the top planks of my Black and Decker Workmate so that it would be firmly anchored when in use. At other times it fits into a corner of my work shop area separated from the workmate. Now I have the best of both worlds with a very useful machine that can be ready to use in 3 minutes. Yes I do always bolt it down for use even though there is no vibration from its smooth running.

The bench grinder came within 2 days of ordering :)This grinder is perfect for what i need which is only sharpening drill bits center punches, scribers and other hand tools,i wouldnt recommend this for anything else because it is only a small bench grinder you could burn out putting heavy loads on,plus it only has a 15mm wide wheel. The grinder also has what looks like a converted plug, maybe this was meant to be in a different Country but all in all this is a hand little tool that will keep my tools sharp over the coming years :).

I think this is unbelievable value. Even when sharpening my mower blade, the unit was stable. If you use the mounting screws with maybe a felt pad underneath, I think it would eliminate vibrations completely. It was simplicity itself to assemble. I haven't noticed much dust from sharpening chisels / knives, but you may wish to rig up your dust collector if in the workshop.I bought a separate leather strop and stropping compound and have been slicing my fingers the knives are so sharp

I've got several chisels etc., my choice with the old ones, do I replaced or sharpen, I'm very glad I finally got round to ordering a bench grinder, this came well in time, is sturdy enough for my tasks and I can already see how I can attach other accessories. a previous review said their one rotated the wrong way, Toolstream must have addressed the issue, mine worked perfectly and the guides and shields were easy to attach. I highly recommend this grinder.

This is a great basic bench grinder for small jobs, as most reviews say. I also bought the buffing disc but one thing to note is, the left hand disc bolt unscrews clockwise. A bit tricky then as it loosens the right hand disk bolt. I had to remove both end covers to make sure I could tighten the bolts correctly. Ideally should have a system like an angle grinder where you as top the shaft turning with a spanner. Good buy overall for the money.

Nothing wrong with the bench grinder. Much to my delight it even has rubber pads so that it can simply be placed on a work bench. Nice touch. I expected to have to bolt it down to stop it vibrating it's way off the bench but no...... it's extremely stable. I suspect it could be a little light in power for really heavy work but for cleaning metal and sharpening blades etc.... it's more than powerful enough. I was delighted with my buy.

This is a very useful tool when you need a grinder for sharpening tools - chisels, screwdrivers, working small parts and similar bench work. It does not have the power of more expensive grinders and would not be suitable if you do a lot of grinding work, but for your home workshop where you need to occasionally grind you could not so better. The fine and course wheels do the job. Always wear eye protection and gloves when grinding.

It is more than up to tackling the jobs I bought it for. I have bought a number of Silverline products over the years and have always been very pleased with their products.I am not a professional, just a keen DIY guy, so my tools don't get a battering use wise. And I don't want to spend a fortune on professional grade products. But I can't see any reason why they would not stand up to some serious usage. They are very well made.

To begin with this product represents good value for your money it is powerful enough to handle most DIY jobs and the quality and finish is again more than you would expect for what you pay. I would certainly recommend it to a friend who is interested in doing a bit of DIY which is what I do if someone is wanting to carry out a great deal of grinding and polishing they may need a bigger piece of equipment. Overall a great buy.

This is a cheap as chips bench grinder as as such is only suitable for light duties such as sharpening tools and polishing. If you want it for more serious stuff then look elsewhere. I fitted mine with Silverlines own brass brush wheel and the motor didn't have enough torque to actually start! I ended up trimming the wayward elements and loosening the side slightly to enable it to spin up.
