I have been meaning to buy one of these for some time. I have one of the old two handle rotating buffers and they are utter rubbish, all they do is vibrate the hell out of your arms without actually doing much polishing and are utterly useless for compounding. This Silverline product was the cheapest professional type car buffer and sander I could find on the web.I was a bit sceptical at first as normally you do get what you pay for but in this case its well worth the money.I painted the bonnet and one front wing of my 30 year old Porsche 944 using aerosols I'd ordered from paints4u.com (highly recommended - used them before and always a brilliant match using your cars paint code - very fast delivery as well)but was not too chuffed with the shine due to my rubbish painting technique. I flatted it back with progressively smoother wet and dry (used wet) going from 400 grit down to 2500 grit and it looked ton's better but still nowhere near the shine it should have, so decided to buy the silverline polisher. Also bought a medium and soft pad (also by Silverline) as the polisher doesnt come with them. It does come with a sheepskin type polishing bonnet, a sanding disc, a sanding/polishing backing disc and a spare set of electric brushes.I then used the Silverline with the pad on the slower speed, progressing to quicker speeds using G3 liquid rubbing compound which is brilliant stuff, Very soon got a pretty decent shine. Then moved on to slightly less abrasive compound of G10 which again is brilliant and it gave a great shine. Finished off using the disc that came with the polisher with the polishing bonnet and some Halfords polish (dead cheap and does a better job that some 3 times the price - as recommended in Practical Classics)The paint finish now has the same deep shine as the rest of the car which is amazing considering it was aerosols I'd painted it with. If you take you time to prepare it well, rub it back with wet and dry and make sure you put enough paint on and you can get a really decent finish. This product when used with decent compound will get rid of 'orange peel' in the paint as well, so long as not too deep. Just a bit of time and patience. The Silverline polisher is the cheapest I could find and so far having used it for a good few hours on the Porsche bonnet and wing, plus compounded and polished the rest of the car and it has worked faultlesly. The triggers a bit stiff, its a bit heavy but neither of those things are a problem as its a great polisher, is dead easy to use and for the price seems pretty well made.I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this product, and even if it packed up tomorrow (which I doubt it will as it seems pretty substantial) I've still saved the money of a bodyshop spray so Im quids in !!Unless your after a body shop standard polisher, Id definitley go for this one. Wish I'd bought one years ago !!!I wish I could attach a picture to show the great shine I managed to get with this but unfortunatley I cant find out how to do it. Shame as the best way to check if a product is any good is to see how well its worked.

Being a newbie to polishing I was not sure where to start. I heard that dual action polishers may be better but they are also much more expensive. As the polisher I brought would most likely only be used a few times a year i settled for rotation polisher and I'm glad i did.The unit is very easy to use and really brings up the paint on my car a treat. All i would say is the unit only comes with a sheepskin pad and adapter and its massive. Unless you are planning on polishing a large caravan or the like with big flat surfaces you will need a smaller adaptor. I purchased a 6 inch adaptor with a number of pads for 10 quid. I think this is important especially if you have a car with lots of lines and curves, with a large pad it is difficult to polish without the pad rubbing directly on an edge, this can be risky as you are more likely to burn through the paint or cause damage.Compared to manual polishing this is so much quicker and the results are quite honestly amazing. I had no idea i could get the black paint on my car to shine this much, it looks wet in certain lights and really looks like its just off the showroom. As far as speed control i started out slow and then sped up once i was more confident. There are really no rules with speed, you can have it on its slowest setting and it will just take longer to polish the whole car, too high there is a risk of burning but if you keep checking the temperature of the panel, it can be warm but if its ever too hot to touch you will need to slow it down.If you have never polished a car car before you will likely do what i did, i forgot to dab the polishing pad on the paint so when i started the polisher for the first time the polish that was on the pad went everywhere. You only do that once.Only negative and its minor, the unit is a little noisy, not painfully so but when i was doing the side of the car next to a brick wall the volume did increase somewhat so you may want some hearing protection.

Upon returning from a two week holiday I found the roof of my car had been heavily soiled with bird poo. Not only that but it had obviously rained and spread, then dried. The marks were badly etched into the paint work beneath the surface of the clear coat, leaving a stain of approximately 45cm x 45cm. I attempted to hand polish the area using Farecla G3 Scratch Remover but this failed to work. Before booking the car into a professional detailer I decided to buy a machine polisher and attempt removal myself. Although I was apprehensive I started slowly with a blue medium compound pad and using the G3 Scratch Remover did a few passes of the affected area. There was an immediate improvement but there was still a number of deeper marks. I increased the speed and after a number of passes (removing the polish with a microfibre after each pass) the marks are completely gone. I then finished the whole roof with Auto Finesse Tripple and a few coats of Auto Finesse Tough Coat. The night blue paint on my Golf R now looks amazing! This is a cheap polisher that represents fantastic value for money, but use with the right products and you can definitely achieve stunning results.

Bought this as a starter because all the other polishers a really pricey. It's fit for purpose however! I did have an issue which I have resolved. When I powered up the motor, the circlip that holds the motor in would come off as the motor is to strong for it. I placed a 2p coin at the opposite end and it's solved the problem. My other gripe is although I'm quite strong, by the time I'd finished the car my forearms where aching a fair bit. It's fairly big and heavy. Plus side it's got a strong motor. It undercuts most other machines in some cases by £100, some recommend a dual action polisher, I would prefer one but I don't want to spend £160+ on something I don't use that often. If your thinking about it just do it,it's heavy and quite big but it's powerful. Get some meguires pads and your away. The polisher comes with a backing plate which I cut down to fit my meguires cutting, polishing and waxing pads. It comes with a polishing bonnet but I wouldn't use it as it feels quite abrasive. It comes with spare bushes and a sanding pad. Any problems send it back immediately. Hope this helps.

Received in good time. I got the handle attached and was about to use but couldn't get it to work. I initially thought I had a faulty one but when I got someone to look at it for me you have to hold a button in on the side as well as push the trigger then it starts, its a safety point. I had read the instructions but couldn't find anything that indicated that, that was how it works. Anyhow that aside I think it's going to be great, I bought it to sand down some furniture as I have just started doing some upholstery work. I also bought the Silverline 217606 Nylon Filament Abrasive Cup Brush 75mm Coarse.Being a female It is quite heavy but I think with the sturdy handle it will make it easier.I looked at a lot of different types of sanders and after reading other reviews I decided to go ahead with this one. I found it to be good value and I didn't want to buy one that required sanding sheets as they always seem to fly off. I felt that with the type of sanding cup brush I bought to go with it that there would be more flexibility in getting into difficult areas.

Have not painted a car since my twenties now retired thought I would try a little diy car painting ,Thought I would start with something easy my wife's beloved black Mercedes SL .I managed to get the base coat and lacquer on the car but not exactly the mirror finish I had hopped for.The old skills were a bit rusty and the new materials were unfamiliar the wife was not going to be pleased. In a desperate attempt to save the day I ordered this polisher. It arrived quickly and after watching a couple of how to videos on line .I had a go at the Merc .the machine was easier to use than I had anticipated even in my inexperienced hands it transformed a bit of a disaster into a very professional lookingfinish.Orange peel gone dry patches gone, replaced with a deep glossy shine .Merceds now looks great wife is happy and my reputation is intact ,great product great price .Happy customer.

I received this item to day it was a good quick delivery, although, I haven't used it yet I find it a bit on the heavy side perhaps I should have got one a bit lighter in weight but it seems to be a very good bit of kit, I can't wait to try it out on my car as that's what I bought it for I like to have a good shine on my car.The one I have is not very good for getting a good shine as it vibrates a lot and creates swirls, I saw one of these being used on TV and it seemed to be doing a good job so I hope this one does, it was very well packed and secured and I am very pleased with the polishing sponges and the one for shining I would recommend this polisher to anyone who is thinking of buying one but if you are polishing your car make sure that you keep it on one of the lower settings,I was told this by a friend who works with cars.

Forget all the bad reviews this is awesome arrived today with some extra pads I also got and it's amazing the finish is factory standard plenty of power used on full speed but never use full speed !!!!!!! 3-4 maximum 1 for working in polish over my car is like glass now I Clayed the car first to get all the sap and dirt off this is key for perfect results !!!!! used bilt hamber polish then after that was buffed off I immediately waxed using bilt hamber double speed wax as I do a lot of car detailing I have used plenty of stuff over the years only thing I would say is watch the pads on corners and wheel arches as it will shred it but as long as u concentrate u can't go wrong with this and thepads are cheap to replace my car is better than showroom standard and the machine is also a very cheap price can't go wrong !!!!!!!!

This product has been a godsend to me, I brought a 15 year old Vauxhall Astra as a project which was in need of some TLC. The red paintwork had faded and had gone a milky pink! (not a great look for a guy!)With just a couple of times using this polisher i have been able to bring it back to its former glory..Such an inexpensive product always has flaws, the pads do not last very long, you need to be careful when cranking it up to its fastest speed as it can go through the paintwork ( a light hand is needed) and the lead isn't the longest but I will be using this one for many years! This product has half or maybe event a quarter of the price of other polishers on the market which makes it acontender for anyone's money!

Great value polished, I've had a few expensive polishers over the years but after the last one packed up went for the cheap option, out of the box it is a well built well constructed tool, not to heavy and nice to hold for a period of time, nice speed control and soft start. Two small niggles, the euro plug is tacky and not to sturdy for workshop use so I cut this off and it was replaced with a rubber plug, and for me the power cord was not long enough so I replaced this with a 4mtr lead, apart from these two issues which were easily rectified for less than £5 and any compitant person could carry out, it is a very good tool for the price, would recommend.

I had the choice between the polisher alone or he polisher plus pads/sponges and other stuff.I went for just the polisher, and said i would but the pads in a shop where i live.In Ireland the standard size back plate for attaching sponges is about 5"So i had to but a back plate from a different website. ( the plates on amazon wouldnd ship to ireland)besides that its great.Ever one says it but dont over use or over do the polishing.Put a sponge on it and turn it on, put ur hand on it and see how fast it burns ur hand. Now remember that when ur using it on the car!Use a nice fine compound once!!!then use some autoglym polish

I tried, twice, a cheap (£40) variable speed machine from B&Q but they both burned out within minutes. 900W wasn't enough.Only 4 hours constant use so far but this one is working a treat, buffing my ancient aluminium Airstream from head to toe. It's not that heavy, fits my M14 'pigtail' adapter which was a relief, and seems to cope with the larger cotton buffing wheels happily thus far. The velcro pad also quite handy, just tried that out on an odd job.If this keeps up, it is going to prove to be a VERY good value tool for me personally. Fingers crossed it can cope with another 100+ hours on the aluminum.

No problems with this item as long as you look at the price. It's a bit heavy- really it's an angle grinder with an electronic control and it sounds 'rough'.The handle is badly made to the point that unless I cut some of the plastic away it wont line up for the fixing bolt.I still have it fixed only on one side. I've used it a lot to polish aluminium castings from vintage motorcycles and it works well.I have a Dewalt polisher too and the performance /handleability is chalk and cheese but so are the prices.Good value for the cash and promptly delivered. Recommended.

Having spent the afternoon using this polisher to restore some paintwork on my car, I am very impressed... the variable speed is a big bonus as starting slow prevents the compound flying off in all directions. I only used 1 and 2 settings which increased the speed to 900rpm which produced great results without the risk of burning the paint. The polisher is a little heavy but very managable. The additional brushes and 3 years warrantee make this a very good, allbeit cheap, polisher that should provide longivity if used as instructed for DIY purposes.

Seemed like the best value for money, and I am really impressed. Nice to use, decent guarantee, comes with a fluffy buffer and a coarse sand paper pad, and also nice to see spare brushes in the box. For those who are wondering, the brushes are vital to a motor, but wear out over time, so a spare set is a good inclusion although no real manual for who to change these for the less confident. Not too heavy and has done the job for what I needed it for, and the quality of the product feels as though it will last for a long time.
