Wow - it does look the biz it has to be said. Its about eleven inches by just over the same again size-wise so in real terms a space of about twelve inches square in old money - never have been a metric fan - will see it sitting comfortably on a worktop or similar area. Our old toaster was just under this size, and also a four slice model, so it fits in quite nicely in its vacant spot. The black rippled finish is quite something and I have to say it, quite eye-catching as a neighbour popped in as straight away she spoke: ‘see you got a new toaster then!’ (drat! – is nothing sacred?!). Back to the initial ‘test run’ then. The slots are quite generous and much better than our last model (different maker before you wonder)as we use a variety of bread (depends at times if on ‘Special Offer’ etc or other promotions such as ‘Buy One - Get One Free’ plus a free tin opener or rubber duck for the bath promotion sort of thing) but we found Tesco thick sliced did very well as we had some to hand anyway but are now buying other breeds to try out - with toast it’s a matter of choice or rather taste as in our house it goes from a gentle singe to cremated in various increments depending on who is doing the actual process although it must be said this toaster handled it very well and it just takes a bit of knob twiddling to get the setting that is right for all of us - tricky but true - but now we have a ‘family happy’ setting that everybody seems to like after a few trials and errors. We did get a packet of crumpets to try and to be honest, they were not bad although it’s a taste thing of course, but we found they worked best with being put in twice to get them how 'we wanted' them but as outlined, its down to each persons own taste and how you/they like your/their food prepared but either way, so far this machine is going rather well and we are impressed. Bottom line is it looks quite wonderful with its black finish and the chrome looking controls plus its got the Russell Hobbs name on it and has been about for years plus its got a good warranty period to it as well and it would not look out of place in a 'space age' film to be honest. Very recommended - plus our next door neighbour thinks its good as well, without even tasting a sample (yet!)

This is a review of the four-slice white toaster featured on this Amazon page and not any of the other variants. As a four-slice unit it is a substantial toaster. What struck me most when unpacking it was the size. It’s almost square in shape and takes up a 12” by 12” space on a kitchen work surface. So make sure you have the space to accommodate the toaster as it tends to be an appliance that’s left out all the time.Visually the overall impression is of chrome and white. I’d prefer an all-chrome finish but the white texture plastic actually looks OK. If you can find the space, it looks reasonable on a work surface and will fit with most modern kitchen designs.Feature wise, the unit will, obviously, toast four slices of bread! The toasting slots are very wide - in part reflected in the size of the toaster - and so crumpets, teacakes and ultra thick slices of bread will all fit well. An added bonus is that the toast ejector can be manually raised to eject small or stubborn bread. The toaster has a couple of additional useful features. A button allows you to toast frozen bread, automatically extending the heating time, and another button allows toasted bread to be reheated. You also get the standard dial to select how well toasted you want your bread. Usefully if you're only toasting two slices of bread the two right hand slot elements do not heat up at all. I have a Dualit toaster where they do in part using unnecessary energy and risking burning out an element. The toaster also has a two-year guarantee. So this is a fairly feature-rich toaster which for the price seems like very good value for money. The only drawback is its size.Four stars

First of all, toaster is a very stylish unit. It’s not overly big, and looks neat and very modern. The rippled black glossy plastic looks nice with the silver accents and makes it look more expensive than it actually is.The slots are actually really wide so accommodate nice thick slabs of bread (I tested it with a few thick bulky slices of granary cob and it fit them without having to force them down). The bread toasts fairly evenly, differently from other toasters I’ve had in the past as with this toaster, the bread comes out with defined stripes where the elements have been heating the bread, which honestly looked quite attractive. It didn’t seem to take too long to toast even on the five minute option on the little dial, the toast was actually ready in about three (although it was thicker bread so closer to the elements I suppose). At the moment I can’t comment if it accommodates normal slices of thin pre-sliced square bread (like warburtons etc) as we generally buy artisan or fresh bread. What I can say is if you love artisan or cob type bread toasted in nice thick chunky slices, this is your dream toaster.Only thing I find a bit disappointing is the toaster slots aren’t very long, so if your loaves are quite wide-long (like large oval sized cobs) then you might have to cut the bread to accommodate the slots. Otherwise, very happy. Will note, as with other toasters, it does stink a bit on the first few toasts. There’s also a sticker in the metal part at the top (near the slots) that says to remove before use but it won’t come off!

The name given by Russell Hobbs to this 4-slice toaster is ‘Inspire’ backed up with publicity blurb referring to it as a “stunning statement on your kitchen”. I’m not sure how a toaster inspires, but in my kitchen this one is certainly attractive and it appears to outshine other appliances with its shiny black corrugated surface offset against clean lines of stainless steel, plus stylish controls and modern blue indicator lights. However it is the quality of toast that matters most, which in turn is dependent on the bread, and I find this toaster has wide enough slots to take a variety of sliced and cut loaves, teacakes, bagels etc. and the range of browning embraces every possible taste, with 6 positions on control dial and a facility to lift and check browning intensity. There are buttons for from frozen, reheating and cancel, and there are 2 removable crumb trays. My toaster did not include instructions but operation is straightforward. For toasting only 2 slices then the 2 left slots are to be used. If 4 slices are required the left slide must be pushed down before following with the right. This gives rise to my only criticism – which is that all 4 slices will brown equally, and it would be an improvement if different intensities could be catered for with second control dial. But this Russell Hobbs appliance still deserves a 5-star rating.

My review sample is the white 4-slice version, a smart glossy unit that's about the same size as every other 4-slice toaster I've seen. Being so swish and modern, it rather puts my kitchen (and me) to shame.* The slots are wide enough for thick bread slices, teacakes, or - my favourite - crumpets.* Unusually, and inconveniently, there is only one timer (browner setting) control for both pairs of slots.* There is a high-lift facility that helps in removing items, especially small items such as crumpets. With my previous toaster I had to poke a fork into the slots - obviously with the toaster unplugged - to spear crumpets, so this model is more convenient in that respect.* As with every other toaster, you have to learn the best timer settings by trial and error. Having got the best setting for the very thin Warburtons Danish bread slices used in my household, I use the same for crumpets but toast them twice. Yes, I like my crumpets properly browned, not like the pallid horrors shown in the product photos.* The Lift-and-Look feature, which enables one to check progress without ejecting the toast, is genuinely useful, and I've not come across it before.Overall then, a good toaster with every modern facility, but I would have preferred two timer controls. If I'm having crumpets and wifey is having toast - you see my point.

I didnt have a toaster and have not owned one for many years, not sure why, so i was thrilled to get this to test. However i dont have anything recent to compare it too.It is a lovely rippled white, it fits really well in my Caribbean themed kitchen where i have tropical colours of orange, white, green, red and yellow. It is a smallish footprint and does not take much space up on the worktop and sits easily put away in a cupboard or length ways on a shelf. You need to burn the elements in before use, this only takes a few minutes but it does leave quite a pungent smell in the kitchen so i would actually advise doing it a few times and not on a day you will need it to cook the toast.I buy Aldimalted wheat bread which is very thick but this toaster held it easily and toasted it to a nice golden colour on the 2nd lowest setting. I cannot say if it is faster than any other toasters because like i said i have nothing to compare it to, bu i was very impressed with the speed of the toaster in use. The crumb tray was easy to slide out and wash and i was surprised it had a function to cook frozen bread. This is going to come in very useful for me because bread always goes mouldy on me because i dont eat it fast enough so this will come in handy.Overall i really like it, for me it is a 5 star item and i am very happy with it!

This looks very stylish indeed and looks really good in our kitchen. As it is black it does rather stand out in a mainly white kitchen, but no matter as it looks so good, though my wife is dusting it more than she did for the old one.It is fairly small, and fits well in the same space as our previous toaster. This is useful, as in a smaller kitchen you need all the space you can get.The controls are good, the same as most other toasters, including a frozen button and a dial allowing you to toast to your preferred colour. If you are doubtful about how well your toast is doing, there is a lift and look function that allows you to lift and look to see if it's ready. This also it makes it really easy to remove things like crumpets and muffins, which can tend to be difficult to move from the slots without bread tongs. The width of the slots means that you can go from medium white sliced to thick cut granary without a problem, although the granary does tend to get a little bit burnt sometimes. The lights glow blue, which looks attractive, and they are at the front of the machine next to the dial. If you are used to having a long toaster this is the other way around, i.e. it sits so that the longer part is front to back and the narrowest across the front. The crumb tray is easy to remove, which is always a bonus.

A great slice of toast is evenly cooked, from top to bottom. It is warm and crispy. This is almost there, but not quite. There are, of course, four slots - useful for a family. There is a dial for how well done you want your toast, which seems to be well calibrated. 3 cooks pale toast, 4 cooks brown toast (my ideal), while 5 then takes you into the elements of well done to carbonated parts. But even toastie bread only goes 5/6 into the toaster, so there is a line at the top, which does toast from the heat, but this means that the colour is not even. The toaster has three buttons on the front, the top button is to eject before the cycle has finished - and its lit up, so that makes this easier to use than most.A real plus point, especially to those with reduced sight where light and dark can still be seen. The symbols are also more universal than I've seen on some other, expensive toasters. The eject button is the same symbol as a CD player, the 'from frozen' symbol is the same as my microwave. The final symbol I didn't recognise, is to reheat. A useful facility though, for those who want warm toast.Cleaning is straightforward; there is a crumb tray, and the toaster is easy to wipe down.

This is a serviceable, nice enough looking toaster that does it's job satisfactorily. It's not the aesthetic second coming that the slightly over effusive blurb writer makes out but it has some good functions; one of which is a relatively recent innovation in toasters: the ability to raise the toasting bread midway through the cycle, just to check on its state of toastedness. I like this. What I don't like is the lack of separate browning controls for each side. I usually have three slices in the morning and the problem with putting only one slice in a section is that it always seems to toast more quickly than if there are two pieces. So... you want to have a lower setting for one....but you can't.You have to find a "Goldilocks" setting that browns the two slices sufficiently but doesn't burn the one. This is hard. At the very least you are left with one done a little too much or two not enough. In the latter scenario you have to take out the one slice and re-toast the two slices. This is where the check lift function is useful, of course, but it shouldn't be necessary. What do we want? Separate controls! When do we want them? In time for my breakfast!

The toaster came well packed. After setting it up we pressed both slots to get it heated for the first time as advised. Then we got the bread in - it accommodates any thickness with no problem. The buttons are all on the front wich is easy to use and gives it a neat appearance. You can select how toasted you would like the bread to be and the standard no 4-5 that we normally use on our old toaster does the same job. The red colour its great, has a glossy rippled hard plastic which will look lovely in the kitchen if you leave it out during the day. If you don't need to use all 4 slices, you can just use the ones in the left for only 2. There is also a function to defrost and one to reheat so you can get more than just the toasting. There is also a tray at the bottom which you can pull out to clean the bits caught at the bottom although you should still turn it upside down if you want to be thorough as there is always some more caught in between the toasting plates from my experience.Overall I think this product is great value for money, good quality for the price and would definitely recommend.

This is a very stylish toaster. The slots are quite wide – I have no problem toasting bagels in them. The rippled sides wipe clean easily. You can lift the toast to check how it is browning without cancelling the toasting. It also has a “high lift” feature to remove smaller items like bagels and crumpets. That’s pretty standard now.It comes with a 2-year warranty, not 1.In case you’ve missed it, it comes in three colours – black, red & white – and there’s a matching kettle Russell Hobbs 24361 Inspire Electric Kettle. There’s also a 2-slice version of this toaster. It has three buttons on the front – cancel, defrost and reheat – in addition to a browning knob. These are pretty standard.Press ”defrost” for frozen items (the toaster simply cooks them for longer – it saves you altering the browning knob setting) and “reheat” when you want to reheat cooked toast (again, it just seems to extend the cooking time, this time by a shorter amount).Toasters are all very similar. This one is stylish, and I like the matching kettle.

This is a stylish toaster which is reasonably priced and a step up in terms of style from the 'basic' ones that are available. It's available in white, red or black and also as a four slice version for larger families. I'm reviewing the two slice white one here. We've found it's easy enough to use, makes toast just how we like it, looks nice and it can be combined with a matching electric kettle if you wish:https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DLYMQVP/ref=twister_B07FCTK4MB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1Although it's a bit of a gimmick, the ability to have a look at how your toast is browning without cancelling the cycle is handy, but if, like us, you're normally toasting the same variety of bread each time, once you've found the optimum steeting, chances are it's something you won't often use.The Amazon listing accurately tells you everything else you need to know, so I'm not going to repeat it here. The gloss finish is easy to keep clean and I think it's a smart looking addition to our kitchen, so I'm happy to recommend it to you.

Firstly, the aesthetics of this toaster aren't going to be to everyone's taste. I happen to think it looks great, but I think it depends somewhat on the colour scheme in your kitchen. I also think that it actually looks better in the flesh than in the photographs on Amazon, in fact it looks pretty classy. It's pretty quick to toast bread - and I love the "Lift and Look" feature whereby you can check how toasted the bread is. The slots themselves will take fairly thick slices of bread and I only slightly struggled with certain loaves where the bread was quite wide.I've found the toaster particularly useful when taking bread out of the freezer and immediately toasting it using the 'Defrost'button to take care of everything. There's also a 'Reheat' button, but I've not yet found the need to use that. The crumb tray, easily removable at the base of the unit, is really useful in clearing the toaster of crumbs.I'm happy with the toaster, it makes a great addition to my kitchen.

Russell Hobbs 24371 Inspire High Gloss Plastic Two-Slice Toaster, Black is a nice neat toaster which does not take up a lot of room on a worktop.Breads of all thickness can be accommodated from the thinnest of bread to the thick bagels.I like the fact I can fully lift the bread out using a handy lever which means no more burned fingers. Like all toasters, you can choose how light or dark your toast, from the lightly toasted to the charcoal black this toaster does it all.I like this toaster as it works quickly with the bonus of having a reheat facility which enables me to have warm toast even those days when I usually have the toast ready before I can sit down and eventually eat it which forme is a huge bonus and an excellent feature.I really do like this toaster as any bread I have toasted is fully toasted no white edges or darker edges which some toasters have produced in the past. This is a first class toaster and for me, it is one I am happy to recommend.
