Smart looking and although the one I am using is the cream one, there seems to be a good range of colours for this model (grey, black & red) so you should get one to match your other kitchen accessories. The only real difference to the model I last used is that it has the 'lift and look' feature which I think most people would find useful to check on their toast without restarting the timer. Especially so in a household where everyone likes their toast 'done' slightly differently so the dial gets moved. As far as the 50% faster claim goes I really didn't notice any difference at all to my last toaster (supermarket's own model) which was a similar price. The flex on the Russel Hobbs is a little shorter too. This doesn't particularly matter to me though and neither does which side the crumb tray is...as long as there is one!!!I prefer the design/shape of this toaster, it looks a little classier and has longer slots, BUT the slots to put the bread in aren't as wide (see photo in comparison to a my last toaster)...and I'm rather partial to a toasted teacake! All in all it comes down to what is important to you and I think I might forgo the 'lift and look' for the wider slots if I had to choose.

I am impressed by how speedily the Russell Hobbs Colours Plus Toaster does its job - it certainly seems substantially quicker than my old Kenwood toaster. It's also significantly more powerful; being a person who prefers their toast slightly on the charred side, I was glad to find (whilst being conscious that all toasters degrade over time) a setting of just over 3 (the gauge goes up to 5) was perfectly adequate to achieve this. The slot widths are thoughtfully sized, able to accommodate any of the bread slice sizes and thicknesses we throw into it, and the pop-up height is undiminished by this. Cooking is even, without drying out the bread too much. One seldom-looked at feature I find to be well-made are the feet. They are perfectly balanced and very grippy, which makes the toaster steady and hard to slide while operating. That, in turn, means less crumb spillage around the device. It's a small point, but one I noticed and was pleased with nonetheless. Its compact design and smooth curves make for a discreet, yet stylish, appearance which fits in nicely with traditional or modern kitchens. It's simple but solid, performs well, and gets a hearty thumbs up for those qualities.

FIRST IMPRESSION for the one we bought from Amazon ( not subsidiary)PROS: Very attractive appearance with colour choice. Very simple controls indeed so less to go wrong. With wide and long self adjusting slots, it takes a variety of bread sizes. Toasts so quickly we thought there was a problem. Twice as quick as our previous Breville. Toasts very evenly. The defrost button works by adding a little time. The only other button is the cancel button. You can lift bread to check without cancelling the timer. Ours was best on the high setting 5 to 6 for normal sliced bread, so there is little chance of accidental burning. Easy to clean with removable crumb tray. Very good value.CONS: Short lead but suited us perfectly. The casing is entirely metal so becomes dangerously hot to touch but cools very quickly. The timer control is difficult to read and the knob could be disturbed when moving the toaster.NOTES. Very pleased with our choice, so far. After unpacking you are advised to "cure" the element which will make a smell. I did this in the garage and it did smell quite a lot but I only did it once and there was no smell at all when we made our first toast.

This is the way every toaster should be made. The slots are wide enough to fit things like crumpets, and crucially, long enough to fit big slices of bread. Our old toaster, which has slots the same size as a lot of others, was too small to fit our favourite Toastie bread, which has large slices. They fit fine in this one. Honestly, you wonder why 'standard' toasters seem to be made with slots that are too small for some bread. Also, despite having larger slots the toaster is the same size overall (on the outside) as other two-slice toasters, so doesn't take up any more room on the counter. It also toasts nice and evenly. We have the red one and it looks great.

This is a high power toaster. Is that good? Yes and No. You get your toast super-quick, but it is toasted on the outside and still cooler in the middle. Good or Bad? Well it is quick, but you have to accept slightly 'floppy' toast, unless you leave it for a while after it pops up, then you have lost the benefit or very fast toast.....The look and see feature is sheer genius - how come all toasters don't have this? The frozen button works well. The toaster does not exude crumbs everywhere - again, how come all toasters don't have this? So, great toaster, but you have to learn to love 'different' toast. I can buy that!

The title says it all really. After searching for a toaster that has slots long enough (not talking about width for bagels etc) to fit an ordinary slice of bread in eg Warbutons, Kingmill this is the one. It’s simple, if that’s all you’re aiming to do ie toast your slice of bread for breakfast and it’s quick. Fair enough like others I have tried/researched one side does get slightly browner than the other but not an issue. What I don’t understand is why do toaster manufacturers not have standard size slots. Large slice bread has been around a long time (mother’s pride for example back in the day!)

Very stylish looking toaster that gives a real splash of colour to the kitchen. I really liked the slider which allows you to check your toast as it is browning without cancelling the cycle as with someone with kids who like various levels of toast browness, it is a game changer. Crumb tray underneath was easy to access and empty. Heat settings easy to use and adjust. I was dubious about the claim of toast from frozen bread but am happy to admit that I was wrong. It was absolutely fine and a huge help for the day that I had forgotten to take the loaf out before bed. Well done Russell Hobbs

Good toaster -I don't bother reviewing things often but after a month I thought I would share as it did seem difficult to find the 'one' now I don't go to shops ( actually the 6th 'one' or so over a few decades ) - its fast, slim on the outside with good slot length and capacity 17 x 3.5 cm. No unnecessary buttons and can pull up to view while still toasting. Obviously has evolved over time and not much to dislike. Less room for crumbs to hide in the bottom. Will need to see how long it lasts but the omens are good.

I threw out my "£5-special" old toaster a few years ago, not wanting to gorge on toast & toppings. With "the lockdown" in play I want a round of toast now and again This toaster is sublime. SO much better than a standard, cheaper, one.- lovely design & aesthetic- very fast toasting, leave the middle delicious and not overcooked- will take wider items such as scones- you can raise it up to check how well cooked it is without stopping the cycleIt's fantastic, highly recommended.

This is well built, shiny, super smart. I love the cheerful red colour, the reflective mirror-like stainless construction. It matches my Russell Hobbs kettle. In use it is most amenable, you can lift the toast up to check it's progress towards tip top tasty toast-iness, the cooking is super quick as well. The slots are extra wide for artisan breads, chunky slices. We have found it to be A1, ideal, very much what we would say is likely to be the best toaster on the market.

Git this lovely looking toaster as a replacement for our previous one which was the same, but an older model. The lever would no longer stay down (3 years of constant use, but then again, my parents' toaster lasted 15 years!).Takes chunky slices of our homemade bread no problem. I particularly like the new feature where without ending the programme you can raise the toast to see how it is.Very uneven at first, but like I've seen in other reviews, it is now much more even.

I'm so happy with having FINALLY found a toaster that actually fits ALL sizes of bread. No more trimming the tops and sides. I set mine on 3 and the toast comes out a lovely even mid brown on both sides! It's quick and smart and I love it. Well worth the weeks of research and very good value for money. The only thing I miss is a cradle function above to warm items like croissants but am too happy with it to care! Arrived the next day, well packaged.

Altho this toaster has quite a lot of negative reviews I find it brilliant. It toasts evenly on both sides. It does get hot quickly so I just turned it down a bit. As far as how much energy it takes, I really don't have the time to worry about that. It toasts bread, its small enough not to be obtrusive and the red one I got fits in perfectly with my other red things. I highly recommend it.

it seems a dull thing to spend time thinking about, however, It's a product one tends to use every day and a good toaster is important!I I found other reviews helped me decide. It is efficient and delivers very quickly and the bread is well toasted with good browning options available. I found it works better than a much more expensive brand I had before. It's has a nice design as well.

Our old version of this toaster finally stopped working. Having no trouble with the of one and as it lasted for many years, we decided to buy the new version. This toaster is much better than the old one. It cooks the toast faster giving it a more crunchy texture. After use it cools down faster. The crumb tray does exactly what you'd expect. All in all top marks
