This is easily one of the best games I've ever played. It's a game with a lot to do and a lot of depth to the story. Every character is well written and fleshed-out, and it takes a lot of time to get to know them as individuals. The story develops as you interact with other characters and help them out, and there's a lot of suprises to be had.Probably the most interesting feature of this game is its genre - it's a farming simulator with RPG elements. I know this sounds like a bizarre combination, and it is, but it really works! You start with minimal supplies, and have to work with your farm in order to make money, upgrade equipment, buy weapons, etc.It feels really rewarding and satisfying to build up a great farm and explore new areas.This game also allows you to tame the monsters you fight, and they can help out on your farm and produce materials like eggs, wool, claws etc which can be used for cooking or crafting respectively. There is an absolute ton of stuff to do in this game, and I guarantee you will never get bored.The RPG parts of the game are challenging without being frustrating, although I sometimes found areas where you had to keep fighting monsters to get certain items a little tedious due to poor drop rates, but fighting monsters can also get you rare items, so it's not a complete loss of time.The controls are also very fluent - I found the controls of Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness very awkward due to being almost entirely stylus-based, but RF3 gives you the option of both touch and button controls, and both are perfectly responsive and easy to learn. My only minor complaint is that sometimes using the quick-select menu can be a tiny fiddly, especially when switching items around, but that might just be me.All in all, this is an incredibly enjoyable game that you will never forget. There's a lot to keep you occupied and the story is very compelling. If Amazon allowed higher star ratings, I would still rate this game one star higher than the maximum allowed!Just be warned - you may forget to eat or sleep for a while!

Rune Factory 3 is an absorbing and totally addictive game for all ages. I'm a "silver surfer" who should be well past the youthful joys of bashing beasties and exploring dangerous dungeons ... but this game is different. Alongside the usual stalking monsters through well designed forests and caverns. the game designers have included lots of time to forge useful items and weapons; make gifts and use them to woo a variety of interesting NPCs; develop your cooking skills and find the ingredients for scores of recipes; go fishing for food and profit and farm your lands with the help of conquered creatures. As if this were not enough,the happy player can marry the girl of his choice and raise a family of children.I finished the game without having to resort to cheats and walkthroughs, and was delighted to find that life in the village goes on with plenty to do and more small dungeons to explore. This feature makes the game infinitely playable, and I fully intend to replay it on a harder setting and court a new companion. Hours and hours of enjoyable play - I would rate this as one of the best and most entertaining games available for the DS.

I have RF 1,2 and now 3 and I'm very happy.This story is far more better than the first game tho I wish it had second gen like the sequel.Just like the first 2 games you arrive in a small town with amnesia (YES AGAIN.THEY SEEM TO HAVE A LARGE AMNESIA RATE HUH?) you help out villagers while finding a bride though...there are a few slightly yaoi/shounen-ai moments between you and the blacksmith at times,theres a moment where he asks if you like a girl and you say yes,his reply is boring yet when you say no he acts happy and says isn't love grand.Another is when you go on an adventure with him he will follow you back home and unlike the rest will stay there just standing there...yeah.Moving on,thelandscape is beautiful as well as the character designs.I also like how they reference the previous games just like in the sequel.Your home is self expanding and collecting wood is much easier.Character secrets will surprise you a bit and the map has been improved.

After playing rune factory 4 I went back to this game and and honestly I feel as though this is much better than its successor on the 3ds.The story is about the same length but the dialogue is much more unique. 5/5, A definite must own on the ds and 3ds handheld console.

Not only did it arrive well on time, it came in a little protective box, with a very nice little note and an extra candy! You can tell the package was made with care, which is always nice! Great on all fronts! I have just started the game, but so far so good!

Classic Rune Factory game, played it through none stop!Engaging characters, brilliantly drawn.Recommend for anyone who has played any of the other titles or is looking for a light engaging RPG!

I really love this game and it was the last one i missed in the Rune factory serie. If you want a kind of different but heart warming rpg this is a good place to start :)

It is an amazing game, and is a great carry on from the other rune factory series. A little pricey, but worth it. Great storyline too

Excellent game - but why make marrage so important that you cannot complete the game until you are ? That spoilt it for me.
