I am a big Harvest Moon fan myself; I really enjoy the aspect of raising my own livestock and growing my own plants, and as I can't do those things in real life, the Harvest Moon games are a great alternative for me. The details of farming are very much simplified, to make the game more fun, and that's part of the charm of the Harvest Moon series. Many people will say "if you've played one Harvest Moon game, you've played them all". To a certain degree, that's true. They all centre on farming your land and raising your animals, and most enable you to marry one of a selection of premade bachelors/bachelorettes and raise a family. However, this game has differences of gameplay that most other Harvest Moon titles don't have. The biggest difference in this game is its title feature; there are two towns, instead of one, and you can choose which one you want to live in. Different characters live in each town, but the main difference between the two towns is their specialty. Bluebell Town focuses on raising livestock, Konohana Town focuses on growing crops. You can grow crops and raise livestock in either town, but you have more space to grow crops in Konohana, and more land to raise livestock in Bluebell. And, if you decide you don't like the town you've chosen to live in, or just want a change of scenery, you have the option to move to the other town if you would like to.There are other differences between this game and most other Harvest Moon games, too. For example, you don't have to grow grass to feed your cows and sheep; they will feed themselves when let outside. Alpacas have also been introduced into this game and the dogs and cats available in previous games now have a job to do on the farm; they herd your livestock and chickens out of the barns in the mornings, and back into the barns at night and when it rains. In addition, it is safe to let your animals out in snowy weather now, whereas in other HM games they would have gotten upset and eventually ill if left out in snow.In this game, you don't have cupboards or fridges to store your products; a cart, which can be attached to your horse to pull, has been introduced for storage purposes. In addition, there are 3 different types of horse available, with varying degrees of pulling power. The horse is only `rented' in this game, so it doesn't have a festival or heart level, and you can only have one at a time, but there are 4 different colours of each type to choose from, and once you pay for them at the shop, they essentially become yours.Perhaps one of the biggest differences in this game is the friendship system with other characters. The coloured hearts for marriage candidates are gone, replaced instead by a vine of flowers on one side of the person's speech box. Every villager will have these flowers next to their text, and the more friendship points you build up with them, the more flowers will `bloom' on their vine. Marriage candidates will have coloured flowers, normal villagers will have white flowers. The last big change is the Cooking Festival. Since the aim of the game is to rebuild the relationship between the 2 towns, 4 times a month a cooking festival will be held at the mountain summit between the towns. The more you participate in these festivals, the faster the relationship between the towns will be rebuilt.

I enjoy this game very much even though I haven't been playing it for long. It is the Harvest Moon game I wished they released originally even though the HM: DS is a good game in it's own right. However, this game has amazing art and enthralling game play that makes you forget what is going on around you. The problems I have with this game is that you can only save the game when you go to bed and that the time doesn't stop anymore when you enter a house like it did in the previous versions. What I love is the fact that you can use the land of your farm which exists in the other town without having to live in that village. The requests are a nice change from just having to work on a farm and makes you feel part of the community more than in the other versions.I also am pleased to discover that if I move from Bluebell to Konohana my animals that I cannot take with me (no more than 4 cows and 2 chickens) will end up in a kind of storage/frozen like state where I cannot access them but I will be able to when/if I move back to Bluebell town. I also like the new added features and surprises that are small in nature but make a big difference to past game play. I would like to mention them but there are just too many to mention. An example of the small features is that you can go on dates with your marriage candidates.Something I truly recommend Harvest Moon lovers to play :D

Harvest Moon The Tale Of Two Towns is very different from the other harvest moon games and it can take a while to get used to the different controls for this version. Overall I love this game and like the story line behind it and you can also pick which town you want to live in to focus mainly on livestock or growing crops. The only negative to this version of harvest moon is the graphics as I personally don't find them as good as in the other games and also I do still prefer the original harvest moon for the Ds. However, I would recommend this game to other as there is hours of fun in it.

My children aged 8, 12 and 16 all love this game. You can choose to grow crops or raise animals which they liked instead of having no choice. Two of them have this version, the other has it for the 3ds but be warned - the two versions do not interact with each other. The two DS versions can visit each other. That's been the only downside but not worth taking stars off for that!

I'm a bit of a Harvest Moon dweeb- I first played it on psx ('Back to Nature') when I was 9 and was hooked. This game is the first one I've played since that has come anywhere close. Play it on the DS and it happily whisks me away for the hour long commute I have each day- and yes- I'm 23 now! Definitely a fun little time passer. Recommended.

This is the best harvest moon so, far it's slightly different to the others. There's two town, one doses for animals and the other town is crops. You can swap towns as many times as you like. If you like doing crops stay in that town, the other town is for animals and you can focus on animal needs. A must if you like the other harvest moons.

This game is by far the best in the hm series and having played and owned them all i feel this is outstanding. So easy to pick up and the subtle changes and overall gameplay make it playable and one you dont want to put down. Love the requests and the mine as well as the animals!!! One definitely to add to a ds collection!

This is a fantastic game. The cooking competition is the most taxing thing about the game because it takes a long time to collect the right items that you need
