Our ageing 'smart' TV is now no longer being supported with updates and could at best be described as 'moderately intelligent', but the picture is still stunning and significantly better than the majority of the current models that we looked at. We were seriously considering spending well over a grand on a stunning looking OLED model until the sales assistant, trying to sell us a comprehensive insurance policy, foolishly pointed out the apparent fragility of the wafer-thin screen. Not wanting our living room to become a no go area for boisterous small people, we walked away and left the sales assistant kicking herself! I then bought a tiny but immensely powerful Roku box for a few pounds - so simple to install,

Roku make the NOW TV boxes but buying the Roku Premier means that you’re not tied into them unless you want to be. The Roku Premier benefits from plenty of downloadable Channels/Apps including NOW TV. I bought it as a media player for my DNLA compatible NAS storage. Using the Roku Media Player Channel you can connect to your NAS storage and view High Def Files (HEVC). To play the same files using a chrome cast you would need to buy the Chromecast Ultra for twice the price. I would recommend waiting for the Sales to pick up a RokuPremiere to get an even better price

I first purchased one of these Roku devices for my 70 year old parents (who are very much technophobes) to allow them to watch iPlayer on their TV. Normally I have to walk them through the set ups but they didn't need my help at all, showing just how easy this is to use. I have since bought one myself as a cheaper way to get access to Apple TV+ and have been really impressed by how quick and simple the interface is to use. Overall, a great cheap & easy way to turn any TV into a decent smart TV.

Fast UI and extensive range of different apps/players, this is a great way to bring an older TV up to date. You could even use it for an already smart TV if the UI is too slow. I firmly believe you buy a TV for the picture/sound and if it has good smart features thats great, if it doesn't they are easy to add (Roku is a great way) - for heavens sake dont replace a good TV just beacuse its smart features are poor, just add a Roku. I dock one star because the remote doesnt control volume !

The device was way smaller than I expected, small enough that it needs the adhesive strip as it is lighter than the HDMI lead. Connecting it was quick and simple. Roku have a video showing setup on their website, so the the process was equally simple: watch a bit of the vid, pause it, and carry out the instructions. Adding apps was straightforward, and very quickly I had got all my streaming apps in one place, The streaming and picture quality are perfect,with no buffering so far.

The actual device is pretty small. Set up is very easy (took me about 4-5 mins) & there's a big choice of streaming 'apps' / channels from around the world which are very easy to add along with a few that are already added. A lot of these are free but some of the big 'hitters' require a paid subscription such as Netflix, Amazon Prime & Disney+. It's a great little device to add if you don't have a smart TV or want to watch stuff on a large TV & not just on a computer monitor or tablet.

The Roku premiere box was always an interest in mine as it is very versatile compared to other options such as Now TV, Fire TV and Apple TV. My home TV is a non smart TV so this was perfect in the current situation for having a bunch of content to watch from one device. Having one remote control is great as well for all online catch up services such as Disney+, Netflix and Iplayer. The only problem I have is that the new service by the BBC and ITV: Britbox doesn't have an app on Roku UK.

Was a bit dubious at first when I read the ratings as I thought it was a ‘cheaply’ product as I did not know about it.My firestick has started freezing and unresponsive remote!What a revelation the Roku is, OK it’s a little plastic box but on screen the interface just sings, it’s simple to set up and use, I was not too sure of the remote at first as it’s so utilitarian and I like my tech but it does what you want, download the user app for your phone if you want more functionality,

I upgraded my older Roku for the 4K model and it does not disappoint.I am a big fan of ROKU after living in the states and feel this is the best device as it has ALL the apps I subscribe to as some other devices have restrictions.Very easy to use and set up is quick....my 84 year old mother has one too .....love the little noise when you press the buttons.The only difference with this model is that it is missing a headphone jack in the remote that was in the previous model.

After years of paying way too much for cable TV I made the switched to streaming-via-internet using the Roku Premiere. Very simple to install (plug in to the mains and the telly USB slot, following instructions in the box and then onscreen), the design is neat, the interface is good and operation smooth and fast. Streams Freeview (BBC, ITV, C4, C5) and lots of other freebies, plus subscription channels such as Now or Amazon Prime and I only pay for channels I actually want.

Biggest issues with this is1 no volume control(except YouTube)2 mainly intended for usa not UK, many channels missing due to geo-fencing3 more software/apps for Iphone less for Android, for instance at least 4 apps to screencast from IPhone but can't see even one for Android5 most free channels are low quality and/or have ads every 8-12 mins.6 doesn't integrate well with Google home/nest.Other than those points it's great. Prefer to my Chromecast. I use at 1080p

After our Firestick started malfunctioning I had a good look online for alternatives that come with a remote control and the Roku seemed to be consistently good and a sensible price. I haven't been disappointed. The remote is cute and we love the Netflix button - maybe a future model will have a Disney+ button too! So easy to set up. Everyone can use it and it feels much simpler than the Amazon model and better in that it doesn't constantly try to upsell paid for content!

I bought the Roku Premier HD streaming Media player without having done too much research as we needed a quick fix for expanding our viewing options during the lockdowns for the kids (Netflix, Disney+ etc). What I wasn't expecting was the ease of use and set up, the tiny size of the box and most importantly the quality of picture and sound. It has transformed my TV into an all singing, all dancing HD smart streaming device. Kids love it, great value and simple to use.

As a product I always prefer to use the Roku to other streaming options as there is more available on the Roku and most other streaming services are available on Roku.The only issue I have with Roku is that they produce the Now TV streaming sticks and for some reason compared to the Now TV remote control the Roku RC is not as good, the Now TV RC has a Power button and volume controls but the Roku RC does not, why produce a better RC for a secondary product?

I had purchased this product as my PS3 was no longer going to support NowTV. Looking at various reviews I decided the Roku would be the best option delivering the services that I wanted.I've attached the small box below my TV, which I now hardly notice. The interface is quick and easy to navigate, I really like to ability to search over all platforms for content. Picture and sound quality are great, really can't complain at the very competitive price.
