Prior to my purchase it was difficult to understand just why the Apple TV 4K box was so much more expensive than any other option with same kind of features. I already owned a Fire TV 4K stick which on paper can do everything that one of these can.But I recently upgraded my home cinema set-up to include a Dolby Atmos sound system and wanted to be able to take advantage of the Atmos enabled programming on Netflix and Amazon Prime and that's where things get tricky as only a few devices actually provide the Atmos signal from these services. Even TV's and streaming devices (such as the Amazon Fire Stick) that are Dolby Atmos capable do not provide the Atmos signal on Netflix and Prime.Apparently in Netflix's case at least this is due to them getting paid by certain manufacturers to use Atmos for their devices. Out of my set-up the only device I have that allowed Dolby Atmos from the Netflix app is my Xbox One X and that's not a device I want to use on a daily basis for watching TV on. So I purchased the Apple TV 4K 32GB box (the internal storage is purely for apps so not much point buying the 64GB version as its unlikely most people will ever install that many apps to need it) and replaced the Fire TV 4K stick in my set-up with it. Now you might find when first loading up Netflix that it still appears that Dolby Atmos isn't working - for some reason you need to start playing a Dolby Atmos enable program and then the Dolby Atmos content will start being identified by the Dolby Atmos logo on the program details.The sound and video quality of anything you stream is superb. I find that Netflix and Prime streams look better through this than the same apps on other devices. So for the purpose I bought it for I am more than happy but an unexpected surprise is everything else. It's such a nice interface that brings together all your streaming platforms and apps into one interface and actually then pulls programmes to continue and suggestions on what to watch next along with content you have purchased through iTunes onto a front page. It's like a TV guide for every possible content you use and makes it so easy to continue watching the things you love across various different platforms. Another surprise was the great value of the movies in the iTunes Store. Most films are much cheaper than through other platforms and a lot of the content now includes Dolby Atmos sound and 4K HDR video and if you purchase something that doesn't currently have these features you automatically get upgraded to the best version if they add those features at a later date. With the latest movies between £9.99 to £13.99 in 4K HDR Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos sound its a great alternative to £25 4K HDR Blu-ray Discs. Obviously the quality on a 4K Blu-ray Disc will always be superior to a stream for many films the difference wouldn't be noticeable unless played side by side and its a cheaper way to get 4K HDR with Dolby Atmos for the films you want a decent version of but don't need to own an expensive disc for.The remote you get is a stunner. Tiny, slim and typically Apple. Includes a built in Mic and you can use Siri to search across your platforms to find content. When you do search for content maybe surprisingly the Apple TV will always priorities the Free or Cheaper options first even if that costs Apple a sale through iTunes. It's great as you know you can trust the search results and won't then find it cheaper elsewhere.I can't really comment on the gaming features as I haven't tried them yet but there are also games in the App Store that you can buy and play. Many just using the included remote and some that you need to buy a compatible gamepad for - the good news there is they are adding in support for Xbox and PS4 pads soon so if you already own one of these you don't have to spend money on a new pad.In summary I absolutely love this box, the image and sound quality are the best I have found on any streaming device, the interface is like most Apple interfaces, just perfect, simple, functional and attractive and the build and design of the device and remote itself is again typically Apple, modern, simple and stylish. Recommend this version over previous versions especially if you have a 4K UHD TV. If you have a large collection of iTunes movies & music and like apps, user interface is simple to navigate. iTunes will upgrade for free any movies that you have in HD to 4K ones (IF available for that movie) 4K movies to buy is limited currently but Apple is working on that. Downside is currently you have to adjust settings to match the movie ie if a movie is 4K Dolby Vision you have to change the setting manually, tho apparently will be sorted in an update possibly TVOS 11.2 which will help greatly. If your tv hasn’t got Dolby Vision you can’t take advantage of it.It’s default is 4K HDR but you can choose from the 20 odd visual settings to suit your TV’s resolution. All movies and content will still play. It’s small and compact with easy to use Siri Remote. Overall a little pricey compared to other offerings however my tv already has 4K steaming apps so purchased this in addition for mainly 4K movies purchases and iTunes and iCloud photos on a big screen. 4K movie discs are around £26 for new realeases but iTunes offers new releases around £14 for HD (or 4K if available for that title) so you may save money over the long term. Plus you don’t have to buy a separate 4K Blu-ray player.It doesn’t do 3D well not yet at least and 4K library needs to get much better but standard HD content is comparable to other offerings. Final thought, pricey at outset, but could save on purchased content, variety of apps getting bigger, ideal if you’ve a sizeable iTunes library of music and films.

This was an upgrade from an Apple TV gen 2. The change was much more of a quantum leap than I expected - user friendliness is greatly enhanced (automatic cut in to fill fields Using an iPad/iPhone instead of clunky remote), better access to Apple Music now iTunes is removed, and overall it’s just like having an iPhone interface in a TV box. There’s a wider choice that includes music, streaming channels and an App Store interface.I don’t think Apple have yet ironed out all teething problems, so we have had some recurring glitches. But, it’s worth that small pain for a much more usable and friendly media centre.

It's easy to set up and the interface is simple as expected.Netflix is great with UHD HDR and Atmos as is YouTube and Facebook Live.The Amazon App does not look as good as the Fire Tv version both in picture quality and interface.One tip is don't set HDR on all the time or it will make non HDR pictures fake HDR.Set to SDR 50 (if in the UK) and then set Match Content to Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate. That worked for me but best to experiment with your particular TV and pick what's right for you.

This is the second unit I've bought to add to a 4K TV I've bought for a bedroom. As with all Apple devices it's pretty simple to set up straight out of the box, once some of the Picture settings are changed (search "7 Reasons Why You MUST Turn On These Apple TV 4K Settings") the picture is fantastic. All major apps are available (Prime Video, BBC, Netflix etc.); if you run a NAS drive that can't use Plex, I recommend Infuse (small annual subscription after free trial) which works amazingly well.

I upgraded from a 3rd gen Apple TV to the 4K, 32GB version, as I wasn’t interested in games. I’ve found this to be no issue for using iTunes, Netflix, NowTV or controlling Philips hue. I am pleased in the vast improvement of features & functionality compared with the 3rd gen Apple TV. The only issue I’ve found is the remote should have been designed better, its easy to pick up, upside down in the dark, on the plus side Its now possible to turn the TV on and off & the remote is also rechargeable.

I bought this based on a friend's recommendation to run the Zwift cycling app on. Like all things Apple the 4K TV unit is expensive, however, for running Zwift and Rouvy it works really well, very high quality, fast and quick to start up. One issue may be that Apple TV only allows two Bluetooth devices to be connected at once. This is not a problem if you are using a smart trainer like a Neo as that only uses one connection, allowing the other to be used for a HRM. The remote is also really bad!

Easy to install and setup great picture quality; please test your 4K settings as many HDMI cables not capable of getting the best out of the Apple TV and your shinny 4K TV yes it will always work; but if you want the highest best picture quality you must do the test to make sure your getting it; remote is touch sensitive so can be useless at times; biggest issue I’ve found is YouTube is only 1080p as stupid apple won’t allow the FREE video codec to run 4K or higher content on YouTube Overall 4/5

I’ve owned the previous Apple TV for a few years now and hasn’t failed once. I decided to have a look at what difference the new model offers. Dolby Atmos was the main feature plus the extra apps that I thought the older model lacked.Once I connected it to my AV amp I was really pleased with what I heard. Atmos is a available on Apple TV movies and on Netflix. I don’t have a 4K tv yet but the picture quality is amazing. Plus once the content is upgraded to 4K this is available at no extra cost

I recently purchased the Apple TV and it is great. It might seem like a lot of money but it is definitely worth it. The 4k films are a lot cheaper on the iTunes Store than in the shops. I can also watch Netflix and all the other catch up programmes on the Apple TV. What’s also great is that you can switch between Apple iTunes accounts if there is more than one of you so you can watch movies in the other persons library. Overall it is easy to set up and easy to use and I would highly recommend it

Superslick and clean looking interface which doesn’t try and ram ads down your throat like some of the alternatives.Netflix, iPlayer, Prime and DisneyPlus all work fine for me.I had a Roku 4K stick before which was pretty good, but occasionally a liitle sluggish, the Apple 4K TV is supersmooth all the time - you just plain don’t get lag.The remote IMHO is cleverer than it is usable - I found it too easy to make mistakes when making gestures. Harmony remote support is perfect though.

I have held off getting an Apple TV as until now it didn’t really add any features I didn’t already have, but after getting frustrated with the usability of an Android TV box I felt it was worth trying. I have not been disappointed. The box is stylish and discreet and as expected links seamlessly with my iPhone and MacBook. I have been pleasantly surprised to find there are apps available that allow live TV viewing for some regular channels and of course the usual Netflix and Amazon apps.

I have had a few streaming boxes, it's more expensive, but it really shows.* The fastest TV streaming box I have ever used* Consistent look and feel through out* Everything responds smoothly and quickly* Great even on your expensive 4k TV and will out perform any of the built in TV Apps* Perfect companion to other Apple devices, iPhone, iPad or Mac with Airplay* Full app store, so plenty to look forward to* Great remote with gyro and microphone functions, great for games too

Apple have once again out done themselves with the Apple TV 4K, not only does it let you use a wide range of apps which also provide 4K content (such as Netflix) but it provides a beautiful picture that makes you really appreciate your 4K TV. Another great thing about the Apple 4K TV is that if you already have movies in your iTunes account that are 4K movies you can watch them in 4K even if you bought them original - gone are the days where you have the same movie in video,dvd and blueray.

This is a great little box all of the popular streaming services are available to install on this like Netflix, Prime Video, and the new Disney +, WWE Network, and even NFL Gamepass services are available to download, the remote is a trackpad interface but you can connect to your existing apple account if you have iPhones and iPads already and there is a function to cast from your iPhone using airplay even if you don’t have an iPhone you will have to create an apple account which is free
