After toying with the idea of an echo device and playing around with the Alexa app on the Fire Kindle this seemed an obvious choice. Bought while on offer at £19.99 this really made it an appealing product to delve into the world of the voice assistance and smart home interface. Straight out of the understated yet appealing box this is easy to set up and connect. Having the app already installed on a kindle fire or smartphone, amazon cleverly register the device on purchase, so you are able to see it in the list before it actually physically arrives. This speeds up the process of set up no end. The only initial gripe, it required an update in order to install the Apple Music skill. This is where speaking clearly and coherently to Alexa might require a bit of patience convincing it to update. But 10mins later and it’s all set to go. Seems able to play most playlists I’ve tried from my library on iTunes. Just requires a bit of thought when phrasing your request (but then so do many things in life). It comes with an aux lead and also connects via Bluetooth, tried both with no issues. Great if you have a number of speaker units or docking stations that have quality sound but no Bluetooth. At that price point it’s great and a better investment than other home assistant devices especially if you have amazon music and other streaming services that are supported. I’ve now plumped for two additional devices at this price and have multi room music which I can control from anywhere in the house. Amazing! I’ve also recently connected the fire stick so my 1st gen stick is now voice controlled. Definitely worth a punt when it’s on offer, keep an eye out for the price deals. Could it render the echo dot an obsolete item?

I bought this, my first echo product, as I have put smart bulbs through the house and wanted a convienient way to control them. I also have speakers in my lounge that I use to connect a phone or laptop via a 3.5mm cable for music, so decided the echo input could be plugged into them. I have to say that I'm really impressed. The device is small and was very easy to set up. It is on the middle floor of a townhouse and I'm able to trigger it reliably from other rooms on the same floor and also the hallways in floors above and below which is impressive (though I will be getting a device for each floor). It does take a bit of getting used to, particularly remembering the names of my various smart light scenes and names but it is fairly intuitive. And I'm quickly coming to enjoy the convienience of not just the lights but checking the time, playing music, setting timers and alarms, finding out what's on my calendar, adding things to my "to do" lists etc. It's also got a handy microphone mute button for times when you might not want it to be triggered.I feel like the Echo Input was good value for money, though if you can get a Spot for the same money you may aswell (the Spot was actually cheaper in a sale when I bought this but had a 2 month wait time for stock). It makes a particular amount of sense if you already own speakers and have a subscription music service and/or smart lighting so you can make the most of the features. I also feel like the input and a decent 2.1 speaker system would be a better buy than an Echo plus but it depends what you're looking for.It feels like a quality product and is about the size of a chunky coaster.

This thing is brilliant and picks my wifi up from my bedroom better than my Echo Dot.I bought this because they had a brilliant offer on them for £19.99 and I am so glad I bought it.I really do not understand why so many people just cannot get on with it. It was so easy to connect and I used the app to connect the Bluetooth speaker. I have a Jam Heavy Metal Bluetooth speaker and really these are on par with Bose and such a brilliant sound. Some people may have problems if they haven't got the new version 4 or 5 Bluetooth and I think that is why a lot of people are having problems. They need a modern speaker not an old one.It is extremely well made and robust and has a super none slip bottom.Thevoice is different from the old Alexa but I think better clarity and understandable.I don't think there is any way to change the voice but this female voice sounds more sexy :-)I have had it on all day so far and not a glitch at all. Doesn't drop off at any time and as I say the sound from my Jam Heavy Metal is amazing. If you do have one of these please give it a chance and use a good up to date Bluetooth Speaker but if you cannot then use the cable to connect it.For the price of £19.99 I would snap one up. Honestly it is easy to set up and don't let the bad reviews put you off.As I already had an Echo and maybe you have so you will not have to set all your smart switches and lamps and sockets because they are already setup. All you do is connect it to your WiFi and use the connection you use for the other echo's and you're done. You will not even need your WiFi password because it is saved on the app.

I have an Echo Dot (Gen 2) attached to speakers in my kitchen and an Echo Dot (Gen 3) in the front room. I needed something to add my Mission Aero to the Alexa party downstairs, and bought this Echo Input when it was £15 during the Prime Day sales. It was easy to setup and configure using the Alexa app on my Kindle Fire - I've saved my Wi-Fi key to the cloud, so it just connected itself up, all I had to do was switch the voice from American English to British English and change the wake word (my wife prefers talking to 'Echo' rather than 'Alexa').I have it connected using the aux in and supplied 3.5mm cable so that I can have the same thing playing in all three rooms. It's quite strange when you ask music to start playing as it comes on in the other rooms first, while Alexa is still responding to you locally. The way it synchronises it very clever - Note - to use multi-room, you must have the speakers connected using the wire (or using Echo's own inbuilt speakers in the case of the Dots), presumably because there is the potential for delay over Bluetooth. It's a revelation to be listening to something - podcast, radio, music, whatever, and for it to be in every room as you walk around doing stuff. If you have an old sound system that you want to bring into the 21st Century that has an aux-in input, get one of these. It's a tiny little disk that just need a power point to plug it into but functionality-wise, it's amazing.

I decided to order this Amazon echo input for my technics stereo system. I have attached the video and two pictures to give you a review how good this works, this now fetches my older technics hi-fi system to the 21st-century. With this particular set up I ordered a 3.5 mm jack to RCA outputs which i plugged into the VDP auxiliary output in the back of the system, and the 3.5 mm jack into the echo input. Now I can bark orders at the Amazon echo input, from asking Alexa to turn up the thermostat and asking what the temperature is set to, turning on and off lights playing music‘ games and many more. This echo input comes with a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm jack which probably would be perfect for your set up.you do also have the choice of Bluetooth with this device as well. The other good thing about using this device is it allows you to play digital content from the radio you can just ask Alexa to play which ever radio station you want from capital heart kiss et cetera. I have just set my technique system to a specific volume and I control the volume by the echo , which can be done by your voice by turning up and down or saying a specific number from 1 to 10. This is a great device and works very well the only thing I would say, in my particular case is that The volume output is set to a higher decibel then I would normally have the system set, too but as I said this just maybe in my particular case. Overall it is well worth it.

On opening my presents this morning I was really surprised to find that a friend of mine had bought me an Echo input. True, I'd noticed them on Amazon but as there were no reviews at the time, I had no idea what purpose they served, but on checking on Amazon before setting it up I found that they were for plugging into speakers or into a HiFi. They also work via a bluetooth speaker but as I use my dot via that, I've decided to use this through my HiFi. I decided to settle down late this afternoon once Christmas dinner was over and I had ample time.Setting it up took around five minutes and once it was shown as online, I plugged it into my HiFi auxiliary cable and, once the volume was adjusted I got Alexa to play Christmas music. In no time, Roy Wood and Wizard were pumping through my speakers with I Wish It Could be Christmas every day.Update, 31 May 2019I have just set up an account on Spotify and the music on here is just superb. Amazon Music Unlimited albums are on MP3 so if you're listening to an album where tracks run into each other, you get a short pause between tracks. On Spotify, they run into each other as they would if you were listening to a CD. This is because Spotify's albums are in Ogg Vorbis so I can now listen to concept or live albums without a break.I like these so much that I may well get another two or three to enjoy around my home, though I think I may leave that for some time yet.

I have an Echo Dot in my kitchen, and an Echo Plus in my sitting room, and when I saw the Echo Input, I though it was ideal for my bedroom. I initially connected it to my Bose Soundlink wireless speaker, but it was a bit off a hassle having to get out of bed to switch off the speaker, which doesn’t come with a remote control. (you could leave it on, and it will go off after a while). I then had a brainwave, and connected it to my Bose Wave radio, via its auxiliary ports , which allows me to listen to music —with the command to the Input ‘’ Alexa, play my music’’, and switch off the radio with the remote. No need to get out of bed.The Echo Input does everything the Echo Dot and Echo Plus do.Just ask ‘’Alexa, switch on bedroom light, and the light comes on. I ask Alexa to switch on my kettle, and by the time I get downstairs, the kettle has boiled. In fact, the Input is just like an Echo Dot or Echo Plus, but without the speaker.A point to note: If you say ‘Alexa, switch off’ —via the Echo Input—it asks ‘switch off what’?. But if you say ‘Alexa, turn off’, it turns off the Echo Input. Funnily, if you are with the Echo Dot, it will switch off with the command ‘Alexa, switch off’The Echo Input is excellent value at the current price of £19.99, if you don’t really need an Echo with a speaker, get the Input.P S. I give the Sound Quality 5 stars, but it also depends on the quality of your speakers.

I’m finally a convert to the home PA system universe with the Input because I love my Bose Soundlink and refused to ‘replace’ it for a sub-par mini speaker. So when I discovered this would work with my existing speaker, I was thrilled.Setup was effortless. I use an IPhone XR and it was as simple as downloading the Alexa app, selecting a few settings and BOOM we’re up and running. Eventually I will invest in the smart lighting and heating controls but for now we’re content to pretend we’re on the bridge of the Enterprise (seriously try ‘Alexa, warp speed’)Music was the main reason for the purchase so I subscribed to Amazons Family Music plan,up to six people can have their separate ‘accounts’ so you can have different playlists and recommendations to stream unlimited music.I find Alexa doesn’t recognise a few song titles very well, this is probably a subroutine issue if a song title isn’t in the vocabulary dictionary for example, Slipknot’s Unsainted isn’t recognised at all so that’s a small frustration. Also as recommended, you’ll need to turn off any energy saving settings on your speaker. My Bose turns itself off after 20 mins of not being used. I have to turn it back on to use the echoOverall I’m very pleased with the quality and ease of setup and highly recommend it if you have a compatible speaker that you’d rather use

Having received an Echo Dot a few weeks ago (My first Alexa gadget), I can honestly say I'm not quite sure what we did without Alexa. The reason I ordered this, is because we already have a Bluetooth speaker in our kitchen and after using the Dot upstairs for a while now, I really wanted one ‘Alexa powered’ downstairs. The Echo Input was marked down to a decent price (@£19.99) and to be honest I never knew it existed until I came across this browsing Alexa gadgets. We received the echo input a few days ago. It was simple enough to set up in the Alexa app and continues to be easy to use, just like the dot but without its own speaker – my Bluetooth speaker is now ‘smart’.Without reading the instructions I connected it initially via the included cable and then plugged the USB in.I didn’t realise until I read the instructions properly that I needn’t have done that as it works via Bluetooth (duh!) I have since disconnected the cable connection and it’s working just like it should (via Bluetooth)! I guess having the cable is handy anyway because the echo input can then be used for plugging into older speakers that may not have Bluetooth – they must be really old speakers! For the price I paid and for its intended use, I have saved a bit of money in not having to buy another Dot. So, all in all, I am very happy with my purchase.

I really didn't need to buy the echo input with me already having spare echo dots after replacing them all with echo shows but I wanted to see how it holds up against the other echo devices.I also had a sound bar I had stopped using since I started bluetoothing the audio from my fire tv stick to the echo show, so I thought I would link the echo input up to it.It picks up audio commands pretty well, even with the sound bar playing music. However when it's above the echo show in front of the TV the echo show hears me first every time. The echo input will just you from across a room easily though and I've got some ideas to test for it by linking it to my video doorbell. The only downside of the echoinput is you can't do calls over bluetooth it will disconnect from it's paired device to answer the call, which with it having no speaker is something that needs fixing. All in all though it's great if you have an existing stereo, sound bar and want to use it to boost Alexa speaker volume. With its small form factor and it using a micro USB to power it, you could add it in the car for Alexa voice control while on the road, simply put some double sided tape on the back and put it on the dash.Say ALEXA Enable SMART HOME VIDEOS to checkout my smart home videos, I'll be adding a video of me using the echo input soon.

I've been umming and ahhing for a while over Echo and Alexa - I use Siri on the Mac for some things, but never took the plunge on an Echo because of the lack of compatibility between Alexa and iTunes, where the vast majority of my music lives. But £20 for an Echo Input (who hasn't got spare speakers kicking around these days?) and reading online that it WAS now possible to play iTunes through the Amazon assistant prompted me to take the punt. The bad news - I didn't do my research properly. It turns out that playing iTunes straightforwardly through an Echo is only possible if you live in the US and pay extra for the Apple music service. Last I checked, my government is dysfunctional enough that I could be living in the States, but the weather outside is definitely Scottish winter so that was a bust. (The MyMedia app might be a solution, but too early to say). The good news - the gadget works really quite well. Set-up was straightforward. The microphone is excellent and works across kitchen and living room without shouting, even over background noise. Worth the money simply to get a voice-controlled digital radio, but since then I've also invested in some smart plugs to voice control some irritating lamp switches.Overall - excellent value and I might get a second.

I got this for £20 on a reduced offer but I wasn't sure if it was going to be an addition to my set-up or not. It uses a USB power supply which makes it portable using a battery pack. I tried a 2600mAh battery pack on it using the Bluetooth output to my Bose soundbar to listen to my favourite radio station from Tune-In and I got just under 6 hours from the battery pack before it ran out. It has two outputs, a wired one and Bluetooth and they both work flawlessly. If you don't want to disturb anybody else you can use Bluetooth or wired headphones both with perfect stereo playback. I found private listening with headphones and a battery pack instead of using mains is brilliant because it makes it totally portable subject to your WiFi connection.Of course the sound does depend on the quality of your speaker, headphones or Hifi system you use it on. I would imagine this is designed to do what my Stereo Echo Plus and Spot would do but with certain features missing, but as a basic unit I can see this being very useful for what I am going to use it for. If it is just internet radio and music playback, purchased through Amazon or subscription based, this is perfect taking into consideration you already own a decent HiFi with an aux input or Bluetooth speaker.

I bought one of these while in offer to use in the car. Overall I am very happy with the ee ice and it does work well even through some background noise in the car. Easy to connect physically thru an extended 3.5mm cable to my existinhf car audio setup, however did have to use a ground loop isolator to eliminate background interference from the car electrical system. The input works through my mobile as a mobile hotspot and data usage hasn't been too bad so far. Overall I've used something like 16gb of data in a month and I'm on a 25gb plan so not worried too much about overshooting the data allowance. One niggle is not being able to set the default echo volume to 10 and have to ask for this each time to get the best effect from the audio system.Setting up the echo input was quite tricky and I would advise doing it away from your existing home WiFi connection to make sure it doesn't try to connect to that instead of the hotspot. After a couple of attempts it did set up fine and is working OK. On occasion the alexa app springs into life to remind me to connect to an audio source, even if it is connected already..... But this is easy enough to clear. Overall, a good but of tech and brings true hands free operation when driving.

£20 for full Alexa integration? Dont really need a review lol!Im a big fan of Alexa and smart devices and bought this as we are moving into a new flat and just needed one more interface so decided to try this out.Our setup will eventually be paired 3rd gen dots in the bedroom, one 2nd gen dot paired to a bluetooth speaker in the kitchen, my fire hd8 in show mode, fire tv paired to hifi and finally this lil baby paired to hifi via bluetooth. It was a little confusing to set up as I was looking for the blue disc as with other echo devices and then I realised there aint one! Theres just a little led in the centre! As with other echo devices, pairing was more or less instantaneous and hassle free. The device seems pretty responsive and hears instruction well. Its tiny!!!! Think I will end up putting it on top of one of the speakers so its not at all noticable eventually.Sooooo, initial impressions, £20 well spent!!! Very very highly recommended!Updat!!!Extremely happy with the input after a few weeks. We have moved into the new flat and as you can see, the input is practically invisible! Its connected to the hifi via bluetooth and works like a dream!!!Fantastic value and very very highly recommended!!!

I bought this on a lightening deal for £19.99 - a bargain.I had been using a Dot through the kitchen speakers and this freed it up for use elsewhere, where it’s internal speaker would be needed. The “Input” was connected to the speaker using the 3.5mm audio lead supplied BEFORE power was applied and, having got a voice, I could follow instructions and it connected as easily as the Dot.I was pleased to confirm that the “Input” behaved in the same way as our Echo (mk1) and Dots in every respect I have tested so far. This includes being a member of my “Everything” group of speakers that play in sync around the house. Like one of our Dots it did take several minutes to be seen by my “Everything” group, but it got there in the end.It would be great if Amazon allowed the multiroom feature to work from any source, not just Amazon Music, as it appears to do at the moment. Amazon Music can “AirPlay” from my iPhone into the Alexa’s but other sources on the iPhone, such as Plex and locally stored music do not; I can only use Bluetooth to one device at a time. I’d like to be corrected on this if I am wrong, or for Amazon to relax it’s restrictions if I’m right.
