I spent ages researching various different displays, and perhaps getting fed up I decided to push the button on this monitor. I've used it for 1 day and it's now back in the box ready to be returned. Why? It just doesn't work for me.I'm a heavy "productivity" user, I spend a lot of time writing code, writing documents, designing interfaces, reading slack, doing zoom calls etc. and there's one serious problem with a 4K monitor at this size. Fractional scaling. If you run this monitor at it's native 4K resolution the UI elements of your OS are going to be way too small, and the only real solution to this is to using some sort of scaling. Unfortunately, Mac OS is pretty poor at scaling unless you choose 200%,which is what they do with their retina displays. Any other scaling option results in fractional scaling which basically means they render a lower resolution and scale it up. This means things like crisp 1 pixel lines will "shimmer" between 1px and 2px, icons don't look as crisp, and everything in general just looks a little off. Perhaps the worst thing is even YouTube videos will be scaled, a 4K video will be rendered at the lower resolution and then scaled back up to fit on the display, losing all the detail of the original video. 200% scaling looks really crisp, as if you were running a retina display, but the interface is then way too large, and you lose the benfit of having a 32 inch display. After less than a day of using this monitor I was questioning the point of having a 4K monitor if the only way I could use it was to effectively run it at a lower resolution, which is why I have decided to swallow the shipping costs and return it.I don't currently have a working Windows machine, but I am planning to build a new PC later in the year so I did a little research in to the scaling situation on Windows. The good news is Windows does a much better job at scaling the UI. Rather than render a lower resolution scaled up, Windows actually attempts to rescale the UI at 4K, and I must admit after watching some videos on YouTube it does look significantly better than macOS. Individual application support for this kind of scaling does seem a bit patchy, so I wasn't willing to hold on to the monitor just for Windows use.TL;DR: This monitor is too small to use native 4k without scaling, and too big to use 2x scaling, meaning you have to use fractional scaling which makes everything look terrible.
