ASUS VP28UQG 28" 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 1ms Display Port HDMI Adaptive Sync FreeSync Eye Care Gaming Monitor[This is quite a technical review, but those who need to know WILL know]I have bought this monitor mainly for gaming to go with the new Xbox One X, while having the option of using it as a TV using the Xbox One X as the video streaming device for DVs, Blu-Rays and broadcasts using a normal set-top box, and using my existing speaker system for the audio [this monitor has no built-in speakers though it has a 3.5mm headphones socket]. I need a relatively small screen as I game in the study, which has about a 3-foot viewing distance, and you can't get 4K TVs smaller than 42in or so,which would be massively too big for the space available...For general use:(1) The ASUS is highly recommended by those who have already used it.(2) it has HDCP 2.2, which is needed to be certain of showing 4k Blu-Ray disks ["normal" Blu-Ray disks only require HDCP 2.1, which is what 4K TVs have generally had until very recently]. I haven't tried this yet...In gaming terms:(1) it displays in 4K [obviously], which the Xbox One X can deliver natively for games and media that support it, as opposed to by upscaling from HD as per the Xbox One S or the PS4 Pro.(2) it allows AMD Freesync through the HDMI 2.0 input, which is the method that the Xbox One X will be using: freesync in my layman's terms is a method of handshaking which means that the monitor and the Xbox One X work out between them when to refresh the display - i.e. only when the Xbox One X is ready and not by force every 30th or 60th of a second, whether the next image is ready or not. This minimises stuttering [the same image is displayed for several refreshes, stopping the action, before jumping to the next available image having omitted several intervening images] and screen tearing [the screen is showing parts of two separate refreshes at once] by slowing down or speeding up each refresh as required. NOTE I say "will be using", as at the time of writing freesync is not yet enabled on the Xbox One X - expected Dec 2017.There are very other few monitors around with this combination of features and none that I am aware of at this price level, so I wanted to be sure that going for the cheap end hadn't compromised image quality [I say "cheap end" advisedly, as this 28in monitor is of course considerably more expensive than the equivalent-sized HD TV].My first impressions I am pleased to say are excellent - there are no stuck or defective pixels that I can see, and colour is vibrant without being "in your face". The monitor shows off both enhanced games [i.e. designed to display in 4k or enhanced to do so] and non-enhanced [i.e. designed for HD] very well, as well as Blu-Rays.I have two gripes: firstly the OSD is initially confusing, though easy to use once you understand it, and secondly this is exacerbated by the complete lack of a user manual - and at the time of writing there isn't one on the ASUS website. You also need to be aware - it is not a grip of mine as I was aware of the issue when I bought it but it doesn't affect me as I am the only user] - that as a TN panel the viewing angles are limited.

Name: Asus VS248HRSize: 24"Refresh Rate: 60HzResolution: 1920 x 1080Response Time: 1msHD: FULL HD (1080p)Price: £110FILMS: Really nice quality crisp images for watching films in 1080p Full HD. I have watch blueray films on this screen and they look stunning.GAMING: Brilliant response time for gaming. Its great for League of Legends or Overwatch. It's not a 144Hz monitor, but you dont need more than 60Hz unless your a serious fps gamer and you would not expect to buy a 144Hz monitor at this price.COLOURS: If you are a proffessional photographer or graphic designer that requires uber accurate colours in their monitor this probably is not for you. However the range and depth of colours are really nice for the average user. The monitor comes with a pre set of image modes(eg. films, gaming)SCREEN SIZE: The 24" are brilliant for multitasking. If you are a professional programmer, photographer, music producer, ect you will know having more screen space makes a massive difference in terms of speed of work and making your work easier to do. The extra inch over a 23" screen really makes a difference.SETUP: It is really straight forward requiring 1 screw. It takes 5min to set up.No dead pixels. No backlight bleed.CONS: It has 1 HDMI input port. It would be nice to have 2. It does not come with a HDMI cable. My Background: I am a computer scientist and a pc gamer, so I've done my research and know what makes a good monitor.CONCLUSION: It a brilliant monitor perfect for an average person's films, tv shows, gaming and work needs. Its a cheap monitor, but it is a good monitor regardless of price. Proffessionals that require particular needs such as colour accuracy(proffessional photographers) or high refresh rates(pro gamers) go for a £180 plus monitor.

First of all I didn't buy this monitor from Amazon as I found it on special offer elsewhere at a lower price.Second... people have left bad reviews stating no UK power lead was in the box, only a European two pin cable.Well... when I opened the box I thought I'd got the same problem as an EU lead was right there in a side compartment in the packaging. I took everything out of the box except the main large polystyrene section at the very bottom of the box. No UK cable! But!!! A gut feeling told me to take the bottom polystyrene section out, just in case. And on doing that I had a pleasant surprise... a UK three pin power lead!!!This is a very odd practice by Asus.I don't think I've ever bought a large item like a monitor or TV where the manufacturer has hidden stuff at the very bottom of the box, below the main polystyrene section.So... if you buy this product make sure you completely empty the cardboard box of ALL packaging before panicking that no UK lead is included. The monitor is great. I use it for both Xbox One X and also a Windows 10 NUC mini PC.Colours are clean and sharp. Beautiful picture quality and loads of settings to make any adjustments.Mine doesn't appear to have built in speakers, just a headphone socket at the back. I get the feeling there may be different versions of this monitor doing the rounds as others state theirs do have speakers. No big deal for me personally. So I recommend this monitor.

ASUS VS248HR 24 inch Gaming Monitor (1 ms, 1920 x 1080, HDMI, DVI, VGA, 250 cd/m2) - BlackHi,This is my review of the ASUS VS248HR 24-Inch Monitor. This monitor has mostly pros from me, and not much cons. They are:Pros:-Quick Response Time (1ms)-Standard Full HD Resolution (1920x1080)-50,000,000:1 ASUS smart contrast ratio-Easy to use/setup.-HDMI and VGA support as well as a headphone jack.-Comes with a EU and UK plug.-Very nice matte screen and nice slick frame.-Circular stand.-Low Power Usage.Cons:-Doesn't arrive with a HDMI cable (They aren't too expensive though.)-Sometimes colours and brightness are hard to setup at first launch.-Stand might be a bit big for some people.-The colour/brightness presets aren't too useful as you'll find yourself making your own.Okay,so the cons aren't too big which is why this monitor deserves a solid 5 star and 9.5/10. The only strong con is the hard to setup colour and brightness yet other than that, this monitor is a great choice for the price of £115 and is actually better than pretty much all the monitors for this price.I recommend this monitor to everyone with a medium budget requiring a good screen with full HD.

I bought this screen recently and it arrived earlier than expected which was nice. The box included the stand, UK power cable and two different video cables. Unpacking and assembling the monitor was pretty straight forward though I needed a different cable (ordered separately) because of the connectors on my graphics card. After a windows update the monitor appeared to hijack my sound with my PC sending everything to it rather than to my headset. This was easily fixed within windows settings and I suspect the fault of Windows rather than the screen. If this happens to you and you want to kill off the monitor sound then you can safely disable that part in the drivers and still have the screen work. The main downside? The monitor stand is very cheap, flimsy and light. I don't fear it breaking but when I'm typing on the desk the monitor starts to wobble. This is very distracting. If it wasn't inside a niche between some shelf uprights I'd also be concerned about its stability if knocked slightly. Sadly the stands are not a standard fitting so you either have to live with it or buy a VESA mount.

Having used this monitor for about a week, and used it for multiple things (gaming, watching videos etc.), this monitor has really impressed me. The quality is fantastic at 4K, and you can run games at lower resolutions and have no problems. The screen is more than bright enough, and the colours are very vibrant for a TN panel. The 28" size makes it a much more immersive experience as well. All the cables you need are provided (HDMI/DP/Power for UK and EU) so no issues there. The OSD controls are very easy to use and the settings very easy to access and modify.Unboxing and assembly is very simple, and you can be up and running within just a few minutes. The only downsides I could pull up are the viewing angles are not brilliant, but definitely more than adequate, and the built in speakers are rubbish, but you shouldn't expect good sound quality from built in ones! For the price, this monitor is excellent. Definitely recommend.

I am highly impressed with this monitor and amazing service from Amazon who delivered the monitor in just 2 working days. The monitor box was protected by another box, which was very useful so then at least the chances of it getting damaged during delivery was very slim.Upon opening the monitor box was the monitor it's self, which was protected very well, then 2 power cords (one for UK and one for EU), and then a VGA and DVI cable. Setting up the monitor was very easy. The monitor stand needs to be put on manually but was very simple to put on, then plugged the power cord and DVI cable in and the monitor was in use in seconds. The monitor it's self is amazing, with it's high definition display and quick response time.It even has different modes, which includes Scenery, Standard, Theater, Game and Night view mode. Playing games now feels really smooth and high definition!

Using this as a 2nd monitor for the laptop and also for gaming on the PS4 Pro where it really shines as a gaming monitor. Of course, being a monitor it doesn’t have built-in speakers so I just use a portable speaker and connect to the monitor via the 3.5mm jack. When I turn the PS4 off, it automatically switches to the other HDMI channel for my laptop which I find is a nice touch. You can toggle the blue light filter on and it has 4 varying levels. You can also play around with quite a few different settings to get the best picture for yourself. I would highly recommend the monitor for gaming and casual video watching. I wouldn’t get this if you want something for photo-editing - the colours are not so sharp for it.The monitor can be adjusted both in the left to right tilt as well as up and down tilt.

I have been using this monitor for my PS4 slim for 2 months now, its really good for this performance . The screen is really bright with colours not too saturated, but good enough for a decent gaming experience. Even in bright sunlight , the LCD shines well enough for my viewing of Netflix and Prime Videos. But that also mean that , in total darkness , the black areas [ the cut out portion of video and dark areas in the video content ] appear more as grey than pure black. But this is trade off for using LCD instead of LED, and shouldn't affect your gaming. No audio with this screen , but it provides a headphone port in the back, the placement of which is a bit of downer in case you were thinking of using it [I use headphones with my Ps4 controller ]. Its definitely worth the money.

The monitor is great! Aesthetically its stylish, minimal and the stand is great if you want to play at an angle. The original monitor I received had a steady vertical red line going down the centre of the screen. It took me a few days to speak with ASUS directly which was irritating, as you have 7 days upon order of reporting Dead on Arrival monitor screens (don't bother wasting hours trying to get through to Customer Support on the phone, just email them instead). Eventually after providing an invoice as evidence of purchase, my replacement screen was dispatched and touch-wood the new one is perfect. I bought mine with 20% off in black friday sale, so great value.Even at full-price it is a good buy if you want a gaming monitor with fast response time.

ASUS VS248HR 24 inch Gaming Monitor (1 ms, 1920 x 1080, HDMI, DVI-D, VGA, 250 cd/m2) - BlackFor someone who wants a fast responding decent sized monitor at a good price, you be hard pressed to beat this. I don't have the top spec computer needed to game at 4k or over 60hz refresh rate which means I don't need to buy a £300 monitor either, what I do want is one that's responsive (1ms with this), decent size with the possibility of fitting 2 on desk and with good colour/contrast control. Combine this with a sleek look a great brand and a give or take £100 price tag and you needn't look any further for you next monitor.I have had this monitor for over a year and no complaints, no dead pixels,no loss of colour and looks as good as new.

This purchase was primarily for use when I often work from home so it struck a good balance between low cost and high specification plus my requirements for a 24" screen. I have to say that out of the box the picture quality is very impressive being both bright and vibrant and flicker free (unlike the supposed high quality Asus screens in work, allegedly of similar specifications). Well impressed, such that I'm tempted to buy another two to replace the ones I use in work! Can't comment on how this performs for games and video as that's not the purpose of this purchase. Very sturdy base by the way with good screen tilt adjustment.Considering the actual size of the 24" screen I didn't need a 27" one as I originally thought after all.

Very functional monitor. As with monitors in general, the default colour and contrast settings were abominable and for some reason the Nvidia drivers kept detecting this as an HDTV which resulted in very greyed out visuals (though I'm not sure if that's Asus's fault, or just Nvidia being Nvidia). The blues are a bit weak, so my attempts to match the colours with my old monitor were of limited success. The height of the stand isn't adjustable, and it's not that sturdy and tends to rock when I'm pressing any of the buttons which is a slight annoyance. But, while I'd prefer the colours were a little better out of the gate, this was also an incredibly cheap monitor. So I'm more than happy with my purchase.

Bought for my sons PC for Christmas. I have used an Asus ProArt screen for a few years now and loved it. Straight out the box this screens colours are a bit muddy and muted in any mode. I will use my Spyder 5 calibrator when he is not around and see if I can get it just right. The size is spot on for the viewing distance and has the connections I need for now (HDMI). The PC has an Nvidia GTX 1060 6gb card and wont get used anywhere near its potential with this, but then I cant afford a decent screen that will at the moment (future upgrade!). I have had a good look at the screen and cant see any problem pixels but then I have never had any on my Asus either.Overall a good monitor for the price.
